Tommy McMillen doesn't always make it look pretty but he sure knows how to put on a show as he won a back-and-forth war against Marwan Rahiki at Noche UFC on Saturday.
The featherweights battled it out over three rounds with Rahiki nearly scoring a finish in the second round and then McMillen storming back to win the third round and the fight. It was a wild affair but when the final horn sounded, McMillen had done enough for the victory with the judges scoring the fight 29-28, 29-28 and 29-27 in his favor.
"Let's go Arizona!" McMillen shouted to his home audience. "He had a pretty good second round, busted me up a little bit but I knew I could out dog him.
"Tomorrow morning, I'm going hopt on a [plane] to Vegas and I'll be there on Dec. 12 waiting on my next victim and my next $100K bonus."
An early takedown opened the fight for McMillen but Rahiki was quick to break free and get back to the feet. The featherweights were just standing and banging with both landing some solid strikes along the way. A late pair of right hands from McMillen definitely caught Rahiki off guard as they continued blasting away at each other.

The Houston Texans are set to kick off their season at home against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
Houston has gotten the better of Allen throughout his career, especially at home, but he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the game, and this will absolutely be a competitive matchup.

Stillman Valley High School has announced the Athletic/Activities Hall of Fame Class of 2026, recognizing a coach, former student-athletes, community supporters and championship teams for their achievements and contributions to Cardinal programs.
The inductees will be honored as part of Homecoming festivities Sept. 25, according to a community announcement. The class includes girls basketball coach Bobby Mellon, former student-athletes Michelle ******* er Rogers and Dan Godfread, Friends of Athletics honorees James and Russ Elliot, the 2002-03 Scholastic Bowl Team and the 1989-90 Chess Team.
Mellon has led the Stillman Valley girls basketball program since 2010 and has compiled a 252-105 varsity record. During his tenure, the Cardinals won five regional ******* les, two sectional championships and a Big Northern Conference championship. Mellon also has earned Illinois Basketball Coaches ******* ociation District Coach of the Year honors five times.
Fager Rogers, a member of the Class of 1996, competed in volleyball, basketball and track and field. She helped two girls basketball teams qualify for the state tournament and qualified for the IHSA State Track Meet in the hurdles. Her honors included Girls Track MVP and SVHS Female Athlete of the Year.
Godfread, a graduate from the Class of 1985, became one of the school's most accomplished basketball players before continuing his career at the University of Evansville. He finished his collegiate career with 1,386 points, 737 rebounds and 226 blocked shots while earning first-team all-conference recognition.

Florida's "Gator Bait" cheer returned on Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Roughly six years after the university banned their longtime chant due to "horrific historic racist imagery" that was ******* ociated with it, Florida brought back the cheer with the Gators band in the first quarter of their blowout 66-21 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
The song and chant returning did not come as much of a surprise. The Florida band had been seen practicing the song ahead of the season-opener, and new Florida president Stuart Bell hinted in June that the chant could be making a return.
"I know there's a lot around the Gator Bait [cheer]," Bell said in June, via the Orlando Sentinel. "It's meaningful to the Gator family. I hope we're able to have some really great conversations around that."
Florida announced in 2020, back when Kent Fuchs was the university's president, that the "Gator Bait" chant would no longer be led by the band at sporting events. The cheer and song had been popular at Florida events for decades, and is often accompanied by the Gator Chomp gesture.

Celtic maintained their 100 per cent start to the SPFL campaign with a 3-0 win over Aberdeen at a rain-soaked Paradise last night (Wednesday) thanks to goals from Camilo Durán, Benjamin Nygren and Yang.

By the time Cincinnati Bengals players returned to their lockers post-practice on Sept. 1, they were well into the countdown toward the Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 13. The excitement of setting what's expected to be a deeper, more talented 53-man roster, plus the 16-player practice squad, had mostly faded.
Only two days earlier, several Bengals players were basking in the achievement of earning a spot on the initial 53-man roster, which teams across the NFL set Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. EDT. Other veteran players and coaches were savoring the depth, which was anticipated prior to training camp on the defensive side but eventually grew to include offensive players, too.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, who anticipated a tense and challenging weekend of sifting through difficult personnel decisions to arrive at his 53-man roster, said he ended up enjoying the cut-down process.
"It was ultimately fun to put together because we feel like we're really deep, even going out to the practice squad," Taylor said. "Yes, it was very challenging letting guys know that in other years maybe they would have made the 53, maybe would have made the practice squad, that they weren't going to get that this year or come back. But top to bottom, I feel like it's a really good group, and excited to get these guys."

The Pittsburgh Steelers completed the last of their roster cuts and moves to finalize their initial 53-man roster for the 2026 season. But the legendary James Harrison is less than thrilled about one release.
Taking to social media to air out his frustrations, Harrison called out the Steelers for releasing veteran linebacker and fan-favorite Elandon Roberts.
"I hope we don't regret this cause I didn't see this coming in a million years," Harrison wrote via X. "You telling me you brought this man in as a camp body? Cause that's **** sure not what it sounded like was happening when he got here. We gon find out quick if this was a good decision or not in Week 1 vs Bijan though."
Harrison's frustrations were echoed by Steelers Nation, as Roberts won over the Pittsburgh fandom thanks to his high-motor, physical style of play during his two-year stint with the team from 2023 to 2024.
Roberts went on to leave the Steelers for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, but ultimately returned to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal just a few weeks ago. It didn't take long for Roberts to impress fans once again, as the veteran defender made several huge plays during the preseason.

Happy Sunday Husky fans. Today is the last Sunday without Husky football football happening for the next few months, which means recruiting is kicking into gear again. High school football is also kicking off and several Husky targets saw their seasons start.
Teammates Blake Rospkopf and Zerek Sidney (from Desert Edge) both had solid outings in their first games of their senior seasons against Cactus Shadows. Roskopf had 416 yards through the air with 3 touchdowns and 1 INT. Roskopf, who is set to enroll early and also take part in the Army All American Game, is set to have a big year for Desert Edge this season. Sidney had a solid start to his senior season with 7 receptions for 142 yards and a 2 point conversion. It's nice to see solid production from Sidney who missed time last year with an illness.
The Huskies are hoping they can land their teammate, 5 star edge Jalanie George, in the 2028 class. George, who is set to visit Montlake next weekend for the Apple Cup, had a strong start to his junior campaign with 8 tackles and 2 TFL's. It's still early but the Huskies appear to be one of the favorites for George who is also looking at Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, and Miami. Listed at 6'5" and around 240 pounds George projects as a future edge and should have the frame and size to play early once he gets to college.
Edge commit Chaz Gray and his St Joseph Regional squad lost their season opening battle against Mt Carmel HS. Gray had a solid outing (I don't have his official stats), and he was disruptive and stout on the edge. Listed at 6'4" and around 250 pounds Gray already has a college frame and the Huskies are excited to bring him on to Montlake in January (it sounds like he will try and make his way to Montlake for the Apple Cup as well). Gray's brother Tahj is one of the top recruits in the 2028 class, and the Huskies are shooting their shot with him to see if they can land the talented linebacker and he is looking at UW seriously with his brother set to be a Husky(there is some stiff competition with Ohio State pushing really hard for him as well). Listed at 6'3" and around 230 pounds Gray is an active linebacker who is rated as the #1 linebacker in the country via his composite ranking.
Next weekend the Huskies will have a massive wave of visitors on campus for the Apple cup and I will make sure to share the list as well as some intel on most of the major recruits. That is all for today and as always follow me asieverkropp.

Filip Hrgovic ripped up the script and shattered Moses Itauma's world-title dream as the Briton appeared to punch himself out in an extraordinary heavyweight contest in London.
Itauma, 21, controlled most of the fight and scored a second-round knockdown but faded as his relentless output caught up with him.
Hrgovic weathered the storm and piled on the pressure in the ninth. With Itauma barely able to stand, his legs unsteady and body swaying before slumping in the corner, his team threw in the towel.
Itauma - who needed medical attention before leaving the arena on a stretcher - had been a heavy favourite after tearing through his first 14 opponents and was spoken about as heavyweight boxing's next superstar.
"He is the best I have been in the ring with, but he needs more experience. I knew I was losing the round, but I knew that I had the pace in my favour. He needs more experience, but he is one of a kind," Hrgovic said.

When it comes to scheduling, Siena men's basketball coach Nevada Smith isn't playing it safe in his first season.
The Saints on Thursday announced a nonleague schedule that includes guarantee games at Dayton of the Atlantic 10 on Nov. 10 and Big East members St. John's on Nov. 18 and Seton Hall on Nov. 28.
"Love it," Smith said. "We've got monster games on it. We have no bad teams. Our strength of schedule's going to be high. The three buy games are awesome for us."
With Thursday's announcement, Siena completed its 32-game 2026-27 schedule. The Metro Conference announced the 20-game league schedule earlier this month. The NCAA approved an increase from 31 to 32 regular-season games for the upcoming season.
As previously reported, Siena will open the regular season at Bryant Nov. 2. Then, the Saints will play their home opener against traditional Ivy League power Princeton on Nov. 8 at MVP Arena. The Tigers are coming off a rare bad year at 9-20.

The Golden State Warriors won't leave any shadow of a doubt that they want their franchise leader Stephen Curry to finish his career in the Bay Area.
Curry officially becomes extension-eligible on Saturday, Aug. 29 and sign a deal that takes him into the twilight of his career. That's been the dialogue.
General manager Mike Dunleavy publicly expressed that Curry playing with the Warriors until he hangs up the jersey has always been the message in their conversations.
"That's always been sort of what we discussed, and I think that's you know tracking quite well," Dunleavy told reporters earlier this month. "Obviously, he's eligible for an extension coming up at the end of this month, and you know we'll talk through all that stuff and can't speak on it much right now."
Both sides are expected to "engage with a mutual desire to keep Curry with the Warriors for the entirety of his career," according to ESPN's Anthony Slater.

Newcastle United are set to sign Spanish midfielder Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old is already in Newcastle to undergo a medical ahead of a £50 million move from Man City while both sides have exchanged paperwork.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes lamented his side making the "same mistakes as we did last season in every away game" following their shock 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull to begin the new Premier League campaign.
There was plenty of optimism around United before kick off after Michael Carrick led them to third place in the Premier League last season but they were brought back to earth as first-half goals from Semi Ajayi and ******* el Mendy gave Hull a deserved win on their return to the top-flight.

"Same mistakes as we did last season, every away game we give too much of the ball to them," Fernandes told TNT Sports. "In the first 20 minutes, the goalkeeper was the one with the most touches. We needed to press more, be more aggressive, and then again we need to work on set-plays and not concede these type of goals. Against these types of teams, they are waiting for that moment."
Fernandes said United knew Hull would be a threat from set-pieces and would be motivated on their Premier League return. "We know in the Premier League these type of grounds are very difficult to play in," he added. "You need to match everything in intensity, aggression and everything. We had that apart from two set pieces. That cost us the game."

The US Tennis ******* ociation announced mixed doubles pairings topped by 44-year-old American Williams making her return to the US Open for the first time since 2022.
Williams, a six-time US Open singles champion, captured the 1998 US Open mixed doubles ******* le with Max Mirnyi.

Luciano Spalletti is still hoping to bring in another centre-forward before the close of the summer transfer window and reports on Thursday claim that Italy international Mateo Retegui is one of the profiles under consideration by Juventus.
Juventus have already brought in two new centre-forwards this summer in Randal Kolo Muani and Jeff Ekhator, but have also lost Dusan Vlahovic on a free transfer, Lois Openda has been sent out on loan, whilst Jonathan David and Arkadiusz Milik are not expected to be part of Spalletti's plans.

The Dallas Cowboys' defense was a problem throughout 2025, a collapse that began after Jerry Jones traded All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons before the season even kicked off. He was shipped to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks. Losing the generational talent completely shattered the team's pass rush.
However, Dak Prescott threw for 4,552 yards (3rd in the NFL), 30 touchdowns (4th in the NFL) and 10 interceptions for a stellar 99.5 passer rating. Despite his MVP-level performance, Dallas finished with an underwhelming 7-9-1 record and missed the playoffs.
With training camp underway, the frustration over that trade is boiling back up on X. Popular Cowboys **** yst and former defensive end J Tuck didn't sugarcoat how he felt about the front office wasting Prescott's elite season.
"You'll never get fans to admit the truth about the Micah trade it was idiotic and ruined a MVP season from our QB," Tuck wrote. "But we HAVE to move on and allow this defense to become something new it's not gonna be as [bad] as the DQ ERA but they 'should be' blue collar and get the job done just hold them to 23 points."

Momentum can be fleeting in the NFL. A few strong practices can make any Philadelphia Eagles player a talking point, but the real challenge is proving those performances weren't simply a product of training camp.
Ty Robinson now has an opportunity to do exactly that. The second-year defensive tackle has quietly found some footing. He has reportedly made some plays in practice lately. He has found ways to penetrate. He has developed more of a pass-rushing ******* nal and has shown his willingness to compete through the whistle.
That momentum carried into Philadelphia's preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens. Robinson recorded a sack despite the Eagles' 24-7 loss, beating the left guard at the snap and immediately disrupting the pocket. It was another example of the quickness and strength that have recently surfaced, suggesting he could be an intriguing piece of Philadelphia's defensive line depth.
The encouraging part is that the performance didn't come out of nowhere. That means it can potentially be duplicated.
Robinson's recent flashes throughout camp are what coaches and teammates want to see. He's part of a deep unit, but it's always nice to know that there's another defensive weapon. If he can consistently generate penetration against both the run and pass, that will allow him to stand out even when playing behind more established defensive tackles.

Ian Machado Garry proclaimed that it was his "destiny" to defeat Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 and become the new welterweight champion. Reality, however, proved otherwise.
Machado Garry (17-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) gave a solid account of himself in a unanimous decision loss to Makhachev (29-1 MMA, 18-1 UFC) on Saturday at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Victory was not out of his reach, he just didn't have the start he needed or produce enough effective offense to capitalize on what felt like a winnable scenario for him.
It will be a tough pill for Machado Garry to swallow once he watches the fight back and sees that he could've made this result even closer than it was, but there should also be a high degree of confidence he will take it the right way and grow. His comments in the immediate aftermath of the fight showed he didn't lose an ounce of confidence in himself, and that should carry him to a better place going forward.
Machado Garry is entirely accurate when he notes he's only 28, and could easily have another decade of high-level competition ahead of him. There is a solid chance he finds himself back in a ***** le fight one day, it's just a question of how long that will take.
It's no guarantee, though, because the welterweight division is as good as it gets, and it's entirely possible he can't get past the next killer that will undoubtedly be standing across the octagon from him next time out, and be set back even further. He's in the range of the weight class now where zero easy fights are coming his way.

Arthur Fery beat James Duckworth at the Cincinnati Open in his first match since his memorable run to the Wimbledon semi-finals.
The 24-year-old won 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) in two hours and 34 minutes.
Fery arrived in Ohio ranked 36 in the world, a meteoric rise having been outside the top 150 at the start of the grass-court season and 114th going into Wimbledon as a wild card.
The right-hander took some time off after what he admitted was a "life-changing fortnight", before undertaking a training block at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.
Seeded 32nd at only his second Masters 1000 event – and the first he has entered directly through ranking – Fery broke Australian veteran Duckworth in the first game, only for a couple of foot faults to cost him in the next.
