A Palestinian fashion designer says she nearly closed down her fashion brand until Olivia Rodrigo stepped in.
In a new interview, designer Yasmeen Mjalli told Vogue Arabia that her brand Nöl Collective, founded in 2020, almost exclusively imported natural fibers to create their clothes. She recalled the numerous challenges and hardships of creating new pieces in the West Bank.
Mjalli told the magazine she once ordered a shipment of naturally dyed handwoven wool for the brand's autumn collection, only for it to have been held and ultimately destroyed by Israeli customs. She said she made an attempt to source replacement fabric in Jerusalem, but her efforts were thwarted due to the army closing down roads out of Ramallah.
"I was genuinely like, maybe we should stop, maybe this is our last effort. I was just so tired," Mjalli said.

Manchester United supporters' group have revealed how they will protest during Sunday's Manchester derby.
The Red Army said there will be no flag display ahead of the game as part of a protest which follows the club's investigation into ticket touting.
United revealed they had banned 685 season tickets following a contentious probe which had been condemned by many, with protests already planned for Sunday afternoon.
The Red Army said they will make their own views known by removing their regular flag display in the Stretford End and replacing it with a single banner above the players' tunnel. It will read: "The way you treat us is a disgrace."
In a statement, the group said: "This isn't a 'TRA' message, it's a message on behalf of every genuine fan group, match-going supporter, supporters' club and fan representative who has either contacted us directly or been negatively impacted by the recent behaviour of the club.

If you think Army is going to run over, around and through the South Florida defense the way the Black Knights did against Bryant in week one, think again.
There were a lot of positives to draw from as Army rolled up a school-record 648 yards of total offense and 569 rushing yards on the way to a 59-3 victory over Bryant. With a rout in progress, Army went deep into its bench and utilized 16 different ball carries, including three quarterbacks.
South Florida is not Bryant. The Bulls feature a defensive front that averages 6-foot-3, 293 pounds per man (Major Dillard is 330 pounds at nose, Asani Redwood is 300 at tackle and Michael Williams is 250 at end), compared to the Bryant squad that averaged 30 pounds less. Jump to the linebackers, and USF features a group that averages 6-3, 233 pounds, more than a dozen pounds heavier than the similar Bryant unit. You can also expect South Florida's defenders will be quicker to close off the edges, perhaps cutting off Army's success on the perimeter.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — More than half a million Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since the start of Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022, a senior British defense official said Friday.
The dead are part of 1.5 million Russian casualties in Ukraine, Air Chief Marshall Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the U.K's Defense Staff, said.
The U.K. figures roughly coincide with those published by the Ukrainian military. There was no immediate comment from Russian officials.
Moscow's bigger army is struggling to make headway on the battlefield. Western officials and ***** ysts say the Russian rate of advance has slowed significantly this year.
Russia's armed forces have also lost an "enormous" amount of military materiel, Knighton told reporters. That includes more than 10,000 armored and protected vehicles, close to 3,000 air defense and artillery systems, and over 370 aircraft and helicopters, Knighton said.

Former Australia opener David Warner found himself in a playful social media exchange with England's famous fan group, the Barmy Army, on Friday, and the banter quickly moved from Saim Ayub's ducks to Marnus Labuschagne's century drought, England's curfew troubles and Warner's long-running Stuart Broad problem.
It all started when the Barmy Army took a dig at Warner after Pakistan batter Saim Ayub registered a pair of ducks in the final Test against England at Edgbaston. The England fan group posted a statistic pointing out that Ayub had now registered a pair twice on English soil.
Replying to the Barmy Army, Warner wrote: "Interesting stat. When was the last time I went 42 innings without a Test hundred??"
The reference was not actually about Warner. The 42 innings was a cheeky dig at former Australia teammate Marnus Labuschagne, who had gone through a lengthy drought without a Test century. Labuschagne's last Test hundred came against England at Headingley in 2023, and his drought had stretched to 42 innings.
But he wasn't finished. Then came the curfew dig.
Warner followed his 42-innings reference with another jab: "Oh do you guys still have a curfew? Asking for a mate."
That was a reference to England's recent off-field disciplinary issues involving players breaking team curfew and going out drinking. The issue had become a talking point around the England setup, with fast bowler Brydon Carse among the players caught up in the recent controversy.

MOSCOW, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Bone fragments from the sword hand of a medieval Russian prince who won a famous victory over the Mongols have been sent to the front in Ukraine to raise army morale in the Russian Orthodox Church's latest show of support for President Vladimir Putin's war.
The sarcophagus of Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy, who died in 1389 and is revered by Russian nationalists for defeating the Mongol Golden Horde at the 1380 Battle of Kulikovo, was uncovered this summer during restoration work at Moscow's Cathedral of the Archangel inside the Kremlin.
Putin personally inspected what experts said were the prince's well-preserved remains in August, hailing them as "an absolutely unique and marvellous discovery" which reinforced the foundations of Russian history.
The Russian Orthodox Church, which has backed Putin throughout the conflict, said it had dispatched a fragment of Donskoy's right hand to Donetsk, one of four Ukrainian regions Putin said he had incorporated into Russia in 2022, a move Kyiv rejected as an illegal land grab.

Sept 8 (Reuters) - Russia's defence ministry wants to claim back part of a one-off payout from contract service personnel found guilty of criminal offences at home, a document showed, amid increasing cases of domestic violence among those fighting Russia's war on Ukraine.
Russia provides a minimum one-off payment of 400,000 roubles ($4,640) for soldiers signing at least a one-year contract to fight in the war with Ukraine that Moscow calls "a special military operation". Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
In practice, one-off payouts may reach a few million roubles per soldier, depending on the region, in addition to a monthly salary. Russia is also reducing sentences for those serving time in prison in exchange for signing up for the war, among other benefits, as it seeks to bolster army numbers.
Russia has seen a rise in domestic violence as fighters return home for leave, and the defence ministry wants to claim part of the one-off payments "in order to increase the motivation of military personnel to comply with the law", in case of a criminal offence, a draft law published on Monday showed.
If active contract service members are found guilty of a criminal offence which does not imply a prison sentence, they should pay back a portion of the one-off payout based on the months of the service left, the document showed.

BETRAWATI, Nepal, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Believing she had perished in Nepal's deadly floods, the family of Chandika **** ari Shrestha started the ritual of mourning the elderly woman's death.
Ten days later, rescuers found her alive inside her collapsed home in the devastated Betrawati village, where she had survived in a narrow pocket of air amid water and mud.
"The four-storey house was swept (away) by the floods and the house was left in the middle of a quicksand. While walking around it, we heard a voice 'save me,'" police officer Mahendra Darnal said.
In a rescue operation on Saturday lasting 45 minutes, Darnal and his team found Shrestha in a confined **** e and sent her to an army hospital.

Ford is to compete - along with a range of other automotive OEMs - for a significant new UK military vehicle contract. The company is also exploring the potential for vehicle sales to other national armed forces across Europe.
The Financial Times has reported that Ford is among companies interested in competing for the upcoming contract to develop a next generation Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) for the British Army.
The FT report suggested that Ford is aiming to expand sales of its Ranger pickup trucks for military purposes to the UK and NATO countries across Europe.
Ford of Europe President Jim Baumbick told the FT that there was "a big opportunity" for NATO to develop military-purpose vehicles with car parts that could be shared across allied forces to strengthen crisis-management response capabilities.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers is pressing the Army to explain why it told a unit based in Europe to stop specializing in drone warfare, an order that comes as the world's battlefields rapidly evolve and military tactics increasingly rely on uncrewed systems to fight.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade was building its own drones and practicing the kind of warfare that Ukraine has pioneered against Russia and that Iran has fought against the U.S. — warfare that has killed and wounded American troops. The brigade of 600 soldiers was set up in November to be deployed anywhere that drones were needed.
"We have deep concerns that eliminating this specialized drone unit will limit our ability to learn from allies, particularly the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and hinder our efforts to modernize drone warfare at the speed necessary to compete on the modern battlefield," the lawmakers said in a letter shared with The ****** ociated Press.

In 1980, Duke was in the market for a new coach. Bill Foster was unhappy, and for some reason, thought that South Carolina was a solid move.
It wasn't: South Carolina had left the ACC on June 31, 1971 and was still an independent, a disastrous decision made by then-AD Paul Dietzel and basketball coach Frank McGuire. South Carolina joined the SEC in 1990, and has never really been much of a factor there.
Duke AD Tom ******* ers made what appeared to be a curious decision, hiring Army Coach Mike Krzyzewski, who had just come off of a 9-17 season.
Butters introduced Krzyzewski, calling him as "the brightest young coaching talent in America." Time would prove that ******* sment correct, but not many people believed it at the time. The Duke Chronicle actually ran a headline that said "This is not a Joke."

AEW All In 2026 delivered as one of the year's best professional wrestling events this past Sunday in London. Kofi and Creed parted ways with WWE in a shocking development in May after a 12-year run teaming together, in addition to teaming with Big E. Lantronix (NASDAQ:LTRX) closed out fiscal 2026 looking like a different company than it was a year earlier. Revenue for the fourth quarter, which ended June 30 and was reported on August 26, came in at $31.2 million, up 8% from a year ago, while non-GAAP earnings per share jumped 300% to $0.04. The company also finished the year debt-free with $60.5 million in cash. What used to be a niche embedded-connectivity supplier is now leaning hard into drones, edge AI compute, and recurring software revenue.
That shift shows up most clearly in unmanned systems. A year ago the company had roughly 10 active engagements in the category; by the end of fiscal 2026 that number had tripled to over 30. Unmanned systems revenue hit $12.6 million for the year, above the midpoint of the $10 million to $14 million range management had guided to, and embedded IoT solutions overall grew 34% on the strength of that business.
CEO Saleel Awsare pointed to the company's US Army short-range reconnaissance program win, tied to Teal Drones' Black Widow platform and its status as a Blue UAS approved supplier, as proof of its camera tuning and sensor fusion expertise. Management is layering in partnerships too, including a deal with AVT Australia to build its system-on-module tech into gimbal camera payloads and a collaboration with Swarmer that roughly quadruples onboard processing power for Group 1 drones. For fiscal 2027, management expects unmanned systems to reach 15% to 20% of total revenue, more than $25 million.
The balance sheet backs up the ambition: a $44 million capital raise during the quarter helped push cash to $60.5 million while the company paid off its remaining $8.7 million in debt. Twenty-nine years after the Paris crash that killed Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul, Trevor Rees-Jones remains the only person who was inside their Mercedes and survived.
Rees-Jones left the Ritz Paris in the front passenger seat shortly after midnight on Aug. 31, 1997. The Mercedes crashed into a pillar in the Pont de l'Alma underpass. Paul and Fayed died at the scene, while Diana was taken to Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, where she died several hours later.
Rees-Jones was not Diana's personal bodyguard. The former British Army paratrooper worked for the Fayed family and had been ******* igned to protect Dodi, which also placed Diana within his security responsibilities while the couple traveled together, as PEOPLE reported on the crash's 29th anniversary.
He survived with severe head, chest and facial injuries. For the investigations that followed, however, one consequence proved especially significant, Rees-Jones could remember leaving the Ritz, but almost nothing reliable about what happened afterward.

Happy Sunday Husky fans. Today is the last Sunday without Husky football football happening for the next few months, which means recruiting is kicking into gear again. High school football is also kicking off and several Husky targets saw their seasons start.
Teammates Blake Rospkopf and Zerek Sidney (from Desert Edge) both had solid outings in their first games of their senior seasons against Cactus Shadows. Roskopf had 416 yards through the air with 3 touchdowns and 1 INT. Roskopf, who is set to enroll early and also take part in the Army All American Game, is set to have a big year for Desert Edge this season. Sidney had a solid start to his senior season with 7 receptions for 142 yards and a 2 point conversion. It's nice to see solid production from Sidney who missed time last year with an illness.
The Huskies are hoping they can land their teammate, 5 star edge Jalanie George, in the 2028 class. George, who is set to visit Montlake next weekend for the Apple Cup, had a strong start to his junior campaign with 8 tackles and 2 TFL's. It's still early but the Huskies appear to be one of the favorites for George who is also looking at Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, and Miami. Listed at 6'5" and around 240 pounds George projects as a future edge and should have the frame and size to play early once he gets to college.
Edge commit Chaz Gray and his St Joseph Regional squad lost their season opening battle against Mt Carmel HS. Gray had a solid outing (I don't have his official stats), and he was disruptive and stout on the edge. Listed at 6'4" and around 250 pounds Gray already has a college frame and the Huskies are excited to bring him on to Montlake in January (it sounds like he will try and make his way to Montlake for the Apple Cup as well). Gray's brother Tahj is one of the top recruits in the 2028 class, and the Huskies are shooting their shot with him to see if they can land the talented linebacker and he is looking at UW seriously with his brother set to be a Husky(there is some stiff competition with Ohio State pushing really hard for him as well). Listed at 6'3" and around 230 pounds Gray is an active linebacker who is rated as the #1 linebacker in the country via his composite ranking.

NUWAKOT, Nepal (AP) — Aid began to reach some survivors in Nepal on Friday following the catastrophic flash floods that swept through the mountainous border region between Nepal and China, as the full scope of the devastation continued to emerge and survivors sought shelter at makeshift army relief centers.
Children who have been separated from their families are being given shelter as attempts are made to reunite them with families.
The U.N.'s agency for children said at least 17,000 children are in urgent need of humanitarian ****** istance, while 18 schools have been destroyed and another 20 damaged.
The International Red Cross estimates that at least 93,000 people have been affected and are in "great need."

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blocked promotions of four Army officers picked for promotion to one-star rank, some of whom have ties to top Army generals the Pentagon chief ousted earlier this year, The Hill has learned.
Some of the officers pulled from the list have links to former Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Randy George, who Hegseth removed in April, and to Gen. Chris Donahue, the commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa who was ousted by the defense secretary in June, a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters, told The Hill on Friday.
"Military promotions are given to those who have earned them. This has always been the case under Secretary Hegseth and will not change." Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell told The Hill in a statement on Friday.
Earlier this year, Hegseth intervened and removed four Army officers — two women and two Black men — from a one-star general promotion list to the dismay of Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and other service branch officials, The Hill and other news outlets have reported.
Hegseth's allies have argued the Pentagon does not factor in the color of a service member's skin or their gender. The defense secretary has blocked promotions of officers in the Air Force and Navy as well, rankling former military leaders who argued the moves are an abuse of his power.

Most Americans will never use Palantir's Maven software, but they are paying more and more taxes for it.
William Blair ****** yst Louie DiPalma reiterated an Outperform rating on Palantir Technologies (PLTR) on the back of the company's Maven Smart System, which he said looks to be approaching a $1 billion annual revenue run rate and could eventually secure formal program-of-record status in the U.S. defense establishment.
It's an estimate that counts since Maven isn't just another corporate chatbot. It's an AI-enabled military intelligence and data system.
