Interested in Walmart Inc.? Here are five stocks we like better.
Target trades at roughly 15 times earnings with a 3% yield, presenting value relative to Walmart and Costco ahead of the holiday season.
Aggressive price cuts on over 10,000 items and October Deal Days discounts of up to 40% could drive market-beating Q3 and holiday results.
Dividend growth exceeding 50 years, buyback capacity, and heavy institutional ownership near 80% help limit downside risk into 2026.
Believe it or not, the holiday shopping season is here, so it's time to consider the best plays. As it stands, seasonal sales growth is expected to accelerate year over year to 4.55% to 4.8%, topping $1.7 trillion for the first time, underpinned as always by e-commerce. Digital sales are expected to top 8% seasonally and may outpace expectations as AI adoption accelerates. Hyperscalers, business services, and merchants are embedding AI throughout the digital retail stack, and it is resonating with consumers. An estimated 25% to 30% of shoppers say they will use AI this season for help with research, price comparisons, and budgeting.

Bitget has published its August 2026 Proof of Reserves report, marking the 45th consecutive monthly disclosure since the program began in December 2022, with a total reserve ratio of 122% for the month. Separately, Bitget's August 2026 Protection Fund valuation report recorded an average monthly value of $382 million, backed by 5,500 BTC held as a separate protection reserve.
Bitget publishes both monthly Proof of Reserves and monthly Protection Fund valuation reports — two separate disclosures providing visibility into different parts of the platform's **** et-protection framework. The August PoR reserve ratio of 122% means Bitget's reported reserves for tracked **** ets exceeded the corresponding user balances included in the snapshot. A full per-asset breakdown is available on Bitget's Proof of Reserves page.
A reserve ratio above 100% reflects the position captured in a particular reporting snapshot and should not be interpreted as a financial audit or a guarantee of future solvency.
The Protection Fund's August valuation ranged from approximately $345.3 million on Aug 1, 2026 to $441.5 million on Aug 27, 2026, with an average monthly valuation of $382 million. Its dollar value fluctuates with Bitcoin's market price because the fund is backed by 5,500 BTC. Bitget established the fund in 2022 with an initial $300 million commitment, and its valuation remained above that level throughout August.

Invesco Aerospace & Defense ETF (NYSEMKT:PPA) offers a long track record and broad industrial exposure, while Global X Defense Tech ETF (NYSEMKT:SHLD) provides a lower-cost, technology-focused approach to the defense sector.
Defense spending often stays resilient throughout various economic cycles, making aerospace and defense exchange-traded funds a popular choice for investors seeking sector-specific growth. While both funds target the same broad industry, they differ in their approach to legacy hardware versus emerging technologies and software-defined systems. This comparison looks at how the veteran PPA stacks up against the newer SHLD.

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) spent nearly two years raising anticipation for the Cybercab. When the time arrived on September 3 in Austin, the result was a stock that popped, then rapidly returned all of its gains, and a robotaxi race that still seems to be Alphabet's to lose.
Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) had its long-awaited Cybercab launch event in Austin, Texas, but it was invitation-only, not livestreamed, and CEO Elon Musk wasn't there. The company's main public update was a 51-second video released on X of the two-seat, steering-wheel-free vehicle roaming city streets and people hailing it by app. Shares rose roughly 5% throughout the session, finishing near $376. By September 4, enthusiasm had waned, with the stock plummeting as much as 6% as investors realized how little the event revealed about deployment timelines, production ramp, or regulatory clearance.
Only 45 Cybercabs were registered in Texas, and Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) did not seek an NHTSA exemption before deployment, instead self-certifying the Cybercab as compliant with applicable federal safety standards. NHTSA subsequently opened an audit into that certification and has ordered Tesla to provide additional information about the basis for its compliance claims. CNBC summarized the reaction bluntly: the update "underwhelmed" Wall Street, which had been relying on Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) becoming a strong rival in the robotaxi sector, which Alphabet's Waymo currently leads.
That comparison is at the heart of the story. Waymo has established the operational track record that Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is still chasing: more than 4,000 autonomous vehicles across its U.S. fleet and more than 500,000 fully autonomous rides per week.
Wall Street's take on the incident was severely divided along those lines. Despite Tesla's efforts to control the narrative, some ******* ysts, including Gary Black of Future Fund, called the Cybercab debut largely a bust. Others, such as Deepwater ******* et Management's Gene Munster, predicted that Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) will add approximately 300 Cybercabs in Austin over the next month.

At the beginning of 2026, the biggest question surrounding the Federal Reserve and interest rates was whether the Fed would cut its target rate at some point this year. However, it's become increasingly clear that a rate cut won't happen any time soon. In fact, it's possible that the Fed may increase its benchmark rate before the year is over.
Following the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)'s most recent meeting in July, under the leadership of new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, the committee announced its decision to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 3.50%-3.75%.
In its statement, the committee noted that "inflation remains elevated relative to the Committee's 2 percent goal, in part reflecting supply shocks that have driven price increases in certain sectors, including energy. The Committee will deliver price stability."
The Fed has not cut rates since late 2025, yet interest rates on consumer loans and bank accounts steadily decreased throughout 2026 — at least, until recently. Recent rate increases are a sign that the market is already pricing in a rate hike. And with a few more Fed meetings on the calendar for the remainder of 2026, consumers are wondering how potential rate changes could impact their bottom lines.

Investors choosing between Carnival (NYSE:CCL) and Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) must decide between a capital-intensive cruise leader and a high-growth technology platform. Both companies have shown resilience, but their financial structures offer very different risks.
Carnival operates as a global giant in the travel industry, managing a diverse fleet of ships that cater to millions of vacationers. Uber dominates the gig economy by connecting riders, diners, and shippers with service providers through its proprietary mobile applications and digital infrastructure.
As a major player among consumer discretionary stocks, Carnival operates a massive fleet of over 90 ships across eight distinct brands. In its latest annual report, the company highlighted a workforce of over 160,000 team members who served approximately 13.5 million guests throughout 2025. This scale allows the company to source passengers from major global markets, and notably, no single travel agency group accounted for more than 10% of total revenue during the year.
In FY 2025, revenue reached nearly $26.6 billion, representing a growth rate of roughly 6.4% compared to the prior year. This top-line expansion helped the company generate a net income of approximately $2.8 billion, a significant improvement over the $1.9 billion recorded in 2024. The net margin improved to 10.4%, indicating that the company is successfully converting a larger portion of its sales into actual profit.
Based on its November 2025 balance sheet, Carnival carries a debt-to-equity ratio of 2.3x, which is the total debt divided by shareholder equity. Its current ratio, a measure of current **** ets relative to current liabilities, is nearly 0.3x, suggesting tight short-term liquidity. However, the company generated close to $2.6 billion in free cash flow, which is cash from operations minus capital expenditures, providing capital for debt reduction and fleet maintenance.

Oregon billionaires Phil and Penny Knight committed $1.1 billion to the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and the Providence Heart Institute to build Oregon's first hospital dedicated to women's health, the medical center announced Tuesday.
Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike, and his wife, have supported the institute for more than a decade, previously giving it more than $200 million, including a $75 million gift earlier this year. Along with creating the new women's hospital, their new donation will help the medical center expand cardiovascular care and clinical research and training programs for the heart institute's medical personnel. It will also make it easier to integrate patient care across the medical center.
"Women's health needs change throughout life, and too often patients are asked to navigate multiple specialties and care settings on their own," Ray Moreno, the medical center's CEO, said in a statement. "The Knights' gift is an opportunity to bring these resources together, expanding access for women across Oregon and creating a strong foundation to bridge care gaps in women's health."
The donation is particularly significant because it comes at a moment when U.S. hospitals are seeing far more pregnant patients who are also managing chronic health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, addiction, and behavioral and mental health issues. It also lands at the same time healthcare organizations are struggling with the impact of government funding cuts.
"Resources are scarce, and healthcare is increasingly looking to philanthropy to fill in the gaps," Dan Oseran, the heart institute's executive medical director, told the Chronicle. "A gift like this reduces that friction a little bit and provides the ability to do things we wouldn't otherwise be able to do."

Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) has been one of the quieter top-performing investments throughout the AI arms race. If you invested $5,000 at the start of the AI arms race in 2023, that sum is now worth more than $32,000. However, investors must look forward, not backward. Luckily, Broadcom's future is brighter than ever, and I think a $5,000 investment now could lead to a much larger sum later.
While it won't be able to repeat the incredible performance it gave investors over the past three and a half years, I think it's still worth buying now.

The Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers to start the 2026 season with a win, but 29 of their points came in the final 17 minutes of the game. Plenty of questions surround the Vikings, and they don't solely revolve around the quarterback position.
Brian Flores' defense overwhelmed the Packers in the fourth quarter, but there were far too many wide-open Green Bay receivers throughout the day. Minnesota's offense did enough to win, but it will need more consistency moving forward so it isn't clawing its way back late in games.
The next opponent further amplifies these concerns. Next week, the Vikings travel to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears, who beat the Carolina Panthers 59-37 on Sunday. Minnesota will need to tighten things up so that they aren't involved in a shootout they can't keep up in.
Kyler Murray's long-awaited Vikings debut was cut short when he left the game with a concussion suffered in the first quarter. Carson Wentz replaced him, completing 12/19 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns, doing enough to keep the offense on schedule.
But Murray's availability is already in question for next week. On Monday, Adam Schefter reported that "it looks like" Wentz will start next Sunday against the Bears, as Murray remains in concussion protocol.

Dejounte Murray believes that Russell Westbrook is the greatest point guard of all time originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Russell Westbrook shocked the basketball world when he announced his retirement in the summer of 2026. That ended one of the best careers of the modern era, especially for a point guard. Unfortunately for Westbrook, he did not win a championship, but it seems his legacy is doing well amongst his peers.
Dejounte Murray is a standout point guard over the past few years, and he is never shy about giving his thoughts. This time, he made sure to give the Oklahoma City Thunder legend his flowers, to the point that he is calling the 2017 MVP the greatest point guard of all time.
Throughout his career, Murray has looked up to a lot of players. Now that he is with the New Orleans Pelicans, Murray has integrated plenty of lessons he's learned from a lot of top-tier point guards in the league's history. For him, Westbrook is at the peak of the position he plays.
Westbrook has an all-time legacy, but a lot of people would argue that he is not better than some players like Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Stephen Curry, who are considered by many as the greatest point guards in NBA history.

Why Fever-Lynx doubleheader could decide WNBA's No. 1 seed originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Minnesota Lynx have spent most of the 2026 season looking like the WNBA's team to beat. Finishing the job will not be simple. Minnesota returns from the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup break with a league-best 31-9 record. The Lynx have already clinched a playoff berth, but they have not secured the No. 1 seed or home-court advantage throughout the postseason.
Golden State sits only two games behind Minnesota at 29-11. The Lynx own the head-to-head tiebreaker, giving them control of the race, but their final four games are considerably more difficult than the Valkyries' remaining schedule.
Minnesota hosts the New York Liberty on Friday before visiting the eliminated Connecticut Sun. The season then could be decided by two games against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever over three days. The Lynx visit Indiana on Sept. 22 and host the Fever in the regular-season finale Sept. 24.
The playoff math is straightforward.

Ole Miss news: Pete Golding's NSFW comment says it all about Kiffin return appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Perhaps the biggest game of the Week 3 slate in college football is Lane Kiffin and LSU football heading to play against Pete Golding and Ole Miss. The villainous nature of Lane Kiffin is well documented. After leaving the Rebels last season before the playoffs, he allegedly left his dog behind while also trying to bring Ole Miss players to LSU. After all that, he tried to bring in players who were on NFL rosters in the offseason, and LSU ended up being sued. Now, Kiffin is returning to Ole Miss for a Week 3 game, looking for revenge.
As the game between Ole Miss and LSU approaches, Rebels head coach Pete Golding is summing up what it is like to welcome Kiffin back to town, per Trey Wallace.
"To me, it's like high school homecoming for these dudes. Like, if you focus on the wrong s**t, that homecoming dance ain't very fun after you get your **** beat on a Friday night. So we got to make sure we're doing everything right throughout the week to get the outcome that we want," Golding said.

An Ohio congresswoman is facing major blowback online after suggesting that lynchings are on the rise in the United States, despite that claim being widely debunked last week.
"In the last year, there's been an alarming increase in Black Americans found dead hanging from trees. We know what that has meant throughout our history," said Rep. Shontel Brown, D-Ohio, on X. "That's why I've joined [Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.] to demand a federal investigation into possible lynchings."
Fox News Digital reviewed some high-profile cases after Pressley's letter to the DOJ demanding "thorough, transparent, and comprehensive federal investigation into every hanging death of a Black individual across the United States." Packers news: Will Jordan Love survive Green Bay's o-line? Dan Orlovsky has concerns appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After allowing 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers suffered a 39-22 Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. While there were some bright spots throughout the contest, one notable weakness was the pass protection. It was so poor that former quarterback turned NFL ***** yst Dan Orlovsky revealed he's concerned about Jordan Love for the rest of the season.
During ESPN's pregame show for "Monday Night Football," Orlovsky implored that the Packers' offensive line has to improve. If not, the club's 27-year-old signal-caller may not survive the 2026-27 campaign.
"He won't survive," Orlovsky said. "This offensive line, if they don't get better, [Jordan Love] won't survive. The only reason it's even a game is because he was sensational early on. I mean, just unbelievable throw after unbelievable throw… I think the most concerning thing is it was, overall, team-wise, [a] very undisciplined performance… [A] divisional opponent that [Matt] LaFleur and them should know better.

The San Francisco Giants have endured the bad, the worse and the ugly throughout a 2026 campaign that started with high hopes and landed with bleak realities.
The Giants have been among the most disappointing teams in Major League Baseball this season. There was optimism in San Francisco when the team brought in first-year manager Tony Vitello from the college ranks with no previous MLB experience. Many experts predicted that the Giants would win 82 games and maybe even sneak into a wild-card berth. It would have been the most success the team has seen in nearly a half decade.
Then the season began and things shifted immediately. San Francisco isn't anywhere near discussions of making a postseason appearance. Instead, the Giants have the second-worst record in the National League (only the division-rival Colorado Rockies have a worse record).
The Giants haven't had the play they were expecting on the diamond. The Giants lacked depth in the bullpen, dealt with a series of injuries which contorted lineups, and key players just looked like a shell of themselves through large parts of the season. Vitello has been ejected from multiple games this season. Frustration has settled in San Francisco like fog covering the Golden Gate Bridge.
It's since seemed like a salvageable season after seeing younger prospects such as Bryce Eldridge see the field more. After a sluggish start, Rafael Devers found his bat as of late and is nearing a 40-homer season. There are few positive takeaways from the Giants this year, which leaves a little excitement for the next season.

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur says he's open to making changes to an offensive line that had no answers for Minnesota's furious pass rush during another fourth-quarter collapse.
But he noted the importance of settling on a starting five soon to build cohesiveness. Green Bay's offensive line was a major concern throughout training camp, in part because injuries prevented the projected starters from working together very often.
"Whatever we do, we need to make sure that we find continuity as quickly as possible," LaFleur said Monday, a day after the Packers' 39-22 loss to the Vikings. "I think that's part of the problem, is we've had a lot of guys in and out of the lineup. I'm not making excuses. It is what it is. You've got to find a way to get it done.
"But I do think the more guys play together, typically the better they play together."
The offensive line's failings played a major role in Green Bay blowing a 22-10 lead, continuing a habit that haunted the Packers last season.

For much of the past year, the "AI trade" has been focused on infrastructure: processors, data centers, and cloud capacity. Snowflake Inc. (NYSE:SNOW)'s blowout quarter, which was reported after the market closed on September 2, provided something unique: clear evidence that AI is translating into real, incremental spending within software companies that are closer to the end customer. The reaction echoed throughout corporate software the next morning, adding to a rally that, for Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) in particular, had already begun for its own reasons.
Snowflake Inc. (NYSE:SNOW) boosted its fiscal 2027 product revenues target to $6.07 billion from $5.84 billion, following a 37% increase in second-quarter product revenue to $1.49 billion. CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy stated that the company's AI products accounted for around half of that growth acceleration, which ****** ysts took as implying that AI demand is increasing Snowflake's core data platform, instead of just adoption of standalone AI add-ons. UBS ****** yst Karl Keirstead said the figures, together with Palantir and Databricks' rapid growth, gave compelling proof of robust enterprise AI adoption.
Snowflake's beat rippled across enterprise software, with ServiceNow, Atlassian, Adobe, Intuit, and Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) all up 3.5% to 6% on the same day, while the sector-wide iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF rose 3%.
That Snowflake-driven spike was piled on top of a much bigger adjustment made by Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) on its own. The company released its second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 26, a week before Snowflake Inc. (NYSE:SNOW), with revenue of $11.35 billion, up 11% year-over-year, with current remaining performance obligations up 14% to $33.5 billion and adjusted EPS of $5.90, exceeding the $3.27 consensus. Along with those results, Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce, an expanded partnership that initially brings Salesforce data, workflows and business logic directly into Claude through a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills. The companies plan additional integrations across Claude, Salesforce and Slack. That said, Salesforce recorded $2.61 billion in net gains on strategic investments during the quarter, which added $2.53 per share to non-GAAP EPS.
Taken together, the two events suggest that enterprise AI adoption can increase the value and consumption of established software platforms when AI is connected to existing corporate data and workflows

Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Of routes run in Week 1 for Dalton Kincaid, higher than any mark in 2025. This is good for most TEs, but incredible and notable for Kincaid. As a first-round TE talent, Kincaid has been limited throughout his career due to run blocking and injuries. Last season before his knee injury, he was right at 60% of the routes, good enough to be a mid-level TE1, although not ideal. After the injury, it dropped to 44%. If a ~70% route share holds, Kincaid can be the TE value of the year. His yards per route were top-three in the NFL (not just TE) and he is a part of one of the best offenses in the league. He had a nice start to the season with 130 receiving yards against the Texans defense.
The RB target split for Bucky Irving compared to Kenny Gainwell in Week 1 (and would've been eight without penalties). Gainwell was a backup RB that wasn't a focus of the offense, with only 18% of snaps resulting in a touch (Irving: 47%). Not to mention, Irving got both red-zone carries, one resulting in a touchdown. Sean Tucker is still out for now, but Irving looks to be a workhorse RB with elite receiving potential.
Gold opportunities for Chuba Hubbard: two red-zone targets and a goal-line attempt. They're the best opportunities for a touchdown for a RB, and it resulted in two here. Chicago's defense may need some help, but the workload should keep him as a weekly play as long as he holds off Jonathon Brooks. With 71% of the RB touches, anybody can have value. Before his injury last season, Hubbard began the 2025 season with nearly 20 touches per game over the first few weeks. I trust the stability of his volume going into Week 2 as a central role of the red-zone offense.

Chances are you're going to be sifting through the options off the waiver wire on a week-to-week basis if you don't have a solid option. Here, we'll go over Justin Boone's favorite kickers to stream for Week 2 based off what's in his big waiver wire column.

A former No. 9 overall pick from UConn, Kemba Walker put together the strongest career in franchise history to this point. While Walker is famous for wearing the No. 15, he wore the No. 1 during his rookie season with the Charlotte Bobcats. Over his career with the franchise, Walker would play eight seasons in Charlotte, averaging 19.8 points, 5.5 **** ists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks in 605 appearances.
Following his time with the Hornets, he'd land with the Boston Celtics in a sign-and-trade deal that brought Terry Rozier to Charlotte. After two seasons in Boston, Walker would play a season for the New York Knicks and finish his NBA career after nine games for the Dallas Mavericks. In 12 seasons total, Walker played 750 games while averaging 19.3 points, 5.3 **** ists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.4 blocks. He now works with the Hornets as a player development coach and has opened up "Kemba Walker Sports Academy" in Concord, North Carolina.
Throughout the season, Rookie Wire is documenting the jersey number history of the Charlotte Hornets

AUBURN — Both Da'Shawn Womack and CK Murray are expected to see the field when Auburn football when it hosts Florida for its SEC-opener this weekend, head coach Alex Golesh said Monday, Sept. 14.
Neither Womack nor Murray played in Auburn's home-opener against Southern Miss last weekend after Golesh provided health updates on both throughout the week.
"Those guys both practiced this morning, and we anticipate having them both," Golesh said. "It was a push to get them both back last week. I don't know if you saw, I had to get Womack out of my way about 20 times on the sideline (against Southern Miss). I kept telling everybody he was 'Coach Wo' on the sideline, and he (was). He brought a really cool energy. So did CK, which I was proud of both those kids for."
TIME, TV: When does Auburn football play Florida this week?
Transferring from Ole Miss to Auburn this offseason, Womack had 27 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble for the Rebels last year. Murray played in all 12 of Auburn's games last fall, posting 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Prior to that, Murray spent three seasons at Sam Houston.

After briefly exiting Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach Liam Coen fully expects wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. to be available in Week 2 against Denver -- although he may be limited during the week of upcoming practices.
"I fully imagine him being able to play this game," Coen said on Monday. "No issues, just might not be able to get hit throughout the week or something."
Thomas Jr. left the Jaguars' Week 1 win in the first half with a shoulder injury. He was initially questionable to return, but did go back into the game.
Thomas Jr. finished the game with three receptions for 40 yards.
He also sustained a shoulder injury in the Jaguars' first joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whether or not that injury and the current one are related has not been reported.
