The point guard held her own, scoring a team-high 14 points in a 94-61 victory over China in the first game of the group stage in Berlin, Germany. Clark added three rebounds and 11 **** ists with no turnovers. Paige Bueckers also scored 14 points.
"Like, how lucky am I? This is pretty special and pretty cool, and there's so many people that would kill to be in this spot and have this type of opportunity," Clark told FIBA before the tournament began.
"Especially to play for the USA team, let alone play in the WNBA and live out your dream every single day. So I try to look at, look at it the other way and think about how lucky I am and how grateful I am."

LeBron James and Austin Reaves formed a great bond during their time as teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers, but it turns out the former might not have been too pleased about deferring to the latter last season. James became the third option on the Lakers behind Reaves and Luka Doncic, and The Athletic's Law Murray revealed his internal struggle during a Reddit AMA.
"Covering LeBron James last season, he had an internal conflict going on with how much he had to defer to Austin Reaves (even Bron understood that Luka was the top dawg in any circumstance)," Murray stated. "Bron was very pleased with being able to still be the lead option in a postseason setting, particularly a winning one against the Rockets."
Doncic is a generational talent at the peak of his powers, while Reaves is an undrafted guard who has improved with each passing year. It would have been a lot easier to defer to one of them.
As for how James found himself in that position, the Lakers were struggling a bit in the first half of the 2025-26 campaign when he, Doncic, and Reaves were all on the floor together. There was some improvement over time, but it was only when the pecking order changed that they really took off.

The beer maker will also establish a farmer-led advisory committee that will provide insight on how the investments can best support growers in the company's agricultural supply chain.

Assets held by India's family offices are projected to grow 1.5 times over the next three years, from approximately INR700bn ($7.1bn) in 2024, according to research by Julius Baer and EY.

Conor McGregor must be out of his mind, at least according to Max Holloway.
Their highly anticipated rematch at UFC 329 turned out to be a dud thanks to McGregor blowing out his knee on an immediate jumping kick, resulting in Holloway winning by injury TKO after just 69 seconds of limited action. In the weeks following the July 11 event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, McGregor did his best to play damage control by calling for the fight to be ruled a no contest as he blamed, in part, the fog used during his entrance for causing him to slip and get injured, while also promising his "generational beating" of Holloway is simply postponed until they run it back.
All of which is laughable to Holloway.
"For that dude to be talking about how it was slippery because of the dry ice or whatever, I don't know what he's talking about because I didn't fall," Holloway said in a video posted on his YouTube channel Friday. "Him talking about this 'generational beating,' dude is delusional. Because, to me, he felt slow in there. He felt slow. He looked old. If there was going to be a generational beating, it wasn't going to be on his end, I'll tell you that much. It wasn't going to be coming from his side.

So when he needs to get a point across, it is a full-body effort from his toes all the way to his vocal chords, making him look like an overzealous terrier as he bounces from one end of Arizona State's practice field to the other alternating between enthusiasm and rage.

A new poll shows that more than a quarter of Gen Z investors see gambling on sports as part of "their long-term financial strategy" — and more than half say they have bet on sports at least once in the last year with money originally set aside for investing.
The online survey of 1,000 U.S. retail investors, which was published Tuesday by the personal finance platform Betterment, underscores a dramatic cultural and generational shift.
Sports betting has become ubiquitous since 2018, the year the Supreme Court struck down a longstanding federal ban on the practice. In 2025 alone, Americans wagered far more on sports — roughly $166 billion — than the U.S. movie, music, book and museum industries generated in revenue combined, according to Fortune. Sports betting now rakes in 42 times more revenue ($17 billion) than it did in 2018 ($400 million), according to some estimates.
Yet no other age group is nearly as likely as Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2007) to view sports gambling as an investment — rather than, say, a form of entertainment.
According to the Betterment survey, just 14% of millennials (born between 1981 and 1996), 6% of Gen Xers (born between 1965 and 1980) and 1% of baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1965) have made sports betting a deliberate, ongoing part of their financial plans — compared with 26% of Gen Zers.

UNCASVILLE, CT – Chamique Holdsclaw still remembers the phone call from legendary Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt after Candace Parker committed to Tennessee.
Summitt knew she had another generational talent on her hands just like she did with Holdsclaw a decade earlier.
"She called me and she said, 'We got this one, and this one, she's going to change the game,' " Holdsclaw said Aug. 14 ahead of her Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement.
And Parker did as a 6-foot-4 forward who could play any position, including point guard, forever changing the mold of versatility in the women's game as a big guard. But Parker grew up watching Holdsclaw do it first, and now they're in the same Naismith Hall of Fame class.

"She called me and she said, 'We got this one, and this one, she's going to change the game,' " Holdsclaw said Aug. 14 ahead of her Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement.
And Parker did as a 6-foot-4 forward who could play any position, including point guard, forever changing the mold of versatility in the women's game as a big guard. But Parker grew up watching Holdsclaw do it first, and now they're in the same Naismith Hall of Fame class.
The induction ceremony is Aug. 15 (7 p.m. ET, NBA TV) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats remain mixed over what ideological direction the party should take. But across a series of closely watched primaries, they are sending a clearer message about the party's path forward: They want change.
In marquee Senate primaries in Michigan and Minnesota, progressive candidates defeated two members of Congress with significant backing from party leaders. Wisconsin voters narrowly rejected a democratic socialist but still chose a 40-year-old county executive who is seeking to become the state's first Black governor. And in Connecticut, voters ousted one of the longest-serving Democrats in Congress for a challenger who campaigned on generational change.
The results so far this month deliver no clear ideological mandate. Instead, they add to mounting evidence from this year's primaries of an Democratic appetite for turnover that is cutting across the party's traditional divisions.
"If leaders in our party don't recognize that we need to make changes, then the changes are going to come from the ground up," Luke Bronin, a former mayor who defeated 14-term Connecticut Rep. John Larson in Tuesday's primary, said in his victory speech. "That's a message our party needs to hear."
The immediate challenge for Democrats is whether they can harness the frustration fueling revolts against their own party and turn it against Republicans in November. Beyond that looms the 2028 presidential race, when a new generation of leaders will compete to shape a changing Democratic Party.
