Zinédine Zidane has been officially introduced today by French FA president Philippe Diallo as Didier Deschamps' successor in the dugout for Les Bleus.Zidane faced the media this morning at the French FA's Parisian headquarters alongside Diallo. The former Real Madrid head coach has penned a four-year contract with France.
Diallo has explained that he initiated contact with Zidane in February 2025, a couple of weeks after Deschamps made official his decision to step down as manager after the 2026 World Cup. Zidane started his remarks by sending a message of support to the firefighters battling massive forest fires in southwestern France as well as a congratulatory message to his predecessor, Deschamps.
Zidane went on to say, that during his five-year break from management, he turned down numerous proposals because he only had the France job on his mind. "I turned them all down for the French national team, because it's the only thing I wanted to do after my experience at Real Madrid. On Monday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that both starting wide receiver Alec Pierce (ankle) and projected starting rookie linebacker CJ Allen (calf) would begin training camp on PUP.
The former wasn't a surprise at all, as Pierce is expected to return later on in training camp from a purported minor cleanup surgery on his injured ankle earlier this offseason.
However, Allen's injury is a new one and came as a surprise, as he apparently aggravated his calf during a workout, although it's not expected to be a long-term injury by any means.
That being said, there's still one notable omission from the Colts' PUP list, as veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, who is still working his way back from a season-ending neck injury, isn't on it yet. While Buckner did not participate in earlier team organized workouts or veteran minicamp this offseason, it appears he may be physically cleared to participate in training camp—at least on a limited basis and/or pitch count early on.
However, it's possible that there may be a roster move regarding Buckner ahead, as he still may have some meaningful work left to do in his ongoing neck recovery.

Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn suffered a nightmare debut for San Jose Earthquakes as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat at home to Orlando City in their first match following Major League Soccer's break for the World Cup.
It was the 30-year-old's first game since his national side failed to qualify for the knockout stages following a 3-0 loss to Brazil in their final group game - and his first club game since coming on as a substitute in Nottingham Forest's 1-1 Premier League draw with Crystal Palace in February.

Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing Botafogo midfielder Danilo Santos this summer, according to the BBC. Man United want a new midfielder despite bringing both Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to the Old Trafford club. The Red Devils are now keeping tabs on Danilo, with Newcastle United also keen on bringing the former Nottingham Forest star back to the Premier League. The 25-year-old Brazil international made four appearances at the World Cup and Man United could do with his services as manager Michael Carrick eyes a specialist defensive midfielder.
Botafogo prefer to sell Danilo abroad after rejecting an offer of around £23 million, including bonuses from Verdao. The Man United target reportedly has a £17m clause for foreign clubs, which could be a big boost for the Red Devils and other European admirers. He played 50 Premier League games for the City Ground club before returning to Brazil in July 2025. Danilo has been impressing back home, with all his eight caps for Brazil thus far coming this year. His passing, relentlessness and the knack for being absolutely everywhere are some qualities of his which would come in handy at Man United.
The 6ft 2in midfielder is also physical, dynamic and technical, and he has what it takes to replace Casemiro at the Theatre of Dreams. Botafogo have also received offers of about £25m from Palmeiras and Zenit St Petersburg for Danilo, and more suitors could come calling. It is unknown whether Man United have plans to make a concrete move for him. They are exploring multiple options, including not signing another midfielder this summer, and fans will hope they make the right decisions.

The Gran Fondo Isle of Man returns this weekend with a new off-road format, marking the biggest change in the event's 10-year history.
Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the cycling festival has moved away from its traditional road route in favour of a multi-surface challenge featuring gravel tracks, green lanes, forest trails and historical railway lines.

Former Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig professional Xaver Schlager – a free agent since July 1st – has officially selected Nottingham Forest as his next station. The Austrian international will be reunited with newly appointed Forest head coach Oliver Glasner, under whom he worked for two seasons at Wolfsburg between 2019 and 2021.
Schlager departs German football having made 150 Bundesliga appearances over the course of the last seven seasons. During that time, he scored seven Bundesliga goals and earned 55 caps for his native country.
Schlager arrived in German football when Wolfsburg signed him from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2019. An ankle injury disrupted the first half of his debut campaign, but the Austrian soon established himself alongside Maximilian Arnold in central midfield. By August 2021, Schlager had already made 70 competitive appearances for die Wölfe and developed into one of the team’s most important midfielders.
His Wolfsburg rise was interrupted by a cruciate ligament rupture suffered against Leipzig early in the 2021/22 season. Schlager underwent surgery and remained sidelined until February 2022. He nevertheless returned strongly enough to earn a move to Leipzig, who paid approximately €12m for him that summer.
Schlager quickly became an important part of Marco Rose’s Leipzig midfield. He scored the winner against Werder Bremen in November 2022 as the German Red Bulls extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to 13 matches. His energetic pressing, physicality and willingness to contest virtually every midfield duel made him well suited to Rose’s football.

Xaver Schlager signed a two-year deal at Premier League club Nottingham Forest after the end of his RB Leipzig contract. The Austrian international will be coached by his compatriot Oliver Glasner as the ex-Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt boss took over at the two-time European Cup winners this summer.
Schlager played 150 Bundesliga games for VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig in the past seven seasons. He first met with Glasner during his time at Wolfsburg before his move to Leipzig for €12 million in 2022.
After suffering from a serious injury in the previous season, Schlager ended his RedBull Arena stay strongly as he helped them secure Champions League football. The 28-year-old featured in all four games for Austria at the World Cup as they were eliminated by the eventual champions Spain in the Round of 32.

RJ Moore, a four-star shooting guard in the 2027 class, has scheduled an official visit to Vanderbilt for September 10-13, he told Rivals.
The 6-foot-5 rising senior out of Ambassador Christian (NC) received an offer from the Commodores in June. He's also scheduled to take an official visit to Rutgers.
Moore is ranked as the No. 40 overall recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 8 ranked shooting guard, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).
In a previous interview with Rivals, RJ Moore discussed his thoughts on Vandy.
"They had a good year last year, they did really well. I like how Coach (Mark) Byington coaches them hard. Transfer windows thrive on the domino effect. One move triggers another, a sudden phone call reshapes two squads at once, and suddenly a frozen deal thaws out. Goodison Park might be about to benefit from exactly that kind of chain reaction. Tottenham full-back Djed Spence is firmly on the radar, and the key to unlocking his signature sits in north London.
According to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, via Transfer Feed, the whole situation hinges on Spurs completing a deal for Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams. Speak to Wyness, and the picture becomes clear. If that deal crosses the line, Spence gets the green light to head to Merseyside.
Wyness ran things at Goodison between 2004 and 2009. He understands the mechanics of these negotiations. Now running a football consultancy advising elite teams, he can see a transfer chain taking shape. He believes Spurs might change their mind about whether they even need to fill the position, and that Spence himself looks ready for a fresh start somewhere else.
Spurs want Williams. That is the catalyst. Wyness thinks that if that specific piece falls into place, Spence will arrive at Everton at some stage this summer. It makes perfect sense. Football is transactional. One comes in, another departs. Tottenham are playing hardball over the fee, though. Separate reports show they want at least £40m to let him walk. Spence is locked into a contract until June 2029, meaning Peter Carrington holds all the leverage. Everton will have to find serious cash to get Tottenham to the negotiating table.
David Moyes has a massive problem to solve. Seamus Coleman has departed. The right-back slot is empty, exposed, and glaringly vulnerable. Anyone watching the back line last season could see the gap. Spence offers something Moyes loves: Versatility. He can play on the right or slot into the left-back role. He gives options. Managers crave that flexibility during a tough Premier League campaign.

July 18 (Reuters) - Ontario Premier Doug Ford said U.S. criticism of Canadian efforts to stop the "terrible scenario" of spreading forest fires in his province and choking smoke across a broad swath of the ‌United States was "absolutely unacceptable."
"We're trying to get through this," Ford said on Saturday, adding that if the situation were reversed ‌and the U.S. were facing wildfires, "we're going to be down there to support our neighbors."
President Donald Trump blamed what he called incompetent Canadian forest management for the smoke and said on Friday he would add the "incalculable cost" of dealing with the pollution to existing tariffs on Canadian goods. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Ford's remarks.
Ford said at a press briefing that 655,000 hectares (1.6 million acres) of forest were burning across Ontario, Canada's most populous province.

PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP) was among Jim Cramer's stock calls on Mad Money, as he advised investors to stick with the largest tech companies in the market. Cramer commented on the company's earnings and management commentary, as he said:
This morning, PepsiCo reported a quarter that looked fine on the surface, but failed to wow when you got to the fine print. Meanwhile, the stock, once a market darling, has turned into an ugly duckling. On the conference call, management admitted that inflation and the price of gasoline caused domestic snack sales to fall. That led to a collapse in the stock… This quarter, I think some of the largest distributors had enough and demanded price rollbacks… It wouldn't shock me if Walmart forced PepsiCo's hand and demanded rollbacks…
I think it was the rollbacks in the traditional grocers plus the sticker shock of the convenience stores that made it so no matter what Pepsi did, it couldn't grow the business. Now, they've tried things to forestall this moment. I know they want to stick by their innovation playbook. I respect that. They're tremendous cost cutters too, but maybe they just have to take the darn hit and cut the price of their products big time, take a ton of market share, and then three quarters from now, they can have a much better return. I fear, as others do, that this is the beginning of a slow rollback in pricing. I say rip the band-aid off. Go back to prices from 10 years ago before the endless increases and get realistic.
You raise prices too much, too often for a country that's now weight-obsessed, health-obsessed, and GLP-1 obsessed, and you're just not going to make as much money for a bag as you'd like to. Now, PepsiCo gets about half of its sales from overseas, and that business is terrific. They need to make international much bigger to lessen the impact of Frito-Lay's domestic pain. Here's the bottom line: I fear now that only drastic pricing can reverse a domestic dive, something, by the way, the CEO Ramon Laguarta disagreed with when we interviewed him on Squawk on the Street. In truth, I thought Ramon wasn't really disagreeing with me. I think he was subtly disagreeing with the action in the stock, and that's actually not that great an idea when you're running a publicly traded company.

We’re staying on the offensive side of the ball this week, but we’re moving to a position that needs to see a lot of improvement this season if the team wants to be successful. The Vikings were not a great rushing team in 2025, and the running back group as a whole had a fairly down year. We want to know who you think is going to have the most touches. . .that’s carries and receptions combined. . .among the team’s running back corps in 2026.
There’s Aaron Jones, who’s coming back for a third season with the Vikings. Jones battled injuries last season and will turn 32 this season. His 548 rushing yards in 2025 were the fewest he’s had since his rookie season, and he missed five games last year with various injuries. Jordan Mason, who led the Vikings in rushing last year, appeared in 16 of the team’s 17 games, and while he provided some power in the run game, he didn’t show much as far as pass catching is concerned (just 14 receptions for 51 yards).
Zavier Scott, who spent much of last season as the #3 back, showed some flashes, but likely isn’t being counted on for a whole lot. In the Draft, the team added Demond Claiborne out of Wake Forest, who is a bit undersized but could, potentially, be the sort of dual-threat back the team has lacked since Dalvin Cook left town. To be clear, I’m not saying Claiborne is Dalvin Cook, but in college, he showed big-play ability in both the run game and the pass game.

Andoni Iraola doesn’t even know what his squad will look like and the Premier League season kicks off in a month. Liverpool have been slow to rebuild after losing a few key players and it’s incredibly unclear who will stick around.
One player with an unbelievably uncertain future is Curtis Jones. The Scouser nearly joined Inter back in January and has just one year remaining on his contract.
It’s opened the door to a sale and reports in Italy have suggested talks between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest - possibly even an agreement - as well as Inter. Everything, it should be said, has pointed to Jones leaving the club for a cut-price fee.
That would feel like a disaster. Jones is the local lad in the team and one who is a fantastic academy success story. Letting him go on the cheap would be an awful decision and yet Liverpool are rapidly heading in that direction.

North Carolina finished 4-8, only beating two Power Four programs in Syracuse and Stanford. Gio Lopez arrived from South Alabama, giving the Tar Heels a dual-threat quarterback that so many programs covet, but he largely struggled.
Now projected to start for Wake Forest, Lopez will likely run into UNC again at the ACC Kickoff in Charlotte later this week.
Wake Forest takes the podium from 1-1:30 p.m., with Lopez joining new teammates Langston Hardy and Davaughn Patterson. Right after the Deacs? Belichick plus North Carolina players Melkart Abou-Jaoude, Christo Kelly and Jordan Shipp.
Lopez only completed four of 10 passes for 69 yards and an interception in his Tar Heel debut, a 48-14 blowout loss to TCU on Labor Day in Kenan Stadium. Lopez responded with a stronger second half of his lone season in Carolina Blue, compiling five consecutive games with 200 passing yards, but never became the consistent difference-maker UNC envisioned.

July 12 - Minnesota Governor Tim Walz mobilized state National Guard troops ‌on Sunday to battle wildfires on ‌the state's northern border with Canada.
The fires have covered more than 800 acres in five days and are yet to be contained, according to a Minnesota state website. They are among the latest ‌in a swath ⁠of fires that have raged across the United States due to hot, ⁠dry conditions driven by an El Nino weather pattern across the continent.
"I've declared a peacetime emergency and mobilized the National Guard to ***** ist with ‌wildfire response in northern Minnesota," said Walz, a Democrat. "Minnesotans extend our deepest gratitude to all of the first responders working around the clock to keep their neighbors safe."
A total of 16 ‌fires are burning in the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota, which normally attracts about 150,000 visitors in ‌the summer. Park rangers have been escorting visitors out of the park over the weekend, according to the Minnesota Natural Resources Department website.
