Dominik Szoboszlai has been named Liverpool’s Player of the Year following a season that showcased his talent, versatility and relentless commitment to the cause. The Hungarian midfielder secured the honour after receiving more than two-thirds of the supporters’ vote, underlining just how influential he has become within Arne Slot’s **** le-winning side.
According to the original source published by Liverpool FC, Szoboszlai collected the club’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season award for the first time, capping a campaign in which he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most complete midfielders.
Awards can often be shaped by moments. This one felt shaped by months of excellence. Across the season, Szoboszlai delivered quality with such regularity that his performances became part of Liverpool’s rhythm. Week after week, he drove the team forward with energy, intelligence and technical class.
The numbers reinforce the impression. He made 53 appearances from Liverpool’s 57 matches, starting every game in which he featured. In an era of intense fixture schedules and relentless demands, that level of availability was almost as impressive as his output.
For much of the season, Liverpool relied on Szoboszlai to provide balance between creativity and industry. He responded with 13 goals and 12 **** ists, leading the squad in the latter category.

Dusan Vlahovic will leave Juventus as a free agent in less than a month, and the Bianconeri have already begun talks to sign a replacement, from Alexander Sorloth to Jean-Philippe Mateta and Randal Kolo Muani.
Juventus will need at least one new centre-forward in 2026-27, as their star striker Vlahovic has decided against signing a new deal at the Allianz Stadium, leaving the club as a free agent on June 30.
There are mixed reports on who the Bianconeri’s priority is.
Sky Sport is suggesting that Atletico Madrid’s Sorloth has become their primary target after a recent meeting with his agents, while Gazzetta reports that Kolo Muani is the top name for the Old Lady.

Wales' preparations for Friday's Women's World Cup qualifier in Montenegro have been badly disrupted after the team flight was forced to divert to Italy due to bad weather.
Rhian Wilkinson's squad took off from Cardiff at 16:30 BST on Wednesday and had been due to arrive in Montenegro around three hours later.
However, they were unable to land in Podgorica due to electrical storms around the Montenegrin capital and eventually diverted to the Italian port city of Brindisi.
After more than three hours on the tarmac in southern Italy, during which Wales had hoped weather conditions would ease, the decision was taken to stay in Brindisi on Wednesday night.
That left Football ***** ociation of Wales (FAW) officials scrambling to secure hotel rooms for the travelling party, as well as trying to arrange travel plans for Thursday.

Rajat Patidar's rise as one of the most influential figures in the IPL continued in 2026 as he guided Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a second successive ******* le. The RCB captain not only led the franchise from the front but also played a vital role with the bat, helping his side successfully defend the crown they won a year earlier.

Patidar enjoyed another outstanding season in the middle order, scoring 501 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 192.69. Time and again, he delivered in pressure situations, whether stabilising the innings after early wickets or launching counterattacks when RCB needed quick runs.

Despite those contributions, former Australia captain Michael Clarke feels Patidar's performances have not received the recognition they deserve.

Speaking on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke named the RCB skipper as one of the most underrated performers of IPL 2026, arguing that the presence of Virat Kohli often means other key contributors receive less attention.

"Patidar had a stellar tournament again and is my player under the radar. Virat Kohli being in the team will always be the most spoken about player. But Patidar has done an exceptional job with the way he leads and gets the best out of all of his players. His own performance, batting in the tough middle order, has been fantastic," Clarke said.

Patidar's leadership credentials have grown significantly over the last two seasons. Under his captaincy, RCB transformed from a team that spent years chasing a maiden ******* le into one that has now won back-to-back championships.

For Clarke, those achievements should place the 31-year-old firmly in discussions surrounding India's T20 side.

"Though he's 31, there has to be a talk about him in the Indian T20 team. I don't know if he will captain India, but he has leadership qualities. His middle-order batting has been phenomenal. Batting at No.4 is the hardest in T20s, and he comes in at the position and just explodes," he added.

The former Australian skipper believes Patidar's value extends beyond his batting. According to Clarke, captaining a side to consecutive IPL ******* les is an achievement that selectors simply cannot overlook.

While competition for places remains intense in Indian cricket, Clarke feels Patidar has done enough to push himself to the front of the queue for white-ball opportunities.

"India has a lot of talent at the moment, and a number of them are fighting to get into the Indian team from this IPL. But if you captain a team that goes on to win back-to-back IPL tournaments, the BCCI and the Indian selectors must be talking about him. His name must be in front of the queue in T20s, and he could even be looked at in ODI cricket," said Clarke.

With 501 runs, a strike rate approaching 200 and another IPL trophy as captain, Patidar's case has certainly become difficult to ignore. Whether it translates into an India recall remains to be seen, but Clarke believes the RCB skipper has ea

The deal will also be subject to £3.9m (€4.5m) in additional payments.

The Lions have completed their first week of 2026 OTA. That means we have some injury and participation updates on various players. That includes Levi Onwuzurike who has made a remarkable recovery from spinal fusion, but is now recovering from an ACL. He was a participant at OTA.
Here is my ****** ysis of what Onwuzurike's OTA participation means for his health as excerpted from Lions OTA Day 3: Dan Campbell Injury & Participation Updates:
In February, I reviewed the curious medical situations of Onwuzurike and Josh Paschal. In summary, Onwuzurike had ACL surgery around May 2025 - shortly after signing a 1-year free agent contract. There were (and still are) many reasons why the Lions might move on, but it looks like they are giving Levi every opportunity to earn a spot. This should be seen as good news for his health and outlook.
Unless there is a setback with the knee, Onwuzurike should be ready in plenty of time for training camp and the season. However, production expectations should be tempered in the first year back from an ACL, as seen with fellow lineman Alim McNeill.

Considered one of the gems of Corinthians’ youth academy, 19-year-old forward Gui Negão is going through a spell on the sidelines.
The player has yet to log any minutes since coach Fernando Diniz arrived, having last played on March 22 against Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship.
Because of this, ge detailed the reasons behind the youngster’s absence from Timão’s recent matches:
1. The impact of the injury
The lack of playing time began for medical reasons. Shortly after the match against Flamengo, Gui Negão suffered a strain in the hamstring of his right thigh during a Brazil U-20 training session held at CT Joaquim Grava itself. The issue kept him out for more than a month, and he was only included in the squad again on May 3 against Mirassol.

Rockets predicted to swap ex-Lakers disgruntled forward for $150 million Cavaliers star originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
What’s next for the Houston Rockets after flaming out in the first round of the postseason in May?
Well, the consensus is that the franchise will keep its core intact while potentially trading for a perimeter-oriented ***** et that would help take them over the top. Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz’s recent trade proposal would help Houston do exactly that, as it would send a 33-year-old ex-Los Angeles Lakers disgruntled forward (Dorian Finney-Smith) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a 29-year-old star guard.
“If the Cavs don't want to move (Donovan) Mitchell to an Eastern Conference team, the Rockets would be a strong trade partner,” Swartz wrote Tuesday. “Poor guard play doomed Houston this season, a franchise that's perhaps just one piece away from contending for a ***** le.”
“A starting five of Fred VanVleet, Mitchell, Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Alperen Şengün, with Tari Eason (restricted free agent), Steven Adams, and others, is the making of a core that could challenge even the best in the West. (Jabari) Smith, 23, has star potential and could thrive in a bigger role. A frontcourt of him and Evan Mobley is big, long, and athletic, although it could use some added muscle. Smith's five-year, $122 million extension is set to kick in, potentially making him a steal if he's in the right role.”

With a big super welterweight clash on the schedule for later this month when Xander Zayas defends his world ***** les against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis on June 27, Matchroom Boxing takes fans behind the scenes of Zayas in training camp as he physically and mentally prepares himself for the impending battle.
“Same focus, same hunger, same dedication, same everything,” Zayas said of training camp. “Nothing changes. It’s another fight, most important fight of my career. But every fight is important. Nothing different. I got to keep being who I am, being true to myself, know what works for me, exploit it.
“That’s what it comes down to. I know who I am, I know what I put myself through every camp and I know put the shifts when I need to put the shifts, so whatever he says won’t affect me because I’ve been here before. I’ve been here since I was 16 years old.”
Zayas hasn’t for one second expressed any doubts that he’s not going to come through against Boots, but he says he’s still taking him extremely seriously as he know he’s a serious contender in this fight.
“He’s the hardest opponent in my career,” Zayas says. “Every fight was a step into that direction and obviously facing somebody like Boots, former world champion coming up to a new weight class and wanting to be the king of the weight class is obviously challenging because you know he’s coming with his best. But you got to expect the best out of me and I promise it’s going to bring the best version out of Xander Zayas.”

Due to his precarious health this season, Jalen Williams played just three games for the OKC Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. In the eyes of the All-Star forward, the Thunder would be making a return trip to the championship series if his situation had been different.
Speaking to reporters in the aftermath of the Spurs’ Game 7 victory, Williams made a resounding statement about the series that transpired.
“I think we could we’ve won if I played.”
This statement from Williams did not sit well with some fans, who gave him a reality check of sorts.
“Yeah and yall woulda lost if hali didn’t get hurt last year.”

NEW DELHI: When the moment demanded a finisher, Virat Kohli delivered in trademark fashion.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru superstar fittingly struck the winning runs as RCB defeated Gujarat ******* ans by five wickets in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, successfully defending their ******* le and securing a second IPL crown.

And as Kohli launched the match-winning six into the stands, the celebrations that followed became one of the defining images of the night.

Kohli first hammered Arshad Khan for a boundary in the fifth ball of the 18th over to level the score before finishing the chase in style on the very next delivery. The veteran batter got a full ball in his arc and powered it over long-on for a towering six, sparking scenes of jubilation among players and fans alike.
As soon as the ball disappeared into the stands, Kohli removed his helmet and turned towards the RCB dugout.

With emotions pouring out, he gestured towards his teammates before spreading his arms and soaking in the moment. Holding his bat in one hand and helmet in the other, Kohli applauded the crowd that had turned the world's largest cricket stadium into a sea of red.

The camera quickly found ******* hka Sharma in the stands.

The actor celebrated wildly, clenching both fists and pumping her arms in delight as RCB players rushed onto the field to surround their talisman. The heartfelt reaction instantly became a viral moment on social media.

Chasemaster delivers on the biggest stage

The ******* le-clinching six capped another memorable innings from Kohli.

Earlier in the chase of 156, he had smashed the fastest half-century of his IPL career, reaching the landmark in just 25 ******* . The knock also placed him among the fastest fifty-makers in IPL final history.

Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer had set the tone with a blistering opening partnership, helping RCB record the fastest team fifty ever in an IPL final.

However, Gujarat ******* ans fought back strongly after the opening stand of 62, claiming four wickets for just 29 runs to briefly raise hopes of a comeback.

Kohli, though, remained calm amid the chaos. Anchoring the chase while continuing to score at a brisk rate, he ensured RCB never lost control of the target.

And when the winning moment arrived, it was only fitting that Bengaluru's biggest icon finished the job himself — with a boundary, a six, and celebrations that will be remembered for years.

Paris Saint-Germain became the first club since Real Madrid to win back-to-back UEFA Champions League ******* les after defeating Premier League champion ******* nal in a thrilling final that went into penalties.
But it was how ******* nal lost in penalties that had fans in disbelief.
While three players did convert on their attempts from the spot, Eberechi Eze and Gabriel both missed the target completely. Gabriel — who was arguably ******* nal's best player on Saturday in Budapest — stepped to the spot with a chance to extend the penalties into sudden death.
Instead, the nerves got the better of the Brazilian, and he skied his penalty five rows deep to lose the match.
No player wants to miss a penalty, but it only gets worse by missing the target. You have to at least get the shot on frame, and if the goalkeeper guesses right, you can live with that.
