People over the last couple of weeks have been ***** on each other about their college teams getting a sponsorship patch on their jerseys a la soccer teams. Yes, it is a great way to earn extra money and also a decent collaboration with the right companies. Whether or not Nebraska will get there, well that remains to be seen.
IF Nebraska goes that route, I don't want it to be just one patch. I want to go full-on NASCAR uniform style. I want as many ***** Nebraska based companies on there as possible. Steer straight into the skid. Make it look as ridiculous as possible, with Matt Rhule having to do post-game interviews thanking all of our sponsors. It would be great to do so much shameless plugging for our "fly-over" state.
Some of these I would change…Caterpillar for instance would have to be Case IH. It would absolutely need to have Kool-Aid. You can't forget about Berkshire Hathaway, Chief Industries, The Buckle, Hornady, Union Pacific, Cash-Wa Distributing, Fairbury Brand Hot Dogs and Dorothy Lynch dressing. So many Nebraska based companies people! Let me know what you think, including why I should be ashamed of myself. In the meantime, here are your flakes…

One of Wall Street's largest publicly traded companies, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB), has entered a new era. With Warren Buffett officially retiring as CEO on Dec. 31, 2025, after more than half a century at the helm, it's his protégé, Greg Abel, now calling the shots.
Berkshire's more than five dozen owned companies more or less run themselves. The focus of Berkshire Hathaway's operating results tends to be on what, if any, moves have been made in the company's $352 billion investment portfolio. Although Abel has been an aggressive buyer of Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG) stock of late, stock market dynamics strongly suggest he was a net seller of equities in the second quarter.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
If accurate, this would mark the 15th consecutive quarter that Buffett and/or Abel have sold more stocks than they've purchased.
As of March 31, Warren Buffett and Greg Abel had collectively sold approximately $194.8 billion more in stocks than they've purchased since Oct. 1, 2022. While some investors had postulated that Buffett was raising cash to give Abel a treasure chest to work with when he took over, the more likely catalyst behind this selling is the stock market's otherworldly valuation.

Warren Buffett stands as one of the most celebrated investors in history. Under his leadership at Berkshire Hathaway beginning in 1965, the investment conglomerate delivered a compound annual gain of 19.7% through 2025, almost double the S&P 500's (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) 10.5% average annual return over the same period.
That performance turned modest early investments into generational wealth for patient shareholders, validating Buffett's reputation for focusing on long-term value rather than short-term profits.

One tool the Oracle of Omaha has long employed for gauging the health of the stock market is the aptly named Buffett indicator, which compares the total value of U.S. stocks to gross domestic product (GDP). Its currently elevated reading raises questions about whether stocks are outrunning underlying economic growth and what that could signal for future returns.
The Buffett indicator is a ratio between the aggregate market capitalization of all publicly traded U.S. companies -- typically captured by a broad index such as the Wilshire 5000 -- and nominal U.S. GDP. This metric offers a snapshot of how large the stock market has become relative to the size of the economy that ultimately supports corporate profits.

XLF trades at a P/E of 16x, below the broader market, holding top financials like Berkshire Hathaway and JP Morgan at just 0.08% annually.
AI-driven capital flows have left financials trading at a discount despite solid fundamentals, with improving capital markets and steady loan demand as potential catalysts.
Don't wait: the ***** yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just revealed his top 10 AI stocks. See the full list FREE now.
Artificial intelligence has dominated the stock market over the past several years, drawing investors' attention and capital toward a handful of mega-cap technology companies. During this time, many other sectors have received far less attention despite continuing to deliver solid fundamentals and attractive valuations.
One sector that appears particularly attractive today is financials. For investors looking beyond the AI trade, the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) offers a simple, diversified way to gain exposure to what may be one of the market's most undervalued sectors.

Tutor Perini (NYSE: TPC) has been tapped for inclusion on an index run by a high-profile financial information and ****** ysis company, and investors were there for it on Tuesday. Following the news, they eagerly snapped up shares of the construction company, leaving it with a nearly 8% gain that trading session.

The one that affected Tutor Perini was the looming departure of a fellow construction stock, Taylor Morrison Home, from the S&P MidCap 400. Taylor Morrison is being acquired by the once Warren Buffett-led Berkshire Hathaway and will no longer be an independent company.

A top Bloomberg ***** yst has a bold idea for Warren Buffett. Eric Balchunas says the investor should give his Berkshire Hathaway shares to Trump Accounts, the new government investment accounts for American children.
Balchunas shared the idea on Tuesday. Buffett, 95, plans to give away his remaining Berkshire stake, worth about $140 billion, by the end of 2034.
Trump Accounts launched on July 4. They were created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a new tax law. Every eligible child born between 2025 and 2028 gets a $1,000 deposit from the Treasury.
Families can add up to $5,000 per year. The money sits in an S&P 500 index fund called SPYM by default. The Treasury picked Robinhood and BNY to run the app and the accounts.
Balchunas, the senior ETF ***** yst at Bloomberg Intelligence, thinks the accounts are a natural match for Buffett. Almost all of Buffett's wealth is Berkshire stock. He has also promised to give more than 99% of it away.

At the end of last year, Warren Buffett retired as chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) and passed the reins to Greg Abel. Although Buffett still has some influence on the company, it's clear that Abel and Berkshire Hathaway are embracing new strategies.
Since Abel took over, Berkshire Hathaway's stock portfolio has changed a bit, and one of the biggest shifts is that it has loaded up on Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL). Berkshire Hathaway purchased its first Alphabet shares in late 2025, but Abel has taken it up a notch. It's now Berkshire Hathaway's fifth-largest holding, accounting for 8.7% of its stock portfolio (across both share classes).

Alphabet isn't the typical Berkshire Hathaway investment, but amid the evolving artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, it makes sense for the conglomerate to embrace an AI company that has its hands in many pots. Between its prior public stake and the company's announcement of a new $10 billion private placement purchase in June, Berkshire Hathaway now holds a nearly $31 billion stake.
It's clear that AI is here to stay. The way people and businesses interact with it will inevitably evolve, but the technology itself isn't going anywhere. Alphabet is a smart investment for Berkshire Hathaway because it's a full-stack AI company that handles most of the pipeline in-house. It has operations in key parts of the AI ecosystem, including:

Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) has quietly become one of the most important companies in AI. It designs the custom chips that giants, including Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) and Meta Platforms, use to run their own AI systems, and it dominates the networking gear that ties thousands of those chips together inside a data center. On top of that, its infrastructure software business, anchored by VMware, throws off steady, high-margin revenue that cushions the more cyclical chip side. With a massive AI order backlog and a clear path toward much larger AI sales, Broadcom pairs explosive growth with a diversified base most chipmakers lack.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM) is the company that builds the world's most advanced chips, including those designed by Broadcom and Nvidia. Its management recently called AI demand "extremely robust" and raised its growth outlook, while pouring another $100 billion into its Arizona campus and ramping its cutting-edge 2-nanometer technology. Because nearly every leading chip company depends on its factories, Taiwan Semiconductor sits at an irreplaceable chokepoint in the AI economy. That is about as wide a moat as you will find.
Alphabet combines the cash machine of Google Search with a fast-growing cloud business and its own leading AI models. The company is investing enormous sums, including a plan to raise tens of billions to fund its AI infrastructure, and it is weaving AI across its products rather than being disrupted by it. Notably, Berkshire Hathaway built a large stake in Alphabet, a vote of confidence from the most famous value investor's company that this is a wonderful business at a fair price.

Berkshire Hathaway has been reshaping this trio. Apple was trimmed heavily, Coca-Cola was surpassed by Alphabet as the fourth-largest holding, and American Express is closing in on Apple for the top slot. Each stock now has to stand on its own numbers.
Coca-Cola (KO) has surged 20% year to date, doubling the S&P 500, leaving only 4.5% implied upside and making it a Hold.

Matthew Rodriguez paid $50,000 for a signed BRK-B commemorative book, surpassing the $31,500 Buffett himself paid for his Omaha home in 1958.
Buffett matched every auction dollar, turning $1.3 million in book proceeds into $2.6 million for the Stephen Center, an Omaha homeless shelter.
Buffett committed to donating his entire remaining $140 billion Berkshire stake to four family foundations by 2034, more than doubling his lifetime giving.

One of those two purchases was made by the greatest investor in American history, and the cheaper one belonged to Buffett.

The 95-year-old chairman stated plainly that he initiated the investment, putting to rest speculation about whether the decision originated with him or with his successor, new CEO Greg Abel:

A record breaker believes he has secured the world record for the fastest crossing of Iceland by foot.
It is the second time Jack Pitcher, 30, has broken a record, after he beat the best British time for running 2,684 miles (4,320km) across Australia in December 2024.
Pitcher, from Bracknell, Berkshire, was supported by a three-man team as he sought to raise money for the SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, and complete his latest challenge.
He used Iceland's Route 1 from 29 June before finishing on Monday afternoon, completing the 460-mile (740km) challenge in seven days, nine hours and four minutes.
Facing "four seasons in a day", he said the hilly, challenging terrain made it more difficult than his Australian adventure.

When Warren Buffett handed the reins to Greg Abel at the end of 2025, the big question was what Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKB)(NYSE: BRKA) would do with its enormous pile of cash. We're starting to get an answer, and it has a name: Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG).
Berkshire has rapidly built a position in the Google parent worth more than $20 billion. That's a striking move for a company whose new CEO could easily have spent his first months playing it safe. So what does Abel see in Alphabet, and what does the buying say about how he plans to deploy Berkshire's capital?
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Berkshire first bought a small amount of Alphabet in the third quarter of 2025, while Buffett was still CEO. But the scale of the purchases changed dramatically once Abel took over. In the first quarter of 2026, Berkshire more than tripled its Alphabet holding. That pushed the position to about $16.6 billion by the end of March, enough to make Alphabet its seventh-largest equity holding.
And then, in June, Berkshire agreed to a $10 billion private placement of Alphabet stock, buying about 28.6 million new shares directly from the company as part of Alphabet's massive equity raise. The purchase was split evenly between Alphabet's two publicly traded share classes, at prices modestly below where the stock traded at the time.

It's a year of new beginnings for the trillion-dollar conglomerate that Warren Buffett helped build, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB). Following the Oracle of Omaha's retirement as CEO on Dec. 31, Berkshire has its first new leader in more than half a century.
Buffett's protégé, Greg Abel, is now at the helm -- and he's wasted no time making his presence felt. Since taking over, Abel has completely exited 16 positions and amassed a mammoth stake in Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG). When combined with Berkshire's largest position, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), Abel has 30% of Berkshire's $343 billion investment portfolio tied up in two foundational artificial intelligence (AI) stocks.

There's no stock that Greg Abel has purchased more aggressively since taking over as CEO a little over six months ago than Alphabet.
During the first quarter, he more than doubled Berkshire's stake in Alphabet's Class A shares (GOOGL) and opened a position in its Class C shares (GOOG). More recently, Berkshire committed to buy a $10 billion private placement from Alphabet ($5 billion of each share class).

Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) stock is up just 0.78% for the year and is underperforming the S&P 500 Index ($SPX) by a wide margin. However, the stock gained 3.78% over the last month, which not only helped it turn positive for the year but also helped it bridge its gap with the index. With Berkshire jumping sharply over the last month, let's examine the stock's outlook in the back half of the year.
Berkshire stock hit its record high a day before Buffett announced his retirement at last year's annual shareholder meeting. There was always a "Warren Buffett premium" built into Berkshire shares, and after the nonagenarian announced that he would step down as CEO, that premium began to wither.

Warren Buffett is a tough act to follow. He is arguably the greatest investor of his time, transforming Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) into a massive holding company with almost 200 subsidiaries and a $330 billion equity portfolio, and he has trounced the S&P 500 over time.
However, Greg Abel, Buffett's handpicked successor, made his mark on the company in the first quarter of 2026, his first as CEO. Here's what it looks like, and how it could change the company's trajectory.

For the first time in more than half a century, the trillion-dollar company that Warren Buffett helped build is in uncharted territory. Following the Oracle of Omaha's retirement as Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) CEO on Dec. 31, it's his longtime understudy, Greg Abel, who's now calling the shots.
Abel wasted little time reshaping Berkshire's $332 billion investment portfolio. Since taking over as CEO, he's dumped 16 positions, including the renowned pizza chain, Domino's Pizza (NASDAQ: DPZ). At the other end of the spectrum, he's built up a mammoth stake in Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG), which is now a top-five holding.

While an argument can be made that selling out of Amazon was the biggest eyebrow-raiser of Abel's first quarter as Berkshire's CEO, his exit from Domino's Pizza is even more surprising.
Before Buffett's retirement, he acquired shares of Domino's for six consecutive quarters, building up a 3.35-million-share position. Whereas Berkshire's Amazon stake was substantially reduced in the fourth quarter, signaling its upcoming exit, there was no indication that Domino's would be given the heave-ho.
