Chad Tracy Gets Honest About Sonny Gray After Red Sox Win originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox needed Sonny Gray to halt a concerning personal trend Wednesday night. Instead, the veteran starter delivered a performance that looked like it came straight from his prime. Gray silenced the first-place Chicago White Sox over six innings in Boston's 4-0 victory, helping the Red Sox extend their winning streak to seven games. He allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out eight, improving his record to an outstanding 14-2.
It was quite the response from the 36-year-old after he surrendered nine earned runs over 12 innings in his previous two starts.
Gray looked comfortable from the opening pitch, mixing his breaking pitches effectively and repeatedly convincing Chicago hitters to chase below the strike zone.
"I thought he was awesome," Tracy said, per MLB.com's Ian Browne. "Very, very locked in and determined from the time he got here, and he executed his pitches, had his spin pretty much whenever he wanted to."

Jarren Duran has not been good at the plate this year, but the Red Sox keep giving him opportunities.
Duran recently revealed that he thought he was undeserving of those opportunities and that he thought he was going to be released.
"To be honest, I thought I was going to be released," Duran said Tuesday at Fenway Park, per the Boston Globe's Alex Speier. "I am the worst player in MLB statistically. I hate looking at the numbers but when you're going bad, you look at the numbers and it was pretty obvious how bad I was. I thought I was going to be released.
"There were a couple times where I yelled at (interim manager Chad Tracy), like, 'I shouldn't be playing! What are you guys (expletive) doing? I shouldn't even be in this lineup.' And then something good would happen, and Trace would be like, 'That's why you're in the (expletive) lineup!'"

The Boston Red Sox have not had Garrett Crochet for most of the season thanks to a shoulder injury.
Crochet was the American League Cy Young Award runner-up last season, but was off to a poor start this year. He had a 6.30 ERA through six starts, but it's possible that the shoulder injury was something that was bothering him before he eventually went to the injured list. Regardless, all eyes are now on him trying to get back.
"Garrett started throwing yesterday, at 50, 60 feet," Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said on Tuesday, per MLB.com's Ian Browne. "So as you guys know, he's been down a while. We're in the very infant stages of very short [distance]. But he did have a ball in his hand and was throwing it, which is good. So he's probably going to be in that really short range throwing for now, and then we'll move him along as he goes."
Crochet still has a long way to go, but it's early August right now, and the Red Sox do not really need him back until mid to late September if they want him to be ready for the postseason. Still, he has some big hurdles to clear.

BOSTON (AP) — Adley Rutschman was still adjusting less than 24 hours after being traded for the first time in his career.
Being in playoff contention may make for a smoother transition once the three-time All-Star catcher is ready to take the field for the Red Sox after spending his first four-plus seasons with the Baltimore Orioles.
"Just from playing here, the city loves baseball. It always has a great atmosphere and I'm excited to play in it," Rutschman said Tuesday at Fenway Park before the Red Sox hosted the Chicago White Sox. "They're playing the game the right way and doing things right. It was cool to watch from a distance. Now being here, like I said — just trying to fit in and help out any way I can."
Rutschman joined his new club on the injured list with left wrist inflammation. He and Boston interim manager Chad Tracy said Rutschman would meet with the team's medical staff to determine what's next in his rehabilitation and how soon he could be back behind the plate.
Tracy said Rutschman is already swinging a bat and the Red Sox were hopeful to add him to their lineup soon. Boston also wasn't about to rush the recovery of a player that cost it a handful of top prospects in a deal pulled off shortly before Monday's trade deadline.

Will the New York Giants go from worst to first in the NFC East next season? Do they have the best shot among last-place finishers from 2025 to flip the script in their respective divisions in 2026?
The ***** ociated Press' Josh Dubow pointed to the Giants' strength at the top of their coaching and roster hierarchies as reason for optimism that the team can finish first in the NFC East next season.
Reason for optimism: New coach John Harbaugh brings a proven track record to a franchise that needed a big jolt. Jaxson Dart showed flashes as a rookie with 15 touchdown passes and nine TD runs and could be better if WR Malik Nabers is healthy. Brian Burns and Abdul Carter give New York a potential strong one-two punch at pass rusher and rookie Arvell Reese could make an immediate impact.
Reason for pessimism: The Giants had one of the league's worst run defenses last season and traded away defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in the offseason. That leaves a potentially big hole on the interior defensive line. If Nabers doesn't get back to his rookie form from 2024, the offense lacks playmakers on the outside.
The Giants possess clear star power. Dart is capable of topping 3,500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in 2026. Nabers has the talent to finish among the league's top five in receiving yards. Cam Skattebo is expected to approach 1,000 rushing yards, while Tyrone Tracy has already shown he can produce 1,000 scrimmage yards in a season.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Boston Red Sox are holding out All-Star Willson Contreras in Saturday night's game at the Los Angeles Dodgers as he undergoes concussion testing.
Contreras was hit by a pitch on the side of the helmet in the third inning of the Red Sox's 9-4 victory over the Dodgers on Friday night. He left the game.
Contreras was struck by a 95-mph fastball from reliever Will Klein. The first baseman was checked on by the medical staff before taking first base. He had already hit the dirt after Klein's first pitch of the at-bat.
Following Friday night's game, Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said preliminary tests on Contreras "have been fine."
Contreras is hitting .288 with 23 home runs and 67 RBI.

LOS ANGELES — Brayan Bello has spent his entire professional life on a five-day routine. That was the case in each of the last three seasons, in which he made at least 28 starts for the Red Sox, and even in a tough first three months of this season despite sometimes pitching behind an opener.
The past few weeks, though, have brought something new for Bello: long layoffs and randomly placed outings along the way. After making his fourth start at Triple-A Worcester on July 1, he was held out of pitching until July 12, when he returned to the majors with a 4 ⅓ inning relief outing at Citi Field. Ten days later, he relieved Eduardo Rivera at Fenway and gave the Red Sox a 5 ⅓ inning appearance in a loss to Baltimore. On Friday — after a nine-day layoff — he returned to the mound again and pitched the final four innings of a 9-4 win over the Dodgers.
It's not a conventional role for a former rotation stalwart who signed a $55 million extension two years ago and just last fall started Game 2 of a playoff series at Yankee Stadium. But it's one that has worked for Bello, who owns a 0.66 ERA in 13 ⅔ innings since returning to the big leagues, allowing one earned run on nine hits in that span while posting a 13-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
"He's thrown great in the outings he's had since he has been back," said interim manager Chad Tracy.
After yet another disastrous first inning on June 4 against the Orioles, the Red Sox sent Bello (and his 6.34 ERA) to the minors for an optional ******* ignment that would have been unthinkable during a breakout 2025 season. The goal was to get him in a rhythm and work on getting right away from the pressure of the major leagues.

LOS ANGELES — Minutes after getting hit in the helmet by a 95 mph fastball in the second inning Friday, Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras left the game.
Contreras took a Will Klein pitch to the head with one out in the inning, then ran the bases and scored but did not come back out for defense in the bottom of the frame. The Red Sox shifted Nick Sogard from second base to first base to replace Contreras and inserted Anthony Seigler at second.
According to the Red Sox, Contreras departed for "precautionary reasons."
Klein, pitching with two men on base, brushed Contreras back with a high inside fastball at 95.3 mph to start the at-bat. Two pitches later, he hit the slugger right in the side of the helmet at 95.4 mph. Contreras went down to the dirt but got up as interim manager Chad Tracy and a team trainer came out to visit him.
The Red Sox then plated two runs off lefty Cole Irvin to took an early 3-0 lead behind All-Star starter Ranger Suarez.

WEST SACRAMENTO — Red Sox left fielder Roman Anthony restarted his hitting progression on Wednesday after being shut down for approximately nine weeks.
The 22-year-old tore a ligament under his right ring finger while swinging during an at-bat in Detroit on May 4.
He initially resumed hitting but his progression was halted on May 28, when he felt discomfort in his injured hand while hitting off a tee.
"Roman has started swinging a bat. Off a tee, short flips, there's some of that action going on," interim manager Chad Tracy said before Boston's game against the Athletics on Thursday. "It's mainly up to about 30 swings at this time and he's doing well."
Anthony has been rehabbing at the Red Sox' JetBlue Park Complex in Fort Myers since early July.

Otto Lopez, Gleyber Torres Among Infielders Connected to Red Sox Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
When the Red Sox acquired Curtis Mead from the Nationals, they helped boost their lineup ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline. However, Mead's injury in his Boston debut may have changed the team's deadline plans once again.
On Thursday, interim manager Chad Tracy said Mead's "non-displaced fracture" in his left wrist will not require surgery, so the Red Sox won't be ruling him out for the rest of the season, per MLB.com. Still, his injury means that another infield acquisition could be in play for Boston.
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Will Sammon and Katie Woo reported Friday that the team is eyeing "additional infield help," including some former All-Star names.
The Red Sox have expressed interest in Marlins infielders Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards, per The Athletic. With the Red Sox reportedly eyeing a shortstop, either player could be capable of playing the position.

Tony Romo has been placed on leave by CBS Sports "until further notice" following his July 23 arrest in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
J.J. Watt will replace Romo during the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback's absence and work alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.
Romo, 46, was stopped going southbound on I-43 and "performed poorly on SFSTs (standard field sobriety tests)," according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office's arrest report.
He has a court date set for Sept. 21.
Romo has been CBS Sports' lead NFL ***** yst since 2017 following his retirement from the league. He spent his entire 13-year playing career with the Dallas Cowboys, rising from an undrafted free agent to a four-time Pro Bowl selection and the franchise's all-time leader in touchdown passes.

CBS Sports placed Tony Romo on leave Friday morning, "until further notice," in its first public statement since his OWI arrest in Milwaukee last week
"Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice," the network said in a statement.
Awful Announcing has learned that JJ Watt will join Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson as the network's lead NFL broadcast team during Romo's absence, with CBS set to release the rest of its NFL on CBS roster at a later date.
Boomer Esiason told his radio audience barely a day earlier that he didn't expect CBS to comment on the situation at all, a read that lined up with how the network had handled things all week. The Daily Mail had reported days earlier that CBS executives had already closed ranks around Romo, with one source telling the outlet, "I don't want to act like it's not a big deal, because it is. But it's not going to get him fired." A second characterized the arrest as a "lapse in judgment" rather than anything approaching a fireable offense, noting Romo had reached out to his bosses almost the moment it happened.
Romo was pulled over on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee County on the night of July 23, hours after competing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship, and taken into custody after performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests. Body camera footage of the stop later surfaced on TMZ, including Romo's own reaction to the test results.

DAYTONA BEACH — Naismith Hall of Famer, Daytona Beach native and Mainland High School graduate Vince Carter played professional basketball for a long time. Like, a really long time.
Carter's 22-year career from 1998-2020 is the second-longest in the history of the NBA, having just been exceeded by LeBron James during the 2025-26 season.
The eight-time All-Star and dunk extraordinaire called it quits after the COVID-shortened 2020 season and transferred to another career he'd been building for years — sports broadcasting.
In 2025, Carter became a studio ****** yst for NBC alongside fellow All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady.
Broadcasting has been a natural second act for retired professional athletes because they tend to know a lot about the sport they dedicated their lives to. It was an avenue Carter had already been eyeing for his post-NBA life, only for it to get postponed with each season he returned.

Warren Beatty may have stepped away from the Hollywood spotlight, but a source exclusively tells Examiner that he's been closely following his and Annette Bening's daughter Ella's burgeoning acting career from home.
"Ella hasn't had a massive hit yet, but she's steadily winning roles in highly competitive situations and even more importantly, people are noticing that she actually delivers when she gets one of these parts," the source says.
According to the source, even though Beatty, 89, rarely mingles in Hollywood circles, he still keeps track of Ella's accomplishments.
"As reclusive as he's been for a while, word still gets back to Warren when Ella manages to impress a producer or a studio executive," the source continues. "The filmmakers who work with her really do see her as a natural like her mom, Annette."
The source adds that it's "been a weird time for the family" since the ***** Tracy star began to "pull back from the Hollywood scene over the last few years." However, Ella's "slow, steady rise has been a bright spot."

The LeBron James free agency frenzy finally concluded on Friday.
The 41-year-old future Hall-of-Famer announced on social media that he is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he'll join former MVP Joel Embiid and perennial All-Stars Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown, who the team acquired from the Celtics earlier this month.
That forms a pretty strong core in the City of Brotherly Love, and former NBA star Vince Carter — a Hall of Famer in his own right — doesn't think the league is ready for it.
"That's cheating," Carter said of Philadelphia adding James on "Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady. "That's cheating if he goes there, because he doesn't have to do much to still be him. Now, your fifth starter has to guard (one of the 76ers' other stars)."
Despite his age, James remains a productive player. In 60 regular-season appearances last season, he averaged 33.2 minutes along with 20.9 points, 7.2 ******* ists and 6.1 rebounds. Now, with a strong supporting cast around him, Carter is putting the league on notice.

Tony Romo, CBS Sports's No. 1 NFL game **** yst, was arrested in Milwaukee on Thursday for OWI (Operating While Intoxicated).
According to the arrest report obtained by Fox6 Milwaukee, the former Cowboys quarterback was pulled over while driving on Interstate 43. The 46-year-old Romo was taken into custody after "performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests." He's due in court on Monday, Sep. 21.
Romo's arrest comes just weeks before the start of the 2026 NFL season. Given the star power of Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Romo is likely to call the Bills-Texans Week 1 game on Sunday, Sep. 13 with play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.
After quarterbacking the Cowboys for 14 seasons, Romo joined CBS in 2017 and immediately became the network's No. 1 game **** yst, succeeding veteran Phil Simms. Romo quickly became a TV sensation, with viewers dubbing him "Romostradamus" for his uncanny ability to predict play calls just before they played out on the field.
But Romo has faced mounting criticism for his on-air performance in recent seasons. CBS also has a strong No. 2 team with JJ Watt and Ian Eagle.

WORCESTER — While Chad Tracy sat inside his office at Polar Park around 5 p.m. on April 25, the former WooSox manager made a rare call to his wife, Emily, during the middle of a Triple-A game.
Drenched in sweat and coated in mulch from her fingertips to toes, Emily, who was in the middle of landscaping the front yard of their home in Fairfield, Ohio, answered the phone.
"I said, 'Darn, what did you get kicked out of the game for?'" Emily recalled. "He said, 'Em, are you sitting down?' You start to go into panic mode that something bad happened. But he told me a plane was coming to pick him up that night to go manage (the Boston Red Sox) in Baltimore the next day.
"I was speechless."
Nearly four hours after telling his wife he'd been named interim manager of the Boston Red Sox, Tracy rolled a black suitcase through the lower bowel of Polar Park and left to board a plane headed for Baltimore.

The Boston Red Sox tied their 80-year-old franchise record with a 15th straight Major League Baseball win on Wednesday, but couldn't go one better as they fell in the second game of a double-header.
Boston topped the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 at Fenway Park to notch their 15th straight Major League Baseball win.
That tied the club record set in 1946 by a team led by Hall of Famer Ted Williams.
The streak then ended with a 5-1 loss to the Orioles in the nightcap.
"I think everybody knew it was going to end at some point," Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said.

Rumors about how Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer conduct themselves away from the ballpark have made their rounds on social media.
They only escalated after Anthony’s rehab was moved to Fort Myers and many wondered if it was due to punishment and not a crowded Red Sox clubhouse.
Does Chad Tracy have any concerns about the duo when they’re not at the park?
“Zero,” the Red Sox interim manager said on WEEI. “Not even remotely on my radar. Not something we’ve even talked about in here. I’ve tried to say here publicly the last couple days. I know that gets a lot of attention. Roman in particular is like, I’ve said it publicly: I want Roman healthy and I want Roman back. Roman’s a great baseball player. He’s a ******* of a hitter. And he can help us. But, a ******* of a hitter with two hands. Not with one. So, we have to get him healthy.”
Anthony has been dealing with a tricky hand injury since May. The outfielder tore a ligament at the base of his finger during an at-bat and hasn’t begun swinging yet.

Red Sox should remove Chad Tracy’s interim tag after season-changing turnaround originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
In a few moments, the Boston Red Sox have a chance to make franchise history, as they try to set the record for the longest win streak, by sweeping the Baltimore Orioles for their 16th win in a row.
Boston is now 52-48, and a contender in the American League. However, if you looked at where they were in mid-April, you would think this would be impossible. So what changed? Boston fired their 2018 World Series and Manager of the Year skipper Alex Cora, and replaced him with their AAA Worcester manager, Chad Tracy.

To start the season, the Sox did awfully under Cora. They were 10-17, had a team OPS of .667, and a team ERA of 4.44.

BOSTON — As the Red Sox try to match a franchise record by extending their winning streak to 15 victories on Tuesday, they’ll welcome one of their All-Stars back to the mound after a brief injured list stint.
Lefty Ranger Suarez will be activated from the IL to pitch Tuesday against the Orioles, interim manager Chad Tracy said after a 6-5 victory in which Caleb Durbin was the hero. The corresponding roster move is unknown. Suarez came out of a pregame workout — which included playing catch and doing some fielding drills on the mound — well enough to be activated.
Suarez last pitched July 5 in Anaheim, when he left after 2 ⅔ innings of a 7-5 Red Sox win with left adductor tightness. He tried to complete his between-starts work in hopes of feeling good enough to make his next start but three days later was placed on the IL. Because of the All-Star break, Suarez’s 15-day injured list stint meant he missed just one start, a game in which Eduardo Rivera started and the Red Sox beat the Mets on July 11.
BETTING: Red Sox moneyline is set at -136 on FanDuel for Tuesday night’s game versus the Orioles. Our complete FanDuel Sportsbook review provides an in-depth guide on how to use their app.
Rivera, who started Friday against Tampa Bay, is a candidate to be sent down to make room for Suarez on the active roster, as is righty Brayan Bello, who returned from a month-plus stint in Triple-A to pitch well on July 12 against the Mets but has been in limbo since. Between the majors and Triple-A, Bello has made just two appearances — a five-inning start for the WooSox on July 1 and his 4 ⅓ inning outing for the Red Sox in New York — since June 25.

There are a lot of new faces, but the talent level remains high for the defensive backfield. Daryus Dixson figures to jump into a starting spot at cornerback after playing in all 13 games in 2025. Audavion Collins and Zion Tracy should compete for the other starting spot. It would not surprise me to see them split snaps, and Tracy has experience as a nickel corner if Penn State chooses to run 4-2-5 schemes. The depth is a bit of a question mark, but Terry Smith has plenty of talent to work with.
Two Iowa State transfers- Marcus Neal and Jeremiah Cooper- will fill the void at safety left behind by Zakee Wheatley and King Mack. Neal has received significant NFL Draft attention for 2027 and has All-Big Ten potential after a breakout 2025 season. Cooper is a solid playmaker against the pass, though he is coming off an injury.
With no Ohio State, Oregon, or Indiana on the schedule, Penn State does not face many overwhelming passing offenses this year. USC and Washington should be the toughest tests for the secondary, and one of them is at Beaver Stadium.
Losing Tony Rojas to injury was not the deciding factor in Penn State’s 2025 meltdown, but his absence was felt immediately. Rojas tore his ACL after the Oregon game, and the Nittany Lions immediately gave up 42 points to UCLA the following game. He is a dynamic playmaker against the run and pass and the unquestioned leader of a rebuilt Penn State linebacker corps. There are a lot of questions around Penn State’s front seven, so Rojas’ health will be vital to the success of this defense. If he returns to form, the Nittany Lions should have one of the top linebackers in the conference.
Penn State is on its fifth defensive coordinator in the last six seasons, but D’Anton Lynn’s track record speaks for itself. He inherited a UCLA defense that finished No. 87 in total defense in 2022 and elevated them to No. 10 in 2023. When Lincoln Riley poached him away to coach the defense at USC, he took a Trojans defense that was a complete disaster when he arrived and made them serviceable immediately. Hiring Lynn appears to be a good fit for 2026 Penn State. With new players at all three levels of the defense and roughly half of last season’s production gone, the Nittany Lions need someone who can provide results on defense right away. The schedule is favorable and there are enough veteran players on the roster to make the transition smooth for Lynn.

NEW YORK — The Red Sox will unplug the struggling Jarren Duran from the outfield — but not the lineup — as they finish the unofficial first half of their season at Citi Field on Sunday.
With left-hander Zach Thornton pitching for the Mets, the Red Sox will start Nate Eaton in left field and have Duran serve as the designated hitter for the seventh time this season. Saturday hero Andruw Monasterio is the shortstop with Romy Gonzalez back in the lineup at first base. Connor Wong is doing the catching.
Interim manager Chad Tracy opted to go with Duran at DH over Masataka Yoshida, who homered in Saturday's 4-0 win. Duran has hit just .217 with a .606 OPS against lefties this year, which is actually better than his .186 average against right-handers. So far in July, Duran is hitting just .167 with a double and a homer in eight games.
On the mound, lefty Payton Tolle will get his 15th start of the season, but Tracy hinted that the Red Sox plan to give him a shorter outing than usual with righty Brayan Bello, who was recalled earlier in the day, serving as a potential piggyback option. It's clear Boston is hopeful that it can get Tolle some extra rest as the All-Star break approaches.
The Red Sox have won a season-high eight games in a row to start their nine-game road trip, which concludes Sunday. They enter the day winners of 16 of their last 21 games and are now just a half-game out of a wild card spot in the American League. After Sunday's matinee, they will have four days off for the All-Star break before resuming play with a doubleheader against the Rays on Friday at Fenway.

Now that the 2026 NBA playoffs are in the rearview mirror, I think we can safely crown the 2026 Western Conference Finals as the most epic series clash. Sure, the eventual NBA champion actually became the New York Knicks — despite being contrary to popular belief.
But the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs went the distance in a series that featured the NBA's top two teams all year. Both were 60-win juggernauts that blew teams out left and right. When they faced off, it was a meeting of NBA heavyweights — ala The Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania.
In a Feb. 2026 podcast clip with Dylan Harper that has recently gone viral, what he said on Vince Carter's and Tracy McGrady's 'Cousins' podcast aged like fine wine. Of course, the 20-year-old popped off in the NBA playoffs. He was arguably San Antonio's second-best player in their run to the NBA Finals.
Harper's old comments resurfaced as he pinpointed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams as two of their toughest defensive ******* ignments. The Spurs took four of five over the Thunder in the regular season, but a lot of caveats filled those matchups thanks to injuries.
"Shai and Jalen Williams from OKC," Harper said. "When we first played them, we beat them. But I was like, 'Them two kinda hard to guard.'"

The UFC 329 preliminary fight card featured a women's flyweight bout between Top 10 ranked contenders Tracy Cortez and ****** Cong.
Cortez entered the bout ranked No. 8 in the division. The 32 year-old was looking to rebound from a loss in her last outing to No. 4 ranked Erin Blanchfield. She changed gyms and moved to Mexico City to prepare for Saturday's matchup.
Cong made the walk to the octagon inside T-Mobile Arena ranked No. 10 in the weight class and riding a three-fight winning streak. The Chinese rising star was hoping to build on the momentum.
Cortez pressed forward and took the fight to Cong in the early going. Cong connected with a right hand followed by a leg kick. They traded right hands. Cong delivered a calf kick that briefly knocked Cortez off her feet. Cong continued to target the legs of Cortez. Cortez stepped in the pocket with a stiff right hand. Cortez' lead leg was showing the damage. Cortez closed the distance and clinched. She briefly secured a takedown. Cong immediately got to her feet fending off a guillotine choke attempt in the process. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Cong.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Boston Red Sox, grounded for nearly 24 hours due to a pair of mechanical issues on their team plane, finally arrived at Citi Field on Friday afternoon, a little more than two hours before the scheduled first pitch of their series opener against the New York Mets.
The Red Sox got to the ballpark at 5:05 p.m. EDT, and the start of the game was pushed back by 35 minutes to 7:50 p.m.
"We're here," reliever Garrett Whitlock said, sitting in the dugout and sporting a tired smile.
The Red Sox expected to depart from Chicago on Thursday night, a few hours after they beat the White Sox 2-1 for their sixth straight win. But pitcher Peyton Tolle said the "tug" — which tows the planes around the runway — was malfunctioning.
The Red Sox remained on the tarmac until after midnight, at which point they went to a pair of hotels in Chicago. The team returned to the aircraft Friday morning but was delayed again by what interim manager Chad Tracy described as issues with "switches or light bulbs in the ****** pit."

UFC 329 is live this Saturday (July 11, 2026) from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV and streamed exclusively on Paramount+ (watch here). The main event needs little introduction. It's Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2, a rematch thirteen years in the making (but at Welterweight, not Featherweight). This is our first time seeing McGregor since 2021, but the lead up to this one has felt very different from past McGregor fight weeks.
Saturday's co-main is Benoit Saint Denis vs. Paddy Pimblett in the Lightweight division. Rounding out the stacked main card is Cory Sandhagen vs. Mario Bautista, Bandon Royval vs. Lone'er Kavanagh and King Green vs. Terrance McKinney.
The "Prelims" are pretty stacked, too. They are headlined by Robert Whittaker vs. Nikita Krylov. There's also Luke Rileyvs. Kai Kamaka III, Cody Garbrandt vs. Adrian Yanez and the debut of Gable Steveson. He fights Elisha Ellison.
The early "Prelims" are headlined by Tracy Cortez vs. ***** Cong. There's also Damian Pinas vs. Cesar Almeida down there.
As always, there's lots to bet on this card and we've got odds for all the fights below:
