Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) garnered significant investor attention after it unveiled a new 800V DC-native fuel-cell power architecture on September 16, designed to supply continuous direct current to the next generation of AI data centers.
These solid-oxide fuel cells can generate continuous 800V DC power natively, rather than producing AC power that then has to be converted into DC that AI computing equipment ultimately consumes. This potentially removes several conversion stages, such as transformers and switchgear, thus lowering capital cost and energy losses.
Bloom claims that its technology can cut non-compute capital expenditures for a 1 GW data center by $3.6 billion, or 27%, and lower five-year total cost of ownership by $5.5 billion, or 9%, compared to traditional AC-based infrastructure.
With this technology, Bloom Energy is targeting one of the biggest bottlenecks in the ongoing AI boom – securing large amounts of reliable power quickly and economically. If 800V DC becomes widely adopted across AI data centers, the company will benefit not only from the soaring power demand, but also from a broader shift in how that power is generated and delivered.
Bloom Energy pointed to Nvidia's planned adoption of 800V DC architecture beginning with Rubin Ultra and Kyber systems as an indication of where data center power infrastructure is heading. In its 2026 Mid-Year Data Center Power Report, Bloom claimed that data center leaders expect DC-based architectures to account for 58% of new deployments by 2030, potentially creating a significant market for technologies designed around direct-current power delivery.

Israel-headquartered Econergy on September 15 said it is entering the French market with a €134-million ($155 million) acquisition of Escofi, a private wind energy platform of about 740 MW.Econergy, which has offices across Europe, said the deal significantly expands the company's European wind ******* et base, bringing its total renewable portfolio to 13 GW. Escofi, founded in 1988, originates, finances, builds, and operates onshore wind projects, with its wind energy portfolio across four development stages: 128 MW in commercial operation, 34 MW under construction, 147 MW in advanced development stage (with building permits and grid connection approvals in place and construction due to commence between 2028 and 2030), and 432 MW in early and mid-stage development.Escofi's portfolio is concentrated in the Hauts-de-France and Grand Est regions of northern France, which officials said have the strongest onshore wind conditions and regulatory environments in the country.
More than 90% of Escofi's operational and under-construction capacity benefits from 20-year contracted revenues under France's Contracts for Difference (CfDs) regime, providing a stable, long-term revenue stream for the portfolio. Escofi in July of this year secured additional CfDs for three more projects totaling 46 MW at prices above €80/MWh ($92/MWh) for 20-year terms, further strengthening the portfolio's contracted revenue base."The acquisition of Escofi is a significant strategic step for Econergy, establishing our presence in France and materially expanding our European wind platform," said Eyal Podhorzer, CEO of Econergy. The CoinEx crypto exchange is shutting down its operations after nine years, citing a "prolonged" crypto market downturn, shrinking trading activity and rising compliance costs across major jurisdictions.
The exchange said the wind-down will begin on Sep. 15, with services being withdrawn in stages before the platform closes completely on Dec. 22.

Kalib Perry is officially cleared to play for Louisville football (for now) and will be able to play in Saturday's game against No. 16 SMU.
On Monday, Sept. 14, a Jefferson County judge granted the linebacker's motion to join a lawsuit that granted several other athletes a temporary restraining order on the NCAA's stay request in the Wisne v. NCAA case. The stay request deemed those who entered college in 2022 ineligible of receiving a fifth year under the NCAA's new 5-for-5 ruling. Cardinals cornerback Jabari Mack is also part of the TRO and had two tackles and two pass breakups in the season opener.
Perry missed the first two games but is listed on the Cards' 2026 roster. He and Mack announced plans to come back to Louisville under the new 5-for-5 rule Aug. 15. They were active participants during the latter stages of fall camp until the NCAA's stay request was granted Aug. 21. Mack wasn't affected, having been part of the initial TRO, while Perry was deemed ineligible.
"Pretty much every day, we just call over compliance," Louisville head football coach Jeff Brohm said Aug. 21. "They tell us what we can do and not do, and we roll with it. … If your guys are here, you'd like them to be able to practice and play. So we're hopeful that can happen."
Perry was granted a motion to join the local lawsuit and apply the TRO to his eligibility on Sept. 3 but the NCAA filed an emergency appeal, which was denied, and a regular appeal after. In response to Perry's motion, the NCAA stated Thursday that Perry's inclusion "raises complex legal and factual issues that are not part of the primary dispute before the Court." It cited the football player having entered the NFL draft, though he went undrafted, and participated in NFL minicamps with the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee ******* ans. On Aug. 27, the ACC released a statement that banned players that "previously declared for an NFL, NBA or WNBA Draft, and did not appropriately withdraw consistent with NCAA requirements to retain eligibility."

Heading into the match, Newcastle had won four out of four and were sure to be a tough test for Darren Fletcher's side, who have been in scintillating form.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox labeled Maxx Crosby and Kayvon Thibodeaux as being two star edge rushers that the Patriots ought to trade for in 2026, in the event that they pursue a player to fill their needs in the trade market.
"If another team comes calling about Crosby, the Raiders will undoubtedly listen," Knox said. "They're in the early stages of a rebuild and may not be ready to contend while Crosby is still in his playing prime. The asking price will be high, but teams that believe they can chase a Super Bowl are bound to target him before November 10."
Crosby is a superstar edge rusher who has the talent to take New England over the top in the Super Bowl race. Giving up draft picks and a player or two will do the Patriots much good to stack their roster with Drake Maye, A.J. Brown, Christian Gonzalez, Romeo Doubs and Crosby as the heaviest-hitters on their team.

Oklo's Aurora microreactor, which is much smaller than conventional nuclear reactors, only generates 1.5 MWe per unit. However, its modular design allows it to be deployed alongside additional reactors to generate up to 75 MWe per "Powerhouse" power plant. That's tiny compared to a conventional nuclear power plant, which typically generates at least 1,000 MWe, but Aurora's Powerhouse plants can be deployed on less land in remote, off-grid areas.
The Aurora also uses metallic uranium fuel pellets, which are denser, have higher thermal resistance, and are cheaper to produce than the uranium dioxide fuel pellets that power conventional reactors. By recycling its pellets in a closed loop, the Aurora can last for a decade without refueling. Conventional reactors are still refueled in stages every two years.

The two companies are at different stages of building their AI businesses. CoreWeave, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWV) reported $2.575 billion of second-quarter revenue, up approximately 112% from a year earlier. Its revenue backlog stood at approximately $104 billion as of June 30, excluding more than $25 billion of additional customer commitments secured in early July. Furthermore, active power reached 1.5 gigawatts, while contracted power rose to approximately 3.7 gigawatts. CEO Michael Intrator said on the company's second-quarter earnings call that "our near-term capacity remains effectively sold out." He also described broadening customer demand and rapidly expanding enterprise adoption.
Meanwhile, IREN Limited's (NASDAQ:IREN) AI Cloud Services revenue reached $128.8 million in fiscal 2026, compared with $16.4 million a year earlier. Total fiscal 2026 revenue was $707 million, including $578.2 million from Bitcoin mining. The company reported $4 billion of contracted AI annualized run rate revenue for 2026 capacity, with $1 billion of operating ARR as of August 26. CEO Daniel Roberts said on August 27 that its 2026 capacity was "largely sold out." Roberts said recent three-year contracts represented more than $20 million of revenue per megawatt and that customer prepayments represented 45%-55% of ****** ociated GPU capital expenditures.
CoreWeave, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:CRWV) capital requirements remain substantial. The company spent $9.4 billion on capital expenditures in the second quarter and raised its 2026 CapEx forecast to $35 billion-$39 billion. It also reported $640 million of net interest expense and a $626 million net loss for the quarter. Total debt stood at $35.6 billion as of June 30.

The Justice Department has initiated a criminal investigation into allegations that the Los Angeles Clippers used secret endorsement deals to boost its star player Kawhi Leonard's income while violating the NBA's salary cap, the New York Times reported, just a week after the league suspended the team's billionaire owner Steve Ballmer for a year.

Citing unnamed sources briefed on the matter, the Times reported that the matter is being investigated by prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn and the probe is in its "earliest stages."
The report noted that prosecutors have already issued a subpoena as part of the probe, but details of the crimes being investigated remain unclear.
The DOJ investigation began before the NBA handed out its own punishments against the Clippers—including a year-long suspension of the team's owner and ninth-richest person in the world.

The NBA brought the hammer down on the LA Clippers and owner Steve Ballmer for circumventing the salary cap to funnel more money to Kawhi Leonard — and now federal prosecutors are looking into the matter.
The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the Clippers' efforts to secure "no-show" endorsement deals for Kawhi Leonard, the New York Times reports. This investigation is being run out of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, the office that has traditionally looked into issues with professional sports leagues.
The investigation is in its earliest stages, and it's unclear what, if any, federal charges could come out of it, according to the report.
The Justice Department investigation comes in addition to the Securities and Exchange Commission looking into Daktronics' role in the scandal, as it had an endorsement deal with Leonard despite never having had a celebrity endorser before and there being no evidence Leonard did anything for the company. Daktronics is publicly traded, and the SEC is tasked with protecting shareholders.
The NBA oversaw a year-long investigation of its own into the Clippers working to circumvent the salary cap with Leonard and last month came down with the harshest penalties ever imposed on a team:

ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) have given investors a clearer view of their next manufacturing transition. The important distinction is when each company might earn a return.
Their September 8 announcement says TSMC intends to introduce ASML's High-NA extreme ultraviolet technology into high-volume advanced-node manufacturing starting in 2030. A separate initiative targets a larger photomask pilot line in 2031 and corresponding lithography systems for advanced production in 2033.

DBS has introduced two new payment cards, Chromo and TravelLah!, aimed at spending habits and preferences among Gen Z customers in Singapore.
The Singapore-headquartered lender stated that both products are designed to help young adults "maximise rewards" on daily spending and "get more value" when they spend overseas.
DBS launched Chromo on 5 September. It described Chromo as the first credit card in Singapore designed to "automatically adapt" to the spending habits of Gen Z customers.
The card provides bonus cashback on a customer's top two eligible local spending categories each month, removing the need for cardholders to pre-select categories.

Manchester City completed the signing of Allan from Palmeiras during the lattee stages of the summer transfer window. The Brazilian winger is one of Manchester City's more intriguing signings for some time. Allan has taken a different route to earn his move to City. He rose through the ranks at Palmeiras before establishing himself on the right wing for Abel Ferreira's side. It was hoped that Allan would be in the City squad for last Saturday's match against Coventry City. But that wasn't to be. Instead, he could be in line to make his City debut against FC Porto tonight.
It was a surprise that Allan didn't make the bench for Manchester City's win over Coventry City last Saturday. However, it was reported by Enzo Krieger for CityXtra that Allan wasn't deemed fit enough to play at the Etihad. However, that situation has quickly changed. Allan has been included in Manchester City's travelling squad for tonight's match against FC Porto at the Estádio do Dragão. Also, he did train with his teammates yesterday. At this stage, it would be a major surprise if Allan wasn't at least on the bench for the opening fixture of Manchester City's 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign.
There would seem to be little chance that Allan would start tonight against FC Porto. He hasn't been at Manchester City for long and the Brazilian winger also wasn't fit enough to make the bench against Coventry City. Stranger things have happened but it would be unlikely that Allan will start tonight.
However, there is a chance that Allan could come off the bench tonight. Perhaps being an impact substitute may be the best way for Maresca to introduce Allan to the fold. The Brazilian winger is a quick winger blessed with quality dribbling skills and the ability to work hard on both sides of the ball. Maybe that is how Allan will make his City debut and tonight may be the right setting for Allan to play a small role for Enzo Maresca's side depending on how tonight's match unfolds.
Allan was included in Manchester City's travelling sqaud for tonight's match against FC Porto. So there is a chance that one of the more intriguing signings that City have made could get on the pitch for the first time as a Manchester City player. Whether or not it occurs remains to be seen but Allan's City debut is edging ever closer.

The first race of the Chase did not go the way Denny Hamlin was hoping for on Saturday at Darlington.
Heading into the Chase as the top car in the standings and the favorite to finally win his first championship, Hamlin was hoping to extend his lead on the field with a strong finish at the Track Too Tough to Tame.
While the No. 11 ran out front to start the race, a poor pit stop later put him out in the middle of the field, where he made contact with Michael McDowell. That contact caused a bit of damage that kept him from the speed he had maintained early in the day, and Hamlin ultimately had to settle for an 18th-place finish.
After the race, Hamlin was frustrated, as he felt his car was just starting to peak when the contact occurred.
"Certainly not the finish we were hoping for. Good first couple of stages. Just got to where our car was actually the best right before that wreck in stage three," Hamlin said. "We certainly made gains on it all day. It was really good in the short run, we got it really good in the long run by the time that third stage came, but never got to see it through."

Iren (NASDAQ: IREN) is my favorite neocloud stock. Nebius (NASDAQ: NBIS) is also a strong contender and slightly ahead of Iren in revenue recognition, but I do not believe Nebius should have a market cap almost four times Iren's.
The neocloud thesis is straightforward. Hyperscalers need access to compute, and companies like Iren create the data centers that supply hyperscalers with the necessary chips, power, software, and facilities.

A proposal to move the Chicago White Sox from Rate Field in Bridgeport to a new riverfront stadium in the South Loop is drawing mixed reactions from fans and elected officials as the team considers the concept as a potential future ballpark site.
Developer Canal Edge recently unveiled renderings for "The Railyards," a proposed mixed-use development near Roosevelt Road and Canal Street that would include a possible new home for the White Sox, along with residential, commercial and retail components and an outpatient care center for Northwestern Medicine.
The proposal remains in its early stages.
Fans attending a game at Rate Field expressed differing views on the possibility of relocating the team.

Jose Mourinho failed to win European football's premier competition during his first spell in charge, and that failure will drive him to ensure that he achieves this goal second time around.
If they are to claim La Decimosexta come next June, Real Madrid must ensure they finish inside the top eight in the league phase, as this will see them avoid the jeopardy of the play-off round, which they have featured in on the two occasions since the new format premiered. Getting off to a good start against Inter will be crucial, although Mourinho looks set to be without one of his key players for the match.
In the closing stages of the Betis defeat, Marc Cucurella had to be replaced by Alvaro Carreras. Mourinho revealed in his post-match press conference that the full-back suffered with cramps, but it has since been reported that the 2026 World Cup winner is a major doubt to face the Nerazzurri because of this issue, as per MD.
Cucurella will not be out for long, but the idea is that he does not recover in time to face Inter. Mourinho will know that taking any unnecessary risks with one of his key players would be unwise, which is why Carreras is likely to make his return to the starting line-up, having been left out for the matches against Malaga and Betis.
All being well, Real Madrid will be able to manage without Cucurella for the match against Inter. He should be fine to return for the encounter with Rayo Vallecano next weekend, at which point Los Blancos will try to return to winning ways on the domestic scene.

Creed pulled away to a 3-second lead over Corey Day and Sammy Smith, then massaged the lead to the checkered flag.
Creed opens the Chase with a win and a big boost to his championship hopes.
Justin Allgaier and Carson Kvapil battled for the lead for the entirety of the first two stages, but their cars' handling fell off in the final 40 laps as they each fell outside the top 10.

We put in a good performance, and the girls were focused. Some players who haven't started much recently got to play, but they all performed well and were on top form for the full 90 minutes. "Animals are amazing... that's why a lot of the girls are travelling with more pets now, because of how tough the life is on the road," world number three Jessica Pegula told reporters at the U.S. Open this week.
