The Kansas City Chiefs decided to part with veteran running back Isiah Pacheco earlier this year as they looked to rebuild their offense after a failed 2025 campaign.
Pacheco quickly found work with the Detroit Lions, who signed him to a one-year contract in free agency.
While Detroit's ground game was already spearheaded by speedy rusher Jahmyr Gibbs, Pacheco was expected to make an immediate impact for the Lions as a second or third option in the team's offensive backfield.
Instead, Pacheco has found on Detroit's injured reserve list to start the 2026 season, and he failed to make his debut in the Lions' Week 1 overtime win against the New Orleans Saints on September 13.
With Pacheco on the sideline, Detroit leaned on Gibbs in the running game, giving the former Alabama Crimson Tide star 29 carries in its 31-30 victory over New Orleans.

The Detroit Lions now have a substantial cushion in terms of financial stability heading into their first game of the 2026 campaign. This will allow Brad Holmes and the rest of the front office more flexibility in whatever direction they see fit whether that is in-season moves or in preparation for the contracts they will need to negotiate next offseason.
But it is also an indicator of how much faith the team has put into their top two players. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell have each restructured their contracts without changing how vital they are to the squad.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (14) practices during mini camp at Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
The Lions have restructured the contracts of wideout Brown and offensive tackle Sewell, creating about $35.6 million in salary cap ***** e, per Spotrac. The news was announced on September 12, just one day ahead of the Lions' season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

Lili Reinhart kept things effortlessly cool during a recent outing in London, pairing a delicate slip dress with a rugged leather jacket for a look that balanced soft and edgy in equal measure. The actress stepped out for a visit to Capital Buzz on September 8, drawing attention for her laid-back take on off-duty style.
Lili Reinhart pairs delicate slip dress with Saint Laurent leather jacket in London. Reinhart wore the Theory Velima Slip Dress, a cream-toned piece held up by nothing more than two thin straps. The dress featured a loose, tiered silhouette that fell just above the knee, with soft, flowing fabric that gave the look an airy, undone quality despite its minimal strap construction.
Over the dress, Reinhart layered a black leather biker jacket from Saint Laurent, noted as a secondhand find rather than a new purchase. The structured, moto-inspired jacket added a sharp contrast to the softness of the slip dress underneath, giving the overall look a lived-in, rock-and-roll edge.
She finished the outfit with Golden Goose's Kurt Boots, a slouchy black leather style priced at $1,130, along with Elisa Johnson's Dakota Sunglasses, retailing at $135. Photos from the outing show Reinhart walking confidently along a London street, her blonde hair loose and tousled as the jacket slipped slightly off one shoulder.
The London stop comes in the middle of a packed press run for Reinhart's new film, "The Love Hypothesis." Just a day after this street style moment, she stunned at the film's London premiere in an archival plunging Emanuel Ungaro dress, and she recently wore a custom Rodarte beaded tulle gown for the film's German premiere.

This could be interesting. Rookie running back CJ Donaldson is expected to come up from the New Orleans Saints practice squad for Week 1's road game with the Detroit Lions, reports Nick Underhill for NewOrleans.Football. While the Saints will have Travis Etienne Jr. and Kendre Miller in the lineup, veteran rusher Alvin Kamara is questionable to play and Audric Estime has been preemptively ruled out with a thigh injury. This would be one of three times the Saints can elevate Donaldson from the practice squad before they're required to promote him to the 53-man roster.
Donaldson is a bigger back, listed at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, and the Saints took time to figure out what he could do during the preseason and training camp by moving him around the formation as a fullback and halfback. That's a role he's familiar with dating back to his time in college with Ohio State and West Virginia. We know that rookie tight end Oscar Delp isn't playing in Week 1 due to a hamstring injury so maybe Donaldson does more than take some handoffs in short-yardage situations. He could get some opportunities to pave the way as a lead blocker and stand up blitzing defenders in the backfield.
But that doesn't mean he won't get some carries. Even if Etienne is going to take the lion's share of rushing attempts, Kamara isn't likely to see many touches if he does get the green light, being so soon removed from a preseason knee injury. Miller has missed 30 of his 51 possible games with New Orleans because of injuries. It makes sense to have Donaldson available in case of an emergency, if for no other reason than to keep Kamara from being rushed into some unfavorable situations.

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (knee), who is listed as questionable for the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions, is not expected to have a big role if he does play.
SOURCE: Nick Underhill - NewOrleans.Football
Why it Matters: Although Kamara still has a chance to suit up in the season opener, it sounds like the Saints will play it safe with their veteran running back. Kamara should be a solid flex option this season, especially in PPR formats, but even he does play, he should probably be left on the bench in Week 1.

It's Week 1 of the fantasy football season, and while we're not dealing with any bye weeks yet, we're always dealing with injuries. Players you drafted a few weeks ago could be a bit banged up by this point. This will be a weekly piece where I look at readily available players to grab and drop into your lineups.
*Streamers are players who are rostered in 50% or fewer of Yahoo! leagues.
Shough and the Saints visit the Detroit Lions, where we see a big 49.5 over/under. Shough posted 18 fantasy points or more in each of his final six games last season, pretty darn good for a player rostered in only 40% of leagues this season. The Lions allowed the 9th most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks last season (18.2) and have a bad secondary, putting Shough in a good spot.
With Tua Tagovailoa potentially out for Week 1, the Falcons might get back to basics and aim for a run-heavy game. Of course, Bijan Robinson leads the way, but there's no reason for the Falcons to run him into the ground in Week 1.
It's a lower total vs. the Steelers, but a few carries and a vulture at the goal line is a path to production for Brian Robinson.

Saints manager Craig Harrison was sent off as his side consolidated their place at the top of the Cymru Premier table.
The visitors were already two goals ahead - through first-half efforts from Daniel Williams and Rory Holden - by the time Harrison earned the wrath of the match officials early in the second period. Saints stay top while Airbus held on to eighth spot.
The tale of the table did not lie as Caernarfon eased to a thumping victory in south west Wales to move third.
Phillip Mooney and Sion Bradley putting them 2-0 up by the break before Ammanford's Lucas Davies saw red.
Bradley added their third from the penalty spot before Mooney also grabbed a second and Harri Wyn completed their scoring as they left winless Ammanford to lick their wounds and down in 15th place.

The Detroit Lions released defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike on Friday, Sept. 11, two days before their season opener against the New Orleans Saints.
A second-round pick out of Washington in 2021, Onwuzurike was expected to play a rotational role on the Lions' defensive line this fall and still could return on the 53-man roster next week or to the practice squad on Saturday.
NFL teams sometimes release veterans before the start of the regular season to avoid having their contracts guaranteed for the season. All vested veterans on Week 1 rosters have their salaries guaranteed.
ROSTER WORK: Lions close to naming starting LG; Izien's status vs Saints uncertain
The Lions would avoid guaranteeing Onwuzurike's salary by re-signing him to the practice squad, according to OverTheCap.com, but still could elevate him for Sunday's game.

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (knee) practiced fully on Friday, Sept. 11, and is listed as questionable for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.
SOURCE: NewOrleansSaints.com
Why It Matters: With Kamara listed as questionable and practicing fully, he could factor into the backfield. He could be used as a flex play in leagues or an RB2 or RB3 in deeper ones. He will be a volatile play, though, with the team signing Travis Etienne Jr. this offseason, it leaves a lot up in the air with their backfield.

The Detroit Lions will enter Week 1 with only one player carrying an injury designation for Sunday's opener against the New Orleans Saints.
Defensive back Christian Izien is questionable with a groin injury after being limited throughout the week. Everyone else listed on Detroit's final report finished Friday as a full participant and carries no game-status designation.
That includes rookie edge rusher Derrick Moore and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo, who both progressed from limited participation Wednesday and Thursday to full participation Friday. Detroit's official final Week 1 injury report leaves Izien as the only legitimate availability question heading into the weekend.
That is a considerably cleaner injury picture than Detroit faced during much of training camp.
Moore's progression is particularly encouraging.

At the beginning of the week, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell dropped an interesting update that the left guard position was still up for grabs in the lead up to the team's season opener against the New Orleans Saints. Incumbent Christian Mahogany and free agent addition Ben Bartch were to split reps in practice all week, and Campbell even said he'd consider rotating the two in the game if a leader hadn't emerged in the competition.
But on Friday, Campbell gave a little clarity on the situation, suggesting that Mahogany will start on Sunday.
"I don't know. It's a good question. I'm still thinking about that. There's probably a good chance Mahogany starts," Campbell said.
Now, of course, who starts the game and who finishes it could very different. Campbell's comments are vague enough to suggest that the guard rotation could continue and/or Mahogany could be on a short leash. He could even change his mind before Sunday. Campbell did note that both players have played well in the two practices thus far this week.
"I thought both of those guys did a really good job in practice," Campbell said.

The Yahoo Fantasy Football crew is ready to get bold for Week 1. Which one of these predictions will come true?
I know the quarterback situation in New Orleans is going to make people nervous, but this matchup has all the ingredients for the Chris Olave show. Alvin Kamara looks questionable, first-round rookie Jordyn Tyson will not play and the Saints are facing what many expect to be the best offense in the NFL.
Join a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Detroit is going to score points. If New Orleans wants to keep up, Tyler Shough is going to have to throw the football and his easiest answer will be feeding Olave. Olave is coming off career highs with 100 catches, 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns on 155 targets. He finished as the WR7 in fantasy points per game and already showed us this exact ceiling with a 10-catch, 148-yard, two-touchdown performance last season.
I am calling for double-digit targets, more than 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns. There will be bigger names attached to better quarterbacks across the Week 1 slate, but very few receivers have a clearer path to dominating their team's passing volume. Olave takes advantage of the game environment and opens the season as the overall WR1. — Ray Garvin

Blake Roskopf threw five touchdown passes and Goodyear Desert Edge's defense stifled Scottsdale Notre Dame's offense in a 46-7 5A football rout on Thursday night, Sept. 10, at Desert Edge.
Roskopf quickly carved up Notre Dame's defense, finding open receivers all over the field. He threw two touchdown passes to Jhaheem Brown and two to Zerek Sidney, including a 61-yarder that gave the top-ranked Scorpions (3-0) a 40-7 lead with five minutes left in the third quarter.
Roskopf, a Washington commit, has quietly thrown 12 touchdown passes in Desert Edge's first three games.
But the story of its season so far has been the defense, led by electric junior edge rusher Jalanie George, who had another monster game.
When Notre Dame's Austin Bush ran 3 yards for a score with 7:21 left in the second quarter, it was the first time this season that Desert Edge allowed a touchdown. The score came after Desert Edge twice lined up offsides on two Notre Dame field-goal tries. With short yardage, the Saints picked up first downs both times, leading to the score and a 7-6 lead.

Alex Fine, who plays Donnie, one of Kat McAllister's enforcers in MobLand, is confirmed to return for Season Two. He attended the world premiere in London with his wife, Cassie Ventura.
Matt Crossick/Variety via Getty Images
Alex wore Saint Laurent Fall 2026, taking the cropped cable-knit sweater from the runway and giving it a much cleaner spin with wide-leg black trousers. I've been enjoying the collection's striped pieces on the red carpet, but I like that Alex didn't recreate the runway styling. The all-black palette puts the focus on the proportions, which is what makes this work for me.
Cassie opted for a Magda Butrym wool corset dress, and this is easily my favourite part of their couple's style moment. The precise darting and padded hips create that exaggerated hourglass silhouette the designer does so well, and you know I love a well-executed exaggerated silhouette.
The dress is so good that the shoes frustrate me even more. The bronze pointed-toe pumps with criss-cross ankle straps feel disconnected from the modernity of the silhouette. A pewter strappy sandal or mule would have been a much stronger finish and allowed the dress to have the final word.

The last of the mainland-island matchups will be over by tonight.
Saint Louis plays at Sierra Canyon (Calif.) in a game that will close its two-game football journey. The Crusaders lost to IMG Academy, the No. 3-ranked team in the nation, 41-0 last week.
Voters in the Star-Advertiser Football 10 didn't seem to mind. Saint Louis (0-3) moved up a notch to No. 9 this week. Sierra Canyon (2-0) is another opponent in the national spotlight. The Trailblazers are ranked sixth in the country, and No. 5 in California (MaxPreps).
The menu is quite intriguing this weekend with a mix of league play and interleague pupus.
On Friday, Keaau plays at 'Iolani and Kailua hosts Damien. OIA Division I action kicks off with No. 7 Waipahu at Nanakuli, while Moanalua entertains Farrington.

Lions get totally hosed in offensive line ranking originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Detroit Lions are widely considered to have a strong offense this season. They have stars like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jameson Williams ready to go for another season, as well as quarterback Jared Goff. What's not to like about this crew?
But, one NFL ******* yst isn't buying it. His placement for the Lions' offense is really a head-scratcher. So, it should give the team a little more motivation going into their first game of the regular season on Sunday against the Saints.
PFF has released its official 2026 NFL offensive line rankings going into the new season, and the Lions are No. 19. They're actually lower than the Las Vegas Raiders, who had a 3-14 record last season.
So, what's the problem? Gordon McGuinness of PFF explains that it comes down to injuries. One really stands out.

The Detroit Lions finally answered the Tom Kennedy roster question.
Detroit announced Thursday that it has signed Kennedy from the practice squad to the active roster and added defensive back Natrone Brooks to the practice squad. The Kennedy move fills the final opening on Detroit's 53-man roster just three days before the season opener against the New Orleans Saints.
This was the move Detroit had been telegraphing for most of the week. Kennedy was already expected to play Sunday, and special teams coordinator Dave Fipp confirmed Thursday that the veteran receiver will handle punt-return duties.
Detroit originally brought Kennedy back on the practice squad after final cuts, but leaving him there was increasingly looking temporary. He gives the Lions a fifth active receiver while solving their most obvious special-teams vacancy at the same time.
When Detroit opened two roster spots by waiving Seth McLaughlin and Jabari Small, Kennedy immediately moved to the front of the line.

Drew Petzing would rather not rotate offensive linemen.
"I'd like to have five Hall of Famers up there that we're going to sit in there for 15 years and roll," he said Thursday, Sept. 10, in Allen Park.
But after managing line rotations on multiple occasions during his three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, the Detroit Lions' first-year offensive coordinator said a left guard rotation like the one the Lions could use Sunday against the New Orleans Saints (1 p.m., Fox) could benefit the team.
"I think the reality of the NFL ... is sometimes the best thing for the team is not to [have one lineman take all the snaps]," Petzing said. "And it's an opportunity for those guys to continue to compete and earn their reps and to help this team win games. So looking forward to seeing whatever that ends up looking like one way or the other kind of play out on Sunday."
Christian Mahogany started 11 games at left guard for the Lions last season and took most of the first-team reps at the position this summer, but Lions coach Dan Campbell said he planned to rotate Mahogany and Ben Bartch at left guard in practice this week.

The 2026 NFL season will be Jared Goff's sixth season in a Detroit Lions uniform. Goff played in all 17 games last season for Detroit. He completed 68.0% of his passes for 4,564 yards, 34 touchdowns and eight interceptions, finishing second in the NFL in both passing yards and passing touchdowns.
That production still was not enough to put him inside the top 10 at his position entering this season.
Nick Shook of NFL.com sorted all 32 starting quarterbacks into tiers ahead of Week 1. Tier 1 held only four names: Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes and Drake Maye. Goff landed in Tier 2 at No. 11 overall, one spot outside the top 10.
Shook wrote, "Jared Goff and the Lions have plenty to prove after missing the playoffs last season, although their offensive line concerns me and could be an issue if it doesn't collectively elevate its play in 2026."
Detroit finished 9-8 last season, fourth in the NFC North, and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2022. The Lions will look to get back for the third time in four seasons when they open the season against the New Orleans Saints at Ford Field on Sunday.

Rookie linebacker Jimmy Rolder was back on the practice field Tuesday, Sept. 8, for the Detroit Lions after missing more than a month with a hamstring injury.
Rolder, the Lions' fourth-round pick, pulled a hamstring on the third day of training camp and missed the rest of the summer. He said in late August he was close to a return.
Rolder was one of several injured players the Lions got back on the field for the first full practice of the week ahead of their season opener Sept. 13 against the New Orleans Saints.
Safeties Thomas Harper and Christian Izien also returned from ankle and leg injuries, respectively, as the Lions had all 52 players on their roster on the field.
Lions safeties coach Jim O'Neil indicated Harper could play in a safety rotation with starters Chuck Clark and Avonte Maddox to start the season.

Christian Mahogany and Ben Bartch will split reps at left guard in practice for the Detroit Lions this week and the team could use both players in their season opener Sunday, Sept. 13, against the New Orleans Saints, Lions coach Dan Campbell said.
"Yeah, we could," Campbell said. "[Tuesday] they're going to split. I see them splitting on Thursday, I see them splitting on Friday, and then if nothing's been decided by then, then maybe they both play."
Mahogany started 11 games at left guard for the Lions last season and handled most of the first-team reps at the position this summer, while Bartch was recovering from injuries.
Bartch underwent Lisfranc surgery last year while playing for the San Francisco 49ers and missed time with a concussion in training camp.
Campbell praised Bartch's play in camp but said Aug. 20 he did not think there was enough time for Bartch to win the starting job. The Lions signed Bartch this offseason with thoughts of having an open competition at left guard.
