On the eve of the San Marino Grand Prix, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider confirmed he will leave MotoGP at the end of 2026, but ruled out a rumored move to the World Superbike Championship. Instead, Rins will step away from two-wheeled competition entirely and pursue a project on four wheels instead.
The rumors had been building at Magny-Cours, and Rins cleared them up himself during Thursday's media scrum at Misano. Discussions with Go Eleven reportedly fell through, and rather than chase a Plan B in WSBK racing, the 30-year-old Spaniard went a different direction entirely.
"I will not go to Superbike next year," Rins said. "I had two possibilities there. I really want to say thanks to them because they were quite interested in me. But I found another thing that really motivates me more." He added that he can't reveal the new project yet because negotiations are still on-going but hinted that it would be on four wheels instead of two.
"I'm really happy. For sure it was difficult to choose, because all my life in MotoGP, in this championship, many fights, many races, many wins," says Rins. "14 years, more or less. So yeah, I will stop with two wheels."
Rins didn't slam the door completely on bikes. He floated the idea of a limited return in the vein of Cal Crutchlow.

After the Duke of Sussex moved back to the U.K. with wife Meghan Markle and their two children, a source told journalist Rob Shuter for a Thursday, September 10, report on his Naughty But Nice Substack that Harry is in need of "action."
"The goal is simple: make Harry the Tom Cruise of princes," the source said.
It shouldn't come as a surprise, given that the 41-year-old's wife is apparently looking to get back to acting. Rumors began swirling that the former Suits star, 45, was in talks to join Guy Ritchie's Netflix show, The Gentlemen, which films in England (though star Theo James seemed to squash the chatter).

Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood struggled heavily in the first game of the season agaisnt Western Michigan. This has led to speculation that Underwood is potentially fighting for his job.
While much of the college football media is focused on the Hail Mary against Western Michigan, the storyline of the Oklahoma game will be the play of Underwood, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
"Despite the Week 1 highlight-reel Hail Mary that pulled off the win, Underwood's performance has been scrutinized in the ensuing days. He finished 12 of 22 for 170 yards with an interception. The Michigan offense sputtered after a 75-yard opening drive," Nakos wrote. "Sources have told On3 that Underwood had a strong end of fall camp, putting together some of his best practices yet as a Wolverine. That didn't show Saturday, but as sources pointed out, it was his first game with new offensive coordinator Jason Beck. The 19-year-old quarterback is working on building up confidence in the new system."
