The estimated average monthly premium for Medicare Part D stand-alone prescription drug plans (PDPs) is projected to be $51 in 2027, a 50% increase over 2026, when that figure was $34, according to KFF, a healthcare research and policy firm. Average monthly premiums for the eight national prescription drug plans are projected to range from around $6 to $204 in 2027, KFF said.

Back in 1994, the same shares paid Berkshire about $75 million a year, not even one-tenth of what it earns today. At around $96 a share, the stake is now worth approximately $38.4 billion. Berkshire still holds the entire stake, and its CEO, Greg Abel, called Coca-Cola one of four core holdings.

Millions in Cuba were left without power on Friday as the country was plunged into yet another major blackout.
The country's entire electricity grid suffered "total disconnection" that triggered a nationwide outage, Cuba's energy ministry said.
Power was restored to some priority areas by late evening, including those near hospitals and water pumping stations in the capital Havana, grid operator UNE said.
It is at least the sixth partial or total blackout to hit Cuba this year, where ageing electricity infrastructure and chronic fuel shortages have been placed under further strain by a US blockade on oil shipments to the communist-run nation.
UNE said the outage started just before 14:00 local time on Friday (18:00 GMT) due to a transmission fault coupled with poor weather conditions in central Cuba.

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) closed up by +1.14% on Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed up by +0.61%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed up +1.73%. September E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) rose +1.10%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) rose +1.67%.
Stock indexes settled sharply higher on Thursday as falling oil prices eased inflation concerns and knocked bond yields lower. WTI crude fell nearly -1% on Thursday amid signs that supply disruptions in the Middle East are set to ease, bolstering hopes that inflation can be kept under control. The 10-year T-note yield fell -7 bp to 4.94%. T-note yields also fell after the Fed's +25 bp rate hike on Wednesday reassured investors that the Fed is determined to tame inflation.

Elon Musk is getting serious about putting artificial intelligence (AI) into orbit. The ***** eX (SPCX) CEO is reportedly confident the company can launch Nvidia (NVDA) powered AI systems into ***** e in 2027. ***** eX and Nvidia are working on a ***** e-optimized version of Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 platform, and Musk says the system should be lighter, denser, and cheaper than a traditional data-center rack. That matters because ***** eX is trying to turn orbital computing into a major business, while Nvidia could gain another market for its AI hardware.
The opportunity is much bigger than a headline. ***** eX could eventually sell computing capacity from satellites just as it sells broadband through Starlink. Meanwhile, Nvidia could supply the chips behind that infrastructure. Investors should still remember that this is an emerging business, and commercial scale is not expected immediately. Still, the plan gives both companies another way to capitalize on the AI spending boom.
