Arsenal moved for Christos Tzolis after the best season of his career where he was involved in 40 goals, scoring 17 times and providing 23 ******* ists as Club Brugge were crowned league champions in Belgium.
But before that there had been struggles, notably during his three years at Norwich, scoring just three times in 30 appearances between 2021-2024.
He impressed while on loan at German second-tier side Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2023-24, where he scored 24 goals in 35 games before he left Norwich for Club Brugge and became one of star players in the division.
Since then he has not looked back and Tzolis has developed to become one of the most reliable creators in Europe.
Alongside his two ******* ists, he played more passes into the final third than anyone else in the Gunners team in Cardiff and, despite lacking noticeable pace, Tzolis is extremely effective while on the ball with his work-rate appreciated by manager Mikel Arteta.

West Bromwich Albion head coach James Morrison says the thing that most frustrated him about captain Alex Mowatt's eve-of-season exit to Derby County was the timing of it.
For the second season running, following Darnell Furlong's departure to Ipswich Town a year ago, the Baggies have lost the captain they started the season with.
But Mowatt's successor George Campbell proved a lucky on-field general in Saturday's somewhat fortuitous 2-1 win at Norwich.
And Morrison is now only looking forward after Albion's third successive opening-day Championship win in as many seasons.
"It's just football," Morrison told BBC Radio WM. "There's a little bit of a hangover. But am I going to let it derail me? No. I've got to lead the team and set an example and show that it can't affect us.

Norwich City head coach Philippe Clement spoke to BBC Radio Norfolk after his side's 2-1 defeat by West Bromwich Albion.
On West Brom's opening goal, he said: "It was a decisive moment in the game. I think this is a clear-cut goal that should be disallowed.
"We were dominating the game, we were creating the chances, the best chances, most chances.
"Then they have one counter-attack where they make it 0-2, but you see again the right reaction from my team and they kept going and we scored the goal. But we should have scored much more goals today.
"You have games where things don't go your way; for sure it was the case today, because my team deserved the three points."

Manchester United teenager Harry Amass is tipped to leave the club before the end of the summer, as he's unlikely to be included in the first team's plans.
The young left-back made his senior debut under Ruben Amorim during the 2024/25 campaign, before spending the previous season away on loan.
In September, he joined the struggling Sheffield Wednesday. Although the Owls were on a free fall, the MUFC youth product managed to impress on an individual level, with the club's supporters voting him Player of the Month twice in a row.
Following a bittersweet experience in Sheffield, Amass was recalled to the base in January, before joining Norwich City for the second half of the campaign. But unfortunately for the youngster, his stint was swiftly wrecked by a serious injury.
This summer, Amass rejoined Michael Carrick's squad and has been collecting cameos during the pre-season friendlies.

Newcastle United's search for another full-back continues as the Magpies look to strengthen one of the thinnest areas of his squad before the Premier League season begins.
NUFC only has Tino Livramento on the right and Lewis Hall on the left side, making the addition of two full-backs or a versatile one one of the club's top priorities for the remainder of the transfer market.
Against that backdrop, and according to TEAMtalk, Newcastle is among several Premier League clubs monitoring Norwich City defender Kellen Fisher, although completing a deal could prove difficult because the Championship side has no intention of selling their man.
"Norwich City have made it clear they have no intention of selling Kellen Fisher this summer despite growing interest from the Premier League," TEAMtalk wrote. "The England Under-21 international has emerged as one of the Championship's most highly-rated young full-backs, with a number of top-flight clubs monitoring his progress ahead of a potential move."
The report adds that Norwich head coach Philippe Clement has made his stance clear over the 22-year-old's future.

Norwich City are weighing up their options in the transfer market to further bolster Philippe Clement's squad in attack.
City have completed the signing of full-back Darlin Yongwa on a four-year deal, providing some much needed defensive depth to Clement's squad.
But City could be forced into the market to strengthen in the wide attacking areas following what is believed to be a serious injury for Ali Ahmed.
Ahmed was forced off with a knee injury in the friendly against Osasuna.
It has not been confirmed how long he will be out for yet, but he looks set to miss a significant chunk of the season.

Newcastle United's search for wingers following Anthony Gordon's departure is reportedly taking the club to explore deals for former Premier League players, with an English forward emerging as a new potential target.
Although the Magpies have already strengthened multiple areas of Eddie Howe's squad this summer, including landing a left winger in Bazoumana Toure, Newcastle remains in the market for attacking reinforcements after Gordon's move to Barcelona.
According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle is monitoring Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe, although competition for the 23-year-old Norwich City academy product is growing.
The report claims Manchester United, Aston Villa, Everton and Chelsea have all shown interest in the former Premier League winger, with Newcastle already making preliminary checks over a potential move.
"TEAMtalk understands several Premier League clubs have been monitoring the 23-year-old throughout the summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United all making enquiries into his situation over recent months," the report states.

Colchester United manager Danny Cowley has said "recruitment is really tough at the moment" after his side were beaten 2-0 by Charlton Athletic in a pre-season friendly.
First-half goals from Matty Godden and Karlan Grant secured the victory for the Championship club, but after the match Cowley was happy with his side's performance.
"We didn't plan the pre-season to be easy, that's why we've played Norwich, West Ham twice, Peterborough, Charlton - so we always understood that it was going to be tough for the players. That's how we like it," Cowley told BBC Essex.
"Off the back of the goals, I was really pleased with how the team responded. Recruitment is really tough at the moment, there's no hiding place from that.
"We know what we want. We're not willing to compromise at the moment but we are trying to stay as brave as we can to get the players that we want.

Christos Tzolis signed a five-year contract at **** nal after completing his €40 million transfer from Club Brugge. The Greece international was a 2. Bundesliga top-scorer during his time at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Norwich City are not interested in selling any of their first team players, says head coach Philippe Clement.
Full-back Kellen Fisher has been linked with a possible move to Premier League newcomers Hull City and missed Wednesday night's goalless draw at AFC Wimbledon in the Canaries' latest pre-season friendly.
"It's very simple, in a game we played yesterday (Tuesday) he jumped and landed on a team-mate and twisted his ankle so he was not able to play," Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"It's clear for all the players, there is a clear plan - ***** ody will leave who is a potential starting 11 player. I know it's the time of the year where there are no games and no big stories so people like to make stories but there are no stories about that."
Norwich finished ninth in the Championship last season, having been in the relegation zone when Clement replaced Liam Manning as head coach in November and the Belgian has made it clear they are not looking to sell any first choice players.

Chelsea have intensified their search for attacking reinforcements this summer, with Bologna’s dynamic winger Jonathan Rowe emerging as a key target. Xabi Alonso is at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have reportedly made fresh contact with the 23-year-old’s representatives in recent days to discuss the framework of a potential move. While no formal offer has been submitted to Bologna yet, Chelsea’s recruitment team have placed the former Norwich City academy graduate high on their shortlist as they look to add reliable depth to their wide options.
Rowe’s career has accelerated over the past two seasons. After rising through the ranks at Norwich and spending a brief spell at Marseille, the ‘magic’ Englishman has settled well in Italy. Last season, he enjoyed a productive campaign, recording eight goals and four ******* ists in 43 appearances across all competitions. Notably, Rowe showcased his big-game credentials by scoring a dramatic 91st-minute winner against Napoli and netting against Aston Villa during Bologna’s European knockout run.
Bologna are under no immediate pressure to sell Rowe, who is under contract until June 2029. However, the Rossoblu’s failure to secure European football next season could make a lucrative offer tempting. The Italian club currently value the winger at around €40 million.
Chelsea see Rowe as an ideal fit for their recruitment strategy, which prioritises young talent with high potential. Additionally, Rowe’s London roots mean a move to Stamford Bridge would align with his ambition to establish himself in the Premier League. With alternatives such as Crysencio Summerville also under consideration, the Blues are carefully weighing up their options as they prepare to sanction Alejandro Garnacho’s departure.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy this summer, according to Sky Sports. Eddie Howe and David Moyes are at St James' Park and the Hill ***** inson Stadium, respectively.
The 31-year-old winger has entered the final 12 months of his contract at St James' Park, casting doubt over his long-term future in the North East. With Newcastle undergoing a busy summer rebuild under manager Eddie Howe, the club's hierarchy are open to considering permanent solutions for ageing players if their valuation is met.
For Everton, signing an experienced, hard-working wide option like Murphy would be viewed as a pragmatic move. While the Toffees have completed a deal worth up to £25 million for Chelsea's teenage sensation Tyrique George, the management are determined to balance youth with proven Premier League pedigree. Murphy fits this profile perfectly, having been a regular for the Magpies since joining from Norwich City nine years ago and proving his reliability in both domestic and European competitions.
Despite Murphy's contract situation, Eddie Howe remains determined to keep him, often describing the winger as the 'ultimate professional' whose team-first mentality is vital in the dressing room. Newcastle have already raised significant funds through the record-breaking sales of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for a combined £169 million, meaning they are under no financial pressure to sell.
While Everton have yet to submit a formal offer to test Newcastle's resolve, their interest is genuine. Murphy, a lifelong Newcastle supporter, is settled on Tyneside but could be tempted by a new challenge that offers more consistent game time than the 19 starts he made last season.

A football fan who has taken a large homemade flag to eight FIFA World Cups is "living his best life" after witnessing England beat tournament co-hosts Mexico.
Paul Green, 68, a retired print worker from Upwell, Norfolk, close to the Cambridgeshire border, first took his distinctive Wisbech flag, adorned with the St George's Cross and Norwich City emblems, to the World Cup in Spain in 1982.
Green and his trusty flag, which he estimates has travelled "around 50,000 miles" (80,000km) in 44 years, have been to all five England fixtures at the 2026 competition.
He has spent £9,000 pre-booking tickets for all potential England games. "As long as they keep winning, I will be there," he added.
Optimistically, his flight home is scheduled for two days after the final.

Luke Graham is on his way to Stoke City after heading for a medical, with the deal understood to be worth £2m or more including add-ons – making it one of the most significant outgoing transfers Dundee have concluded in recent memory. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the move is imminent and the financial structure clears the bar Dundee had publicly set all window.
Let’s be honest about the headline here – Graham is a Dundee player, not ours, and this is his story rather than Celtic’s. The framing around Celtic losing him likely reflects the broader Scottish football context, where any talented young defender departing the SPFL attracts attention from every corner. Graham himself is 22 years old, a ball-playing centre-back who broke properly into the Dundee starting eleven in 2023–24 and earned recognition in Scotland’s youth setups, which is precisely what pushed his valuation into seven-figure territory.
Dundee were under no pressure to sell cheaply. They knocked back a club-record £1.5m bid from Portsmouth in January, setting a clear public benchmark that any summer deal needed to reach £2m with add-ons attached. That stance held, and Stoke – among a queue that included Derby County, Norwich City, Lincoln City, and Rangers – were ultimately the side willing to meet it.
Former Scotland international Alex Rae captured Graham’s trajectory well, saying: “The penny has dropped for him… in terms of the ways he goes about things” – pointing to improved professionalism and consistency as the drivers of his rapid rise from squad player to high-value ****** et. That kind of development story is exactly what you want to see from young Scottish defenders, even when the endpoint is the English Championship rather than Parkhead.
The wider picture here matters too. Scottish clubs holding the line on valuations and extracting genuine market fees for their best young players is good for the game up here. It is a summer where movement at every level has been relentless – interest in Arne Engels from Roma has illustrated just how quickly squad planning can be disrupted when clubs come calling with serious money.

Rangers have added to their defensive ranks with the loan signing of Ben Godfrey from Atalanta, with the deal running for the 2026/27 season and including an option to make the move permanent next summer.
The 28-year-old becomes the latest arrival at Ibrox as part of the club’s summer rebuild, joining Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie in reinforcing the squad ahead of the new campaign.
Godfrey began his career at York City before rising through the ranks at Norwich City, where he became a key figure in their promotion to the Premier League. His performances earned a move to Everton, where he made a strong impression over several seasons before switching to Atalanta in 2024.
Since arriving in Italy, the defender has spent time out on loan, including spells with Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and most recently Danish side Brøndby, where he gained regular minutes in the second half of last season.
Godfrey said he was “delighted” to join Rangers and is determined to help the club achieve success, as he looks to re-establish himself with consistent first-team football in Scotland.

Manchester United minority owners INEOS have implemented several changes to the club’s football system since taking over in February 2024. The Red Devils’ recruitment policy in the past decade has frequently come under scrutiny, with multiple questionable decisions negatively impacting their finances.
INEOS identified that the club’s transfer activity needed a revamp and one of their first decisions was to poach Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth. A standoff followed, with the Magpies finally agreeing a compensation fee for the departure of the former Norwich City academy graduate, who was placed on gardening leave.
Ashworth officially joined United in 1 July 2024, taking charge as the club’s new sporting director. Under his leadership, the Red Devils enjoyed a productive summer transfer window, signing Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte.
Ashworth also played a role in the appointment of former head coach Ruben Amorim in November as Erik ten Hag’s replacement. However, the Englishman was surprisingly relieved of his duties by mutual consent before the end of the year.
Ashworth subsequently took up a role as FA’s chief football officer, but now appears that he is all set for a return to club football.
