GLD and IAU let investors hold gold inside a regular brokerage IRA without a separate custodian, vault, or storage fees.
The IRS treats any IRA-owned coins taken home as a taxable distribution, plus a 10% penalty for owners under 59½.
Gold IRAs pile on custodian fees, storage fees, and dealer markups above spot price, which hit $3,929 an ounce in late 2026.
Read More: Learn 7 ways to generate income with a $1,000,000+ portfolio (sponsor)
A common pitch in late-night gold ads goes like this: roll your IRA into gold and keep the coins in a safe at home. Part of that is real. A gold IRA, an individual retirement account that holds physical precious metal, is allowed under federal tax law. The home safe is where it gets tricky. If the account owner takes possession of the coins, the IRS treats them as a withdrawal. That means taxable income and possibly an early withdrawal penalty.

Buying a new car is getting harder just as Ford Motor's stock is having one of its best days of the year.
Ford (F) shares jumped 12.4% Thursday after the automaker delivered better-than-expected adjusted earnings and raised the bottom end of its annual profit outlook.
For shareholders, that was welcome news.
For someone walking into a dealership, Ford's results revealed a less comfortable trend.
From a previous forecast of around $2 billion, Ford now anticipates increased commodity expenses of nearly $2.5 billion this year. The cost of steel, copper, computer chips, gasoline, and transportation is all rising.

Adriana La Cerva in The Sopranos. Ginger McKenna in Casino. Sofía Vergara's Griselda Blanco. For decades, the mob wife has been the archetypal anti-heroine – all fur, animal print and knee-high boots. Now Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the ranks.
Shedding the gothic lace and American drawl of Morticia Addams in Netflix's Wednesday, Swansea-born Zeta-Jones is using her real Welsh accent on screen for the first time in Prime Video's revenge thriller Kill Jackie. She plays Jackie Price, an ex-cocaine dealer whose quiet life unravels when one routine decision ends with an elite squad of ******* assins hired to kill her.
Unsurprisingly, the series is already drawing comparisons with the BBC's Killing Eve. The series shares a director (Damon Thomas), a dark, twisted humour and puts a fierce, quirky woman at its centre. But the strongest link may be the wardrobe.
Just as Villanelle's Molly Goddard tulle dress became a character in its own right, Jackie's wardrobe – built on an enticing mix of British designers, vintage and second-hand – is every bit as scene-stealing, and serves as inspiration for how we'll want to dress this autumn.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — President Donald Trump, facing protesters and a poor political climate, fought to rally Texas voters behind Senate candidate Ken Paxton on Wednesday night in a bid to stave off sweeping Democratic victories in the nation's most populous red state.
But Trump's remarks were not focused solely on Paxton.
Speaking to a packed Freeman Coliseum, Trump also pledged to award retired baseball star Roger Clemens the Presidential Medal of Freedom, restated his support for the death penalty for drug dealers and clarified recent comments in which he talked about the possibility of Iran bombing American cities as part of a recurring riff about how high fuel costs are "a small price to pay" for the war.
"You want to see problems? Let them hit San Diego, let them hit Los Angeles," Trump said. "We're not going to let that happen. We protect our cities. We protect our country."
The president's message was interrupted repeatedly by protesters, including by one who appeared to be close to the stage. In all, at least a dozen demonstrators interrupted the president. Some were led away by police.

Some parents frame their kid's first big paycheck. CT Tamburello's mom wanted it out of the house.
The 46-year-old Challenge legend sat down with fellow Massachusetts native Andy Bachman on the Creators Inc. Podcast, where the conversation turned to the first money lesson fame taught him. Early on, the advice was to send the checks home and deal in cash, which he now calls "arguably the worst financial advice I ever got."
"It wasn't like I had bad credit. I just didn't have any," Tamburello explained. "And then mom thought I was a drug dealer."
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
Back then, the cash came from nightclub appearances, the paid walk-throughs that turned early reality stars into weekend headliners. Tamburello was fresh off The Real World: Paris and working Boston rooms like McFadden's.

Nate Bargatze had barely four hours of sleep when he took the stage at the Ford Accelerate conference at Michigan Central Station in Detroit.
It was about 9 a.m. on Sept. 30 and the comedian was there to co-host the second-year of the event with Ford Motor Co. CEO Jim Farley. Bargatze is the new face in a Ford ad campaign touting the advantages that Ford vehicle owners get by using Ford's dealership service lanes rather than third-party service centers. Ford Accelerate is a gathering of hundreds of business and community leaders who discuss ways to get more people interested in skilled trades jobs, such as auto service technicians.
"I don't even know what time it is," Bargatze told the Detroit Free Press a couple of hours after he welcomed the crowd. His handler remarked that it wasn't yet noon. "It's not noon?! It could be four, five ... I don't know. We got in late last night because I had a show in Mississippi and then ... it was four hours sleep. But I feel great. It's been fun."
The ride for Bargatze, 47, has indeed been fun — and a lot of hard work.
He rose from humble roots in Old Hickory, Tennessee, a factory town about 15 miles northeast of Nashville known for its DuPont plant. He is the son of a professional magician and Bargatze worked as an appliance mover, a pizza delivery driver, a parking valet at Nashville International Airport and a water-meter reader before a buddy pushed him to try his dream of stand-up comedy.

On September 9, 2026, Reuters reported that Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) is recalling 201,976 Jeep vehicles in the U.S., including certain Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models. It happened after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found a software error that can prevent the tire-pressure monitoring system from detecting low tire pressure or alerting the driver, raising crash risk.
Dealers will update the affected radio-frequency hub software free of charge. The recall is the latest in a year that has already included a 1.5-million-vehicle Ram seat-belt recall, a 955,000-vehicle camera-glitch recall in August, and more than 1 million Wranglers and Gladiators recalled in June for fire risk.
The recall should carry a relatively limited direct financial burden because Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) can fix the defect with a software update. The recall covers 201,976 Jeep vehicles, but Stellantis does not need to replace a physical component. A software-based remedy should reduce parts and labor costs and allow dealers to complete the repair relatively quickly, limiting the recall's immediate impact on earnings and cash flow.
Stellantis has already begun rebuilding its financial performance, giving investors a stronger foundation to absorb another recall. Second-quarter net profit reached €293 million compared with a €1.87 billion loss a year earlier. Revenue surged 13% to €43.5 billion. The business also generated €1 billion in industrial free cash flow during the quarter, showing real improvement as CEO Antonio Filosa executes his turnaround plan.
Strong North American demand shows the recall has not yet undermined demand for Stellantis' key Jeep and Ram products. Second-quarter North American shipments increased 38% to 445,000 vehicles. It was backed up by refreshed models, including the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500. So the company enters this recall with improving volumes and strong demand for several of the brands that matter most to its North American turnaround.

On September 10, 2026, Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) reported fourth-quarter results for the period ended July 31, 2026, and used the call to announce an all-cash acquisition of digital auto marketplace ACV Auctions. Revenue grew 2.4% to $1.2 billion, but gross profit fell 5.5% to $481.4 million and net income dropped 17.4% to $327.4 million. Diluted EPS came in at $0.35 against $0.41 a year earlier.
Wall Street spent the following days separating the deal from the quarter.
Barrington's Gary Prestopino saw enough in the transaction to move off the sidelines, upgrading Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) to Outperform from Market Perform with a $40 target. His argument is that combining Copart's physical network with ACV's digital marketplace, at an implied equity value of $1.9 billion or $10.50 per share in cash, creates an end-to-end remarketing platform and opens a new growth vector in dealer-to-dealer and commercial vehicle auctions.
JPMorgan's Jash Patwa had already upgraded Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) to Overweight from Neutral ahead of the print, raising his target to $40 from $32 on encouraging salvage industry channel checks, web scraping data showing Copart gaining share with a carrier across several states, and a collision cycle he sees turning more favorable as insurance penetration recovers.
Freedom Broker, which trimmed its target to $36 from $39 while keeping a Buy rating, called the report mixed but framed the ACV move as a strong pivot toward digital marketplace expansion.

Apollo Global Management warned Wednesday that credit default swaps on hyperscaler debt are pricing in more risk. Chief economist Torsten Slok tied the shift to weakening credit fundamentals rather than routine bond-dealer hedging.
Hyperscalers are the cloud computing giants, including Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Meta, that run the infrastructure behind the AI boom. They face a credit default swap (CDS) gap against bank debt, widened to about 60 basis points since October 2025.
Slok made the case in a Wednesday note reported by CNBC.
"What the market is repricing is hyperscaler credit fundamentals, namely a debt-financed AI capex cycle with rising leverage, negative free cash flow and uncertain payback on depreciating ****** ets."
Dan Alpert, founding managing partner of Westwood Capital, compared the setup to the run-up to the 2008 mortgage crisis. He said banks have since built far bigger equity buffers and are more diversified than they were then.

Choosing between Advance Auto Parts (NYSE:AAP) and Intuitive Machines (NASDAQ:LUNR) requires balancing the steady but challenged automotive retail sector against the high-stakes, high-growth arena of ******* e infrastructure.
Advance Auto Parts operates as a massive retailer for vehicle maintenance, while Intuitive Machines focuses on lunar landers and orbital services. These two businesses represent very different risk-to-reward profiles for 2026 portfolios.
Advance Auto Parts operates as an automotive aftermarket parts retailer, serving both everyday do-it-yourselfers and professional installers like garages or dealerships. In its latest annual report, filed for the fiscal year ended January 3, 2026, the company noted it operates over 4,000 stores across North America. As an established player among retail stocks, its strategy relies on balancing these two customer bases, with professional sales accounting for nearly 50% of its total revenue.
In FY 2025, revenue reached $8.6 billion, representing a revenue decline of roughly 5.4% compared to the previous year. Despite this decline, the company reported a net income of $44.0 million. This resulted in a thin net margin, a measure of how much profit a company keeps from its total sales, of about 0.5%.
As of its January 2026 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio was 2.4x. This ratio measures total debt against shareholder equity, with a higher number suggesting more reliance on borrowing. The so-called current ratio, which tracks the ability to pay short-term debts with short-term ******* ets, was 1.7x. Free cash flow, defined as cash from operations minus capital expenditures, was negative $298.0 million for the year.

On September 10, Copart (NASDAQ:CPRT) held its fourth-quarter earnings call and used it to unveil a deal that could reshape its business: an all-cash agreement to acquire ACV, a digital auto marketplace that moved roughly $10 billion of vehicles last year without owning a single lot. The announcement landed alongside a quarter that captured the company's central tension. Revenue rose, but net income fell, and management is now betting that pairing its junkyards with someone else's software can fix that.
The ACV deal is the headline, and for good reason. ACV brings more than 22,000 active buyers and inspection and valuation technology, while Copart contributes over 275 locations, roughly 4 million vehicles sold annually, and about 1 million members across more than 185 countries. Management structured it as an all-cash tender offer funded from cash on hand, with a close targeted by the end of the calendar year and earnings accretion expected in fiscal 2028. Executives framed the fit as physical scale meeting digital liquidity, giving dealers, banks, and fleet sellers a single partner for disposing of vehicles.
That diversification push is already showing up in the numbers. International revenue grew 11.7% to $222.1 million on 15% service revenue growth, and international buyers accounted for 45.7% of total US sales dollars despite making up only 38.2% of units, a sign they are chasing pricier vehicles. Domestically, non-insurance units returned to growth of 0.2% in the quarter after a full-year decline, dealer units rose 5.8%, and BluCar, which serves banks and fleets, expanded nearly 20%. Global average selling prices climbed 3.5%, evidence that Copart's auctions still command pricing power even as volumes soften.
The quarter's numbers show where the strain is. Consolidated revenue grew 2.4% to $1.2 billion, yet net income dropped 17.4% to $327.4 million and diluted earnings per share fell 14.6% to $0.35. Operating expense per car jumped 12.7% year over year as the company poured money into long-haul delivery, **** leExpress, and dedicated wholesale facilities, and US facility costs alone rose 7.7% in the quarter. Lower interest income, a byproduct of the $1.63 billion spent on buybacks earlier in the fiscal year, added to the squeeze.
The core insurance business is also cooling. Global insurance units fell 4.2%, with domestic insurance **** ignments down 7.5%, though management noted that figure would have been up 2.3% excluding the loss of a single customer. Collision claim frequency declined 3.4% even as total loss frequency hit a record 23.3% for a second quarter and severity topped $6,300 per claim, up 8.8%. And the ACV deal itself carries integration risk, since management expects only breakeven results before accretion arrives in fiscal 2028.

On September 10, MasterCraft Boat Holdings (NASDAQ:MCFT) reported a fiscal fourth quarter that looked nothing like the one a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled, margins expanded across the legacy business, and the company closed out a year defined by its May 15 acquisition of Marine Products Corporation. But buried inside those same results was a $10.1 million writedown that tells a very different story about one corner of the business.
MasterCraft's core boat business is the reason the quarter worked at all. Legacy net sales, meaning the business before the acquisition, climbed 21.5% year over year to $96.6 million in the fourth quarter, powered by the next generation X Series lineup and less discounting at the dealer level. That combination of volume and pricing pushed legacy adjusted EBITDA margin up 730 basis points to 19.3%, up from 12% a year earlier. Once the newly acquired Chaparral and Robalo brands are added in, which contributed for only six weeks after the deal closed on May 15, consolidated fourth quarter net sales reached $129.9 million, up 63.4%, and adjusted EBITDA hit $20.5 million, up 114.9%.
The company also cleaned up its channel. Dealer field inventory for the legacy business fell 30% year over year, with turnover now running ahead of pre-pandemic levels, a sign dealers are selling boats rather than sitting on them. Full-year adjusted net income reached $30.2 million, or $1.76 per diluted share, up from $15.1 million, or $0.92 per share, in fiscal 2025. The company generated $22.3 million in free cash flow for the year and, as of June 30, held $43.9 million in cash, zero debt, and a fully available $75 million credit line. MasterCraft's own retail sales grew low single digits for the year even as the broader powerboat industry fell mid to high single digits, and the newer Robalo brand posted high single-digit retail growth in the fishing boat category.
The picture gets murkier once you look past the flagship brand. The Leisure segment, home to the Crest and Balise pontoon boats, saw fourth-quarter sales fall 11.2% year over year to $12.1 million, and the company booked a $10.1 million non-cash impairment against Crest brand ******* ets tied to what management called current category conditions. On a GAAP basis, that charge combined with acquisition costs and purchase accounting adjustments turned the quarter into a net loss of $7 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, compared to net income of $5.5 million a year earlier. Operating expenses rose $23.1 million in the quarter, including $5.9 million in transaction costs tied to the acquisition.

After an epic 11-inning win Friday night against the Phillies, the Braves were hoping to finish them off in the division race. They got a bit of a boost from the Phillies scratching Jesus Luzardo with long-running shoulder soreness.
Tyler Mahle cruised through the first two hitters before Bryce Harper hit a monster homer and took a comical amount of time rounding the bases, clearly hitting back at the controversy from Zach Wheeler's comments about Ronald Acuna's home run celebrations last week. The Phillies had to be feeling good with a 1-0 lead for a couple innings there, until the Braves essentially ended the game with 8 runs in the fourth inning. Ronald Acuna kicked things off with a towering homer (and a normal home run trot).
La Bestia mode activated 🔥#LocalFordDealer | ronaldacunajr24 pic.twitter.com/blKPAhoG0w
The Braves then got a walk, single, single, single, error, wild pitch, walk, double, and single to score another 7 runs. Drake Baldwin provided the double before things got all the way back around to Acuna for the last single, bringing home the last run of the inning.
Mahle continued to cruise after that Harper homer, finishing 7.0 innings of 1-run ball with no walks, even though he only had 7 whiffs and 3 strikeouts. The Braves added another run on in the sixth with a Ronald ABS strikeout-turned-walk, an error on an Olson ground ball, and an Ozzie sac fly. The Phillies got one back with a solo homer from Crawford in the eighth against Brent Suter. The Braves got another 3 runs against the position-player pitcher for Philly in the eighth, as Kiersey singled, Albies doubled, and Harris hit a homer off the right field foul pole. Suter finished off the Phillies in the ninth, as the Braves only needed to throw Mahle and Suter on the night. The Phillies' bullpen is in rough shape on the other side, after the 11-inning game Friday and the blowout bullpen game they suffered today.

A dispute over allegations of defective work that resulted in trailers catching fire now is threatening to drag in the manufacturers of some of those components that may be at the root of the incidents.
The case of Indiana-based Summitt Leasing and Summitt Trucking vs. Fruehauf was first filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western district of Kentucky at the end of last year, with an amended complaint filed soon after. Summitt is a carrier as well as a supplier of leased trailers.
Long cast of characters
Last week, Fruehauf, a manufacturer of trailers, moved to bring in as defendants SAF-Holland Inc., Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Hoosier Trailer Acquisition Corp. Two of those companies, SAF-Holland and Bendix, manufactured components in the trailers that van leasing company Summitt says failed in several different ways, which may have led to the fires.
Hoosier is a trailer dealer that supplied the Fruehauf-manufactured trailer to Pace Transportation Services, which then moved the trailers to Summitt. Pace already was a defendant in the original case along with Fruehauf.

Shell has agreed to take full control of U.S. convenience store operator and fuel distributor Tri Star Energy, in a transaction that will more than double the energy major's company-owned convenience retail footprint in the United States.
Equilon Enterprises, which operates as Shell Oil Products US, will increase its ownership of Nashville-based Tri Star from 33% to 100%. The acquisition includes 320 fuel and convenience retail sites in Tennessee and surrounding states, along with fuel-supply agreements covering another 552 dealer-owned locations. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Shell is acquiring the remaining interest from The Parman Corporation, Kimbro Oil Company and their subsidiaries. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
The transaction represents a substantial expansion of Shell's directly controlled retail operations. While Shell already has around 12,000 branded fuel and convenience sites across 49 U.S. states, the vast majority are operated by wholesalers or dealers rather than owned directly by the company. Shell says its U.S. network serves more than 7 million customers per day.
Following completion, Tri Star will be operated by Texas Petroleum Group, a wholly owned unit of Shell Mobility & Convenience US. Shell expects the combined business to have nearly 550 company-owned convenience retail locations and supply agreements with around 650 dealer-owned sites across the southern United States.
Tri Star, founded in 2000, operates convenience-store brands including Twice Daily, Sudden Service and Little General and also owns the White Bison Coffee brand. Its wholesale fuel operation reaches multiple states, giving Shell additional exposure to both fuel distribution and higher-margin convenience and food-and-beverage sales.

Less than 16% of borrowers have scores of 600 or less, and the average interest rates for this group are 22%, according to Experian data.
Shop around to find the best deal on an auto loan for your budget and credit profile, but be prepared for limited loan options and high costs.
If approved, an auto loan can help improve your credit — provided you keep up with the loan and make on-time payments.
A car loan for bad credit is a risky and challenging endeavor. It's hard to get approved if you have a low credit score. Less than 16% of borrowers with a car loan had have a score of 600 or lower at the beginning of 2026, according to Experian data. Further, you'll likely face prohibitively high interest rates. To compare, the average used car loan rate for someone with a score of 781 or higher is a little over 6%, while a borrower with a score of under 500 gets a rate of almost 22% on average.
For that reason, it's best to work on your credit before you buy a car. But if the purchase can't wait, make sure to look for a competitive auto loan rather than settling for a high-cost offer from a buy-here, pay-here dealer. With a little legwork, you can find the best bad credit car loans for your financial situation.

Guns and ammunition retailers have faced financial distress, leading to store closings and bankruptcy filings as sales have fallen significantly over the last two years.
Industry experts believe some of the decline in sales might have resulted from buyers delaying purchases to take advantage of the reduction in the National Firearms Act tax from $200 to $0 beginning Jan. 1, 2026, the National Rifle **** ociation's American Rifleman reported. The decline of sales, however, has continued in 2026.
Financial issues had led firearms and ammunition retailer White Oak Armory LLC to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize its business, owing a disputed tax debt to the Tennessee Department of Revenue.
White Oak Armory filed its petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee on Aug. 24, listing $500,000 to $1 million in **** ets and liabilities. The petition did not reveal whether the company's sales had declined, and the debtor did not give a specific reason for filing for bankruptcy in its petition.
The retailer was not immediately available for comment. The firearms dealer's website and telephone were still operating on Aug. 30.

Andvari **** ociates, an investment management firm, released its first-quarter 2025 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Andvari's portfolio has performed strongly in the quarter, highlighted by Constellation Software's 19.9% revenue growth and its plans to spend on acquisitions in 2026. The company is also focusing on AI tools to enhance productivity and customer relationships. However, the AI sector is experiencing extreme hype, leading to a growing disconnect between valuations and future cash flows. Predictions suggest the AI investment phase may decline in 1-3 years, despite current high demand for AI infrastructure, which is expected to attract significant competition. On August 29, Reuters reported that Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (NYSE:HMC) and Nissan Motor could reach an agreement as soon as the following Monday to jointly develop a vehicle operating system and onboard computer, according to ***** an's Nikkei newspaper. The tie-up would target new models arriving as early as 2029 and marks the clearest sign yet that the two ***** anese automakers are rebuilding cooperation more than a year after their $60 billion merger talks fell apart. Honda has plenty riding on getting both the technology and the timing right.
Honda told Reuters it is discussing "potential areas of collaboration" with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors under their existing strategic partnership, though it stressed no deal has been finalized. A Nissan spokesperson said the company is exploring "various possibilities" and would share details once something is confirmed. Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa said earlier this month that talks with Honda over software collaboration were underway, and on Honda's own fiscal first-quarter earnings call, management confirmed it is exploring cooperation with Nissan on software-defined vehicles, batteries and shared vehicle platforms to pool volume across both companies. A shared computing platform could let Honda spread the cost of software development across a far larger base of vehicles, an advantage smaller automakers rarely get on their own.
That potential collaboration comes as Honda's core business is performing better than expected. Operating profit for the fiscal first quarter, reported August 5, reached a record JPY530.7 billion, powered by an all-time high JPY233.9 billion motorcycle profit on strong demand in India and Brazil. Automobile operating profit held at JPY192.1 billion despite a rough patch in China, a 5% margin management attributed partly to a JPY78.1 billion positive tariff impact. In the United States, high gasoline prices pushed buyers toward Honda's hybrids, and the company captured a 10% share of the market in April and May, its best showing in five years. Management responded by raising full-year operating profit guidance to JPY650 billion and adjusted operating profit, which excludes EV-related losses, to JPY1.17 trillion, while holding the dividend at JPY70 per share and keeping a JPY3.3 trillion net cash position.
China remains the biggest drag. Management said the country's combustion-engine and hybrid market shrank by about 40% in the quarter, and Honda's retail units there fell 50% year over year, even after the company moved early to extend its joint venture with GAC through 2028 to calm dealers. Honda is also still absorbing the cost of its shifted EV strategy, forecasting JPY520 billion in EV-related losses for the full year, a figure it revised to reflect foreign exchange effects on compensation talks with North American suppliers that remain unresolved.
