Funeral arrangements have been made for Anthony Lake, the former Hendersonville offensive coordinator and quarterback who died on July 26, according to his obituary.
Hendersonville football coach James Beasley confirmed to The Tennessean on July 27 that Lake had died. Lake was 54.
A visitation will be held Aug. 2 from 1-3 p.m. at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, according to the obituary. Lake's celebration of life will take place immediately afterwards from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lake is survived by his wife, Heather; his children Chase (Shawnna) Lake and Ashelyn Lake; his mother, Sharon Lake; his father, Ed (Lori) Lake and his sister Jennifer (Travis) Donaldson.
Lake was a longtime Hendersonville ***** istant who served most recently as the Commandos' offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. He led his alma mater to the 1988 TSSAA football Class AAA state semifinals. Hendersonville finished with a 10-4 record and a region championship under the late legendary coach Bill Derrick that year.

Bartlett five-star forward DJ Okoth got his latest Power Four offer, this time from Kentucky and Mark Pope, according to Bartlett basketball's X account on July 21.
This is Okoth's For the class of 2028 recruit, it's his 17th offer, his sixth from a Power Four school, according to this Instagram account. Okoth averaged 13.3 points through 33 games last season as Bartlett captured a TSSAA basketball state championship in Class 4A. It was the program's first ******* le since 2001.
Okoth was named the Mr. Basketball last March.

Two Tennessee high school football powers have received national recognition ahead of the 2026 TSSAA season.
With Week 1 kickoff just over a month away, MaxPreps has released its national preseason top 25, highlighting the country's top high school football teams entering the 2026 season. Division II-AAA's Baylor and Brentwood Academy each cracked the rankings, with Baylor the state's highest ranked team at No. 12 and Brentwood Academy sitting just behind at No. 14.

The pair faced off in Chattanooga last December for the BlueCross Bowl state championship. Both were undefeated entering the game, but Baylor claimed a 28-24 win over the Eagles to secure the gold ball.

Knoxville Catholic football has self-imposed a one-year TSSAA playoff ban for the 2026 football season due to recruiting violations.
The TSSAA opened an investigation into the program and found illegal communication between an ****** istant coach and a player, according to a school release. The coach attempted to convince the player to transfer to Catholic.

Southwind football running back Khamoni Williams has committed to Auburn, he announced via social media.
He had committed to West Virginia on June 12, but flipped to first-year coach Alex Golesh's program after taking an official visit to Auburn on June 19. Williams made his announcement the night of June 21.
Williams is a three-star recruit ranked as Tennessee's No. 24 player in the 2027 class. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound athlete ranks as The Commercial Appeal's No. 1 running back entering the 2026 TSSAA season.
The Jaguars' running back previously played at Class 2A Memphis Business Academy, where he led the Execs on multiple TSSAA playoff runs and was an All-Metro third-team selection in 2025.

Jayla Blue of Bearden was named the Gatorade Tennessee Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
Blue, who has signed with Tennessee, repeated as Knox News' PrepXtra Girls Soccer Player of the Year after leading Bearden to a 20-2-1 record and its fourth Class 3A TSSAA state championship in the past five years. She scored 33 goals in the 2025 season and added 17 ****** ists.
Blue holds the Bearden school record with 135 career goals scored. She was a four-time All-State selection and the 2025 United Soccer Coaches State Player of the Year.
"Jayla was fantastic," West coach Roberto Castro said in a news release. "She is truly a game-changer on the field. We played them three times and every time she was the difference-maker."
Blue maintained a 3.44 GPA and volunteered her time in the Bradley's Gift and Home kitchen and other community service projects through her church.

Joey Ansell, Brentwood Academy: Ansell, a Kentucky signee, batted .389 with 28 hits, five home runs and 30 RBIs. He was also the Eagles’ top pitcher with a 6-1 record, 1.80 ERA and 64 strikeouts during BA’s DII-AA state runner-up season.
Stephen Bobo, Shelbyville: Bobo, a Vanderbilt signee, batted .526 with 50 Hits, 11 extra-base hits and 23 stolen bases going into the Class 4A state tournament. He was 2-1 as a pitcher with two saves, a 2.80 ERA and 38 strikeouts.

Tennessee baseball signee Michael Teasley received All-Region 2 honors from Tennessee Baseball Report.
Teasley, a recent graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, was a two-way player and four-year starter for the Wildcats, pitching and playing third base.
In 2026, he recorded a .414 batting average. Teasley was 11-0 as a pitcher, totaling a 1.17 ERA and recorded 154 strikeouts.
He signed with the Vols on Jan. 28 after committing to Tennessee on Oct. 20, 2024. Teasley was also named First-Team All-District 4-4A and was the district's Pitcher of the Year. He was named Class 4A Tennessee Mr. Baseball for a second consecutive year by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches ****** ociation.
The future Vol led the Wildcats to consecutive appearances in the TSSAA Class 4A state tournament. Teasley was named District 3-4A Player of the Year as a junior in 2025 and earned All-State honors from the Tennessee Sports Writers ****** ociation.
