Liam Thompson threw seven touchdown passes, including the winning score in overtime, to lead the Green Bay Blizzard past the Tulsa Oilers 67-60 and into the Indoor Football League championship game.
The Blizzard rallied to force overtime on a game-tying field goal by Andrew Mevis that hit the wire before deflecting through the uprights on the final play of the fourth quarter.
The victory gives Green Bay the Eastern Conference championship for the second straight season. The Blizzard lost to the Vegas Knight Hawks in last year's IFL championship game.
Tulsa nearly completed the upset as Oilers quarterback TJ Edwards II threw four TD passes and ran for two more scores. The Oilers took a 60-57 lead with 1:01 left on Caleb Ramseur's second rushing touchdown of the game.
The Blizzard then methodically worked the clock before settling for the tying field goal from Mevis to force OT.

L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions, a division of Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has received a limited notice to proceed (LNTP) from NTPC for work on the main plant package at the 1.6GW Lara Stage-III thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh, India.
The contract covers the construction of two 800MW ultra-supercritical generating units.
The final notice to proceed will be issued once the project receives environmental clearance and the LNTP period is complete.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — High-ranking Senate Democrat Ron Wyden has alleged that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. broke the law with recent phone calls urging third-party candidates to drop out of two Iowa congressional races.
In a complaint to the U.S. Office of the Special Counsel filed Monday, Wyden requested an investigation into whether the June calls violated the Hatch Act, a 1939 law that restricts certain political activities by federal employees. The Oregon Democrat said Kennedy acted inappropriately by interfering with elections that Trump's Republican administration wants GOP candidates to win.
"Kennedy has spent sixteen months using his official position to undermine the health and well-being of his fellow Americans, and now he is using his official position to undermine the integrity of democratic elections too," reads a statement from Wyden, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, which plays a role in overseeing the nation's health agencies.
The accusation comes as Trump has dispatched Kennedy to swing districts around the country as a key surrogate for the administration, promoting its widely popular efforts to encourage healthy eating and exercise. It takes issue with another task Kennedy reportedly did on behalf of the administration: calling Libertarian candidates to push them to drop out of two races where they could be spoilers for GOP candidates. At stake is control of Congress in a competitive midterm election year, where any win could be decisive in shaping the next two years of federal policy.
Spokespeople for Kennedy and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tuesday marked a tragic day for the Houston Texans' organization as the franchise announced that co-founder and senior chair Janice McNair had died Tuesday at the age of 89.
Now, former players have shared their appreciation, love, the condolonces for the passing of the woman who transformed them into stars, including the greatest player in franchise history.
Three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt posted on social media his love for the woman that helped bring him home in 2011 with the 11th overall pick.
“Rest in Peace Janice,” Watt wrote on X . “All of us who were graced with your presence and kindness are better for it.”
Moving to Houston in 1960, Janice and Bob raised four children and were responsible for bringing football back to the city after Bud Adams moved the Oilers to Tennessee in 1997. In 1998, the McNairs spent $700 million in 1998 to purchase an expansion franchise, making Houston the 32nd NFL team in league history.

Janice S. McNair, who co-founded the Houston Texans with her husband Bob, has died, the team announced Tuesday. She was 89.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce Houston Texans Co-Founder and Senior Chair Janice S. McNair passed away peacefully in Houston this afternoon with her family by her side,” the Texans said in a statement.
Janice McNair was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but spent most of her life in Houston as her husband’s right hand. Following the Houston Oilers’ move to become the Tennessee ******* ans, the McNairs were granted an expansion franchise by the NFL in 1999, with the franchise official co-founded by both Bob and Janice.
She took over the Texans’ organization in 2018, after Bob McNair’s death. The McNairs’ son, Cal McNair, was approved as the primary owner of the team in 2024.
“Mom was exceptional. She exuded kindness, radiated joy, had an endless amount of hope and love, and lived an incredible life centered around faith, family, philanthropy and football,” Cal McNair said in the statement. “I remain honored to lead this franchise and build on the foundation my parents set when they brought football back to Houston. Mom leaves an indelible mark on our family, our team and our community, and her giving spirit will always be embedded in the fabric of our organization. The news that 39-year-old former NFL running back Chris Johnson has ALS has reignited the discussion about the risks of playing football, and recent research puts into focus just how significant the link between playing in the NFL and developing ALS at a young age appears to be.
The Concussion & CTE Foundation said today that it has identified 10 NFL players since 1960 who died of ALS before the age of 50. ALS is typically a disease ******* ociated with aging, and it is extraordinarily rare in the general population for people to die of the disease before age 50. The same study says that based on population models, there should have been fewer than one NFL player since 1960 who died of ALS before age 50: Mathematically, the expected number would be 0.24 ALS deaths before age 50 out of a sample the size of the 19,824 NFL players whose health records were studied.
The study did not name all 10 players who have died of ALS, but some former NFL players who have been publicly identified as dying of ALS before turning 50 include 49ers linebacker Eric Scoggins at age 49, Patriots and Eagles running back Kevin Turner at age 46, Vikings defensive back Orlando Thomas at age 42 and Oilers defensive tackle Glenn Montgomery at age 31.
Dr. Daniel Daneshvar, a co-author of the study, said the findings are alarming.
"ALS deaths among former NFL players, particularly those who die at younger ages, are occurring far more often than could possibly be expected by chance," he said. "These findings are deeply concerning and underscore the urgent need to understand how repetitive head impacts and motor neuron disease may be connected. We must translate this knowledge into action by helping former players access specialized neurological care and accelerate research toward treatments and prevention. Every ALS diagnosis is devastating, and this data strengthens our responsibility to act with urgency.”

The Chicago Blackhawks will open the 2026-27 NHL season without franchise center Connor Bedard after he underwent successful surgery to repair his left shoulder.
The team confirmed the update on Wednesday, stating on X, "This morning, Connor Bedard underwent successful surgery to repair his left shoulder. We expect him to make a full recovery in an approximate timeline of four months."
Bedard suffered the injury during an offseason practice in Vancouver on July 2. The projected recovery means he will miss training camp and the opening weeks of the regular season.
The 20-year-old is coming off his best NHL campaign, leading Chicago with 75 points, including 30 goals and 45 ***** ists, in 69 games. The email arrived as the clock struck midnight and as the end of the July 1 free agency frenzy turned into a new day, one that many teams hope signals the dawn of a new era.
It may not be that dramatic for general manager Julien BriseBois and the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have averaged 101 points the past four seasons and are coming off a 50-win campaign. Alas, the Bolts expired in the first round of the playoff derby each year, an empty-feeling stretch following a memorable run to three straight final rounds and a pair of Cups.
Indeed, work needed to be done and as Wednesday melted into Thursday it was known that John Carlson was on his way to 401 Channelside Drive. The signing (two years, $8.5 million per) of the 36-year-old defenseman followed agreeing to terms with a pair of forwards earlier in the day: 31-year-old Ilya Mikheyev (four years, $3.85 AAV) and 29-year-old Jeffrey Viel (five years, $2.5 AAV).
BriseBois also dealt forward Nick Paul to Toronto for 24-year-old goaltender Dennis Hildeby and draft picks each of the next two years. While battling the injury bug last season and recording a minus-15 in 51 games, it was evident Paul’s role was decreasing. The Mississauga, Ont. native heads home after playing all or part of the last five seasons with the Lightning.

Free agency is in full effect here for the NHL, and teams made some major splashes to improve their rosters. After winning two Stanley Cups in Florida, Sergei Bobrovsky heads up north to Toronto. Vincent Trocheck gets traded to Utah for a haul, John Carlson signs with Tampa Bay, and Darnell Nurse gets shipped to San Jose.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are seen as a major winner in free agency. Signing a proven goalie in Sergei Bobrovsky solidifies their goaltending problem. Bobrovsky had a down year last season, posting a .877 SV%, but in the previous two years, he had 30-plus win seasons. They can free up more cap ******* e with moves to add to their roster, too. Solid day one for Toronto.
The San Jose Sharks, who easily crushed the first-round draft, have now committed $17.5 million to two players on their defensive core. Jacob Trouba, who wasn’t great last season, was traded for Darnell Nurse, and they took on his entire salary. Yes, the Sharks have money to play with, but they are committing the money to the wrong players.
Trading away Darnell Nurse to San Jose was a massive win for the Oilers. Signing Ryan Shea is a huge boost to their team, along with trading for a young goaltender in Devon Levi. Frederick Anderson, who had a strong playoff performance this season, adding a Stanley Cup to his resume, joins the team to help Edmonton’s goaltender problem.

The Tennessee **** ans unveiled new uniforms this offseason, along with an updated and modernized logo that ties back to the organization's Houston Oilers roots. There were some mixed reviews at first, but it seems that fans and players alike have accepted that this will be what we see in 2026.
We're in the dead period of the NFL year. Players are on their own until they report back to camp later this month. But that didn't stop Cam Ward from talking about his favorite uniform combination and his signature celebration move.
"Love the new uniforms. You know, **** an Blue, it's what we all wanted; it's what the fans wanted. Get them colors back in action," Ward says.
"Which combo am I most excited to wear this season? I would say all white. I'm a big all-white jersey guy, that's been one of my favorite colors as long as I played football, so I can't wait to pull them out for the first road game."

The reports indicated Nurse, in his trade request, had picked out three East Coast teams as the only places he'd waive his no-trade clause for.
Now, though, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Apparently, he'd go play for the San Jose Sharks, too.

Three women’s hockey players — Chloe Primerano, Abbey Murphy and Caitlin Kraemer — are participating in the Edmonton Oilers’ development camp this week.
In recent years, women such as Marie-Philip Poulin and Kendall Coyne Schofield have been on the ice during NHL teams’ development camps as guest coaches — Poulin with the Montreal Canadiens, Coyne Schofield with the Chicago Blackhawks. But in this case, this trio of players will be full participants.
Oilers general manager Stan Bowman had the idea to invite elite women’s hockey players to camp after watching the Milan Olympic women’s hockey tournament as an ****** istant general manager with the U.S. men’s team.
“They were putting on a show for everybody,” Bowman told The Athletic. “It was really high-level hockey on display and I was so impressed by it, that’s when it came to me — we should take some of these players and try to bring them to camp.”
Bowman contacted Murphy, Primerano and Kraemer in May asking if they’d like to attend the week-long camp, which began on Monday. Kraemer told reporters in Edmonton on Tuesday she thought the text from Bowman was spam. Primerano also had difficulty believing the invitation.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to pursue defenseman Zach Werenski , who is the reigning Norris Trophy winner, given to the best NHL defenseman for his overall impact. And if the Columbus Blue Jackets make him available, the cost could be enormous.
According to Daily Faceoff, any serious offer may have to begin with rising forward Matthew Knies .
During a discussion on Werenski's trade value, Colby Cohen said recent blockbuster deals have created a framework for negotiations.
"I think there's a roadmap on Werenski because Quinn Hughes was traded," Cohen said. "So I think there's at least a roadmap on the return for Werenski."

The Edmonton Oilers continue searching for help in goal, but one potential target appears to be off their list. According to NHL goalie **** yst Kevin Woodley, Michael DiPietro is not viewed as a fit under new head coach Mike Babcock.
Speaking on The Jason Gregor Show, Woodley dismissed the possibility of Edmonton targeting the AHL standout.
"Michael DiPietro is not going to be a pick for the Edmonton Oilers because their new head coach doesn't like small goalies," Woodley said.
He added, "Traditionally, talking to people around it and people who have been around Mike Babcock in other organizations, he just doesn't like small goalies. So DiPietro is not an option."

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers re-signed Jason **** inson to a five-year contract worth $20 million on Sunday, preventing the defensive-minded center from testing the free agent market.
Dickinson will count $4 million against the salary cap through the 2030-31 NHL season. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, three days before his 31st birthday.
Instead, **** inson will be counted on to provide depth in Edmonton as the organization looks to get over the hump and win the Stanley Cup following a decade of trying and falling short despite having two of the best players in the league in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Dickinson fit in well with the Oilers after they acquired him from Chicago in early March ahead of the trade deadline. He averaged roughly 15 minutes of ice time a game the rest of the season and 12 in the playoffs, becoming one of the team's most frequently penalty killers.
Re-signing **** inson was one item on a lengthy offseason checklist for general manager Stan Bowman. Hiring a coach could be next, along with potentially trading longtime defenseman Darnell Nurse and upgrading the goaltending position.

RIO RANCHO — Zack Stortini wasn’t naive. Certainly not to the business of professional hockey.
Before the 2018-19 season came to an end, the right-winger, the one who made his livelihood as an enforcer protecting his team’s best player and punishing whoever was across the ice, knew his playing career was coming to an end.
“More days behind you than ahead of you,” reminisced Stortini, the 40-year-old who was introduced Saturday as the first coach of the expansion New Mexico Goatheads, the East Coast Hockey League minor-league affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche at a fan event hosted by The Block in Rio Rancho.
Experience — 14 professional seasons of it — taught him that. From the parts of the six he spent in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers and the Nashville Predators to the hodgepodge of American Hockey League stops that had him crisscrossing North America.
He spent time in Des Moines, Iowa; Milwaukee; Hamilton, Ontario; Springfield, Massachusetts; Oklahoma City; Norfolk, Virginia; Allentown, Pennsylvania; Birmingham, Alabama; San Jose; and Charlotte, North Carolina and countless other cities in between.

The Edmonton Oilers are expected to overhaul their goaltending this NHL offseason, but moving Tristan Jarry may not be part of the solution.
Following a disappointing first-round playoff exit against the Anaheim Ducks, general manager Stan Bowman acknowledged that Edmonton must improve between the pipes.
“You’re right, we only have one goalie signed,” Bowman said. “We have to evaluate that… we’re looking for improvement in that area for sure.”

Usually, teams that have gotten so close to the Stanley Cup rarely change things up. They want to explore the team chemistry more and just patch up holes in the culture to get over the hump. The Vegas Golden Knights know better than this. They may have seen John Tortorella take over well for Coach Bruce Cassidy but this did not guarantee a long-term deal. Ryan Craig was instead given the role but their previous head coach still played a role on why the AHL head coach and former ***** istant took over the reins.
A lot of NHL fans may not know this but Coach Ryan Craig used to play for Coach John Tortorella. From 2005 to 2008. Craig was on the same Tampa Bay Lightning squad that Tortorella coached. So, there needed to be a big endorsement from the tenured head honcho before the Golden Knights hired their new one. General manager Kelly McCrimmon unveiled how Tortorella became part of why they hired Craig as the next head coach, via NHL.com.
"Interestingly, Tortorella had Ryan Craig as a player. He's got the same opinion of Ryan Craig that most people do. I know he was disappointed because he did want to coach our team next year, but I know also he's got a lot of regard for Ryan and a lot of respect for him. We thank 'Torts' for the guidance he provided our team since joining the organization in March. When the decision was made to bring Torts to Vegas, we needed an immediate impact to help us at a pivotal point in the season," the Golden Knights general manager said. "Torts' experience and leadership proved to be the boost that we were looking for, helping guide us to the Stanley Cup Final."
Notably, there is still a chance that Tortorella lands with an NHL squad in the coming season. The Edmonton Oilers have yet to find a replacement for Kris ***** lauch after their disappointing first-round exit despite having Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard.

June 14 (UPI) -- Jaccob Slavin and the Carolina Hurricanes vaporized Vegas Golden Knights offensive threats in a Game 6 shutout Sunday to seal the franchise's first Stanley Cup in 20 years.
Slavin provided an ******* ist, but made most of his impact as a spoiler of the Golden Knights' hopes of extending the series, foiling countless chances in Carolina's 3-0 triumph in Las Vegas.
"What a feeling," Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal, the Stanley Cup playoffs MVP, said on the ABC broadcast. "What a battle. The boys were grinding today. So many individual efforts to keep the puck out of the net. It was an amazing ride."
Hurricanes goalie Brandon Bussi, who took over for benched starter Frederik Andersen in Game 3, made 22 saves in Game 6 to become the first rookie to record a shutout in a Stanley Cup clincher since 1936. The Hurricanes are the first team since the 1984 Edmonton Oilers to win a Stanley Cup while using two starting goalies.
"It's special," Bussi said. "It's been a special year. It's been an honor to do it with this group. Everybody deserves it so much."

The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers went to overtime three times in the first four games. The Oilers won Games 1 and 4 while the Panthers won Game 2 in double overtime. Games 5 and 6 were settled in regulation as the Panthers beat the Oilers for the second year in a row.
Unlike the Olympics and world championships, where 3-on-3 overtime is played even in the gold medal game, the NHL switches things up in the postseason when the games matter more.
There won't be any more 3-on-3 play. It is 5-on-5 instead, just like in regulation play. There won't be any more shootouts. There is sudden death, and it could last a very long time.

Though Frankie missed the first night of his younger sister's Eternal Sunshine tour to attend the 2026 Tony Awards, he already knows the tour is a can't-miss event—though he's been trying to avoid spoilers of the many tricks and surprises Ariana unveils throughout the concert.
"I've been really trying hard not to watch every clip that I see online today," Frankie told E! News on the Tonys carpet June 7. "But I'm just so proud of her. I was literally texting her like, 'I was like the looping machine!' And then I would like swipe away, and then I'd be like, 'You're flying!'"
As he put it, "She is the greatest live vocalist of our generation, absolutely no question. She's an unbelievable artist. The fact that she gets to show all of that on stage—I'm so proud of her."
