Bayer Leverkusen have signed Spanish left back Miguel Gutiérrez on a five-year contract until 2031, the Bundesliga club said on Wednesday.
Gutiérrez, 25, arrived from Serie A runners-up Napoli and the transfer fee has been estimated at €30 million ($34.5 million).
He is to take the place of compatriot Alejandro Grimaldo who has left Leverkusen for Atlético Madrid.
"Miguel is a superb footballer – exactly the player we wanted for this position," Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes said.
He named Gutiérrez "a skilful, attack-minded defender who fits in wellwith our team. With him, we have brought in a new, very invigorating element for our Werkself."
