Genoa director Diego Lopez claims they expected refereeing controversy in their 2-0 defeat to Napoli. 'All of Italy saw what happened today' in the controversial Kevin De Bruyne goal.
The game was still 0-0 at Marassi when Johan Vasquez stood in front of De Bruyne to shield the loose ball, but the defender went down when nudged from behind, allowing the Belgian to fire in undisturbed from seven yards.
Referee Marco Di Bello had a good view of the incident, put the whistle to his lips, and then took it out again when he saw the move was leading to a goal.
It was evaluated by VAR, who decided not to recommend an On-Field Review, as it was not considered to be a clear and obvious error.
Soon after, De Bruyne set up Antonio Vergara to score the second goal, as Napoli ran out 2-0 winners over Genoa.

Everton have received a significant late boost in their attempt to sign Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Genoa, according to a report by Kaustubh Pandey for Sport Witness, drawing on quotes translated from Italian outlets Genova24 and Secolo XIX. Genoa head coach Daniele De Rossi publicly confirmed that a late-window sale is a genuine possibility, and that discussions could move fast after their Serie A fixture against Napoli. That's a fairly open door from a manager whose club have, crucially, already identified a replacement in Como's Ignace Van Der Brempt.
Giving Everton transfer hope, he said – via Genova24: "As long as he's here, he'll play. He's training well. I think he's better than last year. I know the transfer market issues well. At most, I'll talk about it after the match."
The financials make this one genuinely attractive for Everton. Genoa originally signed Norton-Cuffy for just €2m, so even at the €20m asking price, they would be pocketing a healthy profit and negotiating from a relaxed position. For Everton, the reported £17m fee is modest by current market standards for an English full-back with real Premier League-ready qualities.
Norton-Cuffy, 22, is an England under-21 international who spent time with ******* nal's academy before building genuine senior experience across multiple loan spells in English football. That background means there is no adaptation period to account for, no bedding-in process, no language barrier. He has recorded 44 appearances across two Serie A seasons with Genoa, including 27 this campaign with two goals, one ******* ist and 25 starts.

Nicolo ***** ioli has emerged as a target for two Premier League clubs, with his path out of Fiorentina potentially opening up before the transfer window closes.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur on X, both Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are readying themselves to compete for the Italy international, with interest from England growing in recent days.
A move abroad is reportedly viewed as part of Fiorentina's broader transfer strategy this summer, rather than something the club would resist.

Genoa and Brighton have reached an agreement over a loan move for Evan Ferguson, with the Republic of Ireland striker set for a return to Serie A.
According to Sky Sport, the deal will see Ferguson join on loan with Brighton covering 30% of his wages, and he isn't expected to be available until early October.

The move continues a pattern for the Irishman, who has been farmed out repeatedly since establishing himself at Brighton, following a difficult spell at West Ham in early 2025 and a season at Roma last year, where an ankle injury limited him to 16 league appearances and just three goals.
Daniele De Rossi's Genoa have been searching for a recognised centre-forward after a summer of departures left the club short up front, and are prepared to be patient with Ferguson's recovery in the hope of getting the best of a player once considered one of the Premier League's brightest young strikers.

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur, with the defender agreeing a five-year contract with the Serie A champions.
The 26-year-old has joined Inter for a reported fee of around €30 million (£25.6m), bringing his four-year spell in north London to an end. Spence will remain at San Siro until June 2031.
Spence arrived at Tottenham from Middlesbrough in 2022 and went on to make 85 appearances for the club. He played an important role in their Europa League triumph during the 2024-25 campaign, while making 44 appearances across all competitions last season.
His future at Spurs had been uncertain despite manager Roberto De Zerbi previously expressing a desire to keep him. The emergence of Pedro Porro, who recently signed a new contract, alongside the arrival of Andy Robertson from Liverpool, increased competition for places in defence.
Spence has also gained experience outside England, spending time on loan with Rennes, Leeds United and Genoa.

Everton are reportedly mulling over a move for Genoa defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy, according to The I Paper.
While the Toffees are considering Alistair Johnston and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to sort their right-back conundrum, the Englishman is also on their list of targets.
Everton boss David Moyes will be desperate to land a new right-back following Seamus Coleman's exit. Nathan Patterson has struggled to stay fit.
The Merseyside club was forced to field Jake O'Brien at right-back last season, but he'd rather line up in his natural centre-half position, forcing them into the transfer market.

Milan have agreed the straight loan of Zachary Athekame to Olympique Lyonnais, claim French reports, with no option to make it permanent.
There had already been suggestions today in the Italian media that Athekame was one of the players to be cut from the squad after a disappointing pre-season with new coach Ruben Amorim.

Just hours later, French transfer pundit Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport revealed that Lyon had agreed terms for a dry loan, meaning there is no option to buy at the end of the season.
The Ligue 1 side will cover his full salary during the campaign, but he will then return to San Siro in the summer of 2027.

Speculation has been a little subdued recently over a move for the Real Oviedo man, but the winger who impressed at the recent World Cup in the United States, has turned his back on a the lucrative offer from an unknown Saudi club.
Spanish outlet La Nueva Espana have claimed that the skilful winger was offered a five-year contract worth £2million per year from the unknown club.
That equates to around £38,500 per week, but it isn't enough to convince Hassan to make the move
The outlet further suggests that the 24 year old isn't interested in a move to the Gulf State, and will only consider a move to another European club, leaving the door open ever so wider for Celtic to make their move before transfer window slams shut in a few weeks time.

Celtic have revived their interest in Farès Ghedjemis after fresh reports placed the Algerian winger back near the top of the club's shortlist. According to The Herald, the Scottish champions have reopened talks after narrowly missing out on the 23-year-old during the January transfer window, when Frosinone convinced him to remain and help their promotion push from Serie B.
Transfer Feed carried comments from Martin O'Neill, who admitted Celtic hold a "very, very strong interest" in Ghedjemis. While he stopped short of suggesting an agreement is close, O'Neill revealed discussions are progressing well. He added that he could not confirm whether Rangers are actively pursuing the winger despite recent speculation linking the Ibrox side with the same player.
The report states that negotiations for Real Oviedo's Haissem Hassan have slowed, making Ghedjemis a more realistic option. Frosinone are understood to value the Algeria international at around £8 million (€10 million) after a remarkable campaign that transformed his reputation across Italian football.

Genoa v AC Milan, the final away game of the season. At Marassi, home to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium (named after a former Genoa player), the Rossoneri head into the end of their campaign aiming for a win against the Rossoblù. Recent encounters have proved favourable for us, with a record of six wins from the last seven trips to Genoa. One of the most memorable was on 7 October 2023, when the Rossoneri won thanks to a goal from Pulisic, before a dramatic finale that saw Olivier Giroud step in as goalkeeper.
In front of around 33,000 spectators, Pioli's Rossoneri went into action just days after a goalless away game in Dortmund against BVB. In the league, they had shown promising form, and they were on their way to a fourth straight win and a seventh victory from their first eight matches. There were several changes to the Rossoneri lineup, with the attacking trio Chukwueze, Jović, and Okafor starting. The match was close and hard-fought, with Gilardino's Genoa defending well and posing a serious attacking threat. The chances came in the final 30 minutes. Leão's header hit the crossbar, and Maignan produced a spectacular save to deny a deflected left-footed effort from Drăgușin. The final minutes turned into a frantic end to the match with everything still possible. In the 87th minute, Pulisic found a cross sent in by Musah and sent it to the back of the net to give the Rossoneri the lead. The goal was given after a VAR review by referee Piccinini.
In the 96th minute, Maignan came off his line and went into a challenge with Ekuban on the edge of the box. Following a VAR review, referee Piccinini showed our goalkeeper a straight red for a serious foul. With all substitutions already used up, Giroud went in goal. In the 102nd minute, after five minutes of stoppage time, the free kick was taken: Tomori deflected Guðmundsson's shot onto the crossbar. Then just a minute later, the Genoa goalkeeper, Josep Martinez, was also sent off for a second yellow after a foul on Musah inside the Rossoneri penalty area. In the 104th minute, Giroud stepped up with a heroic save, rushing out bravely to deny Pușcaș's attempt at goal. A dramatic finale in an unforgettable encounter.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Schalke are among the clubs showing interest in signing George Ilenikhena from Al-Ittihad. The deal would be difficult for the newly-promoted Bundesliga side as the Saudi Pro League club paid €33 million to sign the Nigerian from AS Monaco in January.
However, the striker is already looking for a return to Europe after only six appearances, with five of them as a substitute. Al-Ittihad are reportedly open to a loan with a buying option.
Tavolieri mentioned Championship side West Ham United and Genoa as other clubs exploring a deal for the 19-year-old. Before turning 20 next month, Ilenikhena is already involved in transfers worth nearly €60 million. He signed a contract until 2029 when he joined the Jeddah club.Ilenikhena scored against Barcelona in the Champions League both as a Royal Antwerp and Monaco player.

Former Olympique Lyonnais and Montpellier HSC midfielder Jordan Ferri (34) is open to returning to France this summer, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Ferri left Ligue 1 a year ago to join Sampdoria, looking to experience Italian football in Serie B. However, his first season in Genoa did not unfold as hoped, with the Frenchman making only six appearances across all competitions.
Despite that limited playing time, Ferri remains determined to relaunch his career ahead of the new campaign. The midfielder would reportedly be receptive to an interesting project in either Ligue 1 or Ligue 2.
The Cavaillon-born player remains under contract with Sampdoria until 2027, meaning any prospective French club would need to reach an agreement with the Italian side.
Ferri could offer considerable experience to a team looking to reinforce its midfield. The former Lyon academy graduate has made 505 senior appearances during his career, registering 29 goals and 36 **** ists.GFFN | George Boxall

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have set their eyes on Tottenham Hotspur fullback Djed Spence for their seemingly cursed right flank.
The Nerazzurri simply haven't had a moment of respite since selling Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid earlier in the summer.
They had Marco Palestra earmakred as the Dutchman's long-term replacement, only for the young Italian to ditch them for a move to Chelsea at the eleventh hour, much to Beppe Marrotta's chagrin.
They then had a €25m deal agreed with Union Saint-Gilloise for Anan Khalaili, only for the Italian National Olympic Committee to deny him medical approval.
Now, the Inter want Djed Spence, whose stock is skyrocketing by the minute. The 25-year-old was once available to Genoa at €10 million after his half-season loan at the Luigi Ferraris; now his value has tripled that, and he could go for well more than that given how things pan out over the week.

Last season, Cagliari finished 14th in the Italian top flight, ahead of the likes of Fiorentina and Genoa.

Everton have stepped up their pursuit of Genoa right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy. Representatives and intermediaries connected to the Italian side are already locked in fresh talks. Genoa look ready to sell the 22-year-old this summer if someone meets their valuation. They want around €20 million, which pans out at roughly £17 million.
It is a price tag that sits comfortably within the current budget at Goodison Park, and club chiefs view it as a highly realistic target. The player is keen too. A return to the Premier League holds massive appeal, especially with the guarantee of regular top-flight minutes on the table. Settling into the dressing room should be a breeze. He already knows several faces in David Moyes’s squad, having shared pitches with Tyrique George, Tyler Dibling, and Hayden Hackney during his time with the England Under-21s.
Born in Pimlico and polished in the ***** nal academy system, Norton-Cuffy built his reputation the hard way. He ground out dirty minutes in the Championship during loan spells at Lincoln, Rotherham, Coventry, and Millwall. Then Genoa called. Moving to Serie A is usually a daunting leap for a young British defender. He handled it. Last season, Brooke Norton-Cuffy racked up 2,216 minutes across 27 appearances, starting 25 times after making a debut against Atalanta. Two goals and an ***** ist across the campaign showed his attacking intent, even if a couple of red cards and discipline issues showed he still has a bit of rawness.

That brings us to the real question. Does Moyes actually need him? The right-back spot is already looking incredibly crowded, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still the primary target for that role. Rico Lewis and Djed Spence are hovering on the radar, too. Bringing Norton-Cuffy into that mix feels less like strategic squad building and more like a club struggling to make a definitive choice.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are interested in USMNT striker Folarin Balogun and are preparing the first offer to sign Franck Kessié as a free agent.
Juventus have made just one summer signing so far, welcoming Italian winger Jeff Ekhator from Genoa, but new directors Giovanni Carnevali and Frederic Massara are working to give coach Luciano Spalletti more reinforcements.
According to Gazzetta, the Serie A giants are ready to send an offer to sign ex-Milan and Atalanta star Franck Kessié as a free agent.
The 29-year-old refused to sign a contract extension with Al-Ahli and is open to returning to Serie A, but his agent has demanded over €5m in signing bonus, Gazzetta claims.

Patrick Vieira could become the next manager of the Senegal national team following the dismissal of Pape Thiaw after the country’s exit in the World Cup round of 32.
Senegal has established itself as one of Africa’s strongest national teams in recent years, but it endured a disappointing campaign at the World Cup. They reached the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams before seeing their tournament come to an end earlier than many had anticipated.
The national team had been widely expected to make a strong impression during the competition and came close to eliminating Belgium in the round of 32. However, Senegal surrendered a two-goal advantage late in the match and eventually suffered a 3-2 defeat, bringing their World Cup campaign to an unexpected conclusion.
The result prompted Senegal to make a managerial change as the football authorities began searching for a new head coach capable of guiding the team over the coming years. Vieira has now emerged as one of the leading candidates for the position.
According to L’Equipe, Senegal wants to appoint Vieira as their next manager. The former ***** nal midfielder has built coaching experience through spells in Major League Soccer, at Crystal Palace and with Genoa in Italy.

Newly-promoted Frosinone have announced that Gabriele Calvani, Seydou Fini and Giorgio Cittadini have renewed their loans from Genoa and Atalanta.
The Canarini finished second in the Serie B table last season, securing automatic promotion back to the top flight.
They did it largely thanks to a squad packed with young talent on loan from Serie A sides.
Now those are allowed to continue the project at the Stadio Benito Stirpe, as they renewed their loan agreements for one more season.

Patrick Vieira could replace Pape Thiaw as the manager of the Senegal national team, according to a report from L'Équipe.
The publication understands that there will be a debrief of Senegal's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on Saturday. The African nation, who beat Morocco in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, went out at the Round of 32. That was despite leading Belgium 2-0 going into the final stages of the game. A quickfire brace from the Red Devils and a Youri Tielemans winner deep into injury time dumped Thiaw's side out of the competition.
As a result of this perceived failure, Thiaw's position as the national team manager is under threat. His future could be decided today. Some members of the federation want to bring in Vieira, according to L'Équipe.
The France international was born in the Senegalese capital of Dakar, has invested in one of the nation's biggest training centres (Diambars) and is not attached to a club currently, following his exit from Genoa back in November.

Artem Dovbyk continues to be linked with a summer move away from Roma and the latest reports in Italy claim that Ajax head coach Michel, who coached the Ukrainian at Girona, is keen for a reunion in Amsterdam.
Dovbyk joined Roma in a deal worth €30.5m plus add-ons in the summer of 2024 and went on to score 12 goals from 32 league appearances during his first season at the Stadio Olimpico. His 2025-26 campaign was plagued by injuries, though limiting him to just three starts in the league across the season.
Recent reports claim that Roma are keen to shift the centre-forward, who remains under contract for another three seasons until the summer of 2029.
There have been reports that Genoa are interested in a deal for Dovbyk, which would bring a reunion with his former Giallorossi head coach Daniele De Rossi, but this might be a tricky transfer for the Rossoblu to pull off on financial grounds.
Instead, it is Dovbyk's former Girona coach, Michel, now in charge at Ajax, who is said to be interested in exploring a deal with Roma.

Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin has joined Serie A side Fiorentina on loan for the 2026-27 season.
The deal also includes an obligation for the Italian side to buy the 24-year-old if specific performance-based criteria are met.
Dragusin joined Spurs from Genoa for £25m on a six-and-a-half-year deal in January 2024 and has made 48 appearances for the club.
He struggled to recover from a serious knee injury suffered in February 2025 and only featured 11 times last season.

Artem Dovbyk is expected to leave Roma.
The Ukrainian striker isn't part of Gian Piero Gasperini's coaching plan, although he will likely attend the training camp scheduled for July 13th at Trigoria.
The Giallorossi, however, intend to capitalize on the former Girona player's sale, allowing them to invest in Malen as his replacement. Genoa has made an offer for Dovbyk but has requested the player on loan, a deal that can't meet Roma's financial needs.
Daniele De Rossi has made moves to bring Artem Dovbyk to Genoa. As Corriere dello Sport reports, the former Roma coach spoke directly with the player to understand the terms of the deal, but the club has put a damper on the deal.
The Giallorossi are unwilling to accept a loan deal that would also require them to contribute to the player's wages. A different deal is being worked on at Trigoria that could guarantee a financial return for the club.

Another Tottenham Hotspur player is out the door! According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham has reached an agreement to sell Romanian central defender Radu Dragusin to Fiorentina this summer. The deal is reportedly a loan with a purchase obligation, with the loan fee plus obligation totaling £21.5m.
Ironically, £21.5m is exactly what Spurs paid to Genoa when they purchased Dragusin in January 2024, so that makes this transfer a pretty good deal for a player that never seemed to fit in with Tottenham or their tactics. Dragusin proved to be a little too slow, a little too poor in possession, a little too bad at playing out of the back to really establish himself at Spurs, then he went and did his knee and missed almost a year. Now it's clear he's surplus to requirements after Spurs went out and acquired two central defenders to play ahead of him.
I'm not wild about the "set number of games" clause to hit the full purchase price, because there's always a chance that STUFF will happen and he might not hit those numbers. That said, this is definitely Fabio Paratici, once Spurs co-Sporting Director and now Director of Football at La Viola, doing us a solid. The 10% sell-on fee is pretty nice too. Thanks, buddy!
I don't have anything against Radu. By all accounts he was an exemplary teammate and a good guy, and he did win the Europa League trophy with us. I'll miss his Rubix Cube abilities and his wacky top knot hairstyle, but I won't especially miss his football — he never did seem like he was good enough to really play at the top level (or even the bottom level) of the Premier League.
Italy seems like a good place for him to kick-start his career back in motion, and I wish him well. We'll wait for the official announcement, but I expect it'll come soon.

Fabrizio Romanò reports that Fiorentina's on the verge of signing Tottenham Hotspurs defender Radu Drǎgușin on loan with an obligation to buy next summer for a total of €20 million, as well as the player's €5.1 million salary this year. Alasdair Gold believes the total fee is closer to €25 million and the purchase will be triggered by the Drǎgușin meeting certain performance objectives; Spurs will also get 10% of the next transfer fee for him. Nicolò Schira chimes in that the centerback's contract will run until 2031.
Fabio Paratici loves nothing more than raiding his previous club for talent so this comes as no surprise. There was reporting in late May that Drǎgușin was of interest to the Viola brass but the rumors died down over the past month. It makes sense for everyone, too, as the 24-year-old never found his feet in London, making just 48 appearances over 3 seasons since his €20 million move from Genoa in 2023 and being linked to the exit for quite some time, although an ACL injury in 2025 knocked him out for some of that span.
Despite his struggles for Spurs, Drǎgușin's a good player. He has all the physical characteristics you'd want—size, strength, quickness—and he's good on the ball. Despite his athleticism, he struggles in a high line as he doesn't always see the whole pitch and is ****** e to losing forwards darting in behind, but that might have also been a structural issue with Ange Postecoglou's paper-thin defense. Leaving the Premier League for the slower Serie A should suit him, especially since Fabio Grosso's worked with stylistically similar players at Sassuolo.
Drǎgușin joins too many other centerbacks in Florence: Luca Ranieri, Marin Pongračić, Pietro Comuzzo, and new signing Viery will all expect to play significant minutes, minutes that aren't available for a team not in Europe. Pongračić had some good moments at the World Cup and is almost certain to move this summer, leaving Paratici to sort out which of Ranieri and Comuzzo he wants to keep; expect to hear plenty more about this positional group in the coming weeks.
For now, though, we can be fairly excited about Drǎgușin despite his Juve connections. This is a fairly young defender with 30 caps for Romania, experience in Serie A and the Champions League, and the full package of talent. He's pricey, sure, but this is a good gamble on a player the DS knows well. Centerback isn't Fiorentina's most desperate area of need but Paratici's committed to tearing this thing down to the foundation and rebuilding it.

Roma’s attacking certainty is Donyell Malen.
To improve their attack ahead of next season, the Giallorossi are seeking suitors for Dovbyk (watch out for Genoa) and Vaz (on loan).
Inevitably, the focus will then be on a center forward who will allow the Dutch striker to rest and have a ready alternative in case of poor performances in front of goal.
Aside from Greenwood, Roma is exploring several players who could be a good fit, especially if the former Girona player were to leave, as he is currently holding off on any incoming deals. Among those being monitored is Andrea Pinamonti.
As reported by Tuttosport, in addition to Tresoldi, the Giallorossi are also considering the Sassuolo striker, a player already familiar with Serie A.
