On September 17, Ferrari N.V. (NYSE:RACE) announced a partnership with the technology company Rakuten Group, Inc., effective January 1, 2027. The announcement gives no scope and no price tag, so it works better as a signal than as a number. The real substance sits in the results Ferrari posted on July 30, when it raised its 2026 guidance because buyers are ordering more personalization than the company expected.
In the second quarter, revenue rose 8%, but operating profit rose 10%, which means each euro of sales is leaving more behind. Ferrari credits a richer mix of cars, with the F80 helping, along with more buyers paying up for personalization. Strip out currency swings, and the gap widens, with revenue up 11% and operating profit up 16%. Deliveries of the Purosangue and the 296 Speciale family grew even in the middle of a planned model changeover.
Cash and demand back that up. Industrial free cash flow jumped 39% to €276 million, and Ferrari also returned more than €800 million to shareholders through a dividend and buybacks. Deliveries totaled 3,366 cars while the 296 GTS, Roma Spider and SF90 XX family wound down, and sponsorship, commercial and brand revenue grew just 2%. And the whole outlook leans on current visibility into the Middle East crisis, which Ferrari cannot control.

Guidance for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, ending October 31, calls for revenue of $486 million to $487 million and a swing to positive GAAP operating margin, with full fiscal 2027 non-GAAP operating margin guided to roughly 19.4%, up from 16.2% in the quarter just reported.

In XRP news today, its 30-day liquidity index on Binance has climbed to 0.0675, the highest reading in about six months. Its 30-day turnover recovered to approximately $4.6 billion after sinking to between $2 billion and $3 billion during July and August.
The rebound signals that XRP liquidity conditions have meaningfully improved, but a deeper order book supports both accumulation and distribution equally well, and is leaving the question of which side actually controls this market unanswered.
The liquidity index measures how easily traders can move XRP in and out of positions without moving the price against themselves, calculated against how quickly XRP turns over relative to what Binance holds on its books. A rising reading means faster turnover and tighter execution, which is exactly what the data shows.
XRP closed August up about 28.5%, its strongest August performance since 2021, while U.S. spot XRP ETF products pulled in $153.55 million of inflows that month.
Now, the flow data from the end of last week complicates a clean bullish read. More than 91 million XRP moved into Binance on the 11th, and over 113 million XRP moved out, both six-month highs in single-day volume. Elastic added more customers with annual contract value above $100,000 than in any prior quarter, pushing that cohort past 1,800 from over 1,720 in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 and over 1,550 a year earlier. Net expansion rate held around 111%, and the company generated $143 million in adjusted free cash flow during the quarter. Guidance for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, ending October 31, calls for revenue of $486 million to $487 million and a swing to positive GAAP operating margin, with full fiscal 2027 non-GAAP operating margin guided to roughly 19.4%, up from 16.2% in the quarter just reported.
Growth came with a reminder that Elastic has not fully crossed into GAAP profitability. The company posted a GAAP operating loss of $24 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, a -5% operating margin, and a GAAP net loss per share of $0.16. Non-GAAP figures told a healthier story, with $77 million in non-GAAP operating income and $0.70 in non-GAAP diluted earnings per share, but the gap between the two measures shows how much of Elastic's reported profitability still depends on excluding real costs like stock-based compensation.

This one had everything. Troy Melton struggled and got knocked out early, but the bullpen managed to bend without breaking. Meanwhile, the young Tigers hitters were centre stage as they fought back repeatedly with good at-bats late in this one. Kenley Jansen picked up his 496th major league save to wrap up the victory.
Monday night's first of three at the Rogers Centre featured Melton against right-hander José Soriano. The Blue Jays have had almost as strange a season as the Tigers. Struggling through the first half, they moved long time top starter Kevin Gausman, but acquired Soriano at the deadline as well, and have kept themselves in the thick of the wild card race.
Things didn't start off too well as the Tigers quickly went 1-2-3 in the first, and Melton immediately dug himself a hole. Brett Bateman led off by slashing a single the opposite way past a diving Hao-Yu Lee for a leadoff single. The San Francisco Giants have endured the bad, the worse and the ugly throughout a 2026 campaign that started with high hopes and landed with bleak realities.
The Giants have been among the most disappointing teams in Major League Baseball this season. There was optimism in San Francisco when the team brought in first-year manager Tony Vitello from the college ranks with no previous MLB experience. Many experts predicted that the Giants would win 82 games and maybe even sneak into a wild-card berth. It would have been the most success the team has seen in nearly a half decade.
Then the season began and things shifted immediately. San Francisco isn't anywhere near discussions of making a postseason appearance. Instead, the Giants have the second-worst record in the National League (only the division-rival Colorado Rockies have a worse record).
The Giants haven't had the play they were expecting on the diamond. The Giants lacked depth in the bullpen, dealt with a series of injuries which contorted lineups, and key players just looked like a shell of themselves through large parts of the season. Texas volleyball has shown flashes of brilliance through the first three weeks of the season.
It has been swept (Louisville, Nebraska) and it brought out the brooms themselves (TCU, USC). The Longhorns won the fourth set against No. 8 SMU 28-26, but ended up losing the match in the fifth set.
The final game before conference play was a 3-1 win against No. 6 Wisconsin and it is probably, statistically, Texas' best game. Head coach Jerritt Elliott called it "the most organized and dialed-in that we've been all season long.
"We've had about three and a half total practices, so we're just trying to kind of get a rhythm," Elliott said after the match Sunday afternoon.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom does not like being on Donald Trump's side on any issue.
But when it comes to transgender girls and women in sports, particularly at the school level, the Democrat said he largely agrees with the Republican president. Newsom, one of his party's leading White House prospects, believes it's "deeply unfair" for people who are ***** igned male at birth to compete against girls.
"I don't want to be on that side of it, but I'm being honest — I'd be lying to you if I said differently," Newsom told The ***** ociated Press as he was campaigning recently in South Carolina. "I haven't been able to figure out how to make it fair from my perspective."
Newsom is not alone.
While most Democratic officials remain steadfast supporters of the transgender community, an increasing number in red and blue states are distancing themselves from their party's unflinching support for the transgender community's policy priorities, such as allowing athletes to compete on teams that match their gender identity. The shift follows years of conservative attacks against Democrats on the divisive issue, which affects a relatively small number of transgender people and their families, but has emerged as one of Republicans' most potent political weapons in the Trump era.

Helen Mirren would rather turn to artificial intelligence than visit the doctor.
The 81-year-old actress revealed she "totally" avoids doctors while speaking to Entertainment Weekly at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she was promoting her new thriller, A Talent for Murder.
Mirren was joined by costars Alden Ehrenreich and Olivia Cooke, who described themselves as hypochondriacs while discussing how they bonded on set.
Mirren, however, joked that she was the "opposite of hypochondria," adding, "I just completely ignore everything."
When Ehrenreich, 36, asked if that meant she avoided doctors, Mirren replied: "Totally deny. I avoid doctors. Oh no, totally. And it's working."

The crux of Amodei's argument is that AI using recursive self-improvement "could outrun our ability to understand and control these systems, and so must be pursued very carefully, if at all."
In order to prevent future harms, Amodei said frontier AI companies should commit to embedding third-party evaluators in their organizations that can **** s their AI models and confirm the labs' "adherence to safety practices and commitments, report incidents, and help **** s the alignment of not just completed AI models but training pipelines and processes."

Investigators looking into Hayden Panettiere's death are reportedly focusing on a single pill they believe contained fentanyl.
Multiple law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation told TMZ that Panettiere took what she believed was oxycodone on the morning of Aug. 16, the day she died at age 36. Their working theory is that the pill had been laced with fentanyl.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office has not announced Panettiere's cause or manner of death, and toxicology results remain pending. TMZ's sources themselves cautioned that their theory still depends on those results.

The finest element of the U.S. Open — the Grand Slam held in the largest tennis stadium in the world — will always be the tennis itself. Ben Shelton and Alexander Zverev did their very best on Sunday, bringing both narrative and firepower to the four-set men's final. Yes, the influencers were posing at every aisle on every changeover, and more than a few fans appeared unclear on the basic concept of "sit your ******* down while the point is going on." But when Shelton and Zverev locked in, unleashing serves that nearly hit 150 mph or lashing shots that skipped a fingernail's width in bounds, the crowd was right there with them, rising and falling, a living thing that pulsed with energy unlike any other stadium in tennis.
Less than 24 hours earlier on the same court, Elena Rybakina finished off Aryna Sabalenka in a three-set triumph of resolve and willpower over emotion and firepower. Sabalenka, who had won the previous two Opens, entered as the crowd favorite. But the fans in the stands at Arthur Ashe love hard-fought on-court battles as much as they love the endless scroll of celebrity cameos on the video boards. So after a couple dozen Hollywood and music stars took their turns to varying volumes of applause, the crowd focused in on the match. Sabalenka drew motivational cheers, and then, once the result was clear, Rybakina inspired celebratory ones.

Dell's stock soared 12% on Sept. 11, while HPE was another of the index's best performers. Investors quickly saw the connection: Oracle needs plenty of servers, networking gear, and other data center hardware to keep up with surging AI demand.
Oracle's fiscal first-quarter results supported this trend. Total revenue rose 30% to $19.3 billion, while cloud infrastructure revenue surged 121% to $7.4 billion. Even more impressive, remaining performance obligations rose $209 billion to $664 billion.
That backlog presents a potential strong read-through for Dell and HPE.
But there is another side to this tale. The businesses fueling the AI boom are more and more fixated on the costs of borrowing and the next actions by the Federal Reserve as they pour unusual amounts of resources into building enough data centers to translate Oracle's contracts into income.

The two-hour live event will feature Winfrey with special guests and performances, including multiple Grammy winner Jacob Collier, poet and author Ocean Vuong, musician Ajeet and gospel singer Wintley Phipps. Among all-star collaborators crafting the experience with Winfrey are Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter, Grammy-nominated musicians Jason White and Jon Hopkins, playwright and MacArthur "genius grant" recipient Tarell Alvin McCraney and Es Devlin, the stage designer for Beyoncé's "Formation" and "Renaissance" world tours. Tickets go on sale to the general public Sept. 25.

You don't put up 60+ points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1915 without a total team effort. But even then some Bulldogs are bound to distinguish themselves. Those valiant warriors in Red and Black are your MVDs, the Most Valuable Dawgs from Georgia's 70-20 victory over Western Kentucky.
Offense: Gunner Stockton. There's no point in overthinking this one. Gunner finished 13 of 16 for 234 yards passing and 5 touchdowns in a shade under two quarters of work. That's downright surgical in its efficiency. If he can continue to carve up defenses that way in the SEC schedule, the Bulldog offense is heading for a big year.
Defense:Chris Cole. Like most of the Bulldog starters Cole took limited snaps, but while he was in he was all over the Hilltopper offense. Cole finished with 3 tackles, 2 of them solo stops, and got consistent pass rush pressure both inside and outside. It was a really solid, consistent effort for the physically gifted linebacker.
Special teams: AJ Kruah. Kruah also led the team in tackles, by the way, but his forced fumble on the game's opening play set the tone for the day. On a day when Kirby Smart specifically called out his second and third teamers for not being prepared to play, Kruah absolutely came ready to work.

The North Carolina Tar Heels completed their home opener by doing exactly what they needed to do: they easily beat an inferior opponent to improve their record to 2-0. Credit to ETSU for bring a lot of energy to the game, but ultimately they were outmatched from start to finish.
The first quarter opened up with the Tar Heels going three and out thanks to two dropped passes thrown by Billy Edwards, Jr. The Heels were quickly able to make up for it by grabbing an interception thrown by ETSU quarterback, Mason Mims, which led to UNC immediately marching down the field for a touchdown. Jelani Thurman was a bit part of the drive's success, and ultimately caught a 24-yard pass to get into the end zone.
On the Buccaneers' next drive, they were able to chip away at UNC's defense to get to mid-field, but ultimately they weren't able to do enough to finish the drive. They punted and managed to back UNC up to their own end zone, but the quarter finished with UNC moving the ball into safer territory. When the second quarter opened, the Heels proceeded to move the ball down the field, and Edwards was able to find Benjamin Hall for a 26-yard touchdown.
The Buccaneers continued to chip away at UNC's defense, but they continually shot themselves in the foot. A touchdown was negated by a holding call, there was a face mask call after that, and then when they were pushed all the way back to 3rd and 28, the Heels stood tall and were able to get the ball back. They were able to complete another touchdown drive to increase their lead to 21-0 before halftime.
The second half opened with ETSU immediately coughing up the football, which led to a touchdown scored by Demon June. The Buccaneers were without answers from there — despite continuing to gain yards, their inability to finish drives remained constant, and the Heels were able to go up 35-0 before a game delay due to lightning in the area.

The Houston Texans host the Buffalo Bills in Week One this season, and they'll be looking for their third consecutive home victory over Buffalo in the series between these two AFC foes. Buffalo lost close games at NRG Stadium in each of the last two seasons, dropping a 23-20 decision during the 2024 season and a 23-19 contest last year.

California football is on display in their ACC-opener, as the Golden Bears travel across the country, nearly 2,500 miles, entering a Week 2 matchup with Syracuse at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Cal is still in search of getting its first tally in the win column for first-year head coach Tosh Lupoi following their Week 1 loss against UCLA, 45-24.
There were many things to look back on for Cal between what went wrong, what went right and what they could've done better to give themselves a fighter's chance at taking down UCLA.

NEW DELHI: Social media has found a fun new way to bring the 1980s back, with AI turning modern-day pictures into vintage portraits. The trend has now reached the Indian cricket team, with several players enjoying a hilarious surprise ahead of their T20I series against Afghanistan in Delhi.
Two days before the series, the Indian players gathered at their hotel for a photo session. But before it began, they found a table filled with AI-generated pictures of themselves.
The portraits, featured in a video shared by the BCCI, showed the players in classic 1980s looks, complete with bell-bottom jeans, big sunglasses and retro hairstyles.
India allrounder Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma picked up the portraits and burst out laughing as they showed them to their teammates. Jasprit ****** rah also joined in the fun.
Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar, Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube checked out their retro pictures and appeared amused by their new 1980s avatars.
