Democrats secured control of the Senate on Tuesday, a seismic shift that effectively blocks President Trump's campaign to reshape the Federal Reserve and neutralizes what many ******* ysts viewed as a threat to the central bank's independence.
It also heightens the challenge for Trump should he maneuver to replace any sitting officials.
"Democrats' control of the Senate reclaims the party's ability to approve or deny the President's nominees for judges and heads of other executive branch agencies," Jonathan Pingle, an economist for UBS, wrote in a note. "That includes the need for Democrats to approve any new members of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System should one of the existing governors step aside."
That political firewall directly impacts the administration's ongoing effort to remove Fed governor Lisa Cook. Trump fired Cook in August 2025, claiming she committed mortgage fraud by making misrepresentations on loan documents years before her appointment to the central bank. Cook, a Biden appointee, has denied any wrongdoing and sued. The lawsuit has gone through multiple court rungs before reaching the Supreme Court earlier this year.
Last month, Trump established a committee to determine whether her statements constituted legal "cause" for removal from the central bank, signaling that his efforts to oust her are continuing.

AUBURN — A sudden addition to Auburn basketball's staff appears unlikely, at least for the time being, as head coach Steven Pearl addressed the firing of general manager Brian Kloman following the Tigers' 80-68 win in an exhibition against Samford on Thursday, Oct. 29, at Neville Arena.
Auburn's coaching staff is taking a by-committee approach to general manager duties, Pearl said. He did not provide a timeline for an eventual general manager hire, nor did he expressly state the program would look for someone to fill that role.
"As a staff, (we will) just kind of go through some of the things that Brian (Kloman) was doing and try and divvy up some of those responsibilities, and collectively as a group, work through those things together," Pearl said.

It's a critical win for the Seminoles (8-2-3) as the program currently sits just outside of the top six in the ACC standings. Those six programs make the ACC tournament. RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX) alone inked five separate Pentagon deals earlier this year to greatly boost output of Tomahawk cruise missiles, AMRAAM air-to-air missiles, and the Standard Missile family, with Tomahawk production expected to increase sixteenfold, from approximately 60 to 1,000 units per year.

Florida State is in search of a new athletic director after the university fired Michael Alford on Monday, Sep. 14, four years after he was hired.
The move was made by FSU president Richard McCullough, who said the Seminoles' athletic program needs to better position itself for the future of collegiate athletics. When he spoke with the media Monday morning, McCullough gave insight into what FSU is looking for in its next athletic director.
He placed a value on business acumen and cited the need for success in revenue generation, while also being savvy enough to navigate the complexities of modern collegiate sports, particularly football.

That's an area that McCullough highlighted as being important to the Seminoles next AD when speaking to the media after Alford's firing. ***** ey, named the 2025 National ***** ociation of Collegiate Directors of Athletics AD of the year, has overseen Boise State's transition from the Mountain West into the reimagined Pac-12, which would suit FSU and the university's potential interest in departing the ACC.

The rumors have already gotten to the point that there is now some buzz that Jimbo Fisher could reprise his role as the Seminoles' head coach if Norvell were to be let go.
While that may be the case, Florida State President Richard McCullough didn't provide much details about Norvell's position. When asked firing the athletic director means for the 44-year-old head coach's future with the program, McCullough claimed that FSU is simply focused on winning, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.
