The White House said Tuesday that banning yield on stablecoins would do little to increase bank lending, pushing back against estimates that stablecoin rewards could result in large amounts of deposits leaving the traditional banking system.
In an update to an April ****** ysis by the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), the White House said eliminating stablecoin yield would increase bank lending by about $2.1 billion under its baseline ****** umptions. That represents just 0.02% of outstanding bank loans.
Community banks would account for roughly $500 million of the additional lending, or about 0.03% of their loan books, according to the ****** ysis.

After watching home prices explode during the pandemic, one recent buyer has a question that probably sounds familiar to anyone who has looked at real estate lately: How can this possibly continue?
The buyer, who recently purchased a home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, asked Reddit's r/RealEstate community where the ceiling is if home prices keep appreciating while incomes struggle to keep pace.
"At some point don't we just reach a point where no one can afford a home?" they asked. They were even worried that continued appreciation could eventually make their own home difficult to sell because there wouldn't be enough buyers who could afford it.

Canadian heavyweight icon George Chuvalo, potentially the toughest man to ever live, passed this weekend on his 89th birthday after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Chuvalo fought 93 times in 22 years as a professional, sharing the ring with icons like Floyd Patterson, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and Muhammad Ali without ever once hitting the canvas. A multiple-time national champion, he twice challenged for world **** les, falling short against Ernie Terrell in 1965 and the aforementioned Ali a year later. His career highlights include his 1965 Ring Magazine Fight of the Year against Patterson and a 1969 knockout of Jerry Quarry.
Deeply beloved in his home country, Chuvalo suffered unimaginable tragedy in his personal life, losing two children to heroin addiction while both a third and his wife committed suicide. Despite this, he remained by all accounts a delightful and gregarious figure, a prolific anti-drug advocate and namesake of a community center that supports LGBTQ and other youth in his hometown of Toronto.
Sadly, accumulated damage led to Chuvalo developing dementia, for which he received care in the final years of his life.
Though he never won a world **** le or punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame, Chuvalo deserves recognition for both his extraordinary durability and his status as a genuinely good man in a sport that, at times, can feel dishearteningly short on them. Rest easy, George.

Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil sued Columbia University on Monday, alleging it failed to address harassment against him and other members of a pro-Palestinian campus group and retaliated against them when they reported it.
The university's "deliberate indifference" led to the doxing of multiple group members and Khalil's detention by immigration agents, according to the civil rights lawsuit filed in federal court in New York City.
At a news conference announcing the lawsuit, Khalil accused the university of "discrimination aimed at intimidating Palestinian students."
"We are suing because no student, regardless of their background, should go through the **** that Columbia put us through over all these years," he said.
The university declined to comment on the lawsuit, but said in an email that "creating a campus environment where every member of our community feels welcome, supported, and safe is fundamental to who we are as a University."

The Cincinnati Enquirer once again is offering a new weekly feature recognizing the accomplishments of cheerleaders, dance team members and their squads: The Spirit Award.
Much like the popular athlete of the week voting, school fans and friends voted on two weekly ballots (individual and team) for The Spirit Award. Only coaches can provide nominations each week, either for their squads or other teams.
Eligible are varsity girls and boys cheerleaders and dancers who exemplify the fruits of the spirit ‒ love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – while uplifting their squads, the student body and others. Team nominations focus on squads that come together to help each other, work hard, do things right that week, show outstanding virtues when dealing with or serving others, exceed expectations to prepare something special for the school or take part in any other honorable reason they might be acknowledged.
This week's Spirit Award winners are:
"She is an outstanding example of leadership, character, and service within our school community. Scarlett is our varsity cheer captain and sole senior cheerleader, and she has embraced that role with maturity, selflessness, and a genuine desire to make those around her better," wrote her coach, Alicia Wall, in an email to The Enquirer.

The Seattle Seahawks are 1-0, so it's time to start scouting their next opponent.
The Arizona Cardinals shocked the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 with a 26-14 win in which Mike LaFleur became the franchise's first non-interim head coach to win their first game in charge. The matchup was projected as one of the opening week's most lopsided in favor of Jim Harbaugh and Los Angeles, who were coming off an 11-6 record in 2025. Los Angeles made the playoffs and lost to the eventual AFC champion New England Patriots in the Wild Card round, albeit without either of their starting offensive tackles—Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt—who were both expected to boost the offense upon their return this season. Arizona's defense had other ideas, and became one of the biggest surprises of any unit across Week 1's Sunday slate, while their offense simply looked more talented and outplayed LA with complementary football. That's what the Seahawks will be looking for in Week 2.
The Cardinals defense played with an energy that stifled Justin Herbert and new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who only held the ball for 51 plays and 22:29. Arizona ran 21 more plays and had the ball for 15:02 more of the game (more than an entire quarter?!) When watching this game, the attitude from Arizona's defense seemed to disregard the stature of its opponent. LaFleur retained defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, who Phoenix-based sports radio host John Gambadoro credits for helping set the temperature.
It's easy to see Rallis' results. The intensity of the defense that showed up on tape is just as evident on paper. His Cardinals defense ranks second to last in blitz rate so far this season, yet they held McDaniel and Herbert to a measly 2-for-8 on third downs and 0-for-3 on fourth downs. Their front seven was far more formidable than the Chargers on the day, producing 17 pressures on 55 snaps while LA could only muster 12 on 75 opportunities. On the flipside, the Cardinals' offensive line has been projected as their downfall this season. The Seahawks have a clear opportunity to establish their presence as a physically dominant team if they kill the Cardinals momentum. This will be the game for elite run blockers like AJ Barner and run stoppers like Uchenna Nwosu to put the new age film community on watch.
Offensive talent is far from the problem in Arizona. Trey McBride is the best tight end in football. They've got two running backs in Jeremiyah Love and Tyler Allgeier who can both be a problem for any team. Marvin Harrison Jr. was a matchup nightmare against the Seahawks last season. In Week 3, he had one of the best battles against Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen of any wide receiver all year. When partnered with a seasoned veteran quarterback with a quick release, they were able to make life easy on their OL. Jacoby Brissett looked like at least an average starting QB, completing 27/37 passes for a respectable 73.0% completion rate while taking only 1 sack on 39 dropbacks. Loo

California Gov. Gavin Newsom does not like being on Donald Trump's side on any issue.
But when it comes to transgender girls and women in sports, particularly at the school level, the Democrat said he largely agrees with the Republican president. Newsom, one of his party's leading White House prospects, believes it's "deeply unfair" for people who are ***** igned male at birth to compete against girls.
"I don't want to be on that side of it, but I'm being honest — I'd be lying to you if I said differently," Newsom told The ***** ociated Press as he was campaigning recently in South Carolina. "I haven't been able to figure out how to make it fair from my perspective."
Newsom is not alone.
While most Democratic officials remain steadfast supporters of the transgender community, an increasing number in red and blue states are distancing themselves from their party's unflinching support for the transgender community's policy priorities, such as allowing athletes to compete on teams that match their gender identity. The shift follows years of conservative attacks against Democrats on the divisive issue, which affects a relatively small number of transgender people and their families, but has emerged as one of Republicans' most potent political weapons in the Trump era.

Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN), one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, recently partnered with Moov, a payments infrastructure provider, to bring stablecoin payments and settlements to more than 1,000 U.S. community banks and credit unions. By integrating Coinbase's digital ******* et infrastructure into Moov's payments platform, the two companies will enable those financial institutions to accept stablecoins without building their own blockchains.
Let's see how this partnership could help Coinbase, why everyone is talking about stablecoins right now, and how the upcoming vote on the CLARITY Act could impact those plans.

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies pegged to a stable fiat currency, such as the U.S. dollar or the euro, and can be held without a bank account. Their payments can be settled 24/7, enabling faster, cheaper money transfers than fiat currencies. They can be deposited in third-party lending platforms and liquidity pools to earn higher yields than traditional bank accounts.
Stablecoins can also allow people in countries with hyperinflation to preserve their savings without buying the underlying fiat currencies. They can also be used to accelerate cross-border transfers by acting as a "bridge currency" between the two fiat currencies.

During the September 3 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer mentioned Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for its unconventional approach to powering hyperscale data centers in partnership with Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX). He said:
How about Microsoft? Look, Mr. Softee is getting religion. They've realized that by giving us more disclosure on Azure, their cloud infrastructure business, we'll find more things to like. They're right. In the end, I come to praise Microsoft CFO Amy Hood, not bury her. They've been very clever getting power for the data centers, pumping it right out of the Permian. They got this deal with Chevron as a partner… 2.67 gigawatts. No one's talking about it. It's the cleanest behind the meter plan for power I have seen yet. People even, and this is not a stretch, I'm not kidding, people even like Copilot.
CFO Amy Hood provided Wall Street with a much clearer look at actual cloud demand by breaking down detailed Azure growth metrics and data center capacity constraints. At the same time, enterprise adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot is moving past initial trials, with major corporations deploying the AI ***** istant across workforce segments.
A major highlight of the company's infrastructure strategy is a twenty-year agreement with Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) for a proposed 2.67-gigawatt natural gas power plant in West Texas. Designed to supply dedicated off-grid electricity directly to a hyperscale data center in the Permian Basin, the project bypasses regional grid transmission queues to secure reliable power for continuous AI workloads. Microsoft Corporation's (NASDAQ:MSFT) president of Cloud Operations + Innovation, Noelle Walsh, commented:
Our agreement with Chevron helps ensure we'll have dedicated, large-scale power to support the evolution and reliability of advanced compute. Through this partnership, we're delighted to grow with and become a deeper part of the West Texas community.

Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:DLR) announced the opening of its 6.4-megawatt NBO2 data center in Nairobi on September 7, expanding the campus alongside NBO1. The opening coincides with subsidiary iColo's transition to the parent's brand in Kenya and Mozambique.
The attraction extends beyond additional server ****** e. Customers can access the campus's community of more than 100 networks, two internet exchanges and a satellite teleport, which connects terrestrial networks with satellite services. These are connectivity options, not a disclosure of NBO2's leased capacity or customer count.
For Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:DLR), the opportunity is to turn that concentration of networks into recurring customer relationships. The opening announcement did not disclose development cost, pre-leasing, occupancy, or expected revenue, leaving the financial payoff unresolved.
Interconnection can give customers a reason to choose a facility beyond price. Physical connections between customers and network providers can reduce latency and support more reliable data exchange. For businesses serving several markets, having carriers and partners close together can simplify how traffic moves between them.
That creates a potential network effect for Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:DLR). More useful connections can attract additional customers, making the location more valuable to others. Once customers build several connections into their operations, relocating can become more disruptive. The resulting retention advantage could support recurring revenue, although it remains an investment thesis rather than a demonstrated NBO2 result.

A Brazilian federal judge ordered the immediate suspension of all environmental licenses held by Sigma Mineração S.A., the operating subsidiary of Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML), for the Grota do Cirilo project. The September 4 preliminary order also halted mining activities following a civil action brought by the Federation of Quilombola Communities of Minas Gerais.
The dispute centers on whether the project lies within the area of influence of the Baú Quilombola Community and therefore required free, prior, and informed consultation. The judge cited studies placing the community's territory approximately 2.7 kilometers from the project's directly affected area, within the 8-kilometer presumptive regulatory impact radius applicable to mining projects outside Brazil's Legal Amazon under Interministerial Ordinance No. 60/2015. Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML) has argued that the project is outside the relevant impact zone.
The court ordered independent georeferencing and barred Minas Gerais and its environmental agency from issuing new licenses, amendments, or corrective approvals until the community-protection requirements are completed.
Two routes remain. If independent georeferencing supports the boundary position, Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML) could seek favorable court relief modifying or reversing the suspension. This provides an alternative to completing the consultation requirements.
If the project falls within the regulated impact area, Sigma Lithium Corporation (NASDAQ:SGML) would need Incra approval of the Quilombola Component Study, Basic Quilombola Environmental Plan and Final Execution Report, plus free, prior and informed consultation with the Baú community. Completing those requirements could preserve the project if acceptable mitigation is agreed.

Perez Hilton has cut $350,000 from the asking price of the Las Vegas home he put up for sale before moving his family to Miami.
The 48-year-old media personality is now asking $3.9 million for the six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom property, down from the $4.25 million price he set when it hit the market in June. Realtor.com reported the reduction on September 10 after the home remained unsold through the summer.
The price change comes while Hilton continues receiving medical and mental health care following a serious crisis at his Miami home in August. His family said in its most recent authorized health update that he remained hospitalized in an inpatient setting, while Page Six reported on September 11 that he was still hospitalized.
Hilton's decision to sell the Las Vegas property predates that hospitalization. He announced his move to Miami in June after about three and a half years in Nevada, saying he wanted to be closer to relatives and believed the change was right for his three children and his mother.
Hilton's home spans about 7,000 square feet in Prado, a gated community with fewer than 20 residences. The property sits on a corner lot roughly between the Las Vegas Strip and Summerlin.

Kelly Osbourne loves her mother, but she is not pretending they agree on everything.
Asked directly about Sharon Osbourne's support for British activist Tommy Robinson during an interview with Attitude at London's National Television Awards, Kelly gave an equally direct answer: "I don't agree with my mum, no."
Kelly acknowledged that political disagreements can be uncomfortable inside a family. She said Sharon is entitled to her own opinions, but made clear that her mother's position is "not for me."
The conversation then moved beyond Robinson to Kelly's relationship with the LGBTQ+ community and her mother's views on trans issues. Kelly credited drag queens with teaching her makeup, the trans community with teaching her about bravery and RuPaul's Drag Race with influencing how she presents herself.
The issue Attitude put to Kelly dates back to April, when Sharon's official Instagram account commented "See you at the march" beneath a video promoting Robinson's Unite the Kingdom event in London.

The mother of a black woman whose body was found hanging from a tree in Jackson, Mississippi, has told the BBC she is still waiting for answers from officials more than a month later.
Her demands have been echoed by a community in the southern US state that has been left shocked and angry.
After weeks of silence, police on Tuesday confirmed for the first time that they were investigating the death of Tasia Fortune, 29, as a potential homicide - while clarifying that her official cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
Authorities discovered Fortune's body on 3 August, hanging from a tree in the lot of an abandoned home.
Local concern over her death has been heightened by the fact that the state has a dark history of racial violence and lynchings.

Crypto advocates and community bankers are taking their fight over the Clarity Act to senators' home states ahead of a key vote next week.
The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural vote on the Clarity Act on September 15. The legislation would establish federal rules for digital ******* ets and divide oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
According to a report by Reuters, during the August recess, both sides targeted senators with meetings, local events, op-eds, calls, emails, and advertising.
Stand With Crypto, a Coinbase-backed advocacy group that says it has 3 million supporters, said members called or emailed Congress nearly 50,000 times in August while organizing events and placing pro-Clarity Act op-eds in local newspapers. In Georgia, chapter president Tia Williams met with staff for Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, who voted against advancing the bill out of the Senate Banking Committee.
Crypto groups have already spent at least $190 million ahead of the November midterm elections.
