A Brazilian federal judge ordered the immediate suspension of all environmental licenses held by Sigma Mineração S.A., the operating subsidiary of Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML), for the Grota do Cirilo project. The September 4 preliminary order also halted mining activities following a civil action brought by the Federation of Quilombola Communities of Minas Gerais.
The dispute centers on whether the project lies within the area of influence of the Baú Quilombola Community and therefore required free, prior, and informed consultation. The judge cited studies placing the community's territory approximately 2.7 kilometers from the project's directly affected area, within the 8-kilometer presumptive regulatory impact radius applicable to mining projects outside Brazil's Legal Amazon under Interministerial Ordinance No. 60/2015. Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML) has argued that the project is outside the relevant impact zone.
The court ordered independent georeferencing and barred Minas Gerais and its environmental agency from issuing new licenses, amendments, or corrective approvals until the community-protection requirements are completed.
Two routes remain. If independent georeferencing supports the boundary position, Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML) could seek favorable court relief modifying or reversing the suspension. This provides an alternative to completing the consultation requirements.
If the project falls within the regulated impact area, Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML) would need Incra approval of the Quilombola Component Study, Basic Quilombola Environmental Plan and Final Execution Report, plus free, prior and informed consultation with the Baú community. Completing those requirements could preserve the project if acceptable mitigation is agreed.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight headliners Jean Silva and Jose Delgado came face-to-face Friday evening following the Noche UFC 4 ceremonial weigh-ins, held ahead of their main event tomorrow night (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) inside Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Delgado quickly stormed onto the stage and soaked in a massive ovation from his hometown crowd. Silva, meanwhile, took his time—as usual—and initially hid his face from the fans.
When Silva finally stepped onto the scale and struck his pose, he revealed that his face had been painted like a sugar skull.
The two Featherweights then got directly in each other's faces. Silva unleashed his trademark bark, but Delgado refused to take the bait, standing his ground and staring straight through the Brazilian contender.

After drawing 0-0 with Ecuador in their Conmebol U-15 Evolution League opener, the Women's National Team looked for a faster game and sharper passing, ending their second match of the continental tournament with a 4-2 win over Colombia. With the result, the Canarinho remains in contention for first place in the group and the ****** le.
Colombia's first shot on goal came after 25 seconds, but Brazil, focused on regaining possession and controlling the ball, surged down the right through Nicoly, who crossed for Marcela Bontorim to head home and score the Canarinho's first goal in less than two minutes.
Brazil's number 13 found the net again in the 33rd minute after taking advantage of a lapse in the Colombian marking and receiving a pass alone inside the box on the left, from a free kick taken from midfield.
The opponents cut the deficit two minutes later with an individual play by Lelys Victoria, who got past three Brazilian defenders and shot into the goalkeeper's right corner. Before the end of the first half, Brazil put together a quick one-two and attacked through midfielder Melissa, who took a shot, the goalkeeper parried it, and the rebound fell to Nina de Deus, who made sure to score her goal — the Canarinho's third of the match.
In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Colombia won a penalty, taken by forward Alejandra Díaz, who struck it into Nathy's right corner, giving the Brazilian goalkeeper no time to reach the ball. The Canarinho did not let up and, in the 35th minute, scored their fourth goal. Once again, after a loose ball from a set piece and a mistake by the Colombian goalkeeper, Mavi, wearing number 9, made no mistake and scored hers.

Leading members of the first-team ranks at La Liga's two headline clubs have secured for themselves respective places in the first Champions League Team of the Season.
This of course comes fresh off the opening round of fixtures in European football's premiere club competition being brought to a close on Thursday night.
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid managed opening day victories, the former at the expense of Feyenoord, and the latter Inter Milan.
Leading the way with a brace for Hansi Flick's Blaugrana was the in-form Raphinha, enough for the Brazilian to clinch a spot amongst the attackers in the Team of the Week.
For Real Madrid, meanwhile, it was a performance at the other end of the pitch which proved enough for a spot amongst UEFA's coveted XI, after Thibaut Courtois conjured up a whole host of brilliant saves to hold Inter at bay.

For most who watched Manchester United's pre-season friendlies, one thing stood out clearly: in Andrey Santos, the club had signed an exceptionally talented midfielder.
The Brazilian proved an instant hit. He brought composure and **** urance to the engine room, constantly demanded the ball, dropped deep to receive it, and displayed an impressive passing range.
Many United fans also noted the excellent understanding he quickly developed with Mason Mount. Together, they formed a lively and effective partnership in the middle of the park.
Both having missed the World Cup and featuring heavily throughout pre-season, a Mount-Santos midfield looked the natural choice for Michael Carrick at the start of the campaign, while he gradually eased Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans into the side. However, Mount picked up an injury that derailed those plans.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi refused to say if Richarlison would remain with the club after reports that the Brazil striker wants to end his contract.
Richarlison is reportedly in a dispute with Tottenham over the remaining nine months on his current deal.
The 29-year-old was linked with a move to his former club Everton, but the deal collapsed just before the September 1 transfer deadline in the Premier League.
Richarlison is reported to want Tottenham to agree a loan switch that would allow him to join Brazilian side Vasco da Gama before reassessing his options in January.
Vasco da Gama director of football Admar Lopes has confirmed they are in talks about a move for Richarlison.

Kauã Lucas scored the winning goal in the Brazil U-15 Men's National Team's 1-0 victory over Colombia in their openerCredits: Diana Carrillo / Staff Images / CBF
The Brazil U-15 Men's National Team opened its CONMEBOL Liga Evolución 2026 campaign with a 1-0 win over Colombia on Tuesday morning (8) at Parque Guasu in Luque, Paraguay. Kauã Lucas scored the goal that earned the young Seleção all three points in the 29th minute of the first half.
After a long clearance for the Brazilian defense, Valmir headed the ball back toward the young Seleção's attack and found Samuell, who passed to Kauã Lucas. Wearing the No. 11 shirt, he controlled the play with his head, already getting past the Colombian defender. He then burst forward at speed until he was one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper and finished into the corner to seal the final score.
The result put Brazil at the top of the North Zone group. In the other match in the group, Venezuela and Peru drew 4-4.

After suffering a disappointing loss to Real Betis in their last La Liga game, Real Madrid are returning to their favorite competition, i.e., the UEFA Champions League, today, on Tuesday. The Merengues will be facing Inter Milan in the opening match of the competition, and would naturally be looking to start their campaign with a win.
To win this game, and the entire competition, Los Blancos would need their superstars to play at their best level. The team will once again be relying a lot on the forward Vinicius Junior, who was also a key contributor in their last two UCL triumphs.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Brazilian talked to Real Madrid media ahead of the UCL opener against Inter Milan. Vinicius **** ured that this campaign is going to be different than the last two, and his team is ready to go all the way:
"I hope number 16 comes. We are ready for it. This is our competition. We haven't done well in it for the past two years. Our first objective is to finish among the top eight. We are always excited about the Champions League. This season is going to be different from the last two Champions League campaigns, and we are going to win it."
Meanwhile, the winger also recognized how difficult the match against Inter is going to be:

Manchester City completed the signing of Allan from Palmeiras during the lattee stages of the summer transfer window. The Brazilian winger is one of Manchester City's more intriguing signings for some time. Allan has taken a different route to earn his move to City. He rose through the ranks at Palmeiras before establishing himself on the right wing for Abel Ferreira's side. It was hoped that Allan would be in the City squad for last Saturday's match against Coventry City. But that wasn't to be. Instead, he could be in line to make his City debut against FC Porto tonight.
It was a surprise that Allan didn't make the bench for Manchester City's win over Coventry City last Saturday. However, it was reported by Enzo Krieger for CityXtra that Allan wasn't deemed fit enough to play at the Etihad. However, that situation has quickly changed. Allan has been included in Manchester City's travelling squad for tonight's match against FC Porto at the Estádio do Dragão. Also, he did train with his teammates yesterday. At this stage, it would be a major surprise if Allan wasn't at least on the bench for the opening fixture of Manchester City's 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign.
There would seem to be little chance that Allan would start tonight against FC Porto. He hasn't been at Manchester City for long and the Brazilian winger also wasn't fit enough to make the bench against Coventry City. Stranger things have happened but it would be unlikely that Allan will start tonight.
However, there is a chance that Allan could come off the bench tonight. Perhaps being an impact substitute may be the best way for Maresca to introduce Allan to the fold. The Brazilian winger is a quick winger blessed with quality dribbling skills and the ability to work hard on both sides of the ball. Maybe that is how Allan will make his City debut and tonight may be the right setting for Allan to play a small role for Enzo Maresca's side depending on how tonight's match unfolds.
Allan was included in Manchester City's travelling sqaud for tonight's match against FC Porto. So there is a chance that one of the more intriguing signings that City have made could get on the pitch for the first time as a Manchester City player. Whether or not it occurs remains to be seen but Allan's City debut is edging ever closer.

The decisive stage of the 2026 CONMEBOL Sudamericana quarterfinals is about to begin! This Tuesday (8), at 9:30 p.m., in Buenos Aires, Tricolor will face Boca Juniors (ARG) in the first leg.
São Paulo heads into the clash at La Bombonera on the back of two straight wins: they beat Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 and Atlético-MG 2-0, both at MorumBIS, in the Brazilian Championship.
Tonight's match will mark the reunion between the Brazilians and Argentines after nearly 19 years: the last game took place on September 26, 2007, and ended in a 1-0 win for São Paulo at MorumBIS in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana. With the goal scored by Aloísio at home, Tricolor knocked out Boca Juniors and secured a place in the quarterfinals of the competition. In the first leg, at La Bombonera, the opposition had won 2-1 — at that time, away goals were a tiebreaker.
There have been 20 matches between the two clubs in history, with seven wins for Tricolor, five draws, and eight victories for the Argentines. Each team has scored 29 goals in these meetings.
The teams have already faced each other seven times at La Bombonera, with two wins for São Paulo, one draw, and four wins for the home side. Tricolor won on October 10, 1995, by 3-2, in the Supercopa, and on January 25, 1961, by 5-1, in the South American Octagonal.

Stablecoins were supposed to route around the banking system. Instead, the companies scaling them are building deeper into it than anyone predicted.
Stripe paid $1.1 billion for Bridge, whose core product is orchestrating banks. Citi is launching crypto custody. Standard Chartered is testing stablecoin settlement in Singapore. One by one, the operators moving institutional volume keep landing on the same architecture.
An enterprise cross-border payment has three legs. The payer's money moves in local currency over local rails—a Brazilian importer paying in BRL via Pix. The payee receives local currency on their end—the supplier collecting dollars in their account.
Between them sits the middle leg: getting value across the border from one institution to the other. That leg used to run through correspondent banking, SWIFT messages hopping between intermediary banks, each holding accounts with the next, each adding a day and a fee. When both institutions accept a stablecoin, that leg settles on-chain in seconds. Banks still own the other two.

Manchester United fell short of securing all three points on Merseyside on Sunday. Everton pulled out two screamers in the final minutes to equalize twice against Michael Carrick's Reds in what could easily have been a second straight win. Instead, it's a third match in a row conceding two goals and more to ponder going forward about the defensive approach.
The Reds looked the better side for much of the contest. A first half of positive wing play did not produce many chances despite the exciting options up front. The best looks at goal came on a try for the spectacular by Bruno Fernandes and a ball across the box by Marcus Rashford.
Matheus Cunha was the one who got on the end of the ball from Rashford, but he sent the chance well over the target with his shot form the edge of the box.
United got on the scoresheet right after the restart though. After emerging from the dressing room at 0-0, Bryan Mbeumo got an opportunity to cut inside and fire past Jordan Pickford in the 46th minute. It was a low effort that beat the England No. 1 to his right side.
It appeared that the goal could spark a second-half flurry, but Everton settled in and began a long push for an equalizer. Senne Lammens was called to action a handful of times without the Blues finding a clear look at goal, and United's only real threat to double the lead came from another bit of Rashford magic. He skipped through the defense and somehow maintained the balance and poise to heel the ball to Cunha centrally, but James Tarkowski got a foot through the Brazilian's legs to poke the ball away before he could fire.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the Real Madrid attacker Endrick.
According to reports via CaughtOffside, they are preparing a January move to sign the talented young Brazilian, and they could submit an offer of around €60-70 million.
The Brazilian attacker has attracted the attention of top clubs in recent months, but Real Madrid chose to keep him at the club during the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old was on loan at Lyon during the second half of last season, and he was exceptional for the French outfit. Endrick had 16 goal contributions last season.
There is no doubt that he is a phenomenal talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a key player for Manchester United. They could use more quality and depth in the final third, and Endrick could be a solid long-term acquisition.
Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move away from Manchester United, and they will need to replace him properly. It remains to be seen whether they can get a deal for the Brazilian international.

BRASILIA, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Brazil's wealthiest captured a record share of national income under President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, tax-return data show, offering a striking counterpoint to the leftist leader's effort to convince voters that gains have been widely shared under his administration as he seeks reelection in October.
Lula has pointed to falling inequality, as measured by a record-low Gini coefficient ‌in 2024, and rising employment as evidence that his administration prioritizes poorer Brazilians.
But tax-return data paint a more complex picture: high interest rates, partly a consequence of increased government spending, fueled a boom in ‌financial income that disproportionately benefited the wealthy, even as stronger labor markets, wage gains, and social programs improved conditions at the bottom of the income distribution.
"If government benefits, on the one hand, are well targeted, they can have a positive social impact," said Otaviano Canuto, a former World Bank vice president.

Chelsea's season is barely underway, yet questions are already emerging around Estêvão's role under new head coach Xabi Alonso.
According to ESPN Brazil, the young Brazilian is concerned that his opportunities could be reduced under Alonso, despite wanting to remain at Stamford Bridge. The report, written by Renato Senise, suggests the player has privately discussed his situation with close ****** ociates.
The timing is significant. Estêvão missed the final stretch of last season because of a right thigh muscle injury suffered in April, which also ruled him out of the World Cup. Having returned to Chelsea, he now faces a difficult battle for regular first team football.
Alonso has taken charge of only three Chelsea matches so far, two in the Premier League and one in the English League Cup, but the early signs have prompted concern.
Estêvão made a seven minute appearance against Fulham before starting against Luton Town in the cup. He was then an unused substitute during Chelsea's 4-3 victory over Brighton.

AS Monaco have announced the squad for their upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League campaign. Folarin Balogun has been notably omitted from the squad. It comes following the breakdown of his move to Everton on transfer deadline day.
Monaco announced their UECL squad on Thursday. Balogun was not in it. Whilst Nice-Matin have reported that the USMNT international is likely to remain at Monaco, at least until the winter, there is still the possibility for him to depart. The transfer windows in Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, notably, remain open.
Balogun returned to training for Monaco on Thursday, ahead of Friday night's game against Paris Saint-Germain. He has not been included in the matchday squad for that game, however. A fitness issue had been evoked by Filipe Luís pre-match. The Brazilian manager could not give a timeline for the striker's return. This, as well as the uncertainty over his future, could explain Balogun's surprise absence from the Europa Conference League list.
Matthis Abline, Paris Brunner, and Mika Biereth are the recognised senior options at Luís' disposal.

Manchester City announced the signing of Allan from Palmeiras yesterday. The Brazilian winger is set to provide Enzo Maresca with another option to utilize on the right wing. Despite City signing Allan, they did need to sign one more player to bolster their attack. In the end, City have achieved that goal. The FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders have now officially confirmed the signing of Senegalese international Iliman Ndiaye from Everton. Ndiaye is an exciting signing for City and he will offer Enzo Maresca flexibility and quality to unleash in the final third.
Ahead of the transfer window closing at 23:00, Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Iliman Ndiaye. Ndiaye has signed a five-year contract with City, which will run until the summer of 2031. By signing Iliman Ndiaye, Enzo Maresca will have a player at his disposal whose strengths, especially his dribbling and ability to beat a man in one-on-one situations, look ideally suited to playing a prominent role in his squad.
Sam Lee and Jessica Hopkins have reported for The Athletic that Manchester City hage paid Everton £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons to sign Ndiaye.
Speaking with mancity.com after signing for Manchester City, Iliman Ndiaye revealed that once he knew of City's interest in signing him, he had his heart set of joining Enzo Maresca's side. He explained: "It's easy to make the decision about whether you want to be at Manchester City or not."
"You can see the recent history; you want to be part of that project. They talked to me about where we could go, what we could achieve with me in the team, and I was interested from the beginning."

Roma's transfer market doesn't stop with the September bell.
Discussions and evaluations have already resumed at Trigoria ahead of January, with Tony D'Amico working to anticipate moves and provide Gian Piero Gasperini with new reinforcements.
Free agents are still being considered for the wing, while the project for the attack is decidedly more ambitious.
The goal is to close a major deal early and then bring the new signing to the capital as soon as the transfer window officially reopens. And a name already being pursued over the summer is gaining traction: Endrick.
The Brazilian Real Madrid player had been in Roma's sights for months, before any discussions were postponed until the winter transfer window. Now, however, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport, the situation is changing, and the Giallorossi are gaining momentum.

Santos FC fought hard and applied plenty of pressure early in the derby, but could not overturn Palmeiras' large advantage. After a 0-0 draw this Wednesday (2) at Vila Belmiro, they are out of the 2026 Copa do Brasil. Peixe did try to break through and created chances, but their rivals knew how to protect the result after winning the first leg of the quarterfinals 3-0 on the 26th at Nubank Parque in São Paulo, thus securing a place in the semifinals.
Out of the national knockout tournament, coach Cuca's squad now shifts focus to the 2026 Brazilian Championship. Riding high after beating Corinthians 1-0 last Sunday (30) at Neo Química Arena, Alvinegro Praiano now aims to climb even higher in the table and move away from the danger zone.
This Sunday (6), Santos FC visits Internacional at Beira-Rio Stadium at 4 p.m. for the 26th round of the Brasileirão. If they can win in Porto Alegre, Peixe could open up as much as a seven-point gap from the relegation zone and start dreaming of bigger things in the national competition.
Santos FC now turns its full focus to the Brasileirão (Photo: Raul Baretta/ Santos FC)
The match – Driven by the "fire corridor" on arrival and by a roaring Vila Belmiro, Santos came out on top of Palmeiras. Just 4 minutes in, Igor Vinicius reached the edge of the box and struck with his left foot, forcing a save from Carlos Miguel.

USA Rare Earth (NASDAQ: USAR) is a critical minerals specialist that went public through a merger with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. II in March 2025. The company saw some volatile trading in the months immediately following its debut, but it went on to hit a lifetime high in October of that year following reports that the company was discussing a potential partnership with the White House and rumors that the U.S. government could take a stake in the business.
In January 2026, USA Rare Earth actually did announce that the U.S. government was establishing a roughly 10% ownership stake in the company that could expand to 16% with the exercise of warrants -- but its share price has still fallen far below the high it hit last year. As of this writing, the stock is down roughly 53.5% from that valuation peak. In other words, a $10,000 investment made in the stock at that point would now be worth roughly $4,650.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
While the U.S. government's desire to increase its ability to source critical minerals domestically and reduce its dependence on minerals from China presents a potentially powerful catalyst for USA Rare Earth's business, the company is still in a relatively early stage of expanding its operations. Along those lines, the company generated just $11.5 million in revenue across the first half of this year. Meanwhile, the mining and processing player has a market capitalization of roughly $4.4 billion.
The company's move to acquire Brazilian rare-earth specialist Serra Verde in a roughly $2.8 billion deal should dramatically expand USA Rare Earth's sales footprint and earnings potential, but the deal being primarily funded with stock also means that shareholders will see significant dilution. USA Rare Earth has growth opportunities on the horizon that could help it bounce back and climb well above its past valuation peak, but investors should approach the stock with the understanding that it's a speculative bet.

Rafael Ribeiro / CBFCredits: Palmeiras and Vasco go after the ***** le
It's time to find out who will be the 2026 Brazilian U-20 champion. Palmeiras and Vasco face off this Friday (4), at 7 p.m. (Brasília time), at Nubank Parque, in São Paulo (SP), for the second and decisive leg of the final. After a 1-0 win in the first match at São Januário (look back here), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Verdão takes the field with the advantage in the ***** le race.
Palmeiras' winning goal in the first game was scored by Erick Belé late in the first half. As a result, a draw is enough to secure the trophy for Verdão. If Vasco manage to win by a one-goal margin and level the aggregate score, the champion will be decided on penalties.
The advantage, however, does not mean peace of mind. Vasco showed in the first match that they can trouble their opponent and will now have 90 minutes to try to change the course of the final. The Rio side have reached the final for the first time in the history of the Brazilian U-20 Championship and need to win away from home to take the trophy back to São Januário.
