Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas — who lost the Lone Star State GOP attorney general primary runoff in May and will depart the U.S. House of Representatives when his current term expires — said Republicans have "delivered significantly" but "need to finish the job."
"Well, we've done so much that frankly, it kinda gets lost in a lot of the noise," Roy told Fox News Digital during an interview on Wednesday, pointing to issues such as tax provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed by President Donald Trump last year.
The Texan pointed to the nation's border as the "biggest example" of Republicans' achievements, saying that "we've literally shut down the flow across the border" through enforcing the law.

I hope you all had a nice Labor Day holiday! The Twins did not, dropping the first game of a three-game series to the Tigers in Joe Ryan's return from the injured list. In the previous week, the team went overall 3-3, taking a series 2-1 against the Tigers and then dropping a series 1-2 to the White Sox. They are now 8 games below .500, and 4.5 games outside of the final wild card spot. While there's a chance, it's growing more slim to play October baseball and frankly, their playoff chances are not completely in their own hands. So let's just try to enjoy this last month of baseball!

Just seven days from now, the 2026 NFL season will officially begin for our Minnesota Vikings, as they will host the Green Bay Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium. That means the offseason is officially over, and we asked you as part of our SB Nation Reacts survey for this week exactly what you thought about it. We have those results, and for the most part it appears that folks were relatively happy with how things went.
Of those who took the time to respond to our survey, 45% gave the offseason a "B" grade, which is pretty good. Combine that with the 7% that graded it as an "A," and over half of our respondents think that the purple had a better-than-average offseason overall. Another 34% thought that the moves the team made merited a "C" grade, which is an average mark. So, the overwhelming majority of you seem to think that the offseason in Minnesota wasn't anything approaching a disaster or anything like that.
Still, a few of the people who responded were more on the "gloom and doom" end of the spectrum. There were 11% of the people who responded to the poll that gave the Vikings a "D" for their offseason moves, while the remaining 3% went as negative as possible and slapped a big ol' "F" on what the Vikings have done since the 2025 season came to an end. That seems a little harsh, but everyone is free to have their own perspective on things.
Frankly, I think a "B" is just about right. I think the Vikings addressed a lot of the things they needed to address. Hopefully the quarterback issue is solved, and if it is this team has a lot of potential to do some damage in 2026. The defense should continue to be a menace as long as there aren't too many injuries. Will it be enough to make a run in what should still be the most competitive division in the NFL? We'll have to see.

Western Michigan isn't blaming Big Ten officials for their decision to add a second back to the clock ahead of Michigan's Hail Mary.
Broncos head coach Lance Taylor and school president Russ Kavalhuna had a news conference Sunday afternoon to explain their school's side of Michigan's improbable 13-12 win. After the Wolverines' first Hail Mary attempt fell incomplete with seemingly no time remaining, the Big Ten's replay review officials added a second back to the clock as they determined that WMU defensive back Micah Davis jumped from out of bounds and touched the ball before time expired.
On UM's second try, Bryce Underwood hit JJ Buchanan for the game-winning touchdown.
Kavalhuna admitted Sunday that he wanted to appeal the decision in the moment, but realized that there was no way to do so. And he said that after further investigations and discussions with Big Ten commissioner Tony Pettitti and the conference's replay staff, there was a slight difference between the clock on NBC's broadcast and the official game clock used by the Big Ten.
"It is just a discrepancy," Kavalhuna said. "I would say what the viewing public see and the officials see are different. And that's clear. I will say, I've looked into this pretty closely and I used to be a federal prosecutor — I don't discern anything unfair or untoward in this process. Can the process be improved by having what the viewing public see as what the reviewing officials see? Maybe. Frankly that's not for me to decide.

With 99 career punt returns in the NFL, which includes a hefty 11.6 yards-per-return average in 2025, Dortch's presence on the Bills (practice squad) roster does in fact mean Buffalo now has an experienced punt returner.
And for as much as this signing feels like a savvy move born from special-teams desperation, I'm sneaky into Dortch as a supplemental receiving weapon within the Bills offense this season.

According to a Wednesday, September 2, report in journalist Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack, Princess Diana's younger brother, Charles Spencer, offered the Sussexes the possibility of living at the Spencer family's Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire.

Tesla is pretty quiet in pre-market trading, down just a touch, but this is a market that had seen a big surge higher on Friday and has basically filled the gap from the previous earnings call that spooked everybody with the cap ex numbers. But quite frankly, spending more in capital expenditure is a longer-term growth strategy, and it looks like the market's starting to think about that.
The 200-day EMA sits at the $383.18 level. That'll be an area worth watching. We are getting fairly close to that gap opening, which was at $369, so interesting chart.
The market for Amazon looks like it is slightly positive in early trading as we bounce from the 50% Fibonacci retracement level. The 50-day EMA sits just below there, and that could offer a little bit of technical support as well. We had gapped higher during the last earnings report, but we've had concerns with some economic numbers about the health of the US consumer.
Whether or not that remains a thing, we'll just have to wait and see. Obviously, Amazon is a huge place where the US consumer shows up, so interesting. But at the end of the day, this is an explosive gap higher, a pullback. The question is: will we see a bit of a follow-through move to the upside?
Finally, Microsoft looks like it is going to be basically right where it closed during the Friday session, holding those gains. That's a good sign. We recently have had the ex-dividend date, and that will be something that is in the rearview mirror. But Microsoft had an excellent earnings call, and now we've recently seen the golden cross where the 50-day EMA breaks above the 200-day EMA to get technical traders excited as well.

Kroger CEO Gregory Foran has been open about the fact that many of his chain's stores need work.
"Our operating costs have been growing faster than our sales. That's not sustainable. And frankly, it's not acceptable. Taking costs out of this business is not optional. It's the starting point for everything else we want to do," he said during the chain's first-quarter earnings call.
He also made it clear that many Kroger locations are not well run.
"The way we operate behind the stores needs to improve. We need to move faster, make decisions more quickly, and get more out of the ******* ets and the talent we already have," he added.
Those are problems that won't be easily solved because of how the chain has opted to spend its money. Kroger has also been dealing with falling in-store customer counts, and that may be a problem the chain caused itself.

However, ESPN's Mike Clay named the Rams' TE room as the 30th-ranked in the NFL, ahead of only two teams. It's a surprisingly low ranking, and one that, quite frankly, doesn't make much sense.

Just hours after Carlos Sainz shocked the paddock by signing a multi-year contract extension to remain at Atlassian Williams through 2027, team principal James Vowles is shedding light on exactly how he convinced his star driver to stay.
The 2026 season has been an undeniable struggle for the Grove-based outfit. Currently languishing in eighth place in the Constructors' Championship with just 11 points, the team's FW48 chassis was severely delayed and heavily overweight, exposing the outdated internal design processes Vowles inherited. Despite these massive setbacks—and a frankly bleak outlook for the rest of the year—both Sainz and his teammate Alex Albon have bought into the long-term vision.
Rather than sugarcoating the team's current predicament, Vowles is taking full accountability for the botched winter development cycle.
Following a highly disappointing British Grand Prix where a fast-tracked front wing upgrade failed to push Williams up the grid, Sainz openly expressed his worries about the team's correlation data. Addressing those frustrations, Vowles told the media (at the Dutch GP) that the upgrade did work, but it wasn't enough to mask the car's foundational flaws.

The Green Bay Packers' offensive line has become a constant topic of conversation in recent seasons, as the coaches relentlessly mix and match their linemen with the goal of finding the best combination.
Entering training camp this year, it seemed reasonably cut and dry, with Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Anthony Belton and Zach Bako-Bewele expected to be the starting five.
Instead, it has turned into a legitimate competition at both guard spots, and Belton, a second-round pick from last year, seems to be fighting an uphill battle to win the right guard job over rookie fifth-round pick Jager Burton and former fifth-rounder Jacob Monk.
Green Bay's coaches have talked plenty about how Belton's acclimation to the guard position as a rookie was not helped by repping almost exclusively at tackle throughout camp, and the idea was that this summer he would get a proper runway on the interior.
That has not really happened. Mostly due to Bako-Bewele working his way back from injury, Belton has again spent much of camp at right tackle, and quite frankly, has struggled.

BOSTON — Maybe it was just his own natural enthusiasm speaking, but shortstop Trevor Story, when asked about a timetable to return from a rehab stint that was exactly one game old, said returning for the start of the team's weekend series Friday was a "possibility.'
For the sake of everyone involved, let's hope not.
That's no slight at Story, among the most accountable and conscientious players the Red Sox have had in years.
But after being out since mid-May, it's frankly ludicrous that Story would be ready to hit big league pitching after a rehab **** ignment that lasted, at most, four games in the minors.
Players are naturally eager to return to play as soon as possible. That goes double for Story, who, through no fault of his own, has had lengthy stays on the Injured List in four of his first five seasons with the Red Sox.

In a back garden in the middle of Lincoln, Rob Bradley is building his own mini-football stand.
He shows off four bright-red plastic seats purchased from Sincil Bank, where his beloved Lincoln City have played since 1895.
This summer, the Imps, as they are known, have ploughed £10m into refurbishing the ground as they prepare to play in the Championship for the first time since 1961.
Fans were offered a chance to buy some of the old seats.
"I saw an advert for seats for sale from the ground, which is something, frankly, I've always wanted," says Rob, a fan for 70 years.

Although the Cubs' pitching staff is a lot deeper than it was before the trade deadline, the Cubs had hoped Edward Cabrera's return would provide a boost. Cabrera has been shelved since June with a left hamstring strain; before that, he missed two weeks at the end of May with a right middle finger blister.
In the starts Cabrera has made for the Cubs this season, he's underwhelmed. A 5.04 ERA and a dropoff in his strikeout rate was not what the Cubs traded for last winter, when they sent top outfield prospect Owen Caissie, along with two other minor leaguers, to the Marlins.
Cabrera is capable of being the kind of starting pitcher who can round out a strong playoff rotation, but with less than 40 regular season games remaining, he needs to show that he's the guy the Cubs thought they were getting.
"Frankly, we're at go time here," manager Craig Counsell said. "So I think you got to go. We're at a stage where with the people around the roster that it's go time. And I think Edward [Cabrera] understands that."
Facing the Cardinals on Sunday, Cabrera didn't do much to inspire confidence. It took until just the third batter of the game for St. Louis to claim the lead. Cabrera gave up a leadoff double to JJ Wetherholt, and two batters later Alec Burleson launched a 421-foot rocket into the right field bleachers.

Jeff Monken does not feel comfortable comparing himself to the immortal Army football head coach Earl 'Red' Blaik, whose career wins record at West Point has stood firm for 68 years.
With a new five-year contract (through the 2030 season) agreed to this past week, the reality is Monken, 59, is now within reach of the heralded mark. Blaik posted 121 wins (and 33 losses, with 10 ties) over 18 war-torn seasons (1941-58). As he heads into his 13th season with the Black Knights, Monken has posted 89 wins and needs just 33 victories to surpass the Hall of Famer Blaik. An average of just over six wins per season would make that possible, hardly a stretch for Monken teams that have achieved at least a half-dozen wins in all but three seasons.
"I'm thrilled to be here," Monken said following Saturday's first of three preseason scrimmages at Michie Stadium. "I'm honored and proud to serve these men, this institution, and represent the men and women that serve in the Army. And I'm thankful to our superintendent, Lt. General (Steve) Gilland; Tom Theodorakis, our athletics director, and frankly, my representatives who really worked it out."
Monken has been coaching collegiately (save for a high school season in 1995) since 1989, serving as an ****** istant at Hawaii, Arizona State, Buffalo, Concordia, Ill., Georgia Southern, Navy and Georgia Tech. His first head coaching job was at Georgia Southern (2010-13) before arriving at West Point in 2014.
He transformed an Army program that reached just seven wins twice and had 19 losing seasons since 1989 into a postseason contender. The Black Knights have won six of seven bowl appearances (including the last three) since 2016, Monken's third year on the job. A high-water mark certainly came in 2024 when quarterback Bryson Daily guided Army to a school-record 12 wins, a top-25 AP ranking and American Conference championship in the first season of membership.

Republican Senate candidate Michele Tafoya, a former sportscaster, said Wednesday that voters told her it was "embarrassing" to be from Minnesota, amid progressive candidates' wins across the state.
In an appearance on Fox News's "America Reports," host John Roberts asked Tafoya about polling that showed her trailing her opponent, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, a progressive who netted the Democratic nomination.
"The cards are stacked against you, it would seem," Roberts said. "No question, you've got a big hill to climb there."
"Minnesotans are exhausted, and John, quite frankly, they're embarrassed. I have talked to hundreds of voters in Minnesota who have told me, 'Gosh, I went on vacation this summer. Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke with reporters after practice on Tuesday at Missouri Western State University. Now, we're not tackling, and it's not live, but I would like to see us be a little bit more physical. So, I'm looking for physicality, tackling, the block destruction. Those would be the most important things."
Spagnuolo will be evaluating multiple positions in the preseason opener on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams, including a returning veteran who contributed to the Super Bowl LIV victory, who is reportedly signing with Kansas City this week.
"Yeah, I always had an affection for E (Emmanuel Ogbah). It was disappointing the one year we had him in 2019. I thought he was really coming on and then he got hurt and then we didn't have him at the end of the year," said Spagnuolo. "But I've always periodically been in touch with him. We've got to get through the physical and all those other things, but if he's part of our group, I'll be excited about that."
Ogbah has a career total of 48 sacks through 136 games, securing nine forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Utah center Alex Harrison has heard all of the talk about the Utes' new offensive line.
Utah is replacing all five starters from a sensational unit that helped the Utes set school records in 2025. The tackles from that line, Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu, were both selected in the first round of the NFL draft. The other starters — Jaren ******* p, Tanoa Togiai and Michael Mokofisi — all either signed NFL free agent or minicamp deals or worked out for NFL teams.
Replacing those five starters is going to be a tough task for the Utes, but the members of the 2026 offensive line are frankly tired of hearing about it.
"It's really fun for us because if you look, I can't remember who it was, was it Phil Steele or one of the social media traps you get into, I don't think we were in the top 50 O-lines in the country. It's one of those things where it's like, great," Harrison said.
"I love the fact that ******* ody believes in us. I love the fact that everyone doubts us. Bring it on. I just can't wait because I think we'll show a lot of people this year."
