Ford Motor Company (F) is giving investors a fresh reason to revisit its electric vehicle (EV) strategy as the automaker prepares to launch the Fathom, an affordable electric pickup aimed squarely at the mass market. Ford reportedly wants to sell more than 100,000 Fathom trucks in its first year, a target that would put the model in rare company. That'd make it the first non-Tesla (TSLA) EV to cross the 100,000-unit mark for a single U.S. model in one year.
The Fathom is expected to start at $30,000, with customer orders opening in early 2027 and production beginning in the first quarter at Ford's Louisville, Kentucky, plant. Moreover, Ford is building the truck around a new Universal EV platform and a redesigned manufacturing process intended to dramatically lower costs. CEO Jim Farley has described the effort as a potential "Model T moment" for the company.

On May 22, the Federal Reserve entered a new era, with President Donald Trump's handpicked successor to Jerome Powell, Kevin Warsh, sworn in as the 17th Fed chair. It also marked a period of uncertainty amid this transition for the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI), S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC), and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC).
Warsh has wasted little time setting a new tone as head of the central bank. He's done away with forward-looking guidance in Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting statements and declared "the Fed's predominant focus right now should be on prices."

Though FOMC policymakers are bound to uphold the dual mandate of maximum employment and price stability, the latter is of far greater importance at the moment. Trailing 12-month inflation reached a three-year high of 4.2% in May, driven primarily by Trumpflation vis-à-vis tariffs and the Iran war.

OBDC cut its quarterly dividend from $0.37 to $0.31 as falling rates squeezed floating-rate loan income, making the 7% headline yield harder to trust.
NNN REIT extended its dividend growth streak to 37 consecutive years, while BTI dividends may qualify for the lower U.S.-UK tax treaty rate.
OBDC dropped ~10% over the past year and its NAV slipped to $14.26, proving that collecting dividends without selling shares doesn't protect principal.

The pitch behind an $860,000 portfolio paying $5,100 a month is a blended yield of roughly 7%. That is achievable today with three well-known income names in the right mix, but the word quietly in the headline does a lot of work. One of the three holdings just cut its base distribution, another trades at a share price that is down double digits over the past year, and the tax treatment across the sleeve varies enough to change what actually lands in your account. Here is the real version.

Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:AVGO, XETRA:1YD), the American chip designer behind custom AI processors for Google, Meta and OpenAI, delivered another quarter of results that beat Wall Street's expectations.
Yet its shares slipped 0.8% in after-hours trading, a sign that investors are growing warier of even strong AI-related earnings.
The muted reaction stemmed largely from Broadcom's fourth-quarter revenue forecast of $34.8 billion, which fell short of the $35.03 billion ******* ysts had pencilled in.
For a stock that has already lagged the wider market this year, up just 6% against the S&P 500's 12% gain, that miss carried extra weight.

The last 52 weeks have been characterized by significant volatility for CrowdStrike (CRWD) stock. CRWD stock touched lows of $85.68 in February 2026, with disruption risk from AI-native start-ups even as artificial intelligence boosted the outlook for the cybersecurity industry.
It, however, didn't take time for the narrative to change with the company's Falcon platform positioning itself as a one-stop shop for an array of security solutions (including cybersecurity for the cloud and artificial intelligence).

No company looms over the AI startup ecosystem like Nvidia. The $5.5 trillion chipmaker has backed a startup once every five days this year, participating in $266 billion worth of deals as of mid-August.
Don't expect the startup lovefest to change anytime soon.
Nvidia's earnings this week shed light on why Jensen Huang's behemoth cares about the littler guys, which is rooted in its experience backing AI labs. The company has invested nearly $50 billion to date in frontier labs, a sum that shockingly represents a "small fraction" of its free cash flow over the period, Huang said. In return, these AI labs are expected to contribute a quarter of Nvidia's business next fiscal year.

The London Company, an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for its "Small-Mid Cap Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. U.S. equities rebounded sharply in Q2, with the Russell 3000 gaining 15.4%, supported by AI infrastructure spending, strong earnings, and easing Middle East tensions. Technology led the rally as semiconductors recovered, while Energy and defensive sectors lagged. The portfolio returned 12.1% gross and 11.8% net compared with a 20.3% gain in the Russell 2500 Index. Stock selection weighed on relative performance, as high-beta and high-volatility stocks dominated returns while Quality remained weak, although results improved in June as market participation broadened. Looking ahead, resilient earnings and AI productivity support a constructive outlook, but negative hyperscaler cash flow, sticky inflation, geopolitical risks, index concentration, and elevated valuations warrant caution. The strategy continues to emphasize quality, downside protection, and active management. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could also highlight its best ideas for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, London Company SMID Cap Strategy highlighted Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) as a leading contributor. Headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) provides materials and process solutions for the semiconductor and other high-technology industries. On August 26, 2026, Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) closed at $142.46 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $21.77 billion. Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) posted a one‑month return of 22.74%, while its shares gained 71.40% over the past 52 weeks.
London Company SMID Cap Strategy stated the following regarding Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) was a top contributor, benefiting from improving semiconductor demand, accelerating AI investment, and rising fab utilization. Beyond the industry recovery, management outlined a clear path to structurally higher earnings through manufacturing optimization, improved working capital, and rebuilding the operating model over time. We remain attracted to ENTG's strong competitive position, high barriers to entry, and long runway for free cash flow expansion."
Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) is not on our list of the 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As per our database, 47 hedge fund portfolios held Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) at the end of the second quarter, the same as in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.

Eagle Capital Management, an investment management company, released its second quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, Eagle Capital Management discussed how enthusiasm around AI capital spending has driven strong S&P 500 earnings growth while also increasing risks from elevated valuations, concentrated demand, and aggressive investment **** umptions. Eagle remains a strong believer in AI but prefers constructing a portfolio that can perform across multiple outcomes rather than relying on one forecast. The firm believes current earnings can overstate underlying economics because semiconductor equipment is depreciated over several years, while free cash flow growth remains much weaker. It also expects competition and additional capacity across AI labs, hyperscalers, and semiconductors to eventually create winners and losers. These dynamics are encouraging Eagle to recycle capital toward attractive opportunities outside the most crowded AI trades while maintaining selective exposure to high quality beneficiaries. The portfolio trades at a 20% market discount with faster expected EPS growth. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for key selections.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Eagle Capital Management highlighted Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM). Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) manufactures, packages, tests, and sells integrated circuits and other semiconductor devices in Taiwan and internationally. On August 18, 2026, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) closed at $413.41 per share. The one-month return of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) was -0.99% and its shares gained 82.43% over the past 52 weeks. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) has a market capitalization of $1.95 trillion.
Eagle Capital Management stated the following regarding Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Half of our capital here is invested in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) and ASML, two of the most dominant businesses in the semiconductor supply chain. The other half is invested across the three major hyperscalers. We ascribe a portion of the value of each of these three companies to their cloud business and the balance to the remainder of the company; i.e., 60% of the value of Amazon is from AWS and 40% is from retail.
TSMC and ASML are two of the best businesses in the semiconductor industry. TSMC is the world's fab, where most leading-edge logic chips, ranging from Apple to NVIDIA, are made. Both companies are well positioned over the next 5-10 years to participate in the sector's secular growth while maintaining their competitive positions. That said, they will face pressures when the next downturn comes.

Okta (OKTA) stock has delivered one of the more striking moves in software this year. Its shares have climbed 93.8% over the past three months. That sharp re-rating has left the stock trading only 2.6% below its recent peak, even as investors continue to debate the durability of the next growth phase.
The latest spark came on Aug. 12, when Citizens JMP Securities upgraded Okta to "Market Outperform". With Okta scheduled to report fiscal second-quarter results after the close on Aug. 26, the upgrade lands at a moment when the market is especially focused on whether accelerating demand for securing AI agents can sustain the rally.

As of Aug. 3, Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) has delivered returns of around 180% over the last year. This occurred as the company became more competitive with market leader Nvidia in the AI accelerator ****** e.
Not surprisingly, those gains have brought much higher valuations, which likely was a factor in Cathie Wood's Ark Invest selling some of its AMD shares. Despite those sales, longer-term investors probably should not sell, and here's why.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Admittedly, the pullback might indicate it is a good time to sell for some shareholders. Investors tend to sell the news, and AMD's recent Advancing AI 2026 event had multiple announcements.
To that end, Ark Invest reduced its AMD holdings in July, and the $11.8 million sale on July 17 is merely a part of the $68.1 million in AMD stock that Ark Invest sold during that month. Investors should remember that Ark Invest is more of an active trader than a buy-and-hold investor, so the moves are also likely a measure of its investment approach.

GameStop (GME) was expected to accept eBay's (EBAY) "no" and move on. Instead, it has pushed harder. The company has lifted its stake in eBay, again, to nearly 10%, according to a recent SEC filing, after starting the year with about a 5% economic stake built through derivatives and direct share purchases.
That increase comes right after eBay's board rejected GameStop's roughly $55–56 billion offer, dismissing the bid as "neither credible nor attractive." They questioned how a much smaller company could finance the deal.

Fred Alger Management, an investment management company, released its "Alger Small Cap Focus Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. U.S. equities experienced a strong recovery in Q2 2026, with the S&P 500 Index gaining 15.2%, marking its best quarter since 2020. A ceasefire between the United States and Iran and accelerated investment in artificial intelligence (AI) fueled market optimism in the quarter, driving the Information Technology and Industrials sectors forward while Energy and Utilities lagged due to falling oil and gas prices. In June, the Federal Reserve maintained steady interest rates, but the meeting had a hawkish tone. As AI transitions into its agentic phase, opportunities are identified within sectors adopting the technology. The Alger Small Cap Focus Fund's Class A shares outperformed the Russell 2000 Growth Index in the quarter, driven by strong performances in the Industrials and Health Care sectors, while Financials and Consumer Discretionary detracted from the performance. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Alger Small Cap Focus Fund highlighted GeneDx Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:WGS). GeneDx Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:WGS) is a genomics company that offers advanced exome and genome sequencing for pediatric and rare disease diagnostics. On July 20, 2026, GeneDx Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:WGS) closed at $60.65 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $1.80 billion. GeneDx Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:WGS) posted a one-month return of 4.42%, while its shares lost 25.03% over the past 52 weeks.
Alger Small Cap Focus Fund stated the following regarding GeneDx Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:WGS) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"GeneDx Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:WGS) is a specialty genomics laboratory focused on delivering complex genetic tests, including whole exome and genome sequencing, to diagnose pediatric rare diseases. The company possesses a comprehensive and proprietary database of genetic data that enables it to deliver superior diagnostic yields relative to competitors and alternative testing modalities, creating a meaningful competitive advantage in a highly specialized market. Shares detracted from performance after first-quarter results missed revenue expectations on softer average reimbursement rates and weakness in non-core segments. While underlying exome and genome test volumes grew 33% year over year, management lowered full-year guidance, weighing on investor sentiment."

Silver (SI=F) September futures opened at $59.71 per ounce on Monday, July 13, 2026, 0.8% lower than Friday's closing price of $60.17. The price of silver fell even further this morning, reaching $58.60 by 8:33 a.m. ET.
The price of silver opened lower this morning and has continued to trend lower amid ongoing exchanges of attacks between the U.S. and Iran. While the U.S. claims the Strait of Hormuz is still open, Iran has stated that the strait is effectively closed.
As a result, oil and gas prices are moving higher yet again, putting tangible strains on American wallets at a time when the Fed has vowed to get inflation back under control. Controlling inflation could involve raising interest rates, or at least keeping them at current levels for longer, a notable headwind for silver prices.
The opening price of silver futures on Monday was down 0.8% compared to Friday's close. Here's how the opening silver price has changed versus last week, month, and year:
