Brandon Matthews, whose daughter attends Mount Pleasant Elementary School, and whose son is entering his senior year at Mount Pleasant High School, asked both principals in May to notify him if a member of the opposite biological ******* was permitted to use bathrooms or locker rooms used by his children.
Matthews did not ask officials to identify any student, according to his federal lawsuit.

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella on Friday pledged to revive the country's oil and gas sector, restore state-owned energy company Ecopetrol and strengthen the electricity system, arguing that energy security would be a cornerstone of his administration.
Speaking during his inauguration, de la Espriella said Colombia would pursue an energy transition — a shift away from oil, gas and coal toward cleaner energy sources such as wind and solar power — but insisted it must not come at the expense of the country's oil and gas industry.
"I believe in the energy transition," he said. "But that transition must be built from strength, not from weakness, from self-sufficiency and not from dependence."
The remarks reinforce a sharp shift from former President Gustavo Petro, who stopped awarding new oil and gas exploration contracts while pushing Colombia toward renewable energy and making protection of the Amazon a centerpiece of his environmental agenda. Just four months ago, Petro's government hosted an international summit in the Caribbean city of Santa Marta aimed at building support for a global transition away from fossil fuels.
The commitments echo promises de la Espriella made throughout his presidential campaign, when he repeatedly vowed to expand oil and gas production and reverse key elements of Petro's energy policy.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senators headed for the exits in the predawn hours Saturday, ending for now a crushing standoff over President Donald Trump's demands that they stay in session to pass a strict proof-of-citizenship voting bill before the summer recess.
While they wrapped up many key priorities in the overnight votes, advancing Trump's SAVE America Act was not among them.
Instead, Republican senators who had brought the chamber to a standstill spoke to Trump late in the evening about an alternative plan: They would try again to approve elements of the voting bill as part of a broader GOP budget package to fund the Iran war and replenish the Pentagon when they return to work in September.

Perhaps with the exception of good friend Pat Surtain, no Denver Broncos player was happier about the Jaylen Waddle trade than third-year quarterback Bo Nix.
Waddle is a speedy, consistent play-making receiver, which is exactly what Denver's offense had been lacking. Waddle is currently sidelined with a strain, but he's expected to be back in action within a few days.
"He's an explosive playmaker," quarterback Bo Nix said last weekend. "The guy is really good at what he does. He makes plays, he's fast, he's really explosive. He's great ball in hand, he's great going to get the ball deep, he's great in the screen game. He can do just a lot of things. He's very versatile.
"He adds an extra element to our offense, and it's exciting. We have a lot of different weapons that we're using, and I think top to bottom, this is just a really strong team, really good. We just have to find what works for us and find ways to utilize all our tools."
Waddle is, as Nix emphasized, a versatile weapon. He can line up all over the field, and that could help create openings for other players as well.

More than two decades after serving time in connection with a stock-trading scandal, the lifestyle mogul reflected on the experience and insisted that being incarcerated gave her "street cred." However, Martha Stewart also rejected the comparatively comfortable reputation of the minimum-security federal facility where she completed her sentence, describing it as "a horrible place."

Stewart served her sentence at Federal Prison Camp Alderson in West Virginia between October 2004 and March 2005. During a new interview with PEOPLE, she acknowledged how the experience affected the way the public viewed her. "Of course it gave me street cred," Stewart said. When the interviewer suggested that her newfound credibility may have helped bring her closer to longtime friend Snoop Dogg, Stewart rejected the theory and explained that their connection began with her interest in hip-hop.

Nonetheless, the 34-year-old coordinator made it clear Philadelphia will continue to rely on its iconic "Tush Push" play during the 2026 NFL season.
"It's going to be a part of what we do. It's been an extremely effective play here," Mannion told reporters when asked about the play at a Saturday, Aug. 8 news conference. "We're going to lean into that. It's something this organization has executed at a high level. So along with many other elements to our offense, certainly, it's something that will be a part of it."

The Eagles changed a lot about their offense this offseason, but offensive coordinator Sean Mannion will be holding onto something from previous regimes.
Mannion was asked about his stance on the tush push during a press conference on Saturday. The quarterback sneak has been a staple in Philadelphia for several years, but they were less successful running it in 2025 and the team parted ways with longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland this year. Neither of those things will lead to the play disappearing from the playbook, however.
"It's gonna be a part of what we do," Mannion said. "It's been an extremely effective play here. We're going to lean into that. It's something this organization has executed at a high level. So along with many other elements to our offense, certainly, it's something that will be a part of it."

Even with an enlarged, permanent stadium in Dyersville, Iowa, and the presence of Netflix, both MLB and the streaming giant said they intend to still let the famed setting "do the work" for the upcoming third iteration of the Field of Dreams game.
The league and Netflix are now going through final preparations for next week's showcase Phillies-Twins game at the filming site of the 1989 Field of Dreams movie. The circumstances will be far different from the last such game there in 2022. Among the changes:
The site, still a popular tourist destination, now includes a newly completed permanent stadium—seating about 8,000 people—and a large-scale youth baseball complex under its current owner, the non-profit Dyersville Events Inc. That development work has led to a series of permanent features, such as player locker rooms and redesigned seating, that advance significantly beyond the many temporary elements used for the MLB games there in 2021 and 2022.
Netflix will now show the game exclusively. Over-the-air broadcaster Fox aired those first two contests,as part of a rights deal completed last fall. The coverage will be shown globally.
A team from Chicago, the closest MLB market to Dyersville, is not involved. The White Sox faced the Yankees in the first Field of Dreams game and the Cubs played the Reds in the second one.

Clev Lubin's sack celebrations are a mixed bag.
Louisville's senior defensive lineman uses each as an added element of entertainment for spectators and has been known to have a few at his disposal: rolling dice — signifying how he bets on himself — and the "Karate Kid" crane kick pose are just a couple.
But the one that means the most and will be seen the most this season pays homage to his Haitian heritage. Lubin combines the popularized Superman move (pretending to rip open one's shirt in the chest area) with throwing up the "Z" (the two thumbs connect with one palm facing him and the other turned backwards).
Lubin did it so much at practices during his time at Army that one teammate, who was also Haitian, referred to him as "Zuperman" instead of Superman. He debuted the combination move at Iowa Western Community College and brought it two years later to Louisville, where he led the team in sacks, tackles for loss and forced fumbles in his Cardinals debut.
"When I went to JUCO, I started doing the celebration, so that's just stuck with me," Lubin said. "That's kind of my little thing right there."

Few aspects of the Denver Broncos training camp top the risers and fallers.
Everyone knows the players who have their spots on the roster scribbled in ink. But it's the players who are fighting for a spot or clawing their way up the depth chart that creates the best storylines. That's especially true for rookies.
After Broncos practice on Wednesday, Sean Payton was asked if there has been a pleasant surprise at this point.
"Fair question. I think the young runner, you don't feel a rookie with (running back) Jonah (Coleman). He's playing. It's been harder with some of the linemen because we haven't been in pads in fairness to them. Then a couple of these young linebackers, we're getting to see them move around, make the calls. There's a lot to that position, a lot of it is key and diagnose. That's been good."
The fact that Payton singled out Coleman is no doubt a positive sign (thanks, John Madden). When Denver selected the running back out of Washington in the fourth round, the pick was widely celebrated. Adding his running style and abilities to this offense gives the running back room another element and a different running style.

Energy and enthusiasm were the order of the day at Fred G. Hughes Stadium Wednesday as the Missouri Southern State University football team gathered for its first official practice of the 2026 season.
"The first of anything is exciting," head coach Atiba Bradley said. "Every season has its own baby — its own challenge, its own entity, so I'm excited about opening it up. I'm excited to get it started. I didn't get into coaching to sit behind a desk from 9 to 5. A very real competition is unfolding at the linebacker position for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While the thought throughout the offseason was that Ventrell Miller would step into the starting role next to Foye Oluokun, Branson Combs has entered the mix and is pushing for those snaps.
"That's a heated competition in that room," said defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. "It's about stacking days and continuing to produce. But the guys in there are in a good competition and they're all playing hard."
Each linebacker brings a different element to the Jaguars' defense. John Shipley of Jaguars on SI notes the plays in the run game that Miller has made throughout camp, while Combs has stood out as a coverage defender.
"I think Combs has a narrow lead due to his coverage ability," wrote Shipley, "but it certainly feels like the Jaguars are going to let this battle go down to the wire. .. "Right now, it certainly feels like it is too close to call."

Bayer Leverkusen have signed Spanish left back Miguel Gutiérrez on a five-year contract until 2031, the Bundesliga club said on Wednesday.
Gutiérrez, 25, arrived from Serie A runners-up Napoli and the transfer fee has been estimated at €30 million ($34.5 million).
He is to take the place of compatriot Alejandro Grimaldo who has left Leverkusen for Atlético Madrid.
"Miguel is a superb footballer – exactly the player we wanted for this position," Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes said.

One of Dortmund's will-they-won't-they transfers of the summer appears to be going ahead at long last. Per Fabrizio Romano, Dortmund wing-back Yan Couto is set to move to Italy this summer on loan to Como.
Couto joined Dortmund initially on loan from Manchester City in the fall of 2024, with a purchase obligation exercised in the summer of 2026. Across two seasons for BVB, Couto played 62 matches, scoring three goals and **** isting a further three.
These numbers only tell a half story. In his second season, Couto played a mere 997 minutes in the league, falling behind Julian Ryerson in the pecking order at right wing-back. One might think Couto would be perfectly suited to Niko Kovac's five-back system, but unfortunately for Couto, Ryerson's crossing prowess this season made him impossible to leave off the team sheet.
I, for one, am very disappointed to see Couto go in what will likely prove to be a permanent departure. Couto took an enormous leap of faith moving to Dortmund, a completely foreign country and league, and embraced the club with open arms. BVB repaid him, in my opinion, with limited minutes and little reward for the good moments he showed in black and yellow. It always felt as though Couto was an afterthought on the team-sheet despite his impressive CV and potential to bring a different element to the squad, with some time to settle into a role. Dortmund gave Raphaël Guerreiro seven seasons to be a poor defender with tremendous creative ability—I'm not sure why Couto couldn't be afforded just one.
Couto is only 24, and with the buy option seemingly non-obligatory, we may yet see Yan Couto in black and yellow again. Unfortunately, BVB has likely left a poor taste in the Brazilian's mouth, and I wouldn't blame him for leaving it in the past.

Riders at the Tour de France Femmes were subject to extra clothing checks before Tuesday's stage following claims some could be using extra padding in their bras to seek an aerodynamic advantage.
A communique from race organizers confirmed the checks after Dutch outlet Wielerflits reported some teams had raised concerns that padded bras could smooth the airflow around the body for the stage four time trial.
"Riders must be to the final checks before the race (bikes and outfit) no later than 10 minutes before their respective start time," the communique said.
"Particular attention will be paid to compliance with article 1.3.032 of the UCI regulations, including non-essential elements and clothing or other items/accessories worn by a rider (including but not limited to helmets, glasses, shoes or in-race communication devices) which could modify riders' morphology."
The UCI defines non-essential elements as "any element which does not have a purpose which is exclusively of clothing or protection, or which is not strictly necessary for the functionality of the clothing, or other item, or accessory".

The New York Giants are intentionally building a physical identity under head coach John Harbaugh, and veteran offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor already sees the early foundation taking hold on the practice field.
After the first day in full pads, Eluemunor highlighted a shift in approach that started months earlier. In prior seasons, teams often waited until pads arrived before digging into the run game. This year, the Giants opened it up sooner.
"You can't wait until the pads come on to really dig into that," Eluemunor told reporters.
Without the need to deliver heavy contact, the offense worked extensively on footwork, technique, and keeping heads in the right place. Defenders refined their block-shedding angles, reads, and gap discipline at the same time. That detailed preparation now allows the group to focus on the bigger physical elements once the pads are on—shedding blocks, creating movement along the line of scrimmage, and finishing plays with authority.
"I think that the practice we put in is going to help us in the long run," Eluemunor added.

Making a docuseries about the inner workings of pro wrestling isn't quite like making a docuseries about traditional sports.
In our traditional definition of sports, no one is 100% certain of the outcome. Yes, there are favorites and underdogs, but there is also an element of unpredictability. Since pro wrestling is scripted entertainment, the participants in the ring know what's going to happen. Kayfabe rules.
Season 3 of WWE: Unreal is already available on Netflix, just six months after the previous installment. While the outcomes might be predetermined, there is still a lot you can't plan for and have to adjust to.
"We kind of have glimpses into slivers of time of what the plan could be, of what's penciled in, and then life happens a lot," showrunner Erik Powers said. "Within this series, we cover what happened with Seth Rollins when he had a match down in Australia, and doing a coast-to-coast flying headbutt, he sustained a major shoulder injury that ended up knocking him out of commission. They had to rip up their story and pull the trigger on a breakup of his faction with Bron Breakker that they didn't have in the near view as a plan."
WWE: Unreal is made in conjunction with Omaha Productions and NFL Films. Senior producer Michael Flynn and his crew have become adept at highlighting the real-life aspects of this performance. Any documentary starts with an idea but may need to pivot quickly as the story unfolds and the people deal with change.

#Wrestling

This may have been just a formality at this point, but that doesn't mean it's still not good to hear. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, by way of Tom Izzo himself, projected Michigan State starter Kaleb Glenn has been cleared for all basketball related activites.
Glenn was the big transfer addition to the team last year, but a torn patellar tendon last summer derailed his season and postponed his debut. The Spartans were very patient and cautious with Glenn's recovery, and it seems like all restrictions have now been lifted and he's ready to contribute this season.
On paper, Glenn is everything Michigan State has needed on the wing for years. He's 6'7", 200-pounds, and shot over 40-percent from three in his last season played at FAU, where he transferred for one season after starting his career at Louisville.
Glenn has been a bit of a mystery element for this team as we aren't sure what to expect from him post-injury, but having him healthy adds an interesting dynamic to the roster moving forward.
