Caitríona Balfe joined her co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones for the Sense and Sensibility LA premiere, held at The United Theater on Wednesday.
Earl Gibson III/Deadline via Getty Images
The Irish actress wore a custom Prada pearl-grey silk-wool column dress with an embroidered carré extending into a geometric train in black cotton organza, a detail drawn from the Fall 2026 collection.
The column silhouette and fabric are classic Prada, but it's the embroidered carré cascading into that black train that introduces a romantic element, making this an appropriate choice for a Jane Austen adaptation. I particularly love the contrast between the grey dress and the sheer black overlay.
We could be nitpicky and say the dress needed to be half an inch shorter to avoid that slight break at the hem. We could also question the visible darts, although they're a familiar Prada detail. But despite those minor issues, Caitríona is selling this look to me.

Sophie Okonedo is one of my favourite celebrities, so I was delighted to see her back on the red carpet for the Clarissa press tour. However, while looking back at her appearances today, I realised that I completely missed her at the film's Cannes Film Festival premiere. So that is where I'm going to start.
Earl Gibson III/Deadline via Getty Images
Since Sophie has always had an affinity for simple silhouettes with dramatic accents, this custom Dior feather-trimmed dress made perfect sense for her.
What I appreciate most is that the feathers aren't treated as an embellishment confined to one area. They trace the asymmetric neckline before sweeping around the skirt and into the train, giving the black dress the kind of personality Sophie's red carpet looks tend to have. It's glamorous, but still feels entirely within her wheelhouse.
I think the new hair colour and style may have been the reason she slipped under my radar in Cannes. I'm so accustomed to seeing Sophie with her signature cornrows that I genuinely didn't recognise her at first.

Nick Nolte was once voted 'sexiest man alive' and is still acting on screen today, but his acting legacy didn't stop there: both of his children – despite being decades apart in age – have pursued their father's footsteps onto the screen.
Nick's son Brawley has acted in several projects
Nick Nolte's son Brawley was born on June 20 1986 to Nick and ex-model Rebecca Linger. He's followed in his father's footsteps, acting in several projects between 1996 and 2012. He first appeared in Mother Night, followed by his best known role as Mel Gibson's kidnapped son in 1996 thriller Ransom.
He last appeared in 2012 comedy short film The Attendant. Brawley has been married to TV actress
Navi Rawat since 2012, with whom he shares a daughter.

Tyrese Gibson's ongoing custody battle with his ex-wife has taken another turn, with the actor now seeking an arrest warrant against Samantha Lee Gibson over allegations that she violated their parenting agreement by moving their daughter across the country.
According to court documents that TMZ obtained, the Fast & Furious star alleges that Samantha's decision to relocate their daughter, Soraya, from Georgia to Oregon in September 2025 was "premeditated." He also accuses her of failing to facilitate visitation, despite a parenting agreement the former couple had reached just one month before the move.
Samantha isn't backing down. She has opposed the warrant, maintaining that she has primary custody of Soraya and accusing Tyrese of misrepresenting the circumstances surrounding their daughter's relocation. According to her response, Tyrese knew about the move well in advance, and she never attempted to conceal her plans.
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
But the disagreement over Soraya's move began well before the latest filing. In August 2025, Samantha informed Tyrese that she intended to relocate to Oregon, explaining that the decision followed considerable prayer and reflection. She also suggested that living closer to his Los Angeles home could make extended visits easier.

First-inning runs alone won't get you over the line most of the time. Stopping at a pair of early solo shots—at least until the ninth inning—the Dodgers' offense left a lot to be desired in a 4-3 loss to the Marlins, as Tyler Glasnow went through plenty of issues in his shortest regular start of the season (4+ IP). The hard-throwing right-hander walked four and seldom looked in rhythm.
Beginning with a bang, the Dodgers made a statement against Tyler Phillips in the first, taking a 2-0 lead with back-to-back long ****** from Mookie Betts and Max Muncy—the one from Betts had special value, given it represented the 10,000th home run in Los Angeles Dodgers history. The problem is that this so-called statement was left at that, with the offense failing to record another hit in Phillips' three-plus innings of work, pitching with a short leash.
By the time Phillips was removed from the game in the fourth, the Marlins had already taken the lead courtesy of a three-run second against Glasnow. Josue De Paula came back from down in the count to earn a walk against Phillips in the fourth, enough for the Marlins to make the call to the bullpen and bring in left-hander Cade Gibson to retire Hunter Feduccia.
The Dodgers trailed at this early point because Tyler Glasnow seemed to be swimming against the tide for the better part of this one, meshing small periods of dominance with worrisome rallies. After squeezing his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, Glasnow coughed up three runs in the second. The damage started with a two-run shot from Graham Pauley and later on with three straight singles, the last one an RBI knock from Otto Lopez.
It then looked like Glasnow would figure things out with clean innings in the third and fourth, including striking out the side in the latter, but that calmness was short-lived. Walking the first two batters of the fifth, Glasnow was removed, recording just 12 outs and leaving quite a mess for Jack Dreyer, who did himself no favors by loading the bases with an 0-2 HBP. In what felt like a pivotal inning for the Dodgers to remain in this game, they caught all the breaks—an errant throw from Mookie Betts on a routine grounder was snagged by Alex Freeland, preventing multiple runners from scoring, and in the following at-bat, Kyle Tucker flashed the leather with a smooth sliding grab to keep everyone at their stations. With one out, Dreyer induced a timely double play as Agustin Ramírez absolutely smoked a groundball right at Betts. And just like that, the score was at a still manageable 4-2 deficit.

The Virginia Cavaliers did not mess around on Friday night, taking care of Norfolk State, 59-3. As expected, the 'Hoos overmatched the Spartans for 60 minutes, allowing all sorts of reserves to get live reps in the second half.
Three different UVA quarterbacks threw touchdown passes. Beau Pribula, who played the first two quarters, was once again ultra efficient, throwing for 162 yards on 12-of-14 passing with three touchdowns. Of note, Pribula did not have a single designed rushing attempt; offensive coordinator Des Kitchings chose to keep him upright and allow him to sling the rock from the pocket instead.
Backups Eli Holstein and Cole Geer ultimately had limited passing attempts, but both had one impressive throw to build on. Holstein opened the second half with a beautiful goal line fade to Ty'Lyric Coleman in the back corner of the end zone, while Geer found high school teammate Williem Thurber on a tight window up the seam for 28 yards in the fourth.
At the skill positions, wide receiver Jacquon Gibson got himself on the board with two touchdown catches from Pribula, after failing to reach the end zone a single time with UMass in 2025. Meanwhile, sophomore Xay Davis showcased his burst out of the backfield, totaling 107 ticks on 13 attempts.
On the defensive end, Kam Robinson made his way back to the field (in a limited capacity), a welcomed sight for the Cavalier faithful. The first-team secondary looked particularly strong, with Brandyn Hillman hauling in his second and third interceptions of the season, and Jacobie Henderson displaying some playmaking ability of his own. Sophomore linebacker Justin Rowe added a pick six in the final minutes for good measure.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the New Orleans Pelicans are sending Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy, a future second-round pick, and a future second-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies for AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson.
The main reason for this trade is pretty simple: New Orleans needed to clear salary before officially adding Bennedict Mathurin on his two-year, $16.0 million deal. Because the Pelicans are using the non-taxpayer mid-level exception to sign him, they can't finish above the first apron afterward, so they had to open enough room under that line first. Memphis is basically getting paid to help the Pelicans clean up the payroll, and I think the Grizzlies did very well here.
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy, future second-round pick, future second-round pick (swap)
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: AJ Johnson, Taj Gibson
Hawkins is making $7.0 million this season, and Peavy is at $2.2 million, so New Orleans moves roughly $9.2 million in salary. Johnson costs only $3.2 million, while Gibson's $3.8 million salary isn't guaranteed yet, so he's gone from $0 to $200K in the trade, as the Pelicans are likely to waive him. Mathurin's first-year salary will be about $7.8 million on the two-year deal he agreed to last month.

Pop icon Debbie Gibson is celebrating almost four decades of her legendary pop smash 'Shake Your Love.' The singer recently posted a video of herself performing the chart-topping 1987 hit, and fans have some pretty strong opinions about this clip.
Earlier this week, Gibson shared a message on Instagram, writing, "Happy 39th anniversary Shake Your Love! Thanks for shakin' it with us yesterday, Rockhampton, Australia."
Even though fans (scratch that, critics) didn't have much to say about the caption, they were quick to bash the video. Why? The 56-year-old former teen queen struts, or rather shakes, her stuff wearing a teeny tiny one-piece romper. Cue the controversy.
While Gibson looks just as fabulous as she did four decades ago, critics flocked to her post, dragging the celeb's barely-there ensemble.
"Why does every singer wear this sort of thing…what's wrong with a nice dress!" wrote one commenter. But the unwelcome critique didn't stop there. Others piled on, writing, "FYI. You can still look young and hot but with pants", "Wear a cute jean or something…", "What's with the outfit? Deb, you're not in the 90s dress era," and "She looks great for age but I don't love the outfit, just saying. Everyone is entitled to their opinion."

Just before the transfer window closed, Bayern Munich academy players Luis Schäfer and Nana Gibson Adu moved on to pastures anew.
Bayern's official website confirmed Schäfer's departure. The center back came off of a fairly good 2025/26 season, in which he captained the U-19s and subsequently moved up to the U-23s. Filip Pavic's rising star, however, saw him relegated to a distant bench option for the Bavarians' second team and, after starting in the first match of the season, he has not gotten a minute in the 4 games since. One can presume he left for partner club SpVgg Unterhaching to get more game time, which puts an end to his 9 years at the FC Bayern Campus. Good luck in your future endeavors, Schäfer!
Meanwhile, Nana Gibson Adu's time at Bayern was much shorter. In fact, the striker came from Unterhaching at the start of their partnership with Bayern. He was seen as a huge talent and had already played in the 3. Liga at the tender age of 16. Unfortunately, Gibson Adu committed several disciplinary infractions and never really developed at Bayern. In 2025, a loan to Austrian club SCR Altach went through on deadline day but he had to return just two weeks later after he was denied a playing permit by UEFA. Bayern wanted nothing more to do with him, though, and banished him out on loan back to Unterhaching as soon as November that same year.
Now, iMiaSanMia_GER captures the news that he has permanently left Munich to go to fourth division side Greifswalder FC for a two year deal with an option for another year. Good luck, Gibson Adu.

Mel Gibson has issued an apology for his behavior during a public event amid mounting backlash. During his recent appearance at FanExpo Canada, Gibson mocked an ASL interpreter as he walked onto the stage for his retrospective Q&A. The video quickly went viral online. Users called out Gibson for his insensitive behaviour, for which Gibson has since issued an apology.
The moment, as caught on camera, saw Mel Gibson enter the spotlight on stage and begin making gibberish symbols with his hands, with the ASL interpreter standing right in front of him, with his back to her. The moment was brief, but fans found it to be in poor taste anyway.
Regarding the moment, Gibson said, "Sometimes when you get pushed out on a stage in a spotlight, your mind is all over the place, and sometimes spontaneous thoughtless idiocy is displayed. There was no intended maliciousness attached, and I certainly apologize to anyone who was upset by it."
FanExpo Canada is an annual event that is a hub for pop culture media enthusiasts. Be it films, shows, anime, gaming, or celebrities, the Expo serves as the biggest event of its kind in Canada, and the third biggest in the continent of North America. The event draws celebs and fans alike, allowing the latter to attend signings and photo opportunities.
The organizers of the event have not issued a statement regarding Mel Gibson's actions. However, fans were quick to contrast his behaviour with that of Reacher star Alan Ritchson, who shook hands with the ASL interpreter once his QnA session concluded. Other celebrities that graced the event included nerd culture legends like Mark Hamill, wrestler-turned-actor John Cena, and Mr. T.

Over the weekend, Gibson attended Fan Expo Canada and shortly after taking the stage to talk during a scheduled event, he started making gestures behind the interpreter's back as they signed in ASL. Brief video of the moment started making the Internet rounds as people started calling Gibson out for the mockery.
On Monday, the "Braveheart" actor apologized for the moment and ***** ured there was "no intended maliciousness."
"Sometimes when you get pushed out on a stage in a spotlight your mind is all over the place, and sometimes spontaneous thoughtless idiocy is displayed – there was no intended maliciousness attached, and I certainly apologize to anyone who was upset by it," Gibson said in a statement obtained by TheWrap.
The brief video of Gibson was taken down but plenty of people online clocked the mockery and were quick to call him out.

Mel Gibson has come under fire after mocking an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter during a Fan Expo Canada panel over the weekend.
Page Six reported that the Braveheart actor walked on stage, waved at the crowd, and then mimicked the interpreter's signs. The clip has now gone viral with people calling his behavior "bonkers," "despicable," and "gross."
"This choice is bonkers to me. *interpreter just doing their job, people clapping for you, positive vibes* Mel Gibson: *makes fun of ASL interpreter for no reason at all* What dysfunction causes a brain to need to be casually cruel for no reason?" one social media user wrote via X.
After the clip was widely circulated, the Oscar winner issued an apology for his behavior at "the largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event in Canada."

VERDIGRIS — Emmyn Gibson quietly bided her time.
While Class 3A No. 15 Sequoyah raced away from Class 4A No. 14 Verdigris early Tuesday night, the junior outside hitter and reigning Claremore Progress All-County Most Valuable Player was content to work in the shadows.
Gibson dialed into her defensive game, digging up attacks while Bella Brown and Alice Michaels supplied much of the early offense at the Verdigris Activity Center.
She was lurking, though.
Waiting.

Through 11 preseason practices, it's safe to say that Texas A&M's chances of making it back to the College Football Playoff for a second consecutive season will hinge on redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed taking the vaunted "next step" after throwing for a career-high 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions during his first full starting season.
Before a record 10 players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, third-year coach Mike Elko made several staff changes, led by the promotion of WR coach Holmon Wiggins to offensive coordinator and key ***** istant Lyle Hemphill replacing Jay Bateman as A&M's new defensive coordinator.
After losing 15 starters and 20-plus players overall, Elko landed 17 transfer portal commitments, combined with the 2026 signing class, all while retaining 65% of the 2025 roster. Among the newcomers, former Northwestern Edge Anto Saka, Colorado transfer DB Tawfiq Byard, and former Tennessee cornerback Rickey Gibson are all expected to make an immediate impact.
Junior wide receiver Mario Craver, senior defensive tackle DJ Hicks, senior center Mark Nabou, and junior wide receiver Terry Bussey were the only Aggies selected to the 2026 Preseason Coaches All-SEC Football Teams. Craver, who reeled in a career-high 59 receptions for 917 yards and 4 touchdowns, is the lone first-team selection at wide receiver and all-purpose player.

Michael Jordan played in the NBA for 15 seasons between 1984 and 2003, and was widely considered one of the greatest athletes of his generation. But he wasn't the best.
That would have been his contemporary, Bo Jackson. Jackson played both professional baseball and football, and was an All-Star in each.
His professional baseball career started in 1986, and his NFL career in 1987.
His career – both of them – were full of legendary moments. Negro Leagues legend Buck O'Neill said that when Jackson hit the ball, he connected with a ferocity that he had only ever heard from two players: Babe Ruth and Josh Gibson.
Then there was the wall running and the insane passes.

South Carolina senior transfer wide receiver Jayden Gibson and sophomore wide receiver Jayden Sellers each endured season-ending, lower body injuries this week in practice.
Gibson spent the last four seasons at Oklahoma, appearing in 22 games (one start) with 15 catches for 387 yards (25.8 avg) and five touchdowns for the Sooners.
Sellers appeared in seven games (two starts) in his first season with Gamecocks in 2025. He had 22 catches for 337 yards (15.3 avg) leading all Carolina freshmen. The Florence native had four catches for a season-high 127 yards in a win against Coastal Carolina, hauling in a 75-year touchdown pass.
"I am extremely disappointed for both of these young men," USC coach Shane Beamer said. "I know how hard each of them has worked over the spring and summer in getting ready for 2026 to help our team. I have full confidence they will both overcome the adversity they're facing, and we will help them in whatever way we can throughout the rehab process moving forward."
