The Columbus Blue Jackets are the latest team to eliminate separate radio and television broadcasts, moving to a unified broadcast across platforms for the 2026-27 National Hockey League season.
Blue Jackets television broadcasters Steve Mears and Jody Shelley will continue in their current roles for the simulcast broadcast. Radio play-by-play announcer Bob McElligott, who has been with the Blue Jackets for the past 17 years, did not have his contract renewed.
Dylan Tyrer, who has been a radio host for the past seven years, will remain in that role.

Iowa State wrestling head coach Alli St. John announced the signing of Chloe Sanders Wednesday, the program's fourth freshman addition of the summer. Sanders, a standout from Vinton-Shellsburg High School, is slated to compete in the 138-pound weight class.
Sanders arrives at Iowa State as the winningest female high school wrestler in Iowa history, finishing her prep career with a 219-12 record. WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal officials involved in the prosecution of James Comey misled judges, submitted false statements and withheld key facts during the course of the investigation, according to new defense filings that seek the dismissal of a case charging the former FBI director with threatening President Donald Trump on social media.
Lawyers for Comey made the allegations of misconduct in motions filed late Tuesday that also call the case a vindictive and selective prosecution, request access to transcripts of grand jury proceedings to expose what they say are "irregularities" in how the indictment was secured, and describe "unlawful" surveillance of Comey by the Secret Service.
Taken together, the new motions, along with an earlier one this week that called Comey's social media post protected speech and not a threat, represent a multiprong defense effort to dismantle a case that defense lawyers say exemplifies a Trump administration retribution campaign targeting one of the president's most vocal critics.
"Ample objective evidence — much of which comes directly from government officials' own public statements and admissions — establishes that the President's animus toward Mr. Comey led to this vindictive and selective prosecution," Comey's lawyers wrote in one of the filings.

Shares of the Bitcoin treasury company—a publicly traded firm that holds Bitcoin on its balance sheet, letting regular investors gain exposure to the cryptocurrency without buying it directly—dropped nearly 15% on Tuesday.
Mallers co-founded Twenty One alongside Tether—the issuer of USDT, the world's most widely used dollar-pegged stablecoin (a digital token that holds a fixed value of one dollar and functions as the backbone of crypto trading)—and listed the company on the New York Stock Exchange in December 2025 through a ******* merger. A ******* , or special purpose acquisition company, is a blank check shell firm created specifically to take other companies public faster than a traditional IPO allows.
Twenty One still holds 43,514 BTC. The Houston Dynamo return to action from their World Cup break this week, but after a couple matches, they'll be adding a new sponsor to their jerseys and it will be placed in a fitting spot.
The Dynamo, who play D.C. United on Wednesday at Shell Energy Stadium, announced a multi-year partnership with Dude Wipes on Tuesday that will include adding the name of the disposable wipes brand to a spot close to where the product is most often used: The bottom of the back of the jerseys. The branding will be added in time for the Aug. 1 road match at Sporting Kansas City.
The partnerships tagline is "Space City has Uranus covered."
"Dude Wipes is exactly the kind of partner we love working with: a brand that's unapologetically authentic, knows how to make people laugh, and has built an incredibly loyal community by staying true to its personality," Houston Dynamo FC chief revenue officer Nico Zini said in a statement released by the club. A lot of things weren't on my bingo card coming into this week.
I didn't expect a billionaire tech founder to show me a lot of vintage supercars they just purchased. That was fun, I love cars.
Speaking of cars, I also didn't expect a $900 bill for a one-hour service on my new car. But hey, at least the dealership took a video of my car being worked on, sent it to me, and said they thought the car was beautiful. That makes shelling out $900 for some oil, wiper blades, a cabin filter, and expertly inflated tires a little more palatable.
From a market standpoint, I didn't anticipate further beatings in red-hot memory chip names like Micron (MU), Sandisk (SNDK), and IBM (IBM). All three could now be considered crashed-out tech stocks. But only one is dead money, given my many chats with experts.
That is IBM.

Speaking from the White House on Thursday night, he described shocking revelations, like Chinese meddling to undermine his failed candidacy in 2020 and a cover-up by the "deep state." He claimed, "Americans were blatantly lied to about the security of our election infrastructure."
But a review by The ******* ociated Press found no such confirmation in the collection of newly declassified reports, investigation files, intelligence ******* ysis and ******* orted correspondence. Many pages are so heavily redacted that their findings are unclear. Others outline vulnerabilities and ******* sments that have been well-documented for years. There's no evidence that China or any other foreign entity manipulated the vote in 2020 or any other year.

Current Sandalwood senior Bane Barker and Sandalwood graduate Dakota Stone, now pitching at the University of North Florida, joined Bishop Snyder High School senior Cody Boshell and former Bartram Trail High School pitcher Ashton Pocol on the list of selections in the 20-round draft.
Boshell, a combination pitcher and first baseman at Bishop Snyder, came off the board in the 11th round at No. 326 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. On Friday, RAN dropped a bombshell of a report (BFW covered it here), which indicated that former head coach Julian Nagelsmann had created drama by adding Manuel Neuer to the German national team and that Neuer subsequently tried to have Alexander Nübel booted from the squad in favor of Jonas Urbig.

"Thanks in large part to both Cal Raleigh and Rob Refsnyder looking like shells of their former selves, the Mariners have an MLB-worst .622 OPS against left-handed pitching this season," Bleacher Report's Kery Miller wrote Friday.
If the postseason started today, the Mariners would be the third and final Wild Card team in the AL.

Far-left journalist Joy Reid unloaded on the Democratic Party after Graham Platner suspended his Maine Senate campaign on Wednesday, telling voters they have her "permission to not vote" if leadership opts to replace the progressive candidate with a more moderate option.
On "The Joy Reid Show," the former MSNBC host warned key figures in the party that if they do not replace Platner with an "ideologically similar candidate," voters may stay home on Election Day.
"You need to replace him with somebody who is ideologically the same because that is what was decided. The people of Maine, the Democratic voters of Maine said, 'We want a progressive.' They did not say they want an AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee] moderate," Reid said. "So, the Democratic Party in Maine ought to pick someone who is ideologically the same or ideologically similar as Platner."
Reid went on to give Maine voters her blessing not to cast their ballot if the Democrats do not select a candidate whose policies are in line with Platner's campaign promises.
