Former Los Angeles TV news anchor Harold Greene has died, according to a social media post by his daughter, Courtney Greene. He was 82.
"Our beloved husband, father, uncle and friend has signed off for the last time," she wrote in a Facebook post. "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Harold passed away last night. My mom and I were by his side, and there was an extraordinary amount of love in the room. We have a feeling he's already settling into the great newsroom in the sky, no doubt with a few suggestions on how things should be run. He was so very loved, and we know he will be missed by many."

SpaceX's (SPCX) goal of turning its Starlink service into a major US mobile carrier is one step closer to becoming a reality.
On Wednesday, Qualcomm (QCOM) announced that ***** eX has selected its Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure platforms to power Starlink Mobile's nationwide terrestrial 5G cellular network.
Starlink already has the largest satellite-based network, and the ground-based stations will allow it to better compete with AT&T (T), T-Mobile (TMUS), and Verizon (VZ).
Last month, the company announced an agreement to purchase licenses for 800 MHz spectrum.
"While Starlink Mobile's global 2 GHz mid-band spectrum will provide high-bandwidth capacity in the United States, this new low-band spectrum will provide a coverage layer that ensures Starlink Mobile's signal penetrates through obstacles, such as walls, and can provide service to customers' devices even when they are in buildings," the company said at the time.

Good news - you'd think - for Carrick. But even better news for Amazon's All or Nothing camera crews, who have been given "unprecedented" access to document the behind-the-scenes goings-on at Old Trafford this season.
United fans will presumably be relieved when the football resumes on Saturday, if only to break up the constant stream of opinion for 90 minutes.
But while the wall-to-wall reporting of one of the world's biggest football clubs is hardly new, the unrelenting coverage from former players is a growing phenomenon.

Texas high school football fans will have free access to all 12 UIL state championship games through local television stations and streaming platforms under an agreement announced Thursday.
Nexstar Media Group and Mission Broadcasting will provide live coverage of the championships, scheduled for Dec. 16-19 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The four-day event will crown Division I and Division II champions all six UIL classifications.
The partnership includes television stations and digital streaming platforms in 13 Texas markets. Television coverage will vary by market, with individual games available on local broadcasts, streaming platforms or both. Fans will also be able to watch through participating stations' digital streaming platforms regardless of their location, according to the announcement. That access extends to viewers outside Texas.
"The UIL state football championships are an important tradition for high schools and communities throughout Texas," UIL executive director Jamey Harrison said in a press release. "We are excited to work with Nexstar Media and Mission Broadcasting to expand access to these championship games, and we are pleased that fans will be able to watch them through streaming and local television broadcasts across Texas."
Participating outlets include KDAF and CW33+ in Dallas, KIAH and CW39+ in Houston, and KBVO, KXAN and KXAN+ in Austin. It's official: Joey Porter Jr. was active for a second game with the Dallas Cowboys, and the Pittsburgh Steelers can finally breathe a sigh of relief with additional draft capital now heading their way.
A big part of the Steelers-Cowboys trade was a conditional sixth-round pick that required Porter to be on Dallas' game-day roster for at least two games, which appeared to be in jeopardy following his surprise absence in Week 5 and concerning ankle injury on the Week 6 practice report. A handshake agreement. That's the term I saw all weekend regarding the College Football Playoff expanding from 12 teams to 24 beginning next year, with ESPN remaining the sole rights holder. There are positives and negatives to the reported deal, and it was refreshing to hear discourse on both sides of the argument across ESPN's networks this weekend. That's something college football fans didn't get with the network's coverage of the Protect College Sports Act.
However, in the end, ESPN owns all the goods. Again. The network has been the exclusive rights holder since the playoff began just 12 years ago. Fans can debate whether expanding the playoff to 24 teams will diminish the weekly must-win stakes of college football or lead to the elimination of conference championship games for major conferences. One thing remains clear: ESPN controls the entire package. That raises a question: If the sport wants to expand on the field, why can't it expand how those games are broadcast?
The old saying goes, "Follow the money." After signing a six-year, $7.8 billion exclusive extension in 2024, ESPN received an exclusive 30-day window to negotiate with the College Football Playoff over expansion. That window expired, but a handshake agreement was reportedly reached in the days that followed.
As a result, FOX Sports, CBS Sports/TNT Sports/Skydance, NBC Sports, and others never had an opportunity to compete for the expanded package during that window. Has ESPN dominated college football coverage for generations? Of course. Is watching College GameDay part of the average fan's Saturday routine during the fall? Absolutely.

President Trump has announced that the administration will send a one-time $90 payment to 21 million people enrolled in Medicare Part B coverage. The payments will be issued automatically to qualified Medicare beneficiaries starting this week.
Not everyone enrolled in Medicare Part B will be paid. There are over 70 million people enrolled in Medicare, with almost 63 million in Part B, which covers general medical care and preventive health services.
In a White House statement, the president said the "premium rebates" are intended to help "enrollees pay for their Medicare Part B premiums."
The standard Part B premium is $202.90 for 2026, up from $185 in 2025.
