Noni Madueke made the difference for ***** nal as his deflected effort helped the Gunners secure a hard fought victory over Nottingham Forest in a difficult Premier League match. The result earned ***** nal three important points as they continue their battle for the ***** le against Manchester City.
Arsenal know they cannot afford to fall six points behind City, who have started the campaign in impressive fashion. The Manchester club have performed better than many expected and could maintain their winning run, leaving the Gunners under pressure to keep pace with their rivals.
The City Ground is a difficult venue for visiting teams, with Nottingham Forest having a reputation for making life uncomfortable for their opponents. ***** nal were well aware of the challenge before kick-off, particularly after failing to score on their previous two visits to Forest.
That record offered a warning of what could happen, and the match proved challenging for Mikel Arteta's side. Forest made the contest difficult, using direct play and aerial ***** to disrupt ***** nal and prevent them from finding their rhythm.
However, the Gunners continued to search for a breakthrough and eventually found one through Madueke. His deflected shot provided the decisive moment, allowing ***** nal to leave Nottingham with all three points and avoid dropping valuable ground in the ***** le race.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has praised his side's response to their pre-international break humbling at Brighton.
The Gunners were ripped apart by the vibrant Seagulls at the end of September and had to stew on the defeat for three weeks as players went away to their national teams.
But they made it three wins from three after the restart as Noni Madueke's late goal earned a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
And Raya, whose side face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, hailed the reaction as "incredible".
"We came back very, very strong, especially after that tough defeat against Brighton and having 19 days since then to play a game," he told the club website.

Arsenal travelled to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, knowing they had failed to win there in their previous two visits. The Gunners were aware of the challenge awaiting them, especially with Forest determined to avoid defeat against them once again.
Although Forest have a new manager, their determination to frustrate **** nal remained clear. Mikel Arteta's side are competing with a strong Manchester City team in the Premier League **** le race, making every match crucial as they look to win the competition again.
Arsenal knew they needed three points to keep pace with City, but securing the victory proved difficult. Forest looked dangerous, particularly in attack, and the Gunners struggled to impose themselves as they would have wanted.
Given the hosts' performance, **** nal might have considered themselves fortunate to escape with another goalless draw. However, Noni Madueke found the breakthrough late in the game, scoring with a deflected effort to secure a vital win for the visitors.
The goal provided **** nal with a valuable result at a ground where they had struggled in recent seasons. It also highlighted the importance of persistence in a match where clear opportunities were difficult to create.

Mikel Arteta hailed "special character" Noni Madueke after he fired ***** nal to a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
Madueke came on at half-time and his deflected effort 10 minutes from time was enough for the three points at the City Ground.
The 24-year-old was left out of Thomas Tuchel's most recent England squad but has produced an impressive response.
"Noni, look at me, a smile on my face because he's a special character," Arteta said. "He's someone very much loved in and around the dressing room, the way he connects, talks to people.
"He's just a special guy. I think I saw an interview where they were asking a few of our players, 'Who would you call if you have a problem?' And some of them said Noni, which I was surprised (by).

Modern football is a game of two parts: the first hour or so, dictated by carefully curated gameplans and training ground patterns; and the final half-hour when a flurry of substitutes come on, rigid structures fade away and a match opens at the seams. ***** nal were dire for most of this game at the City Ground, shut out by Nottingham Forest's red wall. But yet again the power of Mikel Arteta's "finishers" decided a match.
Noni Madueke was sent on at half-time for Eberechi Eze, who had been statuesque at his station on the left touchline, which, in fairness, is not his position. With the clock ticking towards 80 minutes, Madueke did what Eze hadn't and drove at Forest's defence before unleashing a shot, which took a fortunate deflection off Jair Cunha on its way past the helpless Matz Sels. It went down as ***** nal's only shot on target, and in truth it might have been curling wide.
This was the third game in a row in which Arteta rang the changes in the second half as his team struggled to click, after Leeds last weekend and Lille in midweek. Once again he made a triple substitution on 65 minutes, sending on Jurrien Timber, Mikel Merino and Viktor Gyokeres, and once again a stubborn defence was worn down in the final stages. No Premier League side has generated more goals and ***** ists from the bench since the start of last season.
Noni Madueke scored the only goal of the game (Reuters)
Forest were excellent in their determination to blunt ***** nal's attack. Like Eze, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka had little joy, and Oliver Glasner took positives from a performance of cohesion and spirit. Liam Delap was a brilliant nuisance in attack and could have equalised in the final minutes but for Ezri Konsa's last-ditch block. Murillo nearly scored the goal of the season, dribbling in from the left touchline before curling just over the bar with one of the last kicks. But Forest remain third from bottom after a third successive defeat, and their wait for a first home goal of the season goes on.

Well folks, it's that time again. August is here and so begins ******* nal's slate of preseason matches. Today, the Gunners face Girona to cap off a week of training in Spain. They take on Real Betis (and Hector Bellerin) in Dublin on Wednesday, August 5th, Dortmund next Sunday in the Emirates Cup, and Como on August 12th before the Community Shield on August 16th. The Premier League season kicks off in less than three weeks — the 21st home to newly promoted Coventry.
Arsenal – Kepa, White, Mosquera, Hincapie, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly, Havertz, Nwaneri, Dowman, Tzolis, Gyokeres
Everyone should be prepared to overreact wildly to a lineup several players off the first XI. Because that's what you do in the preseason, after all. None of Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes, Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice, Ebere Eze, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, David Raya, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, nor William Saliba are in today's squad.
The Brazilians rejoined the team in the last day or two. Gabriel Martinelli got married a few days ago in Greece but is back with the squad. Martin Ødegaard is due back next week. The England players after that and the Spanish contingent last of all. William Saliba will miss a fair bit of time recovering from the back injury he played through at the end of the season and during the World Cup.
The Gunners are also expected to do a fair bit of business before the start of the season. A move for Bruno Guimaraes seems close. The rumors are swirling around a massive move for Vini Jr. The club intends to sign a CB to cover during Saliba's absence. They may also sign a right back — Jurrien Timber is still recovering from the groin problem that kept him out of the World Cup.

Noni Madueke is ramping up preparations for his first full pre-season with **** nal.
According to Simon Collings, the 23-year-old winger, who joined **** nal for an initial £48.5m last summer, is heading to Dubai for the second phase of his summer break, combining warm-weather relaxation with an intensive personal conditioning programme before reporting for club duty.
Madueke was granted an extended summer break following his participation at the 2026 World Cup, where he helped England secure a third-place finish in the United States.
Rather than easing back into action, Madueke has chosen to dedicate the final part of his break to high-intensity preparation in the Middle East.
Dubai has long been a favoured destination for Premier League stars seeking elite personal training during the off-season.

Morgan Rogers is set to start for England in their colossal World Cup semi-final against Argentina in Atlanta tonight.
The Aston Villa midfielder, 23, has started just once so far the tournament, in the final group game against Panama, but impressed off the bench against Norway in the quarter-finals.
He is set to play on England's right, taking the place of Noni Madueke, which means Bukayo Saka once again starts on the bench.

There are few players in the England and **** nal squads who receive as much criticism as Noni Madueke, but the attacker continues to push forward despite the attention surrounding him.
When he was close to joining **** nal, some supporters launched an online petition in an attempt to prevent the club from signing him during the previous transfer window. Despite that reaction, Madueke completed his move to the Emirates Stadium after Mikel Arteta decided that he was the right player for his squad.
The forward went on to help **** nal win the **** le during his first season at the club, demonstrating that he could make a positive contribution despite the doubts expressed by some fans.
Thomas Tuchel has also shown confidence in the England international by selecting him during the World Cup, while Bukayo Saka has been working his way back to full fitness. Saka remains widely regarded as the stronger player, and it would be difficult to argue against that **** sment based on his performances.
However, Madueke's qualities should not be overlooked. The former PSV player offers different attributes and has shown that he can provide a direct attacking threat when given opportunities to contribute.

Arsenal has been one of the biggest contributors to the England national team over the years. The club's academy has consistently produced talented players for the national youth sides, and that tradition has continued at senior level with several Gunners representing their country on the biggest stage.
England's current World Cup squad includes four ***** nal players, underlining the club's continued importance to the national team. Thomas Tuchel selected Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Declan Rice for the tournament in North America, and each has played a part in England's campaign.
Rice and Madueke have been among the regular starters throughout the competition, helping England reach the World Cup semi-final. Their contributions, alongside those of Saka and Eze, have ensured ***** nal continue to be strongly represented in the national team.
England has overcome several difficult challenges to remain in the tournament and now stands within touching distance of lifting the trophy. Every additional match provides ***** nal's representatives with another opportunity to contribute while also adding to their international appearance totals.
According to ***** nal Media, the appearances of Eze, Saka, Madueke and Rice against Norway have taken ***** nal's combined total to more than 1,000 England caps. The report highlights another significant achievement in the club's long history of producing players for the national team.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is being isolated from England teammates after he got sick, according to the Daily Mail. The Gunners star played through the injury barrier for the Emirates Stadium last term and is currently suffering with a hamstring and lower back issue. Rice is set to report late for pre-season with ******* nal due to his World Cup engagement, and manager Mikel Arteta will hope the North London club can hit the ground running next season. The England international has recently gone down with a bug, and FA officials have taken steps to isolate him from the main group.
It is an attempt to contain what could be a potentially damaging outbreak as the Three Lions prepare to take on Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday. Rice has missed two days of training in a row due to the sickness. It remains to be seen whether he will be available to feature against Norway but those in the England camp are confident the illness has been contained. ******* nal will begin their summer preparation in Girona on August 1 and are set to be without Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. Players involved in the World Cup will begin a three-week holiday after they get eliminated from the competition. As a result, the Gunners quartet will not be available for their club’s opening game of pre-season and will almost certainly miss the second pre-season game on August 5 in Dublin against Real Betis if England advance to the semi-finals.

The FIFA World Cup quarter-final line-up is beginning to take shape, and ***** nal remain well represented as the knockout stages continue.
Sunday’s Round of 16 action saw England and Norway book their places in the last eight, ensuring that several Gunners remain firmly in the hunt for international glory. William Saliba confirmed his place with France at the quarter-finals the previous evening. It also confirmed the end of the road for two ***** nal stars, while there is still plenty to play for as Spain and Belgium prepare to take to the field.
England edged past Mexico in an entertaining 3-2 victory to secure their place in the quarter-finals, with four ***** nal players progressing.
Declan Rice completed the full match in midfield, while Bukayo Saka started and provided the ***** ist for Harry Kane’s goal before being substituted during the second half. Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke are also safely through to the last eight as England continue their bid for World Cup success.
Awaiting them in the quarter-finals will be Norway, setting up an intriguing meeting between ***** nal teammates.

Axel Tuanzebe has urged more English-raised footballers to represent their countries of origin to raise the level of African football.
Tuanzebe was part of the DR Congo side eliminated byEngland in the 2026 World Cup last 32 on Wednesday evening. The 28-year-old was born in DR Congo but relocated to England at a young age.
The centre-back represented England at youth level, before pledging his international allegiance to his birth country in 2024. This summer, he has formed part of a DR Congo side that has reached theWorld Cup knockout rounds for the first time.
He urged other English-raised footballers to consider representing African nations at international level.
England internationals Marc Guehi (Ivory Coast) and Trevoh Chalobah (Sierre Leone) with were both born in Africa, while teammates Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Ezri Konsa and Kobbie Mainoo were all eligible to represent African nations alongside the Three Lions.

Harry Kane's superb nine-minute brace rescued England from a shock World Cup exit at the round of 32 stage and ******* ed a 2-1 comeback win over DR Congo in Atlanta.
Brian Cipenga gave the Congolese a shock lead seven minutes in, before Harry Kane spared the Three Lions' blushes heading home the equalizer before rifling home a fantastic finish into the top right corner with four minutes to go.
Thomas Tuchel's men were superior for most of the game, and had it not been for Lionel Mpasi-Nsau's efforts the scoreline could've been even more convincing for England – who face Mexico at the Azteca in the round of 16 on Monday.
England started threateningly, and had an attack within four minutes following a mix up in the middle from DR Congo. But a promising move fizzled out when Noni Madueke overhit his cross into the area.
But just three minutes later the Africans took a shock lead through Cipenga. Ex-Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba flicked a pinpoint ball onto the (now former) Castellon man to fire home at Jordan Pickford's near post after poor Three Lions defending.

Noni Madueke says the "healthy competition" between himself and **** nal team-mate Bukayo Saka in the England squad doesn't affect their relationship.
Since the World Cup started, England boss Thomas Tuchel has been managing Saka's minutes because of his Achilles tendinitis . This gave Madueke the chance to start on the right for the opening two Group L matches.
Saka started in the most recent game against Panama, but was later replaced in the second half by Madueke.
"It comes down to the coach's decision - what he wants and what he thinks is best for the team - but, from my side, I'm always ready," said Madueke.
"Obviously it's well documented that we're very close, so normally it should be a little bit strange - but it's not. I feel like it doesn't really affect our relationship whatsoever.

Thomas Tuchel was inches from being two from two; two games, two substitutes scoring. Even when Nico O’Reilly’s header thumped against the bar, the rebound fell obligingly for Harry Kane. “Ninety-nine times out of 100,” Tuchel argued, Kane would score. And if so, the manager may have been seen as a catalyst with his changes. Instead, Kane skied his shot.
As it is, England have one goal from a replacement this World Cup; a potentially significant one, too, with Marcus Rashford’s late clincher against Croatia. And yet, as Ghana shut England out, narrow as the margins were, it brought into question Tuchel’s strategy for providing bench strength.
The German’s blueprint can be for more of the same, for like-for-like replacements. On the left wing, Anthony Gordon and Rashford share plenty of characteristics, and bringing on the Mancunian for the similarly speedy Merseysider worked well against Croatia. On the right, Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke even share a club, the 2025 signing understudying ***** nal’s homegrown talent for Mikel Arteta and presumably doing so again on international duty when the brighter star is fit enough to start.
Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers are Midlanders and friends. The Aston Villa man may not have the talent of the Real Madrid player but Bellingham’s route back into the side, seemingly, was to emulate Rogers’ role as the No 10 in autumn.
As for the back-up strikers, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney may not be Kane clones, but they are less likely to be seen anyway. “Does Argentina rely too heavily on [Lionel] Messi and France on [Kylian] Mbappe?” Tuchel asked rhetorically. “It is normal. They are world-class players and they do what they do.”

England head to Boston Stadium in Foxborough tonight with the chance to seal their place in the knockout rounds with a game to spare.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were exhilarating against Croatia on matchday one, scoring four goals and registering 20 shots inside the penalty area — a new World Cup record.
However, the defensive frailties exposed in that match were equally notable, with Croatia finding **** e on the counter on multiple occasions.
Tuchel will demand greater solidity at the back tonight while maintaining the attacking intensity that has made this England side so exciting to watch.
Tuchel has a largely fit squad at his disposal. Bukayo Saka continues to be managed carefully following his Achilles issue and is expected to start on the bench again, with Noni Madueke retaining his place on the right flank.

Bukayo Saka missed England group training on Saturday as he continues to manage the Achilles problem that has affected him since March, making him unlikely to start against Ghana this week.
The ****** nal winger was the only member of Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man squad not involved in the main session at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, instead working indoors on an individual programme tailored around his recovery.
Saka was not fit enough to start England’s Group L opener against Croatia, although he came on in the second half, played 18 minutes and claimed his 10th ****** ist for his country in the 4-2 win.

According to reports in the UK papers, Bukayo Saka is unlikely to be ready to start England’s next World Cup match against Ghana, despite insisting he is fit and “ready to go”.
The ****** nal winger is still building his fitness after an Achilles problem, with Noni Madueke expected to keep his place on the right. Saka has been managed carefully since March and remains short of the fitness required to complete full matches.
England manager Thomas Tuchel raised doubts over Saka’s readiness last week, making clear that the 24-year-old was not yet back to full fitness.
“He is still not 100 per cent for us,” Tuchel revealed last week on Wednesday. “Some things are missing for Bukayo in terms of consecutive training.

The big news in the build up to England’s game against Croatia on Wednesday night was that **** nal’s Bukayo Saka wouldn’t be starting the game due to his ongoing fitness concerns.
Saka is obviously one of England’s best players, so it’s always a bit worrying when he’s not in the team. But in this case it only meant that fellow **** nal winger Noni Madueke would come into the team, and Saka’s replacement ended up helping England to break the deadlock.
Following a Declan Rice corner, Madueke snuck in ahead of Luka Modric to win the ball and draw a foul for a penalty, eventually converted by Harry Kane at the second attempt.

Harry Kane has revealed the half-time message that Thomas Tuchel told his England team after the Three Lions opened their World Cup campaign with a 4-2 win over Croatia.
A strong second-half showing from England ensured a win on opening night, after an open first half had seen four goals evenly shared.
Kane opened the scoring with a re-taken penalty after Luka Modric had hacked down Noni Madueke, but Martin Baturina's brilliant effort levelled for Croatia.
England showcased their set-piece strength when Kane headed home unmarked from a Declan Rice corner, only for Croatia to level again before half-time. A fine flowing move saw Peter Musa side-foot past Jordan Pickford to equalise before the break.
But England came out from the interval with bite. Jude Bellingham charged through to fire England ahead just two minutes after the restart, as part of an early onslaught.

England’s electrifying attack took charge of Group L with all three points in a 4-2 victory over Croatia who scored two impressive goals which made for a 2026 FIFA World Cup thriller.
A captain’s brace from Harry Kane with a penalty and a header in the first half was cancelled out by two well-worked Croatia goals, but Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford’s goals in the second half secured the win for the Three Lions, making for a thriller of a first game for head coach Thomas Tuchel at the major tournament.
He’ll be disappointed to have conceded Martin Baturina’s goal as he got an outstretched hand to it, but he made saves in the game afterwards that he should be making.
His dynamism certainly allowed for a dual threat down the right flank with Madueke but he was poor for Croatia’s second goal. Showed his versatility closing out the game in midfield in the latter stages of the match.
The Europa League winner wasn’t at his best today, lacking an aerial presence and was also at fault for Croatia’s second goal. But he was another who grew into the game in the second half.

Bukayo Saka has said he and Noni Madueke 'push each other' to improve as the pair compete for a place for England and ******* nal.
Saka and Madueke are in the rare position as club teammates who are competing for the same position at international level.
Thomas Tuchel has named Saka and Madueke as his options for the right-wing at this summer'sWorld Cup, with both battling to be named in the team for tomorrow's opening fixture against Croatia.
It's a rivalry that has continued from club level, after Madueke made the move to ******* nal from Chelsea last summer. The duo helped the Gunners to Premier League ******* le success last season.
Despite the competition, Saka has said their personal battle has no impact on the close relationship between them. The 24-year-old said Madueke is 'like a brother' and that each wishes only the best for the other.

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Declan Rice as England’s vice-captain for the World Cup after the midfielder and his **** nal team-mates joined their preparation camp in Florida.
The 27-year-old arrived at the team’s West Palm Beach base with Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze on Saturday evening as their team-mates beat New Zealand 1-0 in baking Tampa.
Rice is one of the first names on the England team sheet and travelled to the United States fresh from playing a key role in **** nal winning the Premier League and narrowly losing last weekend’s Champions League final.
