La Stampa reports that part of the Juventus dressing room is unhappy with Luciano Spalletti's methods, particularly because the Tuscan coach spends too much time talking, which reduces the intensity of training.
Juventus are preparing for a crucial Serie A match against Napoli, and coach Spalletti has ordered the team into a two-day training retreat.

The Italian tactician is on the brink, having only earned 14 points in nine Serie A games so far this season, losing two of the last three games.
On Thursday, after a 2-0 loss to Genoa, CEO Giovanni Carnevali gave a stern dressing-room speech, asking the players to take responsibility for the poor results so far.

All eyes will be on Gianluigi Donnarumma in net for Manchester City on Saturday.
On Wednesday night, City hosted Brighton with a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on the line.
Despite the hosts starting on the front foot, Brighton took the lead just half an hour in through Malick Junior Yalcouye. The Malian winger found himself unmarked on the edge of the six yard box, played marginally onside by Ayyoub Bouaddi, from there a tap-in left the hosts trailing.
The opener spurred Maresca's side into action though, and just ten minutes later they were back level. Phil Foden found Mateo Kovacic just outside the area, and the Croatian international made no mistake with a wonderfully placed side-footed finish.
After the break it didn't take long for the visitors to take the lead once again. Georginio Rutter got himself goal-side of Mateo Kovacic and slotted home to the left of Geronimo Rulli, leaving Manchester City with all the work to do.

CNN has obtained newly unsealed police body camera footage showing the arrest of Luigi Mangione inside a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, days after he fatally shot United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The hours of footage capture officers questioning Mangione at the fast-food restaurant on the morning of December 9, 2024, before he is handcuffed, searched and transported to the police station. The videos show police conducting more thorough searches of Mangione and his belongings at the station, including the moment an officer finds a gun – now known to be the murder weapon – inside his backpack.
This is the first time the videos have been seen outside the courtroom. Some of the footage was played during a dayslong suppression hearing last December, when the defense argued evidence recovered during the arrest should be suppressed because Mangione’s backpack was improperly searched.

Juventus and Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon feels the Bianconeri have 'an advantage' against Milan this evening and reveals he told Guglielmo Vicario to 'enjoy the experience' at the Allianz Stadium, after his move from Tottenham.
Juventus and Milan meet at the Allianz Stadium in Turin this evening.
Both sides have won their opening two Serie A games of the campaign and will be looking to catch Inter and Roma, who already have nine points after winning their third consecutive game yesterday against Napoli and Atalanta, respectively.

Serie A side Juventus signed Nick Woltemade on loan from Newcastle United late in the summer transfer window. While the German is yet to make his debut for the Bianconeri, big praise has come from Juve legend Gianluigi Buffon.
The Germany international has a frustrating 2025/26 campaign with the Magpies. Ex-Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe often used him deeper on the pitch and this led to a fall in prominence.
A move to Juventus is now viewed as a shot at redemption. Buffon spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about Juve's business in the summer and placed special emphasis on Woltemade.
The ex-keeper said: "I'm curious about Woltemade. I want to see if his physicality, his 198 centimeters (6'4") combined with excellent technique, will be as dominant as I expect."
Buffon also revealed belief that Woltemade can make the same impact as Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his younger days.

Man City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League after squeezing past Coventry 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium, although Enzo Maresca's side were made to work considerably harder than they might have expected.
Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal, his third of the season, while Elliot Anderson produced another commanding midfield display. Coventry remained within touching distance throughout and came close to stealing a point late on.
City had already received a warning before taking the lead, with Gianluigi Donnarumma required to intervene as Coventry threatened.
A late change had brought Enzo Fernandez into the starting XI after Nico O'Reilly suffered an injury during the warm up, and Fernandez quickly settled into proceedings.
His pass released Antoine ****** yo, whose delivery was met by Haaland. The Norwegian produced a powerful header to put Man City ahead and seemingly establish the platform for a more comfortable afternoon.

Manchester City have won 1-0 today against stubborn Coventry City side at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon. A Erling Haaland header in the 26th minute was just enough for City make it three wins from three matches to start the new Premier League season.
When the starting lineups were announced, Enzo Maresca had made only one change to the starting lineup which dispatched Crystal Palace 4-1 last weekend. Iliman Ndiaye replaced Phil Foden in the starting lineup as the Senegalese international made his Premier League debut from the start today. Enzo Fernandez was on the bench for today's game. However, that changed 15 minutes before kickoff. Nico O'Reilly suffered an injury in the warm up and Enzo Fernandez replaced him in Manchester City's starting lineup.
Manchester City began the game dominating possession, however it was Coventry City who should have taken the lead inside the opening eight minutes. First, Abdukodir Khusanov played a ball back to Gianluigi Donnarumma on his own goal line. The Italian had a poor first touch which almost trickled over the goal line to give Frank Lampard's side the lead in the 6th minute.
However, two minutes later, Coventry City should have taken the lead. Antoine ****** yo played a dangerous ball from the right into midfield which Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi intercepted. Awoniyi surged clean through on goal with only the keeper to beat. But he fired his shot wide of the post with Gianluigi Donnarumma rushing out to save his team's blushes. Taiwo Awoniyi's chance was a clear warning shot to Enzo Maresca's side that today's match wouldn't be a walk in the park.
Manchester City's first shot on target would arrive in the 16th minute. Elliot Anderson was fouled in midfield and he quickly took the free kick and set free Rayan Cherki. Cherki surged into ****** e and played in Erling Haaland with a quality through ball. Haaland fired in a powerful low drive from inside the Coventry penalty area across goal which Coventry City keeper Carl Rushworth got down well to save.

Como fought back from a debut Milutin Osmajic goal to crush Genoa 4-1, including an **** ane Diao brace, Martin Baturina and Nico Paz, with Moise Kean providing an **** ist.
The Lariani were fresh from a 2-1 victory away to Napoli, plus deadline day signings Moise Kean and Robert Sanchez on the bench waiting for their debuts. Only Jayden Addai remained on the treatment table. Genoa were in crisis after losing to both Napoli and Lazio without scoring a goal, as Lorenzo Venturino, Joi Nuredini, Hamed Traore and Elias Havel were still out of action, but Djibril Sow and Milutin Osmajic got their first starts.

Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland have already been confirmed as two of the Manchester City captains for the 2026-27 season. All that was unknown was who would be joining them in City's captaincy group. Enzo Maresca has revealed who will be joining Haaland and Dias in City's captaincy group. On first glance, Maresca has made two obvious and quality choices when naming the other two players who will complete Manchester City's captaincy quartet.
Enzo Maresca faced the media earlier today ahead of Manchester City's upcoming Premier League fixture against Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium. The Manchester City manager was asked what new signing Enzo Fernandez would bring to Maresca's squad and if the Argentinian midfielder would be in Manchester City's captaincy group for the upcoming season. While answering what Fernandez adds to City's squad, Maresca also revealed who Manchester City's four captains would be. He said: "I know Enzo quite well, I know what he can bring. He's a winner, he has a winning mentality, World Cup, Club World Cup. The main thing is that he's a winner." Captain? "No, the captain is Ruben, Erling, Marc Guehi and Gigi Donnarumma."
Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland were obvious choices to be two of Manchester City's captains for this season. They were in City's leadership group last season and were two clear stand-out candidates to return to their posts under Enzo Maresca. The question was who would join them. Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc Guehi are the players who claimed that ***** le.
Both of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc Guehi are quality leaders. Marc Guehi was Crystal Palace's captain before he joined City. Guehi leads by example in a quiet and unassuming manner and his leadership style do combine well with Haaland and Dias. Gianluigi Donnarumma is a pillar at the back for City. He is a vociferous character and he does set the tone in goal. It is often Donnarumma who celebrates his teammates defensive contributions and his is key pillar of this City side.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marc Guehi, Erling Haaland, and Ruben Dias will form Manchester City's captaincy group for the 2026-27 season. Each player brings their own strengths to the role and they will be hoping to lead Manchester City to success this season.

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday announced the departure of another highly-regarded young member of the club's reserve team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation of Toni Fernández taking his talents to Italy, to link up with Serie A outfit Venezia.
18-year-old Toni's name had emerged as a prominent one in the transfer chatter surrounding Barcelona in the buildup to deadline day. After the starlet was forced to face up to his first-team path being yet further blocked by the signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, Toni and his entourage began seeking out the best landing spot to further his development.
From here, the aforementioned Venezia entered the scene, promising the versatile attacker a prominent place in their senior setup this coming season.
And such promises evidently proved enough to convince Toni of the merits of a move to the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo. As per a statement across Barcelona's website and social media platforms on Tuesday evening:

Enzo Maresca hailed Rayan Cherki's "unbelievable" performance in Manchester City's 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace on Friday.
City boss Maresca admitted Cherki was frustrated to be left out of the starting line-up for last weekend's 2-1 win against Bournemouth in their Premier League opener.
The France midfielder responded to the snub in emphatic style.
He came off the bench to provide a pair of **** ists against Bournemouth and seized his chance to start at Selhurst Park with a masterful display that underlined his qualities.
The 23-year-old bagged a brace after an own goal from City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had cancelled out Erling Haaland's opener in rainy south London.

Manchester City faced off against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a positive result on the road in the Premier League. The Mancunian giants made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 17th minute thanks to Erling Haaland's goal. Enzo Maresca's men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Rayan Cherki doubled his team's advantage in the 54th minute. However, Crystal Palace got a goal back due to an unfortunate own goal from Gianluigi Donnarumma just a couple of minutes later. Cherki struck again in the 59th minute before Haaland killed the game off in the 84th minute. The match ended with Man City earning a dominant 4-1 win away from home.
Let's take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the clash against the Eagles.

Genoa sporting director Diego Lopez has been suspended until 8 September for his conduct following Saturday's defeat to Napoli.
According to Il Fatto Quotidiano, Serie A disciplinary judge Gerardo Mastrandrea found that Lopez improperly entered the pitch at full time despite not being listed on the matchday sheet, repeatedly contested a refereeing decision while adopting an aggressive attitude, continued those protests in the dressing room area and briefly prevented the referee from closing his own dressing room door.

Manchester City host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon in Enzo Maresca's first competitive Premier League match in charge of the club.
Maresca succeeds Pep Guardiola after a decade in which City won six league **** les and the Champions League. The Community Shield defeat to **** nal was a difficult beginning, and Sunday offers the first opportunity to put that result behind him.
Jeremy Doku will not feature. The Belgian winger aggravated a calf issue during the Community Shield defeat and has been ruled out for two to three weeks. Savinho is also unavailable, with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the works, and Omar Marmoush is expected to be in the same position should his own move to north London be finalised in time. Matheus Nunes is back in contention after sitting out the Community Shield with a minor muscle problem and could replace Abdukodir Khusanov at right-back.
With Doku sidelined, Maresca is expected to turn to Jack Grealish on the left flank, a role he filled after coming on in the Community Shield. Antoine **** yo, who joined from Bournemouth in January, operates on the opposite side, with Phil Foden retained centrally behind Erling Haaland. Elliot Anderson, a big-money summer signing, continues to partner Mateo Kovačić in central midfield as City look to bed in one of their most significant additions.
Haaland has scored seven goals in his last four Premier League opening weekends and 22 in just 14 appearances during the month of August throughout his career, giving City's attack a reliable focal point regardless of the upheaval elsewhere. Gianluigi Donnarumma continues in goal behind a back four of Nunes, Rúben Dias, Joško Gvardiol and Nico O'Reilly.

Less than five months have passed since Manchester City comprehensively beat ******* nal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, a performance that laid out a gulf in quality between the two clubs, that promised to launch City to the ******* le, that landed a damaging psychological blow to brittle ******* nal minds.
In the following days it was hard to imagine how Mikel Arteta's team would recover from being so comprehensively outplayed. We know how that turned out. Here, on an August day in Cardiff, the two teams met again in a game that could not have been more different. ******* nal ripped City apart in a dominant 3-0 victory to win their third Community Shield under Arteta and 18th overall, behind only Manchester United's 21.
Just as too much was read into that Carabao Cup final, we should resist the urge to hand ******* nal the Premier League trophy before a ball is kicked. This was a glorified friendly and captain Martin Odegaard lifted the trophy with all the faux enthusiasm it deserved.
But in their slick interchanges of passing, in their ability to keep City's dangermen at bay, in the peerless performance of new signings Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis, in the sheer strength in depth available to Mikel Arteta, there were undeniable signs that this ******* nal team might be as strong, perhaps even stronger, than last season's ******* le winners.
It took Riccardo Calafiori only 24 seconds to score ******* nal's first goal, finishing a clever pass by Myles Lewis-Skelly. It took Kai Havertz only four touches to add their second, heading home Tzolis's headed pass. By the time Martin Odegaard had added a brilliant third, taking Tzolis's pass in his stride before tricking Gianluigi Donnarumma into diving too early to leave the goal half empty, City were utterly beaten.

Riccardo Calafiori has broken the record for the fastest goal ever scored in the Community Shield.
Calafiori opened the scoring forArsenal against Manchester City after just 24 seconds at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, racing onto Myles Lewis-Skelly's pass to fire past Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The lightning start from thePremier League champions has set a new Community Shield record. Calafiori's opener is the fastest goal in the trophy's history, beating the previous record set by Manchester City's Bobby Owen against West Bromwich Albion in 1968.
Owen's first-minute goal set the Cityzens on route to a 6-1 win over West Brom, with the forward netting after just 35 seconds.
Arsenal's opener has put Mikel Arteta's side in the driving seat for the season's first silverware, as the Gunners look to win the Community Shield for an 18th time.

According to a report from Fabrice Hawkins, Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement with Parma for the goalkeeper Zion Suzuki (23). PSG are expected to pay around €35m to sign the ****** anese international, who will sign a five-year contract.
His arrival casts some aspersions on the future of Lucas Chevalier (24) in France's capital city. The France international joined PSG from Lille OSC last summer to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, but poor form meant that he eventually lost the starting spot to Matvey Safonov, as well as his place in the France national team as the third-choice keeper.
The good news for Chevalier is that Suzuki is not expected to play a part in PSG's squad in the upcoming season, with Les Parisiens aiming to loan him out. Juventus are reported to be one of the landing spots for Suzuki, although Hawkins writes they're not the only possibility.

Milan have agreed the straight loan of Zachary Athekame to Olympique Lyonnais, claim French reports, with no option to make it permanent.

Omar Marmoush scored twice in a three-minute spell in the second half as Manchester City came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid in a friendly in Seoul, South Korea.

But City equalised in the 57th minute. Antoine ***** yo did well to slide and keep the ball in play before he charged into the penalty area down the left flank and his low cross was converted by Marmoush.
The pair linked up again two minutes later with a near identical goal - Marmoush finishing comfortably following ***** yo's low cross from the left.
There was a crowd of more than 50,000 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium and the loudest cheer was reserved for the second-half introduction of Atletico's South Korea international Lee Kang-in.

Manchester City have moved swiftly to reshape their goalkeeping department, agreeing a £1.7 million deal with Marseille for Geronimo Rulli.
According to Sky Sports, the 34 year old is set to sign a two year contract at the Etihad Stadium, providing experienced cover for Gianluigi Donnarumma next season.
Rulli arrives following James Trafford's club record transfer to Leeds United for an initial £40 million. Financially, the sequence of deals represents striking business from City, bringing in an established international goalkeeper for a fraction of Trafford's fee.

Manchester City have agreed a €2m (£1.7m) deal to sign Geronimo Rulli to give Gianluigi Donnarumma a new deputy.
City have moved quickly to find a replacement for James Trafford, who joined Leeds for an initial £40m this week.
Rulli, who will sign a two-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, will join from Marseille after two seasons as the French club's regular goalkeeper.
It will be the 34-year-old's second stint on City's books, though he is yet to debut for them after being signed in 2016, loaned to Real Sociedad and then bought by the Spanish club.
Rulli has also had spells at Montpellier and Ajax while he was a Europa League winner with Villarreal, both scoring and saving a penalty in the shootout in the 2021 final against Manchester United.

Manchester City have agreed a deal to re-sign Argentina goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Marseille for £1.7 million, according to BBC Sport.
The 34-year-old will return to the Etihad Stadium nine years after first joining City. Rulli spent the 2016-17 season at the club but did not make a first-team appearance before returning to Real Sociedad on loan.
He has agreed a two-year contract and will provide cover for first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following James Trafford's departure for Leeds in a deal worth up to £45m.
Rulli has eight Argentina caps and was part of the squads that won the 2022 World Cup and 2024 Copa America. He also has extensive European experience, having played for Real Sociedad, Montpellier, Villarreal, Ajax and Marseille.
The goalkeeper was a key figure in Villarreal's 2021 Europa League final triumph over Manchester United. He scored in the penalty shootout before saving David de Gea's decisive attempt to secure the trophy.

One position at Manchester City that did seem uncertain was the goalkeeping position. The safe bet when the 2025-26 season ended was that Gianluigi Donnarumma would remain City's first-choice keeper under Enzo Maresca. The question was whether James Trafford would depart City and how he would be replaced if he did leave the club as expected. That answer has arrived with James Trafford completing a permanent move to Leeds United and Marseille keeper Gerónimo Rulli coming in to be Manchester City's backup goalkeeper.
Manchester City have announced today that James Trafford has signed for Leeds United. Trafford returned to City last summer when he completed a permanent move to the Etihad from Burnley. At the time, it did seem like Trafford would go on to become Manchester City's number-one goalkeeper after learning from Ederson. However, Ederson would leave City to sign for Fenerbahce and Manchester City would sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG. Donnarumma's arrival meant that Trafford became Manchester City's backup and cup goalkeeper.
James Trafford did play a key role in Manchester City's FA Cup and Carabao Cup success last season. He started both finals and his triple-save against **** nal in the Carabao Cup final was pivotal to Manchester City's victory over **** nal at Wembley. Trafford's form throughout City's FA Cup run was also a key component of Manchester City's FA Cup triumph last season.
Speaking with mancity.com after his transfer to Leeds United was confirmed, James Trafford looked back on his two spells at Manchester City fondly. However, he did state that he had his own personal ambitions need to be fulfilled, hence the move to Leeds United. Speaking after signing for Leeds United, Trafford said: "Manchester City will always mean a lot to me. My two spells here were both really positive. To come through the Academy, learn the City way of playing football and spend time with so many top coaches and young players gave me a fantastic platform to have a career in the game."
"And to then come back and win two trophies felt really special. I have dreams and ambitions in the game to achieve, but I will always think of City with affection."

Leeds United have signed James Trafford from Manchester City for a club-record fee of up to £45m and City are already lining up a replacement.
The England goalkeeper has inked a five-year deal at Elland Road and has become Daniel Farke's third signing of the summer.
City, who have inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause, also have a matching rights option to sign Trafford for a third time if and when he leaves Leeds.
Enzo Maresca's side are interested in signing the Argentina international Geronimo Rulli from Marseille as Trafford's replacement and Gianluigi Donnarumma's deputy.
Trafford rejoined City last summer from Burnley when, after he had a record-breaking year in the Clarets' promotion-winning season, they matched Newcastle's £31m bid for him.

Marseille are in need of a No. 1 goalkeeper after agreeing to part ways with Geronimo Rulli (34). The Argentina international is set to Gianluigi Donnarumma's understudy at Manchester City following James Trafford's departure for Leeds United. Rulli is set to cost Enzo Maresca's Cityzens close to €3,5m.
Rulli's exit leaves a big void to fill in Bruno Genesio's squad. L'Equipe reports that Marseille have made progress in their quest to find their new No. 1 goalkeeper. In the last few days, OM have identified Marcin Bulka as Rulli's replacement. The Pole has a vast experience of Ligue 1 football. He has been OGC Nice's starter for three seasons, between 2022 and 2025.
Bulka has only made his return to action a couple of months ago after tearing an ACL during a training session with Neom in September. L'Equipe adds that Marseille have submitted a loan offer to their SPL counterparts.
