Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has responded to India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's public appeal for help in acquiring land in his home state, ***** uring the cricketer that the government will extend all possible ***** istance in accordance with the rules.

Pant, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team ahead of the two-Test series, had taken to social media platform X in the early hours of Saturday to seek the chief minister's intervention after struggling to purchase land in Uttarakhand for nearly three years.
In a heartfelt post, the 28-year-old revealed his desire to move his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and build his first home in the state where his roots lie. Pant said that despite searching for suitable land for the past three years, he had been unable to find a property that met his requirements.

"pushkardhami ***** o sir how's you ??? It's a long time for me especially being local from Uttrakhand . I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttrakhand and I couldn't find anything facilitating and big to live here I love my Uttrakhand. Pant later clarified that he was not seeking any special favour or free allotment from the government. Instead, he said he was willing to purchase the land at the government's prescribed rates if the administration could facilitate the process.

"A gift would be lovey for representation out states at the highest level internationally stages but if you allow me I wanna buy it fromGovernment and on there rates at least I can have my first house built in my own state and our state please be helpful. Seriously didn't know how to do it," he further wrote.
Responding to Pant's appeal, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the India star for bringing laurels to Uttarakhand and welcomed his desire to return to his home state.

"Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand. With your splendid performances and achievements, you have illuminated the name of Devbhoomi across the country and the world. Your love for your motherland and your desire to return and contribute here are truly commendable," Dhami posted on X.

Andrew Flintoff has stepped down as head coach of the England Lions, ending his tenure with the national development side less than two years after taking charge.

Flintoff, who began the role in September 2024, played a key role in reshaping the Lions programme and creating an environment aimed at developing England's next generation of players and coaches. His departure comes as he prepares to take up his new role as head coach of Sydney Thunder in Australia's Big Bash League.

The former England all-rounder said he had taken pride in watching young players develop during his time with the Lions but had decided it was time to move on.

"Unfortunately I've made the decision to step away from my role with the Lions. Not only have I enjoyed my time having the opportunity to work with the best young cricketers in the country, but have taken great pride in seeing them develop," Flintoff said in an ECB statement.

"I'd like to thank the coaches and staff for all their passion, tireless work and support they give everyday. In particular, Ed Barney who I've loved working with and was so lucky to have as a performance director, and obviously Rob (Key) for trusting me with one of the most important roles in English cricket."

Flintoff added: "I can't wait to get started with the [Sydney] Thunder later in the year and see where coaching takes me."
Flintoff's appointment marked a significant step in his return to cricket after the serious accident he suffered while filming for the television programme Top Gear.

During his stint with the Lions, the 48-year-old was central to establishing what the ECB described as a "world-class Lions environment", with his work extending beyond the players to coaches at different stages of their careers.

Ed Barney, ECB men's performance director, praised Flintoff's contribution and credited him with transforming the development programme.

"Fred has helped to transform the Lions environment into a programme that has had a major impact on young players. By creating an environment that both supports and pushes excellence at all times he has helped bring forward a new generation of young players," Barney said.

"Coaches have also flourished alongside him, whether early in their coaching journey or with decades of experience, and he has consistently maximised the expertise around the group."

Flintoff had initially been expected to combine his Lions responsibilities with his Sydney Thunder commitments, with the ECB allowing him to miss two four-day matches in South Africa during the winter because of his BBL duties. He has now opted to leave the England role entirely.
Flintoff's departure comes shortly after England men's managing director Rob Key publicly praised his work with the Lions, saying the ECB was "incredibly fortunate to have him".

The Lions are scheduled to face a Professional County Club Select XI against Pakistan Men in a four-day match at Beckenham, beginning on Wednesday, August 12.

NEW DELHI: India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a rather unusual public appeal in the early hours of Saturday, directly requesting Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to help him acquire land in the state so he can shift his base from Delhi and build his first home in his native state.

Pant, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team for the two-match Test series, took to social media platform X to make the request, tagging Dhami in a lengthy post. The 28-year-old said he had been trying to find suitable land in Uttarakhand for the past three years but had struggled to find a property that could meet his requirements.

More importantly, Pant made it clear that he wanted to return to his roots and contribute to the state after years of representing India on the international stage.

"pushkardhami ***** o sir how's you ??? It's a long time for me especially being local from Uttrakhand . I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttrakhand and I couldn't find anything facilitating and big to live here I love my Uttrakhand. My humble request to us is please help me in land acquisition cause nowadays it had become nitemare with clarity and even other land is dew which was I supposedly get when I was promoting the state before keeping everything in side I wanna move back to my native place to help and built around Uttrakhand and I want to shif back to my Pahadi people please look into this matter it's been 3 years didn't get any land awaiting your answer pushkardhami sir," he wrote.

Pant followed it up by clarifying that he was not asking for land as a free gift, but wanted to purchase it from the government at the applicable rates.

"A gift would be lovey for representation out states at the highest level internationally stages but if you allow me I wanna buy it fromGovernment and on there rates at least I can have my first house built in my own state and our state please be helpful. Seriously didn't know how to do it," he further wrote.

The posts quickly went viral, with Pant's unusual request drawing significant attention on social media.
Pant was born in Roorkee in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district and began his cricketing journey there before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally. He eventually established himself as one of India's premier wicketkeeper-batters across formats.

Although Pant continues to represent Delhi in domestic cricket, he has repeatedly maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand. His latest posts underline his desire to eventually make the state his home and contribute to its development.

His appeal also comes just days after Pant emerged as Uttarakhand's highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year, having reportedly paid Rs 23.84 crore in income tax.

The figures were announced by the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Uttarakhand, during an event marking Income Tax Day on July 24. Pant topped the list of individual taxpayer

Emerald Wealth Partners, an independent **** et and wealth management firm based in Zurich, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Focused Equity Strategy." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Strategy reported a 0.8% gross return for the second quarter of 2026. Equity markets rallied after the first quarter's Iran shock faded and oil prices reversed their spike, but the advance remained narrow and concentrated in cyclical semiconductor and memory stocks benefiting from supply constraints. The letter warned that investors were treating peak-cycle earnings as durable, while FOMO, IPO demand, and a US cyclically adjusted P/E ratio near 40 pointed to late-cycle market behavior. Long-term fundamentals are currently undervalued by the market, leading to underperformance in the strategy, notably due to the portfolio's avoidance of low-quality momentum-driven semiconductor stocks, which boosted the benchmark this quarter. It remains focused on enterprise infrastructure, digital platforms, custom silicon, and networking businesses that hold customer relationships, workflow data, distribution, and efficiency advantages, which could allow them to monetize AI rather than be displaced by it. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for its key selections.
According to Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy's Q2 2026 investor letter, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. On August 04, 2026, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE) closed at $149.20 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $83.76 billion. Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy stated the following regarding Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.'s (NYSE:ICE) 21.4% share decline knocked 58 bps from the portfolio's performance. The company owns a unique collection of complementary franchises — including the New York Stock Exchange, clearing houses, fixed income data businesses and a mortgage technology platform — **** embled over decades through disciplined and accretive acquisitions. Tosin Adarabioyo has labelled his Chelsea colleague Mykhailo Mudryk a "freak," and the center-back confessed he isn't remotely shocked his teammate has preserved his physical conditioning throughout the past 20 months.
Mudryk returned to action for the Blues on Wednesday for the first time since November 2024, coming off the bench during the closing stages of the 1-0 loss to Juventus at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium. The FA announced last week that Mudryk's anti-doping disciplinary case had been resolved.
Manager Xabi Alonso informed Mudryk before kickoff that he intended to deploy him for the final 10-15 minutes. While all Chelsea players on the field had been introduced as substitutes at various points in the second period, Nicolas Jackson agreed beforehand to give up his spot to allow Mudryk's entrance, as per football.london.

Patriots' Drake Maye Apparently Looks Even Better Than He Did Last Year originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Quarterback Drake Maye had a very impressive season in his sophomore campaign for the New England Patriots last year, making the All-Pro Second Team, finishing second in the MVP voting, and making it to a Super Bowl. Maye, who threw for 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions, led the AFC in completion percentage at 72% and also threw for 4,394 yards, looked to be a star already at just 23 years old.
Fast forward to this season, there's hope that not only can Maye continue playing at the level he did a year ago, but possibly even take a step up.
It's a tough ask for a young man to do so, given what we saw him do a year ago, but according to the latest from a Patriots reporter, there's a sense that he looks even more comfortable throughout the early stages of training camp.
"QB Drake Maye: This may seem like a small thing, but Maye looks even more comfortable than last season — and he has been able to do more. More command over the offense. More familiarity in the scheme. More on his plate. That should lead to another great season," Chad Graff wrote.

Where to watch Tour de France Femmes 2026: Full schedule, stages, times, TV channels, live streams for women's race originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The top women's cyclists in the world will race for the yellow jersey as the Tour de France Femmes returns for a fifth edition.
The 2026 race consists of nine stages that will take the riders from Lausanne, Switzerland to the ultimate finish line in Nice. This will be the longest Tour de France Femmes yet, covering 1,175 kilometers (730 miles) and featuring a finish atop the iconic Mont Ventoux.
The reigning champion is Pauline Ferrand-Prevot of France, who was known primarily as a mountain biker before she took a pair of stage wins last year en route to the yellow jersey, but it's fair to say she won't enter as a favorite to repeat.
The Dutch riders, long dominant in the sport, have been strong once again in 2026. Demi Vollering won the Giro d'Italia in June, giving her a victory in all three major week-long stage races after previous triumphs in the Tour de France (2023) and La Vuelta Femenina (2024, 2025). Her veteran countrywoman Anna van der Breggen is also worth watching after podium finishes earlier this year at the Vuelta (third) and Giro (second).

A rally event in Aberdeenshire will give a "good insight" of what to expect when the World Rally Championship (WRC) comes to the region next year, according to organisers.
The Grampian Forest Rally starts in Banchory on Friday and forms part of the British Championship.
It has also attracted some drivers from the WRC, including current points leader Elfyn Evans, who will be keen to try and get a feel for what could lie in store next year, with stages still to be announced.
WRC stages will be held in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray for three years, at a cost of £1m per year but it is thought the economic benefits could run to tens of millions of pounds.

When the Oregon Ducks walked off the field at the end of the 2026 season, everyone — fans, media, coaches, players — knew that there would be lessons learned after getting blown out by the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, 56-22.
A team doesn't just lose that badly on one of the biggest stages in the sport of college football and put the pain away. You watch the film, learn what you can learn, and try to improve upon it.
For Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, watching the film of the semifinal also included watching the Ducks' defense — but he wasn't watching his team's side of the ball. Instead, Moore was watching the Hoosiers' star signal-caller and 2025 Heisman Trophy winner, Fernando Mendoza.
"Yeah, I watched a lot of Fernando tape," Moore said at Oregon's media day. "He's a good ball player; he's someone I respect. You know, I've been playing him since my freshman year at UCLA, playing each other at Cal. I learned a lot from him."
During that CFP matchup, the quarterbacks couldn't have played much more differently.

The Brooklyn Nets are pretty much done with their business for the 2026 NBA offseason as they sought to improve the roster following another disappointing season for the franchise. Brooklyn is still in the early stages of its rebuild as it still has many of first-round picks to use over the next few years and that is primarily the reason why they are highly-regarded in relation to trade ***** ets.
"Given where the Brooklyn Nets have been (and figure to be for the next few years), their first-round picks are valuable. Of course, Adam Silver's new rules aimed at reducing tanking could reduce that value a bit, but a lot of those years will be in the lottery," Andy Bailey wrote for Bleacher Report when discussing the Nets' trade ***** ets. Brooklyn is ranked as the third-best teams in the league when it comes to that precious trade chest.
"And that 2032 first from Denver, when Nikola Jokić is 37 and the aforementioned rules may be retired, could be one of the better individual ***** ets in the league," Bailey continued on the Nets. "On top of that, Brooklyn has a valuable expiring contract attached to one of the best shooters in the NBA in Michael Porter Jr."
As Bailey points out in his piece, the Nets have 12 first-round picks between now (2027) and 2033, not to mention potentially getting a 13th first-round pick from the Philadelphia 76ers. In addition to that, Brooklyn has 19 second-round picks in the same timespan and those picks are becoming more valuable as teams are looking to more cost-control to offset the current financial reality of the CBA.
The Nets have a couple of veteran players in forwards Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle that could be attractive to teams either next season or beyond that could potentially add even more ***** ets to Brooklyn's collection. Time will tell if Porter and/or Randle will be used for that purpose, but as of now, the Nets are regarded as one of the teams with a significant amount of ***** ets to use in future trades.

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Argentina flyhalf Tomás Albornoz has been suspended for four matches after admitting to misconduct for "intimidatory" interactions with match officials following the Pumas' Nations Championshiprugby loss against England last month.
England won 31-24, holding on despite twice being reduced to 13 men. The referee issued seven yellow cards during the July 18 match and both teams were reduced to 13 at stages in the second half at Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
The committee on Wednesday said that contact with referee Angus Gardner, "although limited in nature, occurred while disputing a match official's decision and formed part of that overall course of intimidatory conduct."
It also found that Albornoz approached the referee on two separate occasions and had to be restrained by teammates.
Although the offense could carry a six-match suspension, the committee took into account Albornoz's early acceptance of the charge, private written apologies and his previously clear disciplinary record to reduce the ban to four games.

The Boston Red Sox have not had Garrett Crochet for most of the season thanks to a shoulder injury.
Crochet was the American League Cy Young Award runner-up last season, but was off to a poor start this year. He had a 6.30 ERA through six starts, but it's possible that the shoulder injury was something that was bothering him before he eventually went to the injured list. Regardless, all eyes are now on him trying to get back.
"Garrett started throwing yesterday, at 50, 60 feet," Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said on Tuesday, per MLB.com's Ian Browne. "So as you guys know, he's been down a while. We're in the very infant stages of very short [distance]. But he did have a ball in his hand and was throwing it, which is good. So he's probably going to be in that really short range throwing for now, and then we'll move him along as he goes."
Crochet still has a long way to go, but it's early August right now, and the Red Sox do not really need him back until mid to late September if they want him to be ready for the postseason. Still, he has some big hurdles to clear.

He has been linked with the move to Albion for a few weeks and said conversations with Morrison gave him a "really good vision for the club" and that he saw a "lot of potential" with the squad.
Myhre will join his Norway - and former Brann - team-mate Aune Heggebo, at The Hawthorns and follows forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan, defender Conor Townsend, goalkeeper Matt Ingram and striker Barney Stewart in signing for the new season.

Hull City are among the clubs tracking Manor Solomon as Tottenham continue to reshape their squad before the Premier League season begins. According to I News, Spurs still expect several departures in the closing stages of the window, and Solomon is one of the names moving towards the front of that queue.
The 27-year-old has had pre-season minutes under Roberto De Zerbi, yet the wider picture appears clear. He is not part of the plans for 2026-27 and Tottenham are open to a deal. West Ham are described as the current frontrunners, although Hull City have registered interest and are watching developments closely.
Photo IMAGO
Tottenham's valuation is around £20m, with early bids potentially landing anywhere between £10m and £20m. That range leaves room for movement and makes this one worth following, especially for Championship clubs ******* sing whether there is a structure that could work.
Solomon joined Spurs on a free transfer from Fulham in 2023 but has struggled to establish himself in north London. He has made only five senior appearances for the club and has since taken in loan spells at Leeds United, Villarreal and Fiorentina. There were moments when a route back looked possible, but another temporary exit followed and the expectation now is for a permanent move.

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza City (AP) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that Israel will not withdraw from its current lines in Gaza until Hamas has completely disarmed and pushed back on a recent deal announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu's remarks cast more doubt on the deal to disarm Hamas, which was seen as a potential breakthrough for ending the war. It also marked a rare public display of friction with the Trump administration.
The agreement called for Hamas to begin disarming and for Israel to halt its strikes and begin withdrawing from the roughly 60% of Gaza it currently controls. It was based on an October ceasefire agreement that ended major military operations and brought about the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza but has stalled on other fronts.
Netanyahu, who faces a tough battle for reelection in October, reiterated his stance that disarmament should come first. He said Israeli forces would continue to "do whatever is necessary to protect themselves, our territory, and our citizens."
The Trump administration "sent us a draft. We did not agree. It is not our draft. We sent our comments. … This is our position," Netanyahu said in a video posted on social media.

Mohamed Salah's next move appears to be taking shape quickly, with BBC Sport reporting that Trabzonspor have begun negotiations to sign the former Liverpool forward. The Egypt international left Anfield at the end of last season and is now in discussions over a free transfer to the Turkish club.
Trabzonspor have moved publicly and decisively, confirming that Salah is due in Istanbul on Wednesday. In their statement, the club said: "The player is planned to reach Trabzon in the evening of the same day." They added: "The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club's official communication channels during the day."
For a player of Salah's stature, the speed and clarity of the update is striking. Clubs often keep negotiations private until the final stages, so Trabzonspor's communication suggests confidence that this deal is advancing well. Salah, now 34, remains one of the most decorated forwards of the modern era and would represent a statement signing for any side in the Turkish Super Lig.

Chelsea are set to finalise an agreement with Rayo Vallecano over the signing of Pep Chavarria following a lengthy negotiation, according to The Athletic.
The Blues have made steady progress in talks with their Spanish counterparts and the deal is now in the final stages. The Spanish defender has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea.
Chelsea are also prepared to schedule a medical for the 28-year-old once the final details are settled.
The West Londoners have been looking to replace Marc Cucurella since the Spaniard joined Real Madrid in a £51.7 million deal earlier this summer.
In his absence, Chelsea had Jorrel Hato as their only recognised senior left-back, although academy prospect Landon Emenalo has featured in the position during pre-season.

"Only time will tell," Gibbs said on a return timeline.

There's a concept in biology called adaptive radiation. It occurs when a species enters a new environment with unoccupied ecological niches and rapidly evolves into multiple distinct forms. We see a similar pattern in technology. When a breakthrough technology emerges, it often triggers a wave of innovation, with a growing number of companies developing competing approaches and quickly filling what was previously an empty market.

Quantum computing appears to be following a similar path. The technology is still in its early stages, and a few companies are already racing to bring it into commercial reality, each pursuing different architectures and strategies. Unlike traditional computers, which process information as ones and zeros, quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits, that can represent multiple states simultaneously. That allows them to tackle certain highly complex calculations much faster than conventional computers.
The commercial potential is hard to ignore, with Grand View Research projecting the quantum computing market will expand from about $1.9 billion in 2026 to more than $8 billion by 2033.
