The Baltimore Ravens are just one game away from real football. Tonight at 6 p.m. ET, they will take on the Washington Commanders in their preseason finale with 53-man roster cuts due just 48 hours later. Here are the team's biggest remaining questions heading into today's game:
A season-ending injury to Danny Pinter turned the Ravens' starting center competition into a two-man race between Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic. The former has been praised for his athleticism, while the latter brings experience and leadership that could be valuable in a new offensive scheme.
The battle is neck-and-neck. The division of reps tonight will be a key marker, as Pocic's ramp-up from last season's Achilles tear has limited his time with his potential fellow starters. If Gwyn still gets all of the first-team snaps, he likely has the job sewn up. But the Ravens could mix Pocic in with the first team, indicating the competition is still undecided, or even start him outright, suggesting he has surged ahead.
The Ravens historically retain at least one undrafted rookie on their 53-man roster. Last year, they kept three. But with two of those players returning and plenty of depth across the squad, there may not be room this time around. Outside linebacker Ethan Burke, offensive tackle Diego Pounds, and quarterback Joe ****** nano have all made strong cases, but will the Ravens move on from Adisa Isaac, Carson Vinson, or another player to accommodate them?
All three of those players have already stood out in the preseason, so it might take an undeniable performance tonight vs. the Commanders to secure a roster spot.

The Baltimore Ravens received some unexpected news last week when veteran offensive tackle Kendall Lamm elected to retire. That decision removed an experienced presence from the offensive line room and immediately created additional opportunities for younger players fighting to establish themselves.
Two of those players may have already begun making their case. When Jesse Minter spoke with reporters Monday, he was asked about the performances of tackles Carson Vinson and Gerad Lichtenhan following Baltimore's 24-7 preseason-opening victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. His response suggested the Ravens liked what they saw from both young linemen.
"I thought both [Carson Vinson and Gerad Lichtenhan] really acquitted themselves well. They played a ton of snaps. They really got an opportunity to play a majority of the game."
That alone would have been encouraging for two players trying to earn larger roles. What stood out, however, was how Minter described the quality of their work.
The Ravens didn't simply need Vinson and Lichtenhan to survive extended action against Philadelphia. They needed them to show they could handle it. According to their head coach, that's exactly what they did.

The Baltimore Ravens placed veteran offensive tackle Kendall Lamm on the reserve/retired list Friday, ending his brief tenure with the organization.
Baltimore signed Lamm on Aug. 5 after Hakeem Adeniji was placed on the reserve/retired list. The Ravens hoped the 34-year-old could provide experience behind starting tackles Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten, but Lamm stepped away before appearing in a preseason game for the team.
Lamm played 11 NFL seasons after entering the league as an undrafted free agent from Appalachian State in 2015. He appeared for the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee **** ans and Miami Dolphins, providing experience at both tackle positions. He spent the previous four seasons with Miami and appeared in 13 games last year.
His departure leaves Baltimore evaluating its tackle depth again. Carson Vinson enters his second season after being selected in the fifth round of the 2025 draft, while Gerad Lichtenhan and undrafted rookie Diego Pounds are also competing for reserve positions. Emery Jones Jr. offers additional flexibility as a guard-tackle option.
The Ravens have now placed two veteran tackles on the reserve/retired list since training camp began. Adeniji stepped away eight days after signing, and Lamm's stay lasted little more than a week.

Reports are growing that Como will improve their opening €20m offer for Galatasaray and Colombia international defender Davinson Sanchez.
There had already been Italian suggestions that the Lariani had turned towards the experienced centre-back, who turns 31 this weekend, after backing off Chelsea man Trevoh Chalobah.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Como have already made an opening proposal to Galatasaray worth a total of around €20m including add-ons.
That might not be sufficient, as the Turkish side is holding out for closer to €25-30m, especially after his impressive 2026 World Cup campaign with Colombia.

Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel won “Superior Player of the Match” as Switzerland advanced to the quarter-final with a penalty shootout win over Colombia. Murat Yakin's side will face holders Argentina in Switzerland's first appearance in the last eight since their home tournament in 1954.
Although chances were far and few between, both sides had decent opportunities to win the hard-fought encounter before it went into penalties. In particular, Kobel shone with his athleticism keeping Luis Díaz and Colombia scoreless for 120 minutes.
Yann Sommer's long-time understudy also made a crucial stop from Cucho Hernandez in the shootout after Davinson Sanchez and his former BVB teammate Manuel Akanji failed to hit their targets. Ex-Augsburg winger Ruben Vargas scored the final kick to send Switzerland through to the next round.
Colombia have only conceded one goal, which was in the 3-1 victory over pointless Uzbekistan, but their tournament is now coming to a close. Néstor Lorenzo’s side are the only ones to play games at the stadiums of all three host countries.
The quarter-final will commence on Thursday as the tournament takes a one-day break for the first time since the opening fixture last month. Six of the teams left in the competition are from Europe, with Morocco and holders Argentina the exceptions. Switzerland will hope SC Freiburg's Johan Manzambi recovers in time for the game against the defending champions.

Ruben Vargas converted his penalty and Switzerland advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals with a 4-3 shootout win over Colombia after a scoreless draw on Tuesday.
Switzerland will next face defending champion Argentina on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Argentina defeated Egypt 3-2 earlier in the day.
Switzerland had not reached the quarterfinals of a World Cup since hosting the tournament in 1954. And the Swiss were shorthanded Tuesday without young midfielder Johan Manzambi, who was injured in training on Monday.
Vargas, who has scored two goals in the World Cup, also left Monday’s training early but was available off the bench and came on in stoppage time at the end of regulation.
Colombia defender Davinson Sanchez’s penalty attempt hit the crossbar and Switzerland goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved an attempt by Cucho Hernandez.

Switzerland reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in 72 years with a 4-3 victory on penalties over Colombia on Tuesday in the concluding round of 16 match.
Ruben Vargas converted the deciding spot-kick after team-mate Manuel Akanji missed for the third time in a shoot-out, but Colombia had Davinson Sánchez hit the underside of the bar and Cucho Hernandez's effort saved by Gregor Kobel.
Captain Granit Xhaka, Zeki Amdouni and Cedric Itten converted the other penalties for the Swiss to reach the last eight for the first time since the 1954 home tournament.
There they will face Lionel Messi's defending champions Argentina who rallied from 2-0 down after 78 minutes to beat Egypt 3-2.
The match was goalless after 120 minutes, with chances sparse in a duel mainly fought out in midfield before Colombia had the better ones, both in extra-time.

Colombia finished top of World Cup Group K after playing out a highly-entertaining end-to-end 0-0 draw with Portugal on Saturday.
Colombia will feel hard done by nevertheless as a marginal offside ruled out a late goal by Davinson Sanchez.
The Colombians will play Ghana in the last 32 next Friday, while runners-up Portugal will see Cristiano Ronaldo face his old Real Madrid teammate Croatian icon Luka Modric on Thursday.
However, Ronaldo was a peripheral presence in the fast-paced match, outshone by another former Real teammate, 34-year-old James Rodriguez.
The game watched by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and FIFA President Gianni Infantino was played to the backdrop of a cacophony of noise from Colombian fans.

Ruben Dias saw out the full 90 minutes as Portugal held on to a 0-0 draw against Colombia despite late drama on Saturday night.
Colombia secured top spot in Group K after battling to an entertaining 0-0 draw against Portugal in Miami, leaving Roberto Martínez’s side to settle for the runner-up position. Despite being Los Cafeteros’ first scoreless stalemate in 25 World Cup matches, the encounter delivered non-stop drama.
Freshly introduced starter Jhon Córdoba caused early chaos, flashing a header over the crossbar before forcing a magnificent one-handed save from Diogo Costa. Portugal gradually found their footing as the first half progressed, with Camilo Vargas producing a point-blank stop to deny Bruno Fernandes, while a largely peripheral Cristiano Ronaldo struggled to make an impact.
The second-half narrative belonged entirely to Colombia’s relentless waves of attack, with Richard Ríos and Gustavo Puerta both coming agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock. After Luis Suárez hooked a major opportunity over an open goal, the South Americans appeared to have **** ed a dramatic 90th-minute winner when Davinson Sánchez powered home a header.
However, a VAR and **** istant referee review determined the defender’s boot was offside by a microscopic fraction, cruelly wiping the goal off the board.

There’s already controversy! The final outcome in Group K ended with an incredible goal ruled out for Colombia, which did not go on the scoreboard because of an offside position.
Davinson Sánchez made it 1-0 in the closing minutes of the second half, but his goal didn’t count—by a fingernail!
This was the image they gave us of the offside, and it’s already dividing opinions, as some believe the goal should have stood for the Colombian side.
Fortunately for Colombia, the result against Portugal did not affect their hopes of reaching the round of 16, which they advanced to as group leaders.
