Givairo Read and Feyenoord are considering a €25m offer from Roma, with Nottingham Forest also interested. 'I want to consider a transfer if that opportunity arises.'

He came up through the Feyenoord youth academy, and is also on the radar for Nottingham Forest, so Roma are hoping that their €25m offer can prove sufficient to get a deal over the line quickly.

As the Chicago Bulls approach the fall with an open roster spot, they've been linked to LA Clippers restricted free agent guard Bennedict Mathurin. The Bulls' reported interest in Mathurin, though, has been overstated, according to a league source who was granted anonymity to describe ongoing deliberations.
New York Times
Marc Stein: The Pelicans and Bulls remain engaged suitors for Clippers RFA Bennedict Mathurin, says one source close to the process. The source adds: "Dallas has not expressed interest at a serious level" thus far. MikeAScotto reported today that Milwaukee has joined the Mathurin chase. — 7/31/2026 x.com
While the Los Angeles Clippers remain interested in re-signing restricted free agent Bennedict Mathurin, the New Orleans Pelicans, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and Dallas Mavericks have expressed sign-and-trade interest in the 24-year-old swingman, league sources told HoopsHype. With that said, there's work to be done by each team if they're going to add Mathurin. — 7/31/2026 HoopsHype

Over the last several months, as Los Angeles Lakers star guard Austin Reaves neared his opportunity to opt out of his contract and cash in on a lucrative new one, many expected him to stay put. He eventually did by agreeing to a four-year, $185 million deal, but the process didn't come without anxiety.
He admitted that there was a point in the negotiations when he doubted he would end up staying with the Lakers. Indeed, the Detroit Pistons were one team that was "coming aggressively" for Reaves in free agency, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Detroit finished first in the Eastern Conference last season but needed a little more star power and another legitimate scoring threat in its halfcourt game.
Vincent Goodwill of ESPN reported on "NBA Today" that Pistons superstar Cade Cunningham tried to recruit Reaves to the Motor City.
"Banking on internal improvement has been the thought going back from last summer when they didn't make a big move going into the season," Goodwill said. "They want to see how Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson and Ron Holland would play together and it led to 60 wins. Now you're thinking Detroit was going to go make a big move this past offseason. Cade Cunningham was very involved in the potential recruitment of Austin Reaves. Austin Reaves re-signed with the Lakers. Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving -- those were all names the Pistons were interested in. No moves materialized and now they're going to bank on the restricted free agent of Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson's extension."
The Pistons have made some incremental moves this summer, including bringing in veteran forwards John Collins, Tobias Harris and Taurean Prince and guard Isaiah Joe. But they have largely been left behind in the arms race that has taken place throughout the Eastern Conference over the past several weeks.

Tarik Skubal is a needle-mover, a game-changer, a franchise-altering player.
That has never been in question. In fact, it's the reason that from now until the trade deadline at 6 p.m. ET Monday (or until a Skubal trade happens), there will continue to be nonstop rumors and speculation about where he'll make his next start. And despite all the hyperbole about what a Skubal trade could mean in the grand scheme of baseball, what's not hyperbolic is his monumental impact for prospective clubs.
This caliber of starter hasn't been moved at the trade deadline since Hall of Famer CC Sabathia was traded from Cleveland to the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008. It's just not often that back-to-back Cy Young Award winners are available, but when one is, it could mean the difference between a team merely reaching the postseason and believing it can win the World Series.
Looking at the landscape of the league, a Skubal trade could shift the balance of power in an entire league, especially given that the teams interested in the Tigers' ace are already some of the best in the sport.
For a team such as the Milwaukee Brewers, a trade for Skubal would show the rest of the National League that they're not messing around in 2026. After getting swept by the Dodgers in the 2025 NLCS, Milwaukee would be declaring its intention to return as a challenger to L.A.

Rangers are interested in bringing Frosinone attacker Fares Ghedjemis to Ibrox this summer, according to Sky Sports. Bears manager Derek McInnes has been strengthening his Rangers squad this summer as he looks to win the Scottish Premiership next term. The France-born Ghedjemis has now emerged as a target for the Light Blues after Celtic failed with a bid during the last winter transfer window. The 23-year-old Algerian international bagged 15 goals to help Frosinone secure Serie A promotion, which has impressed Rangers.
Ghedjemis featured at the World Cup and a move to Ibrox could now be on the cards. Rangers are now pushing for a deal and are making a strong move as he is their first target to strengthen in attack.
The Frenchman has several suitors keen on recruiting his services this summer, but the Bears appear to be one of the favourites to sign him. Frosinone will have to start looking elsewhere for attacking reinforcements as they look to impress in the Italian top-flight without the Rangers target.

On late Thursday night, we finally had some free-agent wide receiver news. And it involved the Washington Commanders, sort of, as Deebo Samuel returned to the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal. Samuel spent last season with the Commanders, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
With Samuel off the board, could we soon learn the fate of Stefon Diggs?
Per ESPN's John Keim, the Commanders are continuing to monitor the situation.
"There's only one guy that I think Washington would sign, and it's Stefon Diggs," Keim said on his podcast, the "John Keim Report," on Thursday.
"I would say they continue to monitor that situation, and you can take that however you want. When you monitor it, you are not doing it from afar; you're not doing it like, 'Oh, I wonder what's going to happen?' If you're monitoring it, what do you think that means? It means you're in the know. Where that goes, I don't know. I don't know how many teams are interested in Diggs. We do know he'd like to play here. We do know this team could use another receiver. The fact that Diggs has not signed yet would suggest that no offer has been made to his liking, or his agent's liking."

BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles acquired catcher Jake Rogers from the Detroit Tigers on Thursday for minor league right-hander Zane Barnhart.
The Tigers designated Rogers for ******* ignment earlier in the week, and it wasn't a huge surprise Baltimore was interested. The Orioles' top two catchers — Adley Rutschman and Samuel Basallo — are on the injured list. They used Sam Huff and Chadwick Tromp as replacements, getting almost no offense from either, before designating Huff for ******* ignment and bringing up Yohel Pozo from Double-A.
Rogers is batting .161 with three home runs and nine RBIs this season. His career average is .197.
Since July 19, Huff, Tromp and Pozo have gone 2 for 35 at the plate for the Orioles.
Barnhart has gone 2-3 with a 4.05 ERA in 31 relief appearances this year for Double-A Chesapeake.

It was the final Day 3 of Big Ten football media days 2026 in Chicago, and with it, we heard from the last third of the league's coaches and teams, after hearing from Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and players on Wednesday. On Thursday, we heard from Matt Rhule (Nebraska), Mike Locksley (Maryland), Kyle Whittingham (Michigan), David Braun (Northwestern), Jedd Fisch (Washington), and Curt Cignetti (Indiana).
If you are like us, we are interested in what all the head coaches in the conference have to say, and if so, then we have all of the press conferences from each head coach on Thursday for you. In this case, we've got one very interesting to Ohio State fans: new Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham and what he had to say about where the Wolverine program is and what might be in store for this year.
Have a listen. Can Whittingham turn the page from all the drama the Michigan program has seen over the last few years and get quarterback Bryce Underwood to take the all-important next step in development this season?

'Disappointing': Baker Mayfield angrily blasts Buccaneers for lack of contract update originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Uncertainty is the biggest nemesis of NFL front offices. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are learning that the hard way. Vita Vea had already requested a trade out of their franchise. Now, it has become apparent that Baker Mayfield is also livid about how the front office is treating his contract situation.
Baker Mayfield is currently entering the last year of his $100 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Projections from pundits have him making at least $50 million after what he has shown in the past three years.

By now, the Buccaneers front office should be figuring out how to keep Mayfield, as he is still in his prime years. However, it looks like they are not that interested in having him as their quarterback for long. Contract negotiations have stalled, and Mayfield seems fed up about the situation. He blasted the front office and declared that his output with the Buccaneers begets a long-term deal that's prioritized, via Nick Shook of NFL.com.

It's by far the biggest decision of the 2026 MLB trade deadline: Do the Detroit Tigers -- at 51-58 and six games out of first in the AL Central as of writing this -- keep ace Tarik Skubal for a possible playoff run or should they deal him given that free agency is looming and they could lose him for nothing?
We have a reported answer from ESPN's Jeff Passan on SportsCenter after Skubal may have made his last start in a Tigers uniform on Wednesday: Yup, it's happening.
"Yeah, Tarik Skubal is going to be traded," he said. "The Tigers haven't gone to teams that are interested in him and said as much at this point, but the expectation is that's going to happen in the next day or two."
He cited the fact that the Tigers haven't played so well as of late and that's a factor for the franchise. Here's more:
We'll see if this happens by the Aug. 3 trade deadline and what the Tigers can get for the biggest name on the market who could change a contender's fortunes.

Bayer Leverkusen have explored a potential move for Olympique de Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi (27), according to a report from La Provence.
The Argentina international has informed Marseille's new management team, led by president Stéphane Richard and sporting director Grégory Lorenzi, that he would like to leave the Stade Vélodrome this summer.
Balerdi is not currently interested in a return to Germany, where he previously represented Borussia Dortmund. The centre-back would instead prefer to continue his career in another major European league.
Balerdi initially joined Marseille on loan from Dortmund in 2020 before completing a permanent move one year later. After six seasons in Provence, he reportedly believes that the time has come to seek a new challenge.
Marseille considered Balerdi non-transferable last summer but are now prepared to listen to offers. Yet the defender remains under contract until 2028 and is reportedly among the five highest-paid members of the squad, earning an estimated €350,000 per month.

Trafford Council held the first of four open days on Wednesday to allow local residents to ****** s the proposed Wharfside Strategic Masterplan, which will have Manchester United's new stadium as its centrepiece.
There are going to be four open days before the consultation period closes on 22 September and for the 90 minutes I attended, there were a steady stream of interested observers, keen to ****** s what the multi-billion pound development will look like and where the stadium will sit within it.
Club, project and council officials were also present, with all noting a general sense of positivity around the plans, which were given the green light by the council last week.
Subtle tweaks can be made, and United officials are keen to stress nothing should be read into the fact the distinctive circus tent aspect of the previous stadium design is not evident in this one.
Not everyone was wholly upbeat. One long-standing local United fan - 73-year-old Phil Sharp, who was keen to tell me he saw Duncan Edwards play - is unhappy the club have moved from the initial site, close to the current Old Trafford, to another location 350 yards away.

Arsenal and Chelsea have frequently taken their London rivalry into the transfer market, and that trend continued this summer when the Blues beat the Gunners to the signing of Morgan Rogers.
Arsenal remain active in the transfer market, and the two clubs could now compete for another player. Reports suggest both sides are interested in Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal as they continue to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
Bernal is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Barcelona's squad. However, with the Spanish club boasting significant depth and competing at the highest level, securing regular first-team football has proved challenging for the midfielder.
According to Football Talk, ****** nal and Chelsea are both interested in signing Bernal during the current transfer window. ****** nal are reportedly prepared to offer the midfielder the opportunity to establish himself in their first team if he decides to make the move.
Chelsea are also said to have made similar ****** urances, leaving Bernal with an important decision over his future. The midfielder is expected to weigh up which club can provide him with the best opportunity for regular football, while remaining at Barcelona is also understood to be an option.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Martin Terrier (29) could make a return to Ligue 1 after leaving Rennes for Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen two years ago, according to a report from Foot Mercato. The French player, uncapped at international level, only scored seven goals in 44 games played with the Werkself. Terrier's spell in Germany has been marred by injuries, including an Achilles tear last year.
Terrier still has three years of contract left with Bayer Leverkusen, but the perspective of returning to France appeals to him. The 29-year-old is reportedly in talks with his former club, Rennes, where he spent three remarkable campaigns. Les Bretons could be in need of further attacking options with Switzerland international Breel Embolo attracting interest.
But Rennes are not the only Ligue 1 club courting Terrier. Marseille, who will compete in the UEFA Europa League, like Rennes, are also interested in signing the former Lyon and Strasbourg forward. Current Marseille manager Bruno Genesio notably coached Terrier during his peak years at Rennes, between 2021 and 2023. Marseille also need at least one striker following the exits of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mason Greenwood.

Piers Morgan had a heated exchange with Cornell University student Austin Franco Tuesday after Franco stood by his comments saying he would not want to be "working for a Jew" after rejecting an internship last month.
Franco came under fire last month after rejecting New York City startup VryfID co-founders Gabe and Aiden Einhorn for an interview by attacking their religious background.
"Not interested in working for a Jew. Thanks," Franco reportedly wrote back.
While listening to Franco's side of the story on his show, "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Morgan was shocked that Franco refused to take back or apologize for his incendiary comment despite him and his parents facing backlash.

Saudi Arabia government official Turki Alalshikh's investment deal into Derby County could be finalised as early as next week.
Alalshikh, co-founder of boxing promotion company Zuffa, is interested in buying a stake in the Championship club and there has been a deal on the table with English football's independent regulator since May.
With final checks set to take place, his investment is expected to be given the green light in the coming days, BBC Radio Derby reports.
The proposed deal had raised concerns among human rights campaigners, including Amnesty International, which last month said the independent regulator faced a "defining test" over the investment.
Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority - and someone who is close to the Kingdom's de facto ruler Mohammed bin Salman - has been criticised by human rights groups for his role in alleged 'sportswashing'.

Falkirk boss John McGlynn insists there has been "no contact" from the Scottish FA over the national team manager vacancy but wouldn't be drawn on whether he'd be interested in taking the job.
Scotland are searching for a new boss after Steve Clarke left following this summer's World Cup where his side failed to progress out of the group stage.
After securing back-to-back promotions with the Bairns and a top-six finish on their first season back in the top flight, McGlynn was tipped as an excellent choice to succeed Clark by former Scotland manager Craig Levain.
While the 64-year-old insists he's flattered to be linked to the position, he's fully committed to Falkirk.
"It's amazing for high-profile people in the game to be pushing my name for that job," McGlynn told Sky Sports.

Liverpool are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola this summer.
According to The Athletic, the Reds are set to make an official bid for the 23-year-old.
PSG are reportedly demanding a £145 million fee to sanction a sale, but the Premier League giants have no intention to meet such a high valuation.
Liverpool want to secure a deal closer to £100m, given the player has made it clear he won't sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
Barcola has significantly enhanced his reputation as one of the best young forwards since joining PSG in 2023.

Paris Saint-Germain are not expected to attempt to sign AFC Bournemouth's Éli Junior Kroupi (20) this summer, according to reports from RMC Sport.
Whilst seeking an attacking reinforcement to compensate for the departures of Gonçalo Ramos (24), Lee Kang-in (25) and Randal Kolo Muani (27), the Rouge et Bleu management have not, for the time being, opened the door to the young striker's arrival in the capital, although he is reportedly interested in the project and has supporters within the club.
However, given the Cherries' determination to keep him and the potential cost of prising him away, the Kroupi deal is not currently a priority. A sum in excess of €100m is said to be the minimum required for any club wishing to secure his services.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's Ferran Torres (26) and Atalanta's Charles de Ketelaere (25) – whose names have already been linked with the two-time European champions – are on Paris's shortlist. So too is a third player, whose identity has not yet been revealed.

I recently released my first batch of my favorite NFL win totals to bet for the 2026-27 season. A derivative futures market off of that one is whether or not a team will make the postseason, which is what I'll explore in this article.
I like trying to find some longer shots in these markets, where our preseason priors might end up being far off and the returns from our wagers can loom larger. I found three teams with some asymmetry worth exploiting.
Here are a few NFL playoff make/miss wagers that I like right now:
The Rams have the shortest odds to win the Super Bowl, and yet I am interested in their market to miss the playoffs entirely. So, what gives?
Among NFL teams, Los Angeles is one where injury risk looms the largest. A 37-year old Matthew Stafford came into last season with serious concerns about his back injuries, sitting out most of training camp and all of preseason, while getting multiple pain injections into his spine. While Stafford went on to nullify those concerns — playing in all 17 games and winning MVP — it doesn't change the fact that he's now a year older and still has a heightened injury possibility compared to other QBs. If Stafford got hurt, the Rams would have to rely on rookie first-round pick QB Ty Simpson.
