Contech giant Procore has entered an agreement to acquire DroneDeploy, a prominent robotics and visual intelligence platform that's used in over 180 countries, according to a Wednesday announcement. Procore will acquire the firm for $845 million in cash, subject to customary purchase price adjustments.
When the acquisition closes later this year, Procore and DroneDeploy will sell one another's solutions to their client base, Ajei Gopal, president and CEO of Procore, said in the announcement.
The combination will create a veritable ocean of construction data. By pairing the two tech companies' capabilities, builders will be able to use cameras, drones and robots to regularly evaluate jobsites and automatically initiate appropriate responses securely, compliantly and in context, per the announcement.
The deal underscores the power of data control in a landscape dominated by artificial intelligence. Simply put, data is king.

DETROIT, July 30 (Reuters) - Ford CEO Jim Farley told employees in a town hall on Thursday that the company is preparing for the possibility that Chinese automakers could enter the American market in the ‌next five to 10 years, even though the country has erected numerous trade barriers to cars from China, ‌according to three people who viewed the meeting.
Farley has been among the most vocal about how competitive Chinese auto giants like BYD are in the industry. Ford is preparing to roll out a family of affordable electric vehicles that it engineered from the ground up to match the cost and efficiency of the Chinese companies.
The Ford chief, along with other senior leaders, said in a question-and-answer portion of the town hall that it is more likely Chinese companies would enter the market at the latter end of that range. The comments come as the ‌U.S. Senate is pushing to expand a ban on Chinese car sales in the world's second-largest and most lucrative auto market.
A Ford spokesperson declined to comment on discussions that took place during a private meeting with employees.

Okta on Thursday agreed to acquire AI identity security startup Permiso Security, betting that demand for protecting AI agents and other machine identities will grow as enterprises deploy autonomous software across their operations.
The identity management company did not disclose the terms of the transaction. But TechCrunch has learned that the acquisition is valued at just under $200 million and is structured as an almost all-cash deal, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. A spokesperson for Okta did not dispute the $200 million figure when TechCrunch asked CEO Todd McKinnon for comment about the deal, but the company would not comment on specifics of the deal terms.
The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of its fiscal 2027, Okta said, subject to customary closing conditions.
Okta's move to buy Permiso comes as identity management companies seek to expand beyond verifying users at login to continuously monitoring what users, applications, and AI agents do once gaining authorized access to a network environment. That shift has intensified competition to secure machine identities as enterprises embed AI deeper into everyday operations.
Permiso, which emerged from stealth in 2022, develops software that helps security teams spot suspicious activity in cloud environments after users or applications have been granted access. More recently, the startup has expanded its platform to monitor AI agents and other machine identities.

Rivian Automotive (RIVN) investors have July 30 circled on their calendars, when the electric vehicle (EV) maker is scheduled to report its second-quarter 2026 earnings after the market closes. The report arrives at a pivotal moment for the company, with optimism around its next-generation R2 platform growing, and production and delivery trends improving.
After raising its full-year delivery outlook earlier this month, Rivian now faces heightened expectations to prove that its operational momentum is translating into stronger financial performance. The upcoming results and, more importantly, management's outlook could determine whether Rivian has further room to run or whether investors should brace for renewed volatility.

Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ:HON) used to be one giant company that made everything from thermostats to jet engines. Not anymore. Over the past year, it split into three separate public companies: Solstice Advanced Materials, spun off last October; Honeywell Aerospace, spun off just last month; and Honeywell Technologies, the automation business that's left, which is what CEO Vimal Kapur now runs. This week's earnings report was the first one for Honeywell Technologies as its own standalone firm, and the stock jumped more than 5% on the news.
Since the aerospace spinoff only finished right at the end of the quarter, this report still includes some of Honeywell Aerospace's results mixed in, which makes straight comparisons tricky. Total revenue, including that leftover aerospace piece, came in at $9.72 billion, up 4% from a year ago and beating the roughly $9.5 billion **** ysts expected. Strip aerospace back out, and revenue for just the automation business was $5.19 billion, up 3%, beating the $5.02 billion Wall Street had modeled specifically for the smaller, standalone company.
On profit, adjusted earnings per share, including the leftover aerospace results came in at $4.52, actually down 4% from $4.72 a year earlier. On a standalone basis without aerospace, adjusted earnings were $1.95 a share, up 10% from $1.77 a year ago and beating the $1.82 **** ysts expected for the new, smaller Honeywell Technologies. There was also a one-time boost: net profit under standard accounting rules hit $5.68 billion, largely because of a $6.63 billion one-time accounting gain tied to deconsolidating Quantinuum, Honeywell's quantum computing venture, a separate transaction from the aerospace spin-off, not from the actual operating business doing better.
That raises a real question. Is this a genuinely strong first quarter as a standalone firm, or does the messy, one-time nature of a spinoff quarter make it hard to tell what Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ:HON) actually looks like going forward?
All three of Honeywell's remaining automation segments grew organically, and orders for the standalone business overall grew 16%, with backlog reaching about $20 billion. Building Automation was the standout, with organic sales up 9% and orders up 13%, driven by strong demand from data centers and hotels. Industrial Automation grew sales 4% organically on strong demand for sensing and measurement equipment. Process Automation, the one segment with sales down slightly this quarter, actually saw orders surge 24%, with Middle East orders alone up more than 50% on refurbishment projects, and management expects a "sharp inflection" in that segment's growth starting in the third quarter. Kapur said the results reflect a "year-plus long process to simplify our business," and that the benefits are already showing up.

Which Group of Six champion from the American Conference, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, Pac-12, and Sun Belt will get the automatic invite into this season's College Football Playoff?

Navy isn't quite as good as it was over the last few years, but it gets a few schedule breaks to be deep in the American Conference ****** le chase.

North Texas and Memphis are home dates, there's no East Carolina, Tulane, or USF to worry about, and the College Football Playoff committee would be forgiving if the Notre Dame game isn't pretty.

Liberty has a chance to go on a wonderful run with no Jacksonville State to deal with and no games against Power Four programs.

Going to Kennesaw State is dangerous, and it may take two wins over Western Kentucky in three weeks to win the Conference USA ****** le, but the overall schedule is light enough to be in the picture all season long - if it can somehow pull off a win at James Madison to kick things off.

The North American automotive industry is facing a dramatic change in the operational environment this year, which is marked by increased financing barriers and ongoing consumer price sensitivity. Since average auto loan interest rates are still more than 8%, consumers are delaying expensive discretionary upgrades, extending payment terms, and challenging aggressive price hikes. Legacy OEMs have been forced to give up unrestricted EV capital expenditure targets because of the sharp slowdown amid an overall shift to electric vehicles. That said, not every auto manufacturer is performing on the same level, with General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) serving as a case study on these dynamics.
General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) produced an exceptional second-quarter performance that showed impressive operational discipline in the face of this demanding macroenvironment. Strong pricing power and unit volume across its high-margin full-sized pickup and SUV categories, such as the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Tahoe, drove GM's $48 billion quarterly revenue. Due to this legacy strength, North American operating margins reached 8.6%, which boosted adjusted earnings per share to $3.57 and resulted in a 41% year-over-year increase, significantly above Wall Street estimates.
Importantly, General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) showed that its multibillion-dollar effort to streamline its EV division and properly size battery joint ventures is producing immediate financial results, allowing executive leadership to raise full-year adjusted operating income (EBIT) guidance to between $14 billion and $16 billion.
Meanwhile, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) had a much more divided operating narrative. Despite exceeding consensus estimates with adjusted earnings per share of $0.42 and matching GM on top-line revenue at $48 billion, underlying segment performance revealed ongoing structural friction. Due to enterprise fleet demand and high-margin software subscriptions, Ford Pro, the company's commercial branch, continued to be a high-margin cash engine. However, the company's electric vehicle division, Model e, recorded a sharp $1.26 billion quarterly operational loss, severely undermining these gains.
Based on a comparative valuation ******* ysis, here is a clear disparity between market price and operational execution. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) carries an EV/EBITDA multiple of 12.01x and a discounted forward price-to-earnings ratio of 5.96x. In comparison, while experiencing significant margin pressure from its Model E division and ******* embly delays, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) trades at a higher forward P/E of 7.88x and an increased EV/EBITDA multiple of 19.76x.

Cricket Ireland says "appropriate" security plans have been drawn up for the forthcoming men's one-day series against Afghanistan amid the possibility of protests.
The governing body has been liaising with stakeholders, including the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), to ensure the five ODIs pass off without incident.
Cricket Ireland's decision to host the series has been criticised because of the plight of women in Afghanistan who face severe restrictions on their rights and freedoms, with widespread barriers to education, employment, movement, public participation and personal autonomy under Taliban rule.
The first two ODIs will be played in Bready next Wednesday and Friday, with the remaining three fixtures at Stormont on 10, 12 and 15 August.
"Appropriate security measures are in place, and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and security of players, supporters, officials and staff," Cricket Ireland told BBC Sport in a statement.

Jul. 31—GRAND FORKS — Jade Hastings sat next to his 8H sprint car outside Cookie's Lounge on Tuesday night.
A steady stream of fans approached him to buy his t-shirts, get an autograph, express their appreciation for his 13-year racing career and ask, "Is this really it?"
The Grand Forks driver, who has won the last three Northern Outlaw Sprint ****** ociation ****** les, posted on social media last Friday that he's stepping away from racing after a dust-up with NOSA over a Facebook post.
What started with a critique of track surfaces blew up into a fine, a point reduction, and ultimately, one of the region's top drivers planning an exit from the sport in the prime of his career.
"Nothing's final yet," Hastings said when asked if there's any chance he races again this season. "I'd say I'm for sure going to take a couple of weeks off here, because I feel that's what I need. . . just relax and then see how I feel after that. Right now, I don't necessarily want to race too bad. I think that's why I need some time to figure it out. In a couple weeks, if I feel different, we'll probably go to Huset's once or twice and maybe Cedar Lake in Wisconsin at the end of the year."

The logistics industry has a dirty little secret: trailers sit idle for 30-40% of their lifespan, costing carriers and shippers millions. Chris Hines, CEO of REPOWR, reveals how their new Trailer Optimization Platform (TOP) is transforming this inefficiency into opportunity. Discover how advanced data feeds and an execution layer can automate repositioning, boost utilization, and reduce operational costs. Learn why optimizing your "dumb boxes" is the next frontier in supply chain efficiency.
Trailers sit empty 30% to 40% of their working lives — and sometimes more — while every other link in the freight chain has been optimized. That is the core problem Repower is targeting with its new Trailer Optimization Platform, known as TOP, which automates the repositioning of trailer **** ets from surplus markets to deficit ones. CEO Chris Hines, a 44-year industry veteran, joined the Chattanooga-based startup to push it beyond its origins as a trailer marketplace and into an execution layer that carriers have long lacked.
The stakes are significant. A dry van trailer that cost $10,000 at the dawn of drop-and-hook operations now runs $50,000 depending on tariff conditions, Hines noted. Large carriers routinely run trailer-to-truck ratios of 2.5 to 3 to 1, meaning a fleet of 1,000 trucks could be managing 2,500 or more trailers — often tracked across a patchwork of TMS records, spreadsheets, and whiteboards. "Everything else is optimized in our chain," Hines said. "The gates are optimized, the dock's optimized, the truck's optimized, loads, fuel, but the trailers just lag behind."
"Visibility of the **** et is not enough. You need the execution layer and the automation to move the **** et to its next location." — Chris Hines, CEO, Repower

Four teenage athletes from the Apple Valley Gun Club took home a second-place trophy from this year's Scholastic Action Shooting national championship in the Rimfire Optic division.
In this competition, participants use a semi-automatic .22 pistol with a red dot optic to shoot steel targets at set distances. They are scored on both accuracy and speed.
The High Desert shooters was the only team to represent California at the Ohio competition. Coach Ryan Gunn says he wasn't expecting the team to do so well, given there were 2,800 registered competitors, and some rimfire optic teams had more than 10 shooters to the Apple Valley team's four.
He told the Daily Press that he and ***** istant coach Jake Morrison are proud of how each High Desert shooter did.
"They competed against shooters with world record ***** les," Gunn said. "Our team did an impressive job keeping up. We had a great time out there."

Digital advertising spending in 2026 is expected to expand unevenly. According to the IAB's 2026 Outlook Study, overall US ad spend is projected to grow by 9.5% this year, with social media advertising growing 14.6%, well outperforming the broader industry. However, growth is not evenly spread across advertiser sizes, with larger consumer firms lowering marketing expenditure as one of the fastest ways to maintain profitability amid wary consumers and narrowing margins.
That's the backdrop in which Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT) is placing a significant bet: while the biggest social platforms compete for the same narrowing pool of massive brand advertisers, Reddit is slowly opening the door to small and medium-sized businesses that couldn't previously manage the cost of creating a personalized ad campaign.
That shift became clear when Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT) released a beta version of Reddit Community Intelligence on July 10, an AI-powered, free-form ad generator that provides advertisers with AI-generated creative recommendations customized to certain communities instead of forcing them to start from scratch. The tool is deliberately designed to make campaign creation easier for advertisers targeting community-specific audiences, which have traditionally found platform advertising too resource-intensive to bother with.
Wall Street research desks realized the structural significance of the self-service shift. On July 13, Citizens ***** yst Andrew Boone confirmed his Market Outperform rating and $240 price target for Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT), citing automated self-service technologies as a key revenue driver. Boone emphasized that lowering friction for smaller advertisers enables Reddit to capture previously untapped performance budgets, resulting in long-term, lower-funnel revenue streams.
Crucially, Reddit's advertising momentum was accelerating even before the Community Intelligence tool shipped. On July 10, Jefferies, drawing on conversations with agencies, added that Reddit, Inc. (NYSE:RDDT) continued to gain share in social media advertising through the second quarter. Agencies said that this was due to the platform's large and growing audience, growing reach, and more personalized targeting, a read that preceded the Community Intelligence launch and shows the platform was already winning before the tool even shipped.

Jul. 30—When 90+ Project Director of Programming and Coach Aaron Lewis asked the players at Thrive International's youth summer soccer camp how many of them weren't born in the United States, dozens of hands shot up.
Sitting in the grass at Franklin Park, those same players watched as four out of the five Spokane Velocity players who were visiting camp Thursday raised their hands, too.
"You're my GOAT," 9-year-old Mel Akon later told Velocity left-backer Moses Mensah while the kids collected autographs on soccer ****** , cleats and posters. "One day I'm gonna look like you and be like you."
"I want to see that," Mensah, originally from Ghana, answered without hesitation.
The annual youth soccer camp is run through a partnership with refugee resettlement organization Thrive International and sports-based youth development organization 90+ Project. This year, close to 200 kids, including kindergartners to 12th graders, from more than a dozen nationalities, arrived at Franklin Park to play soccer.

In its third-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings report, F5 showed $865 million in revenue (an 11% year-over-year gain), non-GAAP net income of $4.73 (a 14% gain), and offered growth and EPS guidance of up to 10% and $17.33, respectively.
It's no wonder FFIV shares are up 58% so far this year – and they could rise more. MoneyFlows data shows how Big Money investors are again betting heavily on the stock.
Institutional volumes reveal plenty. In the last year, FFIV has enjoyed strong investor demand, which we believe to be institutional support.
Each green bar signals unusually large volumes in FFIV shares. They reflect our proprietary inflow signal, pushing the stock higher:
Plenty of technology names are under accumulation right now. But there's a powerful fundamental story happening with F5.
