Baseball is the Spitaleri family business and, right now, business is booming.
Led senior Sean Spitaleri, Glen Rock is back in the North 1, Group 2 sectional final June 5, taking on Ramsey. Spitaleri is a pitcher/first baseman with a 9-1 record on the hill, a team-high 15 doubles and 28 RBIs. He's the North Jersey Male Athlete of the Week, presented by HSS.
Spitaleri couldn’t escape baseball even if he wanted to – news flash, he doesn’t – his father, Steve, is the Panther's head coach and his brother Jack is a starting outfielder.
“I am not here without my teammates or my coaches,” Spitaleri said after getting home from the Panthers sectional semifinal win in Vernon on June 3. “My whole team deserves a lot of recognition. I’m super lucky to be surrounded by a bunch of great guys, our bench guys bring energy and effort and that fires me up to give 110 percent.”
Sean has heard the question his entire high school career: What’s it like to have your dad as a coach? The answer is he loves it. Steve was a standout at Dominican University and runs a private baseball academy. Sean remembers being exposed to baseball growing up but not overly pushed in that direction.

The foundation has been poured; now the Kentucky Wildcats are looking to build the walls with 18 commitments already secured, and the Wildcats are sitting inside the 247 Sports Top 25 at No. 14 nationally. Will Stein enters another critical June recruiting weekend with momentum on his side. But as every successful recruiting class eventually learns, June isn't about protecting your position—it's about elevating it. This weekend could determine whether Kentucky's 2027 haul remains a solid class or transforms into one capable of competing with the SEC's recruiting powers.
Several of the Wildcats' top remaining targets will descend on Lexington over the next few days, including blue-chip pass rushers, elite offensive linemen, and impact defensive backs. For Stein and his staff, it's another opportunity to prove that Kentucky is no longer simply trying to keep pace in the SEC—it intends to challenge for territory traditionally controlled by college football's heavyweights.
Every recruiting weekend needs a centerpiece. This one begins with Indianapolis Warren Central No. 18 LB Sean Fox.
The explosive Navy All-American originally planned to visit Kentucky later this month but moved his official visit up, a move that speaks volumes about where the Wildcats stand in his recruitment. Kentucky held significant momentum throughout the spring before Georgia and Clemson intensified their pursuit. Now comes the most important stretch.
Fox has already experienced Athens. He's already seen Clemson. This weekend gives Kentucky its opportunity to remind him why the Wildcats sat atop his board earlier in the process. The battle won't be easy. Few programs win many head-to-head recruiting wars against Georgia and Clemson. But Kentucky doesn't need history this weekend.

Just days after acquiring Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns, the Los Angeles Rams are giving their new superstar a raise. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Garrett and the Rams have agreed to a reworked contract.
Florio doesn’t have the full details of Garrett’s new contract, but it’s a five-year deal and there are options available through 2038. Previously, Garrett was signed through 2030.
The Rams are giving Garrett a $35.7 million signing bonus and his salary will be at least $1.3 million, which means his total pay for 2026 will be at least $37 million. Previously, he was set to make $31.5 million, so that’s a raise of at least $5.5 million.

Upon hearing the news about Myles Garrett, many reacted with a strange combination of fear and relief. There's no other way to put it. For a brief second, thoughts were juggled about how dangerous Garrett and Jared Verse would be as a tandem. Then, we all dug a little deeper.
Verse was part of the trade package that sent Garrett from the Cleveland Browns to the Los Angeles Rams. Whew… That was close. No one was ever going to be able to stop L.A.'s pass rush with those two monsters together. Then came the angle relative to the Baltimore Ravens.
Garrett is finally out of the AFC North! Oh come on! You know you cracked a smile. Following an OTA practice session that was open to the Baltimore media, Zay Flowers took some time to wipe the sweat from his brow.
Most Ravens fans can relate. Something isn't being talked about enough, though. Jared Verse isn't some slouch. Sure, the Browns no longer have the game's best defensive player on their roster, but by moving him, they added the guy who is very capable of taking that ******* le from him at some point.
Cleveland also added draft capital to help them continue building their roster. In addition to Verse, they receive a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick. That's a nice haul. If they hit the target with those choices. They can certainly continue upgrading their roster.

LSU continues to make noise on the recruiting trail as the Tigers have emerged as serious contenders for Top-30 safety Karnell “Greedy” James, who is currently committed to Texas.
Now, LSU will get a chance to make its biggest impression yet as the highly touted defensive back heads to Baton Rouge this weekend for an official visit.
At 6-foot and 175 pounds, James is considered one of the top safety prospects in the country and remains a priority target for multiple programs despite his commitment to the Longhorns.
Official visits often play a major role in the recruiting process, and LSU will look to use the weekend to strengthen its relationship with James while showcasing everything the program has to offer. The Tigers have built a reputation as one of the nation’s top programs for developing defensive backs, something that continues to resonate with elite prospects.
While Texas still holds James’ commitment, LSU’s emergence this late in the process is noteworthy. If the Tigers can make the most of this weekend’s visit, they could position themselves as a legitimate threat to flip one of the nation’s top defensive backs.

CJ Abrams can make Nationals/Expos history with All-Star nod originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams is having an elite season, so much so that it could earn him his second All-Star nod.
Among qualified shortstops, Abrams is second (.289) to Miami Marlins shortstop Otto Lopez in batting average (.332), first in on-base percentage (.381), slugging percentage (.522), OPS (.933), tied with Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz in home runs (12) and tied for second with De La Cruz in hits (65).
Between Lopez and Abrams, one will be the National League's starting shortstop, but Abrams getting the nod would be historic for the Nationals, who were formerly the Montreal Expos.
Since the Expos founding in 1969, seven shortstops have played in MLB's All-Star Game, including Abrams: Trea Turner (2021), Ian Desmond (2012), Wil Cordero (1994), Hubie Brooks (1986 and 1987), and Cristian Guzmán (2008). Of all of them, none of them were named the starter, but according to MLB.com's Thomas Harrigan, Abrams has the best chance to be the first.

The Browns traded away the current defensive player of the year when they dealt Myles Garrett to the Rams earlier this week, but they emerged from the trade with the last two defensive rookies of the year.
Jared Verse won the prize in 2024 and linebacker Carson Schwesinger gave the 2025 Browns a pair of award winners on the defensive side of the ball. Verse has not been a member of the Browns for long, but the edge rusher knows enough about his new team to know that Schwesinger provides him with a comfortable security blanket.
“Man, that boy can fly," Verse said, via a transcript from the team. "Nah, he can work. I like that a lot. I like knowing that behind me that I can . . . I don’t got much to worry about if something, you know, I can play freely because I don’t have to worry if something gets by me. He’s going to be able to handle that. He’s going to be able to clean everything up. So now that’s the exciting factor of it.”
The Browns did not win much with Garrett on the roster, but they usually had a strong defense. The presence of Schwesinger and others provides reason to believe that will continue to be the case and the hope is that the other **** ets that Cleveland acquired will lead to more victories while Verse is a member of the squad.

WASHINGTON (AP) — For generations, the federal government enforced civil rights laws with an eye toward remedying historic, systemic discrimination against Black people and other people of color. The Department of Justice pressed schools to desegregate. The Department of Education worked to promote equal opportunity and held schools accountable for racial bias.
But under the Trump administration, efforts to address deep-rooted inequities for students of color are being cast as discriminatory against white students. Programs that have long withstood legal scrutiny are now quick to be deemed “ illegal DEI ” — diversity, equity and inclusion — by the White House. Schools that do not comply have faced threats to their funding, and in some cases, lost federal grants.
Civil rights lawyers describe the Republican administration’s actions as a complete inversion of legal history.
“It’s literally flipping the purpose of civil rights law on its head, not just harming Black students and students of color, but entire school communities,” said Michael Pillera, director of the Educational Opportunities Project at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. “It’s unmoored from the actual history of our country and untethered to the reality of life in this country.”
The administration has opened investigations or joined litigation over a wide range of efforts to address racial inequality. President Donald Trump's Justice Department is investigating programs to increase the number of teachers of color in Rhode Island and Iowa. Grants to districts to train teachers or recruit school mental health workers have been discontinued for mentions of diversity in recruitment.

In the classic film Field of Dreams, James Earl Jones, as Terence Mann, offers the line, “Baseball has marked the time.” I think it’s time for Mr. Mann to rethink his ******* ertion. In truth, the American sports calendar is marked by NFL football. To say the NFL has become a year-round passion is an understatement. The calendar starts with OTAs and the preseason. Then moves into the soap-opera saga that is the regular season. It continues through the playoffs, and culminates with the single biggest sporting event in the country each year: the Super Bowl.
It doesn’t stop there. Soon afterward comes the NFL Scouting Combine, free agency, and the NFL Draft. Thanks to this past Monday, we can now add one more date to that chronology: June 1.
This year, the date was all about two of the most significant trades in recent memory. Defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams and wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots.
So, when rumors become reality, where does the football viewer go for the latest information? The answer is ESPN’s NFL Live.
Marvelously hosted by Laura Rutledge, the June 1 edition of NFL Live became the top destination. Not only for news of the trades but also for deep ******* ysis of the deals.

The Cleveland Browns locker room has barely had time to breathe. On June 1, the Browns traded two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in one of the most shocking deals the league has seen in years. The move sent shockwaves across the NFL, leaving fans and ***** ysts scrambling for answers. Now, Jared Verse is the man Cleveland is counting on to fill that void, and he already has something to say.
Speaking to reporters after his first practice with Cleveland on Wednesday, the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year admitted the blockbuster deal caught him completely off guard. Verse admitted he was initially upset when he first heard about the trade, but said he was left with two choices: work or give up, and he has never been a quitter.
That resolve showed at the podium. Verse made clear he has no interest in living in Garrett’s shadow.
“I’m not here to fill anyone’s shoes,” Verse said. “Myles he’s a size 13, Nikes, whatever they are. I’m a size 13 and a half, size 14, Jordans. Like, everybody’s different.”
He added, “I’m not here to fill his shoes. That’s not my job, that’s not my description.”

49ers coach says rivals blockbuster trade felt like a gut punch
The Los Angeles Rams shocked the NFL world on Monday when they acquired two-time Defensive Player of the Year and seven-time All-Pro pass rusher Myles Garrett in a trade from the Cleveland Browns that sent three picks and Jared Verse back to the AFC North.
San Francisco 49ers offensive line coach Chris Foerster was among those stunned by the news, and he explained later on Tuesday why he's not happy about the deal.
"I said to Kyle (Shanahan), it's kind of a little gut punch, at first," Foerster said. "You feel like, 'Oh gosh.' Then you know, I woke up really early this morning, earlier than usual. I came in and just walked tape. I mean, he's an outstanding football player, and he's going to be a challenge for us to take care of. We had to play him last year. You got to do the best you can. Everybody has good players, and he's a great player. It's good for them, helps them. It will be a good challenge for us."
Foerster went on to confirm that the trade forced him to watch Garrett tape the next day.
"I sure did," Foerster said. "I just wanted to remind myself because it feels like it kind of came out of left field... You're sitting there saying, 'Oh, wow. What about this?' Then you remember him, but now we have in division. We'll play all of the time. He made a couple plays, and then you're like, 'Let me go back and look at the tape and see what it really was.'

It uses a proprietary platform to identify immune targets and design treatments that activate the body’s own T cells to fight disease.
TheFly reported on May 6 that TCRX announced its first-quarter 2026 financial results, covering the period ended March 31, 2026, along with a corporate update. The company reported revenue of $1.0 million versus $2.2 million in the prior-year quarter, reflecting lower research activity tied to its collaboration with Amgen. Research and development expenses totaled $21.9 million compared to $29.8 million a year earlier, while general and administrative expenses were $8.2 million versus $8.6 million, driven mainly by reduced professional costs and timing of spending.

Nearly two years after Harley-Davidson said it was rolling back its diversity, equity and inclusion programs, activist Robby Starbuck has fired up his campaign again, accusing the iconic motorcycle company of breaking its promises to root out “wokeness.”
Starbuck, who led a consumer boycott in 2024 over a range of “woke” offenses, from hosting an LGBTQ+ boot camp to supporting gay and transgender equality legislation, called on ride-or-die Harley buyers to switch brands.
"Harley-Davidson said they were dropping all these crazy woke policies I exposed," he said in a video on social media platform X. "I regret to inform you that unfortunately today I am going to have to expose them again.”
Chief among his concerns is the leadership of Artie Starrs, Harley-Davidson’s newly minted CEO who took over in October.
"So after an extremely tumultuous period where your brand was torn down and now is seen as weird, woke and weak, you're gonna bring in a CEO that is gonna, like, project the masculine identity of the brand right? The pro-America identity of the brand. Well, maybe not so much," Starbucks said before calling out Starrs for sponsoring a pride group and an LGBTQ+ golf tournament that raised money for San Francisco Pride when he was running Topgolf and for launching antiracism training for educators while CEO of Pizza Hut.

Myles Garrett was added to the Commanders schedule earlier this week. The Cleveland Browns weren’t suddenly part of Washington’s slate. Garrett became one after being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in a blockbuster deal made official on Monday.
The Rams got Garrett. The Browns got young edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a conditional 2029 third-round pick.
That means Garrett will face the Commanders in a Week 9 matchup at Northwest Stadium. He almost exclusively lines up over the left tackle, creating an epic matchup with Washington’s Laremy Tunsil one of the best at his position.
There’s a mutual respect between these two **** ans, which Tunsil made clear in a recent podcast appearance on “Strong Talk” posted by Men’s Health Magazine.
“Myles Garrett is the best defensive player in the NFL,” Tunsil said. “I’ve been playing against Myles since he was a freshman in college and that had to be, like, (2014). We’ve been battling ever since. Every time we see each other, it’s respect. It’s a different type of lock in, because he doesn’t want to lose and I don’t want to lose. We play the Rams in (Week 9), so it’ll be another fun one.”

Aaron Donald's return from retirement to Rams depends on one thing originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Rams, as of a week ago, were already looking at a very promising 2026 NFL season.
And then they traded for Myles Garrett. And now Aaron Donald might come back.
The Garrett trade was unexpected, sort of, but it was one of those deals that after the fact everyone looked at and could make some sense of.
A Donald return from retirement after not playing in the NFL since 2023? That'd be astounding.

Rams' new defender makes four-word unretirement pitch to Aaron Donald originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Is it really all that surprising that unretirement rumors centered on former Los Angeles Rams superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald are running rampant?
Monday was an eventful day for Los Angeles, as the franchise made one of the biggest trades of the offseason thus far.
“Bombshell: The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X/Twitter.
“In exchange for Garrett, the Rams are expected to send Pro-Bowl edge Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and other draft-pick compensation still being negotiated to the Browns (we now know that the Browns will also receive a 2028 second-round pick and 2029 third-round pick).”

Myles Garrett is already a Hall of Famer, but former NFL defensive end Chris Long thinks he will have the opportunity to become an all-time great at his position now that he's with the Los Angeles Rams.
Long, who is a former Rams star himself, recently said on his podcast that he thinks Garrett could play another eight seasons and break Bruce Smith's 23-year NFL sack record of 200. He also thinks Garrett will become the first player with 100 sacks for two different teams.
"I just looked at 125.5 sacks in his nine-year career. I think there's an interesting take here, and this is not a far-fetched scenario, but he plays another like eight years and accrues like 100 sacks—which for most people, that's laughable to project that onto a player," Long said. "But like, even into his 30s, I think this guy could average twelve and a half—12.5 sacks the rest of the way with the Rams. Especially if the Rams continue to play well and the Ty Simpson thing works out and all that stuff.
"But like, let's say he plays another eight years. The reason I picked eight years is because Julius Peppers played like 17 years. I think you're going to look up at the end of this thing and say, 'Myles Garrett breaks Bruce Smith's record, and Myles Garrett has 100-plus sacks on two different teams.'"
This would be a truly insane feat to accomplish in the modern NFL, but Garrett is built for it. He averages nearly 16 sacks per 17-game season and, if he stays healthy, could easily continue on that trajectory over the rest of his career.

The Philadelphia Eagles' trade sending A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots was just one of two blockbuster deals on Monday, June 1. However, the trades involving Brown and former Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, who is heading to the Los Angeles Rams, feature two players whose tenures end in very different fashions.
Specifically, Brown's relationship with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was a talking point throughout much of the past two NFL seasons, and the 28-year-old wide receiver addressed that topic during an honest conversation less than one day after the trade news broke.
Speaking with Maria Taylor on 7PM in Brooklyn, Brown was asked directly about Hurts and their relationship at the end of his tenure with the Eagles.
"Not as close as we once were," Brown said of his relationship with Hurts. "...There's no bad blood, there's actually still a lot of love. I love him to death, I want to see him accomplish all the things he want to accomplish. I didn't truly understand why our friendship became the center of everybody's attention when it came to football."
"People just got so fixated on the relationship and wanting to talk about the history... but that wasn't what this was. I have nothing but love for him...," Brown continued. "Nothing happened. People just grow apart, nothing happened between me and him, or our families, or our wives, anything. Life happens, you just look up sometimes and you find yourself drifting away."

The NFL landscape was shaken up considerably on June 1, as multiple blockbuster trades reshaped the league's power structure.
It started when the Los Angeles Rams acquired two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
Garrett – who set an NFL record with 23 sacks in 2025 – will provide the Rams a big-time boost to an already great pass rush that ranked fifth in pressure rate last season, per the NFL's Next Gen Stats.
Before the Garrett trade, most sportsbooks viewed the Rams and the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks as the co-favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy following the 2026 NFL season. After it, the Rams are in the pole position as clear-cut favorites to win Super Bowl 61.
That said, the Rams weren't the only Super Bowl contender to bolster their roster. The reigning AFC champion New England Patriots also added a top-tier talent to their roster, acquiring three-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.

We just covered From Fired Researcher to $13.7 Billion King: How Leopold Aschenbrenner Broke the Hedge Fund World and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) ranks 5th on this list.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is a new addition to the 13F portfolio of Situational Awareness LP. The fund declared a new stake in the company in filings for the first quarter of 2026. This stake consists of PUT bets worth close to 5 million shares. In the hedge fund world, Leopold Aschenbrenner is not alone in betting against AMD. Other elite money managers like Ken Griffin, Israel Englander, Sander Gerber, and Dmitry Balyasny have also declared bearish bets against the chip company. Of the $10.3 billion in Q1 2026 revenue for AMD, the data center segment accounted for $5.8 billion. However, NVIDIA continues to capture an estimated 90% to 95% market share of high-end AI data center GPUs.

Elite money managers have argued that Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is fighting an uphill battle against an entrenched ecosystem. The true moat for NVIDIA is not just the hardware, but the proprietary CUDA software ecosystem, which has millions of software developers locked in. Enterprise clients are proving hesitant to rewrite their entire software stacks to migrate to the open-source ROCm platform offered by AMD. Short-sellers calculate that AMD is being valued as an equal AI peer to NVIDIA, when it is actually collecting the residual overflow demand from hyperscalers who cannot secure enough NVIDIA allocation.
While we acknowledge the potential of AMD as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.

Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez is staying away from the team's organized team activities as he seeks a contract extension.
Teammate Marcus Jones explained Gonzalez's stance during Drake Maye's MayeDay Softball Classic. (Gonzalez participated in the event but apparently didn't speak to the media.)
“It’s a day-by-day thing. I’ve been in the situation of learning about how contract negotiations stuff goes about,” Jones said, via Karen Guregian of masslive.com. “At the end of the day, they want what’s best for them, and he wants what’s best for him as well.”
The Patriots exercised the fifth-year option on Gonzalez's contract, which would pay him $18.1 million for the 2027 season. He is scheduled to make $2.259 million in base salary this season.
Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie is at the top of the market at the position with an annual average of $31 million. Gonzalez and Seattle cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who also is seeking an extension, share the same agent.
