Sydney Sweeney, Marilyn Monroe related, according to new MyHeritage study appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
A new study by MyHeritage revealed that Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney is related to the late Hollywood bombshell Marilyn Monroe.
The study (via The Hollywood Reporter) showed that the actresses are ninth cousins, once removed. Sweeney and Monroe share a mutual ancestor, Ezra Perry (c. 1625–1689). According to the study, Perry was an early English settler in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
MyHeritage director of research Roi Mandel called the discovery "incredible." After all, Sweeney has been compared to Monroe in the past. He raved, "Uncovering their shared branch was incredible, it's a powerful reminder that humanity is one vast family tree, and when we dig deep, we uncover how remarkably interconnected we all are."

The US economy is stacking up wins, even if it doesn't feel that way for many households because of the resurgence in inflation.
The economy has now posted 78 consecutive months of expansion, the sixth-longest business cycle since 1854, per new ***** ysis from The Kobeissi Letter. This is well above the long-term average of 49 months and the median of 38 months.

By comparison, the longest period for the US economy without a recession was between 2009 and 2020, at 128 months. The record of course was broken by the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic, which ground the economy to a halt.

"Unconventional monetary policy, historically large budget deficits, alongside the AI investment boom, appear to be extending the duration of business cycles. The data says the US economy is remarkably strong," The Kobeissi Letter team said.
Meanwhile, the US economy is nearing an impressive achievement on the unemployment front.
The US unemployment rate is nearing a record number of consecutive months below 5%, Truist chief strategist Keith Lerner said in a note on Monday. The longtime record dates back to the mid-1960s.

Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis' relationship has taken an unexpected turn. Zilis, the Neuralink executive who shares four children with Musk, announced on Friday, Oct. 2, that their romantic relationship had ended. Her account suggests the split happened remarkably quickly, with Zilis saying she went from being in love to being "let go" within a week.
"It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that's just how it is sometimes," Zilis wrote on X. Zilis shared a screenshot of what she presented as an affectionate text conversation with Musk from shortly before the breakup.

One of the world's largest companies has become a cash-return machine of historic scale, but its engine is now facing a serious test.
With Apple (AAPL) stock trading near $337 a share, an owner might ask a simple question. The company has returned a fortune in cash while the stock has dramatically outperformed the market; was holding worth it, and can this machine keep running?
Over the last five years, Apple sent $510.4 billion in cash back to its shareholders. That sum, equal to about 10.3% of the company's current market value, is the largest capital return of any U.S. company Trefis tracks over that period. The question is what that extraordinary payout says about the business today.
The money printer is Apple's core business, which generated $136.68 billion in free cash flow over the last twelve months. In its most recent quarter, the company reported record June-quarter revenue, with iPhone sales growing 22% and Mac sales growing an impressive 29% from a year ago. Management noted that the iPhone and Mac were "both doing remarkably better than we thought they would do."
That operational strength funds the shareholder returns. The five-year payout was heavily weighted toward share repurchases, which totaled $434.5 billion, with another $75.9 billion paid in dividends. Apple's absolute dollar payout stands alone, even though the 10.3% of market value it returned sits well below the 16.9% median for S&P 500 companies.

There are plenty of reasons for investors to be nervous about stocks right now. Inflation remains stubbornly high. Treasury yields are climbing. And traders now see a 90% probability that the Federal Reserve raises interest rates at its September meeting this week.
Yet I'm still buying and holding the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (NYSEMKT: VTI).

The reason comes down to one thing. Corporate earnings are proving remarkably resilient and are projected to continue growing at a healthy rate through at least the end of 2027.
Stocks don't necessarily need falling interest rates to move higher. If corporate profits keep growing fast enough, earnings can push stock prices higher over the next six to 12 months.

Broncos news: Drew Brees nearly unretired to play playoff game for Denver appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Hall of Famer Drew Brees came remarkably close to returning to the NFL last season after the Denver Broncos lost quarterback Bo Nix to a fractured ankle in their divisional-round overtime win over the Buffalo Bills, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday.
With the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots approaching, then-Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and offensive ***** istant Pete Carmichael contacted Brees about potentially playing for Denver. Both coaches had previously worked with Brees during their time with the New Orleans Saints, giving the situation an immediate connection to the quarterback.
Brees, who was 47 at the time, did not reportedly immediately reject the proposal. Instead, he wanted to determine whether his body could handle an NFL comeback. He worked out with the possibility of playing in the AFC ***** le game, but discomfort in his wrist ultimately ended the idea.

Eli Willits has made his primary goal crystal clear ever since he joined the Nationals organization. He wants to be a big leaguer by the time he is 20 years old. For most players, that is a pipe dream. However, Eli Willits is not most players and he made that very obvious this season.
The 18 year old just finished his first professional season in style. Willits got promoted to Double-A for the last week of the season. While he only got to play three games, the last one was legendary. Willits had a four hit game which included his first AA home run and two stolen bases. It was an amazing final act to a wonderful season.
With Willits finishing the season in AA, he is putting himself in position to make a debut late in 2027. Despite being such a young player, Willits is remarkably polished. This comes from being the son of a big leaguer and being obsessed with the game ever since he could walk.
When I talked to Willits earlier this season, it was very clear that three things truly mattered to him. Eli Willits is all about family, faith and baseball. You will be hard pressed to find a more business-like 18 year old out there. As Willits put it, he grew up in an MLB clubhouse and it is easy to see that.
That baseball IQ manifests itself on the field. When I watched Willits for the first time in Low-A, the thing that stuck out to me most was how natural he looked. Willits looked like a big league caliber defender at shortstop already. While many young shortstops, even the defensively gifted ones make a lot of errors, Willits is already so secure. He only made 8 errors all season as an 18 year old.

It appears the Minnesota Vikings lit a top 10 draft pick on fire by selecting J.J. McCarthy. Remarkably, it might not matter.
Like in 2024, head coach Kevin O'Connell has a high profile reclamation project ready to lead his offense. Sam Darnold got his team to 14 wins that fall. Now Kyler Murray gets the opportunity to do the same. He'll be flanked by the league's best wide receiving corps and a defense stuck on "shaken hornets nest" at all times.
Murray is playing on a one-year prove-it deal. He'll test himself against one of the toughest and deepest divisions in the NFL. Let's take a look at how Minnesota got here and what its 2026 might look like.
There's still time for JJ McCarthy to embody the potential the Vikings saw in him when they made him the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. But, uh, hoooo buddy, it doesn't look good. His 66.5 percent on-target throw rate ranked 33rd of 33 qualified quarterbacks, nearly three full points below No. 32 Caleb Williams. Since Pro Football Reference began charting that stat in 2019, only one player has been worse: Anthony Richardson in 2019. Ooooof.
That leaves Murray with a path to redemption after his Arizona Cardinals career flamed out. He's been a nest made of vacated promise after his Pro Bowl 2021 season. His 0.097 EPA per dropback since then ranks 20th out of 33 quarterbacks to play at least 1,000 snaps, just behind a diminished Kirk Cousins. But this is his age 29 season. But he was a useful dual-threat presence as recently as 2024 (where, admittedly, Arizona went 8-9) and now gets the most talented supporting cast of his career.

The Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has watched Stephen Curry's incredible journey up close, witnessing how the undersized guard developed into a global superstar and one of the greatest point guards in NBA history. However, despite spending more than a decade playing alongside Curry, Green still believes someone else deserves the ****** le of the best point guard he has ever played with.
Ernie Johnson stands as one of the most respected and beloved voices in modern sports broadcasting. He is best known as the longtime host of TNT's critically acclaimed studio program Inside the NBA. However, Johnson has never played a single NBA game. Despite that, Green delivered a remarkably bold ****** sment of the veteran broadcaster during the latest episode of The Draymond Green Podcast, surprisingly naming Johnson as the best point guard he has ever played with.

George Kittle is making a valiant return from a torn Achilles tonight in the San Francisco 49ers' season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. It's been only eight months since he suffered the injury, a remarkably fast recovery for any player, let alone a 32-year-old tight end who plays a particularly physical style.
A seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, Kittle has been one of the best at his position for nearly a decade. If he can successfully return to form after his Achilles injury, it'll only bolster his Hall of Fame case.
As Kittle makes his way back to the field, his wife, Claire Kittle, will be cheering him on. Here's what we know about Claire.
Claire is a former Iowa basketball player who now works as an influencer and model. The Kittles met while freshmen at Iowa, according to People, and they were friends for eight months before they began dating. Claire and George eloped in 2019 and got married again in 2021 to celebrate with friends and family. The couple enjoys comic books and video games, plus they live in Nashville in the offseason.

The August consumer price index is due Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET and could determine whether the Federal Reserve raises interest rates next week, with the decision potentially coming down to whether core prices rise 0.2% or 0.3%.
Markets are increasingly leaning toward a hike after Thursday's producer-price report showed inflation remaining stubbornly high, even as Wall Street remains remarkably confident that core CPI will come in at 0.2%.
The median forecast among 17 economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal is 0.22%. Every estimate, ranging from just 0.16% to 0.24%, rounds to 0.2%.

Kimi Antonelli's stunning victory in the Italian Grand Prix from 19th on the grid will go down in Formula 1 folklore - and, remarkably, his team boss Toto Wolff said that he had seen it coming on Saturday.
After Sunday's race, Wolff said that beforehand he thought that one of his two drivers was going to be standing on the top of the podium.
It was an eye-opening statement given they started the race 17 places apart on the grid, George Russell on the front row alongside shock pole winner Pierre Gasly's Alpine; Antonelli on the penultimate row.
"I thought one of the two is going to win," Wolff said. "Either George, because he was on the front row, or Kimi because he's going to walk over water, here at Monza. And I felt that yesterday also."
Wolff was asked to explain why he felt a performance he was comparing to a miracle was on the cards.

Antonelli's performance is the second furthest back a driver has ever come from to win a grand prix after John Watson's victory from 22nd on the grid in the 1983 United States Grand Prix West.
It was a statement performance from the 20-year-old, who remarkably was on Russell's tail and challenging for victory within 16 laps of the start.
Antonelli looked capable of winning any which way, but decided to stop for fresh tyres under a virtual safety car mid-race and narrowed a 15-second gap to nothing before carving past Russell.

Division III powerhouse Mount Union lost its first regular-season game since 2016 on Saturday.
The Purple Raiders fell 24-23 to Wheaton in their 2026 season-opener after Wheaton blocked a game-tying extra point with 22 seconds to go. Mount Union's Kayden Minner scored on a 1-yard run ahead of the failed extra point, and the Purple Raiders elected to go for the tie and potential overtime instead of what could have been a game-winning two-point conversion.
After blocking the PAT, Wheaton then recovered Mount Union's onside kick.
The loss snapped a regular-season win streak that lasted 85 games. Before Saturday, the last time Mount Union lost a non-playoff game was on Nov. 12, 2016, when John Carroll scored a 31-28 win. Most of the members of that Mount Union team are now in their 30s.
Mount Union made the semifinals of the D3 playoffs that season and won the 2017 national ****** le with a 15-0 season. Since then, the team has, remarkably, not won a national championship as the regular-season win streak lived on. Michael Reschke believes Max Eberl's decision to publicly make João Palhinha, Bryan Zaragoza and Sacha Boey available for transfer did not hurt Bayern Munich's chances of getting a good deal for the three players.
Eberl was remarkably open about the trio throughout the summer, making it clear that Bayern Munich no longer planned with them and that the club was willing to let them leave.
Reschke, however, does not believe that public approach necessarily reduced their market value.
"Well, they certainly didn't become more expensive as a result. However, I ******* ume that these statements by Max were coordinated internally," Reschke told Abendzeitung.
There is an important distinction in that ******* sment. Eberl was not publicly criticizing the players or suggesting that Bayern Munich desperately needed to get rid of them. Borussia Dortmund have submitted their squad for the league phase of the Champions League to UEFA.
Still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in the spring, captain Emre Can has remarkably been left out of the squad.
It was thought that the veteran could be an option later in the first half of the season, but BVB apparently don't see that as realistic.

Illinois pulls away from UAB 42-23 behind explosive offense and late pick-six originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Illinois turned a bizarre, possession-starved home opener into a decisive 42-23 victory over UAB at Memorial Stadium, shaking off early jitters with hyper-efficient playmaking and a 59-yard pick-six in the final minutes.
The final box score read like an anomaly. In Alex Mortensen's official debut as the Blazers' permanent head coach, UAB controlled the clock for a staggering 41:03, running 79 plays to Illinois' 43 and out-gaining the home side 413 to 332. Yet Bret Bielema's squad never panicked, averaging 7.7 yards per play, committing just one penalty for four yards, and scoring on sudden bursts rather than methodical marches.
In his Illini debut, quarterback Katin Houser was remarkably poised, finishing 13-of-17 (76 percent) for 182 yards, three passing touchdowns, zero turnovers, and a 6-yard rushing score early in the fourth quarter.

The biggest opportunity for the stock isn't some futuristic gadget, but a powerful dynamic hiding in plain sight in its latest results.
Apple (AAPL) stock has delivered a handsome 40% return over the past year, and with the business firing on all cylinders, you might be asking a fair question: what on earth could drive it materially higher from here?
The answer isn't a secret new product or a far-off technological breakthrough. It's something much more immediate. The single biggest opportunity for Apple is simply its ability to catch up to the substantial, record-setting demand it's already seeing for its core products.
A 'Remarkably Better' Problem to Have
Apple's engine is running hot. In its most recent quarter, the company posted a record $109.4 billion in revenue, up 16% from a year ago. The growth in its core products was even more impressive. iPhone revenue surged 22% to $54.3 billion, while the Mac division put up its best June quarter ever, growing an eye-watering 29% to $10.4 billion. Management was candid about the situation, calling it a demand forecast issue. where the iPhone and the Mac are both doing remarkably better than we thought they would do.

The college football season got underway Saturday for what could be the sport's final Week 0. One of the teams that kicked things off was the historic USC Trojans.
However, something was noticeably off, and it was even apparent during the broadcast. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum looked remarkably empty as USC opened the season against San Jose State. The lack of attendance drew so much attention that the school eventually released a statement addressing the issue.
"We understand the factors that impacted Saturday's attendance," USC said via USA TODAY Sports. "We have high expectations and a premier home schedule this season, and we know the competitive advantage an electric Coliseum atmosphere can provide our program. We thank our fans who showed up Saturday and look forward to seeing increased attendance the rest of the season."
MORE: Is USC's terrible Week 0 attendance a big deal?
The Trojans officially announced an attendance of 51,144 for the game, their lowest figure under head coach Lincoln Riley and their lowest since 2018. However, the stadium appeared to have significantly fewer fans in attendance, creating an embarrassing visual for one of college football's most recognizable programs.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stan Wawrinka's Grand Slam career ended Monday when the 2016 U.S. Open champion lost 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3), 6-0 to Matteo Berrettini.

Pakistan's struggles in England have deepened after their batting collapsed for 110 in the first innings of the Lord's Test, prompting a brutal ****** sment from former England captain Michael Vaughan.

Pakistan arrived at Lord's hoping for a response after being beaten by an innings and 53 runs in the opening Test. The return of regular captain Babar Azam had also provided some optimism, but his comeback did little to change the visitors' fortunes.

Babar managed only eight runs, while Abdullah Shafique (5), Shan Masood (1) and Mohammad Rizwan (7) all fell cheaply. Opener Azan Awais offered some resistance with 46, but Pakistan were bowled out for just 110.

Vaughan was scathing in his ****** sment of the Pakistan batting line-up, arguing that England's bowlers were operating without any real fear of being punished.

"I'll be brutally honest. The England bowlers aren't being challenged at all. And this Pakistan batting lineup is possibly the easiest batting lineup I've seen in a long time to bowl to. And not only that, I think as a bowler, I think they're all queuing up to bowl because they know there are wickets out there," Vaughan said on the BBC Test Match Special.

"You're not going to get hurt. There's no batter that's going to hurt them. No one's going to damage their figures, and it's really, 'roll up, roll up, who wants to get the wickets?'," he added.

The former England skipper continued his criticism by questioning whether Pakistan's current batting unit was even of Test-match standard.

With England's bowlers repeatedly finding breakthroughs, Vaughan suggested the visitors had made life remarkably easy for the hosts.

"I think they all know that Pakistan aren't going to get big scores. So you're only going to be out there for 40 to 50 overs, so you give everything in every spell, you keep going to Joe Root saying, Err, I'll bowl another one.' There are so many wickets out there," said Vaughan.

He then made a particularly harsh comparison, suggesting Pakistan's batting resembled a second-division county side rather than an international Test team.

"It's so easy. They're still doing a good job, and they're still looking very threatening. And I think this bowling attack, the way they're bowling, will challenge better batting lineups if they continue in this fashion. But this is Pakistan batting. Is it second division county cricket? There's no way that they are batting in any standard to say that, that is a Test match batting lineup," he added.

Pakistan's batting woes have been compounded by the absence of opener Imam-ul-Haq, who did not bat in the first innings after suffering a calf strain while fielding at Lord's.

England capitalised on Pakistan's collapse to take a commanding position in the Test. The hosts finished the second day on 81/3 in their second innings, extending their overall lead to 261 runs.

After Pakistan's innings ended inside 38 overs, England remain firmly in control of the secon

We have however had five games across all competitions: two in League One, two in the League Cup and one in the Pizza Vase. Reading have recorded one normal-time win (3-0 at Stevenage) as well as two 1-1 draws that preceded shootout triumphs (Bromley, Wycombe Wanderers), a goalless stalemate at AFC Wimbledon and a 3-4 league defeat to Luton Town.
Performances have been somewhat mixed, with the display at Stevenage (6.64/10, going by our Player Ratings) the clear standout. Otherwise, three displays were remarkably similar (Bromley 5.6, Wycombe 5.64, Wimbledon 5.62), while the one against Luton (5.27) was a lot lower.
That all works out to an average of 5.75. For a bit of context, that's higher than the 2025/26 season-wide average of 5.59 and above every month that campaign but one (August 2025, 5.85).
So now it's time to pick a standout. We've narrowed the choice down to a shortlist of three players, and you can vote for your favourite at the bottom of the article.

The second quarter earnings season is nearly complete, and Nvidia's (NVDA) Q2 earnings beat on Wednesday served as a keystone to a remarkably strong stretch of corporate reports.
Nvidia stock jumped 8% on Thursday following the company's earnings release. Software and cybersecurity stocks also rose following a string of strong earnings reports. Salesforce (CRM), CrowdStrike (CRWD), and Okta (OKTA) stocks lifted by double digits in afternoon trading.
According to FactSet data, second quarter earnings for S&P 500 companies are on pace to rise 50% year over year, the highest growth rate since 2021. Artificial intelligence has been the growth engine of that broad-based earnings growth, Bank of America strategists noted.
In addition to Nvidia's results, investors weighed key updates this week from dollar stores Dollar Tree (DLTR) and Dollar General (DG), software companies Intuit (INTU) and Zoom (ZM), and other retailers like ******* 's Sporting Goods (DKS) and Kohl's (KSS).
Marvell (MRVL) stock dipped after the data center chip manufacturer's second quarter earnings beat and guidance raise wasn't enough for Wall Street investors.
