HOLMES TOWNSHIP - Wynford used its retro act of a strong rushing attack to snap a two-game losing streak and beat Buckeye Central 41-6 in Northern 10 play Friday night.
The Royals (1-1, 2-2) ran for 492 yards and six touchdowns, led by Deegan Lutz's 246 yards and Braylon Wells' 209 — they both had a trio of scores.

The man charged in the attempted burglary of Eagles running back Saquon Barkley's home has now been charged in another burglary.
Officials say he is now connected to at least four burglaries.
Jabir Parker, 24, was scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday but that hearing got postponed.
However, investigators now say Parker, along with two or three other unnamed suspects, stole cash, $80,000 in jewelry, and about $10,000 worth of handbags from a house in Haverford Township, Delaware County, on August 20.
Parker is also accused of breaking into Barkley's home in Chester County, back in July.

HOPATCONG — Before Hopatcong's season opener, Alexa McLean said all the same things to the soccer players as most other coaches would. She just said them in a slightly higher register, occasionally referring to one or another of the boys as "honey." McLean called out her starters' names with a lilt belying her Ecuadoran American roots.
During the match, McLean strolled the sideline with her phone on a sparkly cross-body strap bouncing off her hip, a green dry-erase board printed with soccer lines and a white marker in her right hand. She gave a continuous flow of suggestions and encouragement, mostly in English. But occasionally, McLean switched to her native Spanish.
A Spanish and English as a Second Language teacher at Hopatcong, McLean was an ****** istant with the boys soccer team two years ago. Last fall, she helped the soccer team at the Academy of St. Elizabeth – an all-girls school in Morris Township – to a 1-15 record in her first high school head coaching job.
But the commute was too much. When the Hopatcong boys' job opened up, it seemed a natural fit.

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — When Conneaut couldn't get things going through the air, the team was more than happy to shift gears against Friday in a battle of unbeaten county teams.

Conneaut improved to 3-0, while the Warriors fell to 2-1.

An arrest has been made in connection with the attempted burglary at the home of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday that 24-year-old Jabir Parker of Philadelphia has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Parker faces multiple felony charges, including burglary, conspiracy to burglarize, criminal trespass (breaking into a structure) and other related offenses.
Authorities allege Parker broke into Barkley's home in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, during the early morning hours of July 18.
According to investigators, Barkley and his family were inside the home at the time of the burglary, but no one was injured.

The death of adult film actor Christian Styles is under investigation after police responded to his Michigan home over the weekend.
Styles, whose real name was Zachary Jaghab, died on Aug. 20 at 29 years old. Canton Township Police Chief Joseph Bialy told TMZ that officers were called to Styles' residence Saturday afternoon following a report of a "non-responsive adult male."
Bialy said Styles' family contacted authorities, though he did not identify who discovered him and placed the call.
Canton Township Police have since opened a death investigation alongside the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office. Styles' body was taken by the medical examiner for an autopsy that will seek to determine both his cause and manner of death.

Pemberton has turned to a familiar face to help revive its boys basketball program. This week the Pemberton board approved the hiring of Ryan Derry to the post.
Derry comes to the Hornets with six years of head coaching experience at Burlington Township Derry's teams went 88-68 with trips to the 2018 Central Jersey Group 3 and 2022 South Jersey Group 3 championship games.
"Roy Heck hired me to coach on his staff and I coached baseball at Pemberton," Derry said. "It was my first job after college. It's where I started this journey as a teacher and coach. I know deep down in my core that I can be the guy that will bring that Pemberton pride back, and bring that stability back, to that basketball program. I cannot be more excited."
Derry has ******* istant coaching experience under two familiar Burlington County coaches, Heck and, most recently, Derry served as an ******* istant at Rancocas Valley under coach Jay Flanagan.

The West Jersey Football League Liberty Division has taken a big step up in competition from a year ago. Only two teams, ******* berland and St. Joseph Hammonton, remain from last year. Every two years, the divisions undergo change in the WJFL, and this is the first year of the new cycle.
Lower Cape May won the division last year, but the Tigers are now competing in the WJFL Memorial Division.
This seems to be a division in which virtually any team could make the case for contending.
Timber Creek (2-8, 1-3) moves over from the Classic Division after playing one of the toughest schedules in South Jersey. In one three-game stretch, Timber Creek played three eventual state champions – Camden in Group 2, Cedar Creek (Group 3) and Washington Township (Group 5). In addition, the Chargers also faced South Jersey Group 5 finalist Kingsway. While there will be plenty of competition on this year's schedule, nothing is as brutal as the one the Chargers faced last season. With eight starters back on offense and seven on defense, coach Brian Wright's Chargers should contend in the Liberty Division,
St. Joseph Academy (7-2, 4-1) might be undergoing the biggest change of any team in South Jersey. First off, after two years off as a head coach, Sal Marchese Jr. takes over the program. Marchese was both a standout player and coach at Delsea. He was the head coach for 31 seasons at his alma mater. During that time, Delsea won 249 games, 11 sectional ******* les and a state Group 3 crown in his final game as a coach in 2023. Last year he served as an ******* istant coach at Williamstown.

DETROIT — LIV Golf finally has confirmed what's been quite clear for a while: The Michigan tournament is not happening. LIV Golf announced Monday afternoon it will crown its 2026 individual and team champions this week at its event in Indianapolis.
Michigan was supposed to host the season-ending team championship for a second consecutive year, from Aug. 27-30, but there have been countless signs for the past several weeks that Michigan's tournament was doomed, amid the league's ongoing funding crisis. There was no immediate word on financial implications for Saint John's Resort in Plymouth Township, where the tournament was to be hosted at The Cardinal. The resort is believed to have paid a seven-figure fee to LIV to host.
LIV Golf said fans who purchased tickets to the Michigan event will receive refunds, but didn't give any specific details on how or when refunds would be issued. The News has reached out to LIV Golf for clarity. LIV Golf still was selling tickets to the Michigan tournament until late last week, despite obvious signs the event wasn't happening.
"We are disappointed that the LIV Golf team championship will no longer be held in August," Kevin Doyle, COO of the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, said in a statement to The Detroit News. "We were excited to welcome the event back after last year's tremendous reception from fans and the praise Saint John's Resort and The Cardinal received from LIV players. Adrian E. Allison, chief relationship officer at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is a proud graduate of the Canton City School District. He would later become the youngest superintendent and the first African American to serve in that role.
Allison, 54, and his family now reside in Jackson Township. He has been married for 28 years to his college sweetheart, Krista. They have two daughters, both of whom are McKinley High School and The Ohio State University graduates: Averi (who also earned her master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University) and Anastasia.
He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace University and then followed his girlfriend (now his wife) to law school at Case Western Reserve University. Allison began his career as an Ohio ******* istant attorney general, then served as an executive at the Ohio Department of Education and eventually joined the Canton City School District before becoming superintendent in 2013. He joined the Hall of Fame in 2019.
"No matter where I travel in this country, I proudly wear Hall of Fame apparel," Allison said. After three one-run wins positioned it to reach the Junior Little League World Series, Middletown-Odessa-Townsend was foiled by two such defeats on July 30.
The Delaware champs lost twice to New Jersey champion Freehold Township at the East Regional July 30 in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
Freehold Township scored four sixth-inning runs to pull ahead in the deciding game and prevailed 9-8 when MOT scored just one run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Freehold Township had forced a deciding game in the double-elimination format by winning earlier in the afternoon 12-11 as both teams staged incredible rallies.
MOT trailed 8-1 through five innings, then scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and seven more in the seventh to go ahead 11-8. But Freehold answered by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to prevail in dramatic fashion.

Vollono still has the tickets from her first game on Sept. 13, 1969, when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Atlanta Falcons 38-24. The first Hall of Fame Game, which now kicks off the NFL preseason, was played in 1962.

Indianapolis tennis legend Barbara Wynne passed away on July 18 at the age of 93.
Wynne's family goes way beyond her six children, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Shortridge High School graduate was a massive force in Central Indiana tennis, paving the way for young talent to thrive in the sport.
Wynne helped establish the North Side Tennis Club in 1964, which eventually became the Indianapolis Community Tennis Program. Wynne began the public tennis program "with the vision that tennis can enhance one's athletic ability, as well as one's personal life," according to ICTP.
Wynne's program went from her backyard court to eight courts at North Central, where thirty courts and a tennis house were eventually built. Washington Township completed a multi-million-dollar renovation of the tennis house in 2003. The 30-court facility was named the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center.
In 1984, twenty years after founding her tennis club, Wynne's program began "Kids Helping Kids," a charity project to benefit Riley Children's Foundation. Young tennis players raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Riley Hospital for Children.

LIV Golf's season-ending team championship officially remains on the schedule for Aug. 27-30, but amid the league's major funding crisis, that might not remain in the case for long.
There has been no infrastructure buildout at The Cardinal at Saint John's Resort as of Wednesday night, with a Detroit News reporter spotting no hospitality suites on the 18th hole, no stage for the post-round concerts and championship celebration, no player walking bridge across the signature pond, no visible signage — no nothing to suggest a significant golf tournament will be played here five weeks from Thursday.

The site is linked to the sinking of a military transport vessel and other ships in the Bashi Channel after they were attacked by U.S. forces in 1944. According to historian Kazuko Tachi, who is also an activist involved in the recovery efforts, more than 4,700 soldiers and crew members died while 65 survived.

Social media influencer with pages called "Celebrity Medical Esthetician" and "Trad Wife" becomes a hot topic after a video of her arrest for shoplifting at a Jersey Shore ShopRite is released.
Jeana M. DiCarlo, 35, of Middletown, was arrested after Middletown Police Officer James Courtney responded to the ShopRite located at 1500 Route 35 at 5:16 p.m. on Friday due to a report of a female stealing on the premises, according to the Middletown Police report and the body camera video released by Transparency Bodycam.
DiCarlo has more than 30,900 followers on her Instagram account jgloskincaree, where she describes herself as a "Celebrity Medical Esthetician," business owner, a "Mom of 5," and a "FireWife". Her posts contain information about her skincare routine, her five children (a baby boy that she claims to have conceived via in vitro fertilization after five girls), and her firefighter husband who works with the FDNY.
According to the criminal complaint, store employees said that DiCarlo tried to leave the store with stolen merchandise. The value of the items was estimated at $548.80. Based on evidence from store surveillance video and the store's decision to press charges against her, DiCarlo was arrested, handcuffed, and transported to Middletown Township Police headquarters. She was charged with third-degree shoplifting and released on her own recognizance until her court appearance.
During the investigation, it was found that DiCarlo had committed similar crimes on May 8, May 17, and May 31, with a total value of the items of $1,940.20. Thus, the total estimated value for all four incidents became $2,489.

DYBERRY TWP. — More than 200 runners and walkers turned out to celebrate a milestone moment for one of the area's most popular summertime athletic events.
On July 11, local officials welcomed competitors from as far away as Florida for the 40th annual Dr. Perkins Memorial 5K. The 2026 event took place at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Dyberry Township.
"This was definitely an amazing day," said race organizer and longtime Honesdale High School cross country coach Lindsey Pender. "We're so grateful for all the wonderful support we get from the community. It just keeps getting better every year."

JOHANNESBURG, July 9 (Reuters) - Groups of anti-immigration South Africans seized foreigners from their homes in Johannesburg on Thursday and handed them to police in a hardening of protests that have sown fear in communities and strained ties with some countries.
In Johannesburg's Alexandra township, a Reuters reporter saw protesters breaking down doors and entering houses where they believed undocumented immigrants were hiding.
They escorted the people to police vans where they were taken away, including a woman and a small child from Malawi. Another man who was apprehended by the marchers told Reuters he was in the country legally.
"I am a ZEP holder," said the Zimbabwean national, Total Mhlanga, referring to the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit which allows tens of thousands of nationals to live and work in South Africa.
In Soweto, anti-immigrant protesters marched through town wielding sticks and flags, with plans to go search for undocumented immigrants. Several of the flyers for Thursday's protests advertised a "peaceful march" followed by "door to door". Another march took place in Durban on the east coast.

It wasn't an isolated incident. Communities across the United States have now blocked or delayed more than $130 billion in AI data centers in the first three months of 2026, refusing projects the industry's biggest names **** umed they could build anywhere.

He was drawn to the Maroons' opening in large part because of his background with public schools. He played at Rock Island before graduating in 1981 and taught and coached at Warren Township for 32 years before retiring in 2019.
But the next leader of the Maroons' program is equally energetic about where the team can go.

A Maine couple used their pickup truck to save a moose calf from a charging bear during a routine fishing trip Thursday, helping reunite the young animal with its mother.
Todd Malcolm told The **** ociated Press he believed the bear would catch the calf unless he intervened.
