"I think that's what comes out of this," Green said. "Why is there a salary cap? Why are guys being prevented from making money from team sponsors or league sponsors, or whoever else? "We talk about, we're in a league that is player-centric, that is player-focused, that is player-driven, that has the best benefits, best interest for the players. And here's a situation where a guy can make 20 to 30 million extra dollars, and we're like, 'Oh, yeah, you're in trouble.' I'm happy Kawhi didn't get the bulk of this punishment. I think it's absolutely beautiful."

Since the Bruins legend called it a career, many professionals from across the sports world have reacted to the news, including a four-time NBA champion on his podcast, "The Draymond Green Show."
"Basketball fans, y'all suck. Basketball fans suck. And by the way, I am a basketball fan, so you can throw me in that category too. But basketball fans suck," Green proclaimed. "For the last eight to 10 years, all this guy has heard is how bad he sucks, how he don't shoot it well, how he stat pads and how he messes up teams.

At his NBA peak, Monta Ellis was a relentless, rim-pressure guard who enjoyed four separate seasons in which he scored at least 20 points per game. At his NBA peak, Steph Curry was the greatest 3-point shooter in the history of basketball; a bona fide pioneer who permanently changed the way one of the world's most popular sports is played, while serving as the MVP-caliber talisman for four Golden State Warriors championship teams. He is a franchise legend, an icon the Warriors will almost certainly construct some sort of statue out of his likeness years after he retires.
Yet Ellis, apparently, thinks their talent is comparable.
While talking about his background after becoming Alcorn State's new basketball general manager on Friday, Ellis claimed the only real difference between himself and Curry during their respective Warriors careers was that Curry played with stacked teams capable of making NBA Finals runs year in and year out. Whereas the best Golden State team Ellis ever played was a 42-win squad that upset the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 playoffs.
At a surface level, Ellis does have a point. In his prime, Curry shared the floor with three other surefire Hall of Famers in Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant. That definitely helped Curry be himself and focus on what he does best. Ellis never played with anyone like that in Golden State. What's funny is that the Warriors didn't think Ellis and Curry were comparable. Not that the Warriors don't have some first-round picks they can move on from, but there's a limited amount of talent on their roster right now to suggest that they can really put themselves in a good position to make a trade for one of the best players in the NBA.
That's an unfortunate part that the Warriors are currently dealing with, though there's one situation that's being viewed as a potential option with Draymond Green. After Green got his new contract, and with the Warriors having three tradable first-round picks, it's possible they could be looking at somebody like Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans.
"Now, it is a longshot that the Warriors would trade Green this season, though they do have three tradeable first-round picks that they could package, and Green's contract is hefty enough that it could bring back a star-caliber player (Trey Murphy of the Pelicans comes to mind).

Many believed he would end his brilliant career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, or Golden State Warriors. After all, he has history with the Cavs and Heat, and he's close with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green with the Warriors.
James won a ******* le with the Cavaliers in 2016, the third of his four ******* les, as he led Cleveland on a historic rally from being down 3-1 to Curry, Klay Thompson, Green, and the Warriors. The future Hall of Famer will now look to win a fifth ******* le with Philadelphia and lead the franchise to its first since 1983.
Iman Shumpert was a member of that Cavs team and gave his thoughts on James choosing the Sixers on "The Big Podcast" with Shaquille O'Neal:

The Golden State Warriors missed out on LeBron James and immediately pivoted to filling their roster with familiar names in an attempt to run it back — but they hope they stay healthy this time.
The first order of business was bringing back the heart and soul of their team, four-time All-Star Draymond Green, for his 15th NBA season. Green inked a one-year, $27.7 million contract, a person with direct knowledge of the deal confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.
He averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 ***** ists in 27.5 minutes over 68 games during the 2025-26 season. One of his most valuable ***** ets is his level of commitment on the defensive end, where he's compiled nine all-defensive selections and the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year award.
After finalizing Green's contract, the Warriors continued to focus on rounding out the roster with guys who know exactly what to bring to the table.

After a tremendous rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, VJ Edgecombe will now be playing alongside more superstars. In his first year, he played alongside stars like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, who are already fantastic players. However, in his second year, he will also be joined by Jaylen Brown and LeBron James.
Edgecombe is firmly fifth on the totem pole now, which is a problem for some people. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green even called him the biggest loser from the new-look 76ers squad. Despite that notion, it seems Edgecombe himself is not too worried.
As the youngest player in the starting lineup, it is understandable that Edgecombe has the most to learn. He has superstar-level talent, but he will have to play a smaller role for now because all the other players in the starting lineup are more proven than him.

Draymond Green had a special guest on "The Draymond Green Show" this week, as he was joined by Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle, a one-time NBA champion as a player with the Boston Celtics (1985-86) and a one-time championship as a coach with the Dallas Mavericks (2010-11).
During the appearance, Carlisle spoke about how all-time NBA players would dominate regardless of the era that they played in. In doing so, Carlisle gave Green a lofty comparison, saying, "Greatness is going to be great regardless of the era. You are going to try to tell me that (Bill) Russell wouldn't be great in this era? Russell, the guy who threw up before every game because he couldn't stomach the idea of losing? And he had such an impact on winning; can you imagine having that guy leading your team? That was the early version of Draymond Green."
Although Green is known as a four-time NBA champion and one of the stronger defensive players of his generation, the comparison from Carlisle seemed to wreak a false equivalence.
