The FIBA World Cup is underway, and the United States women are once again the heavy favorite to walk away with the gold medal. The US hasn't lost in the World Cup since 2006, and this year's roster is stacked with both veteran and up-and-coming talent.
Their biggest threat has long appeared to be France, who have dominated all three games of Group Play action and finished with the silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
But, there's another, more under-the-radar team that has impressed in the early days of the World Cup: Belgium.
Belgium beat Australia 80-68 on Monday behind a monster performance from Emma Meesseman, who exploded for 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting, along with 10 rebounds, 8 ******* ists, and 2 steals. Julie Vanloo (12 points, 5 ******* ists) and Julie Allemand (11 points, 7 ******* ists) were also both highly impactful.
Australia is a powerhouse of its own. As the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft, Cameron Boozer joins the Memphis Grizzlies after a historic freshman campaign at Duke.
Boozer was the consensus National Player of the Year, averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 ****** ists while shooting 39.1% from 3-point range. He is the only freshman in history to tally at least 700 points, 300 rebounds and 100 ****** ists in a single season.
The 6-foot-8 Boozer ranked second in the country in points (855), second in field goals (290), third in rebounds (389) and fifth in free throws (221). He was also tied for the most double-doubles with 22, becoming just the second Duke freshman to reach that total in a season.
Boozer is the second player drafted with the No. 3 pick in franchise history. He is one of seven Blue Devils to be selected third, joining Christian Laettner (1992), Grant Hill (1994), Mike Dunleavy Jr. (2002), Jahlil Okafor (2015), Jayson Tatum (2017) and RJ Barrett (2019).
The son of former 13-year veteran Carlos Boozer debuted with the Grizzlies in summer league, averaging 18.5 points, eight rebounds, 3.7 ****** ists and 1.8 steals. He was named to the All-Summer League first team, ranking second in points (111) among all players in Las Vegas.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye in a deal worth up to £65 million.
The Senegal international has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad after spending the past two seasons with Everton, where he made 74 appearances and scored 21 goals.
City will pay £60m up front, with a further £5m available in add-ons. The 26-year-old arrives with plenty of Premier League experience and can operate either on the wing or through the middle, giving Enzo Maresca another versatile attacking option.
Ndiaye previously impressed with Sheffield United during their 2022/23 promotion campaign, registering 15 goals and 11 **** ists in the Championship. He also spent a season with Marseille before returning to England in 2024.
The forward has earned 44 caps for Senegal and featured at both the 2022 and 2026 World Cups, scoring once and providing two **** ists at the latter tournament.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Free agent forward Georges Niang has signed a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors.
The team announced the addition of the 33-year-old veteran Tuesday. He was sidelined last season with both Utah and Memphis recovering from a left foot injury. Niang appeared in 79 games with three starts during 2024-25 for Atlanta and Cleveland, averaging 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 ****** ists over 21.5 minutes.
He has played nine NBA seasons, mostly as a reserve with the Hawks, Cavaliers, 76ers, Jazz and Pacers. He owns career averages of 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 ****** ists.
The Warriors have made few additions but are bringing back familiar faces such as center Al Horford on a two-year, $14 million contract and center Kristaps Porzingis on a two-year contract for $40 million after the Warriors acquired him from Atlanta at the February trade deadline and sent Buddy Hield and Jonathan ****** inga to the Hawks.

Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 700 career ****** ists, accomplishing the statistical milestone in just 83 career games. Clark also reached 700 career ****** ists faster than any NBA player in the last 30 years.
Additionally, Clark recorded her 20th career game with 20 or more points and 10-plus ****** ists. Clark's 20 such games are 10 more than any other player in the history of the WNBA. It was Clark's 11th double-double this season and her third straight points-assists double-double.
Clark crossed off a scoring milestone in the win, too. With her 29 points, Clark moved past Candice Dupree (1,621) for the ninth-most points in franchise history. Clark has now scored 1,640 points in her career.

It's the sixth time in her three-year WNBA career that the former Hawkeye has earned Player of the Week honors, the third time this season that Clark has captured the recognition, and the only player in the league so far this year to earn the distinction on back-to-back weeks.
Clark scored a **** ulative 77 points this past week, the third-most by any player in the WNBA over the span. Averaging 25.7 points per game, Clark had the fifth-highest points-per-game average in the league, while Clark's 27 total **** ists and 9.0 **** ists per game both led the league throughout the week.
On July 28 against the Seattle Storm, Clark led the team to victory with a team-high 32 points and seven **** ists, marking the ninth 30-plus point scoring game of Clark's career, which sits one away from tying Tamika Catchings (10) for the second-most in franchise history.
On July 31 against the Portland Fire, Clark continued to set the record books by earning her fourth career triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 **** ists, giving her the third-most triple-doubles in WNBA history. Zakai Zeigler turns 24 on Aug. 2. He'll spend the day flying to Germany. On his last day in Knoxville, he spent it giving back to a place he calls home.
Zeigler was back in town to host his second annual I AM G.I.A.N.T. Basketball Camp on Aug. 1 at Webb School of Knoxville.
"It makes me feel really good, seeing all the campers, everybody here," he said of the E3 Camps event. "It's my last day before I go back overseas, so it's a great way to spend it."
He played four seasons for Tennessee basketball, and left as the program's all-time leader in **** ists (747) and steals (251), averaging 11.3 points, 5.4 **** ists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals across 138 games from 2021 to 2025. He earned two SEC Defensive Player of the Year awards and three All-SEC selections, and became the first player in conference history with four SEC All-Defensive Team honors.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Greek forward Christos Tzolis for a reported €40 million.

The summer league has ended for the Philadelphia 76ers after they finished 2-3 out in Las Vegas. They won their first two games, but then ended on a 3-game skid. However, wins and losses do not matter out in Vegas. It's all about how the young players look and how they can adjust to the NBA game after to prepare for what's to come.
Sixers rookie guard Labaron Philon Jr. had some big moments in the summer league as he showed off his skills. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.8 ****** ists, and 3.5 rebounds along with 1.5 steals in four games. He put all of his skills on display and should be able to bring that talent to the league when the regular season begins in October.
Here are the three biggest observations on Philon while at the summer league:
Philon showed the capability to be able to put the ball in the basket. His percentages weren't great, he shot 38.2% overall and 25.8% from deep, but that can be attributed to being the main threat on the floor and teams swarming him whenever he crossed halfcourt. He also was shooting a respectable 39% from deep before a 1-for-13 showing in his final outing on July 15. There were plenty of times when he was blitzed and had to quickly adjust to how teams were defending him. Even with the extra attention, Philon was able to get into the paint, give the summer Sixers somebody who could make plays for others, and was able to make his presence known. It was a solid showing and should give the team some optimism about adding a 3-level scorer to the bench unit.
Over the four games in Vegas, Philon compiled 23 ****** ists against 10 turnovers in the four games he played. He had four turnovers in the finale against the Magic, but fatigue could have been a factor. He played 36:35 in that one on the second day of a back-to-back and he averaged 32 minutes in the summer league. He had seven ****** ists in the opener against the Detroit Pistons, six against the Indiana Pacers, four against the Houston Rockets, and six against the Magic. He was able to make plays for others, was directing traffic, and showed a lot of confidence for a rookie. The Sixers should be happy with what they saw.

The Hoosiers' leading scorer from last season appeared in five games for the Thunder's Summer League squad. He averaged 2.2 points, 2.0 **** ists, and 1.0 rebounds.
DeVries had very productive time with the Celtics' group in Vegas. In four games with Boston, he posted averages of 8.8 points, 1.5 **** ists, and 1.0 rebounds.
Alexis played sparingly, until Oklahoma City's final game Sunday. In three games, he averaged 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.
