Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson said Friday that President Trump should be removed from office if he is considering using nuclear weapons first, saying even entertaining the possibility should disqualify a president from serving.
"The second any president actively considers the first use of nuclear weapons, that person should be removed from office immediately, because that's got to be the red line, destroying all of humanity with a nuclear strike," Carlson said.
Carlson made the comments during a conversation with Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center who resigned earlier this year in opposition to the war with Iran.
Carlson, who noted that he strongly opposed both efforts to impeach Trump during his first term, questioned why the same standard would not apply if a president were weighing a nuclear first strike.
"Why isn't there an attempt to remove him from office, like, immediately?" Carlson said. "Anyone who would even tolerate that kind of talk from any of his subordinates or employees is by definition unfit."

On Monday, the New Orleans Saints announced that they had signed free agent Daniel Carlson at kicker. Carlson was added to hopefully stabilize the New Orleans kicking situation. Charlie Smyth and Tanner Brown had both had their struggles through training camp and preseason for the Saints.

Saturday's Red-Blue intrasquad scrimmage showed some of the promise of the 2026 Arizona Wildcats and answered some of the questions, but there were still some left open when the Red team emerged victorious in four sets (20-25, 27-25, 25-18, 15-10).
Red was superior in kills (56-35), hitting percentage (.181 to .109), and blocking (10.0 to 5.0). Both teams had four aces, but they struggled overall on serve.
The initial team lineups were made to be as competitive as possible. Neither team was dominated by presumed starters or returners from last year's team. After the second set, the roster was shaken up where more of the returners and presumed starters were stacked on the Blue team, but that didn't slow down the Red squad.
The Blue team started with Carlie Cisneros and Payton Woods at outside hitter, Britt Carlson at opposite, Journey Tucker and Maya Flemister at middle blocker, Harmony Sample setting, and Brenna Ginder at libero.

Tucker Carlson admitted to feeling regret for going after Hunter Biden on his shows for years.
In a two-hour conversation with Joe Biden's son on "The Tucker Carlson Show," the host reflected on the finger-pointing he did on his show on more than one occasion. In particular, Carlson felt badly for repeatedly calling out Biden while the former first son was struggling with addiction, saying "finger-pointing is unhelpful, except when we point fingers at ourselves."
"It's very important to say — that's kind of what I was inarticulately trying to express to you, which is like, it gets the rest of us off the hook to point to one guy and be like, 'It's all his fault. It's like actually, it's all of our fault, including mine,'" Carlson said. "And I, you know, famously advocated for the Iraq War, and thought that was the last stupid thing I was ever going to do. Turns out it wasn't. I advocated for all kinds of things that I now regret advocating for."
Biden jumped in to quip: "Particularly the things that you said about me."
"Deep regret," Carlson responded. "No, I do actually. I mean, I regret in the sense that, as someone who has dealt with addiction, not quite as in an exciting way as you did, but I've been there for sure. You know, extending grace to people who are out of their minds. You would think I would do that. I should have done that more. I do regret that."

After getting drafted first overall in last month's MLB Draft, new Chicago White Sox shortstop and former UCLA Bruin Roch Cholowsky homered for the first time with the team, going deep in a Complex League game for the White Sox.
The expectations are sky-high for Cholowsky, who was viewed as the draft's No. 1 prospect throughout the 2026 college baseball season. Baseball America shares that optimism, ranking Cholowsky as the White Sox's No. 1 prospect and having Cholowsky as the No. 5 prospect in the entire sport.
Cholowsky is a known commodity, being a two-time finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and hitting .329 over his 178 game career. Cholowsky slugged 52 home runs and drove in 167 runs as a Bruin.
The real question is how the White Sox will use Cholowsky. Cholowsky is a capable enough defender to stick at shortstop long-term but Chicago is seeing 24-year old Colson Montgomery have a bit of a breakout season at shortstop. Montgomery is tied for ninth in the majors with 25 home runs even if he's batting just .215 on the season.

In the aftermath of a 3-0 win over the Rangers on Wednesday evening, Ryan Vilade said he did not want to face Bryan Baker. The Rays' infielder/outfielder shares a clubhouse with the righthanded closer, so stepping into the batter's box against Baker is not a concern. For Rays' opponents, facing Baker has been a nightmare in 2026.
"To see 'Big Bake' running in from the bullpen with the lights (flashing on and off) and (music) playing, it gets everyone fired up," said Vilade, whose exceptional work (9 HR, 35 RBI, .804 OPS) in a part-time role has often aided the Rays in getting to their closer. "I'm glad he's on our team and whenever we get to the ninth with him on the ***** p, we feel pretty good."
For good reason. The 6-foot-6 Baker nailed down his 30th save of the season Thursday afternoon in the series finale with Texas to tie with Cleveland's Cade Smith for the MLB lead. The 31-year-old heads into a weekend series versus the visiting White Sox having converted 19 straight save opportunities, a stretch that began May 17. During that span, which totals 24 appearances, Baker has allowed one run. That was a solo homer to Kansas City's Josh Rojas on June 24, an outing in which Baker shrugged it off to record his 20th save.
"I have been feeding off the catchers and going for what they see and what they've kind of seen the whole game and let the defenders work behind me," said Baker, when asked about the run he is on. "It's been a lot more (pitching to) contact lately, which as long as there's zeros are on board, I'm good."

The Las Vegas Raiders are set to start training camp within the next month, and as they gear up for an interesting 2026 season, a few players and/or position groups can really make or break the season. The Raiders added a plethora of talent over the last off-season, with the Raiders likely to only return starters at left & right tackle, tight end, runningback, and one wide receiver on offense. Defensively, they likely return 3 starers on the defensive line, one at safety, one at corner, and none at linebacker. Needless, to say the Raiders are turning over the roster with talent, and for a roster that has been void of young talent in previous years, that was crucial. Additionally, they see three or four of their special teams playmakers likely change hands with Daniel Carlson and Jacob Bobenmoyer out, while new kick and punt returners should take the helm as well.

The Raiders parted ways with Daniel Carlson after 8 seasons, and Carlson saw his FG rate fall steadily since 2020 going from 94.3% to 81.5% in 2025. Additionally, his abilities to hit from 50+ also fell down the board competing just 5 of 8 in 2025 after 8 of 11 in 2024, and 11 of 13 in 2022. The Raiders bring in two options, with veteran Matt Gay looking to rebound his career under DeCamillis, and rookie Kansei Matsuzawa dubbed the "Tokyo Toe, and Special-K". Gay converted 17 of his 23 attempts (74%) in 2025 though he was 4/4 in 2 games with the 49ers. He's struggled to regain his form from 2021-2022 where he 2as a Pro Bowler converting 60/64 field goals including 12/14 from 50+. Those two seasons came under new Raiders special teams coordinator, Joe DeCamillis.
As for Matsuzawa, the 2025 consensus All-American went 39/45 in his Hawaii career and another 72/72 on his PAT's. Matsuzawa is relatively new to kicking, having only done so for 5 years now, and he's not been tested from 50+ routinely which will be a big test in the NFL. Matsuzawa has the leg, and he's shown elite accuracy, but also kicking in the NFL comes with it's own challenges. The Raiders have seen their ability, and confidence, to hit field goals dip the last two seasons which has impacted not just their scores, record, but also playcalling. Las Vegas needs to be consistent at kicker to help ease pressure on the offense, and open up Klint Kubiak's playbook.

Alas, the Bolts expired in the first round of the playoff derby each year, an empty-feeling stretch following a memorable run to three straight final rounds and a pair of Cups.
Indeed, work needed to be done and as Wednesday melted into Thursday it was known that John Carlson was on his way to 401 Channelside Drive. The signing (two years, $8.5 million per) of the 36-year-old defenseman followed agreeing to terms with a pair of forwards earlier in the day: 31-year-old Ilya Mikheyev (four years, $3.85 AAV) and 29-year-old Jeffrey Viel (five years, $2.5 AAV).
BriseBois also dealt forward Nick Paul to Toronto for 24-year-old goaltender Dennis Hildeby and draft picks each of the next two years. While battling the injury bug last season and recording a minus-15 in 51 games, it was evident Paul’s role was decreasing. Happy free agency to all who celebrate! NHL Free Agency 2026 opens at 12 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 1 — and what’s really marked this year’s group is far less about the players available to be signed as unrestricted free agents, and more related to the anarchy that could ensue with established talent.
If you’ve been following along, we already know that this 2026 class of UFAs is fairly weak. Teams worked to get ahead of the best players leaving, either locking them up to long-term deals or trading them around the draft to teams that subsequently got contracts done themselves. This also means that players who didn’t get dealt already are now causing major waves, operating as the dominoes people are waiting to fall before other signings take place. The players we’re really waiting on right now are:
Jason Robertson, LW — Dallas Stars: Robertson is an RFA, but has already informed multiple teams that he won’t sign contracts with them, killing multiple trades. Where Robertson ends up will start the dominoes at forward

It had been a long day. Some teams were using all of their allotted time, even in the later rounds to make their draft decisions. Then came Carolina, and time had expired while the world waited for them to make pick number 192 in the Draft.
What happened?
Eric Tulsky and company smacked everyone in the face with another shocking trade announcement. The Hurricanes traded their final pick, along with Kyle Masters, (leant to Greensboro last season), to Anaheim for the rights to John Carlson. Yes, that John Carlson.
Carlson will be a Free Agent come July 1st, so the Canes have three days to sign the defenseman. It won’t be easy.
While the blueliner is a bit long in the tooth at 36 years old, he had 14 goals and 60 points last season in 71 games playing for both the Capitals and the Ducks. He averaged playing over 23 minutes a game and he is going to be highly sought after if he makes it to free agency.

The two-day event kicked off with a prime-time first round on Friday night at KeyBank Center — making Buffalo the first city to host the draft in its new decentralized format — before concluding with Rounds 2 through 7 on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the class was exceptional-status forward Gavin McKenna, who was selected No. 1 overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs, followed by Anton Stenberg to the San Jose Sharks at No. 2 and Caleb Malhotra to the Vancouver Canucks at No. 3.
On Saturday afternoon, Rounds 2 through 7 of the draft came and went in Buffalo, with 192 players selected through the afternoon. Whether international players, ones in the American leagues, or amateurs prepping for the collegiate level, teams picked up valuable pieces to add to their prospect pools.
One of the most fascinating storylines of the weekend came from the Pittsburgh Penguins, who kept an incredible family dream alive by drafting twin brothers Liam and Markus Ruck. GM Kyle Dubas selected Liam, a goal-scoring winger, at No. 22 overall on Friday, before calling his twin brother and elite playmaker, Markus, at No. 39 on Saturday. The dynamic duo finished top-two in WHL scoring with Medicine Hat last season and will now head to the pros together.
But the draft wasn’t just about picks. There were some major trades.
The Boston Bruins traded the No. 23 overall pick and a 2028 first-round pick (top-10 protected) to acquire winger JJ Peterka from the Utah Mammoth. Around the NHL, the New York Rangers acquired Pavel Dorofeyev, the St. Louis Blues traded for Mason McTavish, and the Carolina Hurricanes picked up the rights to John Carlson.
As eyes shift towards free agency on July 1, franchises will walk away from the KeyBank Center pleased with how they bolstered their futures. Soon enough, some of these players will be the future of the NHL.

When the NHL draft lottery determined the Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks were the Nos. 1 and 2 picks, respectively, the NHL world recognized the Vancouver Canucks as the biggest losers. But the team just behind the Canucks in the order — the Chicago Blackhawks — were similarly left in the cold at No. 4.
Chicago made the stunning move to ship that pick to the Sabres for Bowen Byram, a free agent after the 2026-27 season, in a package that also involves the No. 45 overall pick and Louis Crevier being sent to Buffalo while the Blackhawks absorb Jordan Greenway. It's the first time since 2008 a team has shipped off a known top-five pick, making it a wildly risky move for Chicago.

So why would the Blackhawks take such a desperate swing? The answer is that GM Kyle Davidson is, in a word, desperate. In the current iteration of the NHL postseason, it can be extremely easy to find yourself in purgatory. Teams can scratch and claw their ways to competing for a playoff spot until late February to early March, come up short of the playoffs after a push, and retool in the next offseason.
Retooling, however, isn't an option in this offseason. The free agent class is barren, with Rasmus Andersson and John Carlson likely set to get big contracts as the best defensemen available. And the Blackhawks have a former No. 1 overall pick in Connor Bedard that they have to build around now. Bedard is a restricted free agent, which means Chicago has exclusive negotiating rights with the 20-year-old budding star. But with the Blackhawks in a six-year playoff dearth, and an eight-year drought leaving out the shortened 2019-20 season, the trade for Byram is a swing made out of necessity verging into recklessness.

Longtime conservative commentator Tucker Carlson said on a podcast that "there's no chance I would support the Republican Party" ahead of the November midterm elections, dismissing the political affiliation he's defended as a pundit for decades, including as one of Fox News Channel's most popular hosts.
"Not gonna support the Democratic Party," Carlson was quick to add, speaking late last week on the show "Can't Be Censored." "I don't know what I'm going to do."
Carlson, who has amassed a large following on his own podcast since being fired from Fox News in 2023, has more recently diverged from the party, a disillusionment supercharged by President Donald Trump's decision to go to war with Iran in February.
Carlson supported Trump in 2024. After the war began, he apologized for supporting the then-presidential candidate and "misleading people," saying it wasn't intentional.
He's repeatedly criticized the war as being at the behest of Israel at the expense of Americans, and attacked the party for failing to represent its own voters, citizens and nation.

The Wisconsin Badgers became the first school to offer 2028 Minnesota guard KJ Wilson after he camped with the program earlier this week.
Wilson hails from the talented D1 Minnesota AAU program that has fielded talents such as Steven Crowl, Tyler Wahl, Jack Janicki, Nate Reuvers, and Ben Carlson in recent years. The Badgers have been plucking talent from the program in the 2027 class as well, landing a commitment from center Jack Thelen earlier this month.
Wisconsin is also well in with four-star target Baboucarr Ann, who would be ranked as the Badgers’ best player if he commits to the 2027 class.
Wilson competed in the Adidas 3SSB circuit back in late April, and 247Sports’s Eric Bossi had this to say about the lead guard’s performance.
“The leading scorer in the 16U division, Wilson has tremendous quickness, good length and can find ways to generate buckets in even the tightest of windows,” Bossi wrote. “He compensates for a general lack of strength with his scoring savvy but does have a nice frame to grow into down the road so we aren’t too concerned about any strength issues long term. He got into the paint, he made a lot of jumpers from deep and showed off plenty of playmaking ability for others. We’re looking forward to checking him out more this spring and summer.”
