The Baltimore Ravens already have enough established talent to construct one of the NFL's best secondaries. Chandler Rivers could be the player who raises the unit's ceiling even higher. Rivers is not expected to replace Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Kyle Hamilton or Malaki Starks in the starting lineup. The fifth-round rookie can still become an important part of Baltimore's defense by providing dependable coverage when the Ravens use additional defensive backs.
According to Pro Football Hall of Fame International Ambassador Steve Flack, citing Pro Football Focus, Rivers has played 40 coverage snaps during the preseason. He has been targeted six times, allowing two receptions and a 42.4 passer rating.
The sample remains small, but the early efficiency as a pro is difficult to ignore.

Rivers has stayed connected to receivers through their routes, closed quickly at the catch point, and demonstrated the physicality required to finish plays and potentially carve out a role. He also allowed only six receiving yards on five targets during Baltimore's preseason victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Donatella Versace is part of perhaps the most influential fashion family in the world. Alongside her siblings Gianni and Santo, Donatella built the Versace fashion house from the ground up. As the youngest sibling in the Versace family, Donatella was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 1955. Like her brother Gianni, Donatella learned the art of design from their mother, who was a talented dressmaker. After leaving university, Donatella supported Gianni during the launch of his fashion house Versace in the late 1970s — acting as his "muse and critic" before being given control of Versace's "Versus" line. Over the years, Donatella took on a more active role in the business; she especially led Versace whilst Gianni was battling cancer in the mid-1990s.
However, shortly after Gianni's recovery, the legendary designer was murdered outside of his home in Miami, Florida, in 1997. In the wake of his tragic passing, Donatella took charge of the family's business. As chief creative officer, Donatella expanded the brand to include fragrance, accessories, home decor, and even hotels — not to mention reimagining both the Versus and haute couture line Atelier Versace. Though Donatella stepped down from her role as Versace's creative director in 2025, she remains at the forefront of her family's brand as Chief Brand Ambassador. Donatella's steadfast commitment to preserving her brother's legacy, solidifying her own, and influencing the fashion industry at large makes her quote of the day more relevant than ever.

Donatella Versace understands firsthand how the way you dress can impact how you are perceived — both by other people and internally. During an interview with Vogue Australia in 2012, Donatella said, "Fashion is a weapon that you can use when you need it. I think my own look makes people think I'm tough but when they get to know me I'm very different. It's like armour that was useful to me in the first years after Gianni's death." Donatella utilized her style to navigate the public eye after her brother's passing, keeping up appearances even when she was at her lowest.

ISTANBUL (AP) — Israel did not warn the United States before it struck an air base in northern Syria this week, despite fears of an escalation with the U.S. and NATO ally Turkey, the U.S. special envoy to Syria said.
Israel usually closely coordinates its military actions with the U.S., its key backer. Washington has tried to use this influence to moderate attacks as Israel carries out operations in Syria, Gaza and Lebanon.
Tom Barrack, who also serves as ambassador to Turkey, said the attack on Tuesday on the Abu Duhur base could have been Israel "baiting the Turks … that was the serious and worrying part."
However, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz contradicted the U.S. envoy's remarks about there being no warning, saying in a statement that Israel decided to alert senior members of the Syrian government. "Simultaneously, we transferred the intelligence reports to the relevant authorities in the U.S.," Katz added.
In the wake of the strikes, which caused damage but no casualties, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the base was attacked because Syria was "on the verge of breaching" an agreement by allowing Turkish troops to deploy there.

Iran's president says the world has accepted that it's won the war with the United States, while France and Saudi Arabia are expected to discuss plans to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has been effectively closed since the U.S. and Israel launched a war with Iran nearly six months ago.
Meanwhile remarks by the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and special envoy for Syria appear to contradict official U.S. position over the Golan Heights.
Here's a look at the latest developments in the Iran war and the wider Middle East on Saturday. Full coverage can be found here.
Iranian state media reported Friday that President Masoud Pezeshkian said the war with the U.S. should end since the world has already accepted that Iran has won. Iran sees its control over the Strait and not giving into U.S. demands as a win.
"The entire world approved our victory and the U.S. is hated," he said according to IRNA news agency. Iran sees its control over the Strait and not giving into U.S. demands as a win.

Margaret Qualley just proved that when it comes to fashion, there's apparently no such thing as too little shoe.
On August 20, the 31-year-old actress hit the red carpet for the premiere of The Dog Stars in London. As a Chanel ambassador, it wasn't surprising to see her dressed from head-to-toe in the brand, but it's her footwear that's causing a scene.

JERUSALEM, Aug 20 (Reuters) - U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has warned militant Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank not to steal property owned by Palestinian Americans, describing such behavior as "a violation of God's law".
Huckabee, a Baptist minister and longtime supporter of ‌Israel's settlements, told Reuters in an interview that settlers found to have taken part in a siege of homes in the West Bank village ‌of Qusra, including one belonging to Palestinian American Loui Ridi, could be punished with U.S. sanctions.
Israeli settlers began encircling homes in Qusra on August 9, in what rights groups said was an attempt to seize privately owned Palestinian land. The case has drawn international condemnation.
Israel's military has deployed dozens of troops to the area and has since pushed the settlers back from the homes. But they remain nearby and residents including Ridi say they fear the settlers will encroach on their properties again once those troops pull back.

Representatives for the beauty brand Neutrogena have broken their silence about their treatment of their former ambassador Hayden Panettiere following her death.
While promoting her memoir earlier this year, the Heroes actress claimed that Neutrogena dropped her as their brand ambassador after 10 years in 2015 because she spoke about her postpartum depression battle on a U.S. talk show.
The allegations resurfaced this week after Panettiere died on Sunday, prompting backlash against the company, which saw its stock spiral amid a fan boycott.
Addressing the uproar on social media on Thursday, reps for Neutrogena acknowledged that they made her feel "unsupported" while she was struggling.
"For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community," they wrote. "We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time. This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be."
They praised Panettiere's "courage" in speaking out about a taboo subject and vowed to make a "significant investment to a long-standing community health partner" to support women's health causes, including postpartum depression.

Neutrogena has broken its silence about former ambassador Hayden Panettiere's death following days of backlash against the skincare brand over its treatment of the late actor.
Panettiere was found dead Sunday at age 36, prompting interviews and comments from the Nashville star to resurface, including her remarks earlier this year that Neutrogena "fired" her in 2015 after she spoke about her postpartum depression.
"We are deeply saddened by Hayden Panettiere's passing," Neutrogena said in a statement posted to its social media accounts Thursday. "For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community."
"We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time. This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be," the statement continued.

In the build-up to the return of La Liga action, former Real Madrid winger turned La Liga ambassador and ESPN pundit Steve McManaman spoke at a press conference to address the changes at the Bernabéu this summer and the expectations on Jose Mourinho.
"He needs to win. It's as simple as that. He needs to beat Barcelona. He needs to win the league. I don't necessarily think he needs to win the Champions League, but I certainly think he needs to finish above Barcelona," McManaman said.
"He's been brought in because the last two years have been disappointing. Real Madrid can't go three years without winning anything. And your nearest and dearest rivals are in Barcelona winning everything. So Jose has to hit the ground running and he has to be successful straight away. That's what he's being brought in for."
"When we won all those ****** les with the names you mentioned, we had an incredible number six in Claude Makélélé who really helped the midfield… Real Madrid this year have tried to rectify that. I think they were weak defensively last year. He was the most important player in our team. Forget about Figo, Zidane, Raúl, Ronaldo. Zidane said the most important player was Makélélé."
"To be very honest, I never ever thought he would leave Real Madrid. I really didn't. I know there was a lot of stories in the English newspapers about ****** nal, but if you see Vinícius Júnior at Madrid, I thought most people think he was never going to leave. I don't think he was ever going to go to Saudi Arabia. That didn't make any sense at all for me. So his home is Madrid. I'm glad he signed a new six-year contract… The most important thing is for Vini and for Kylian to play in the same team, but each finds a role where they're very comfortable in, and drive Madrid forward."

On Friday, we got confirmation that San Francisco would be the host city for Major League Baseball's 2028 All-Star Game. It's very cool news and it gives us all something to look forward to as we wait for the Giants' next competitive window to open in 2030. And, of course, it's more than just the game itself. There's the Home Run Derby, the Futures Game, celebrity interactions, the draft, and an All-Star village. So, I figured this would be a good place to gather everything we know about the event so far. I promise I'm not riffing through the entire article, but it's a lot of riffing.
No exact date yet, but it's almost certainly the week of July 12th, which is when the Baseball portion of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles will kickoff. That tournament runs July 13-19 at Dodger Stadium.
Last month, Bruce Meyer, who's leading the negotiations on behalf of the MLB Players ***** ociation, indicated that he knew San Francisco had already been chosen as the site of the 2028 All-Star Game to which Rob Manfred responded, "With all due respect, Bruce does not pick the All-Star Games. He's not necessarily correct."
It would be funny if the situation wasn't so dire. Commissioner Manfred has been a terrible ambassador of the sport, a true antagonist to players and fans, a bad businessman, and now he's going to carry water for the owners who want to try to bleed the sport for more profit.
The reason why Oracle Park was chosen as the 2028 site had less to do with the city or the stadium or even that it had been a long time since the game had been hosted there and more to do with proximity to the Olympics. Being an hour away by plane really takes some of the pressure off for making sure as many great players can participate. The sticking point is that the league is trying to negotiate a new CBA along with the details of Olympics participation. If the negotiations drag on, it's not wild to imagine the owners blaming the players for there being no MLB representation in the summer games or whatever.

Danny Trejo leads Aspercreme's "KO Boomer" campaign

"When you live hard, you're gonna get sore—I don't care how old you are," he explained. "I'm still doing action movies at 82, so believe me, I feel it. But a tough guy can't be walking around smelling like a medicine cabinet. That's why I use Aspercreme—it really works to target my pain, and there's no weird smell. Worlds collided last month when the Tennessee ******* ans sideline mascot T-Rac hit it off with a real-life raccoon while on set photographing his new look.
Nashville's National Football League team first unveiled its new logo, uniform, and official colors in spring 2026, and a few months later, T-Rac's rebrand came. Instead of brown fur and bright blue eyes, he now has more realistic gray fur and a friendlier gaze. As part of the promo photoshoot that took place in July, the ******* ans extended an invite to Gizzard, one of the raccoons at Nashville-based wildlife rescue Vermin Sanctuary.
"Obviously she took the ******* ignment very seriously," Vermin Sanctuary founder Kara Kirkland said in a social media post. "Raccoons are Tennessee's state wild animal, and getting to pair Gizzard with a character that so many Tennesseans already know and love is such a special opportunity to get people excited about our native wildlife. We want people to learn how to peacefully coexist with their wild neighbors, what to do if they find a critter that might need help, and why the wild should remain in the wild."
Kirkland started the nonprofit rescue during the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of taking in injured or orphaned animals, rehabilitating them, and releasing them back into nature in the proper manner. She specializes in raccoons, opossums, and other "misunderstood species," and since the start, she's saved dozens of animals across Tennessee.
Gizzard, T-Rac's newest friend, is working as an educational ambassador for the nonprofit, raising awareness about what to do if you encounter a wild animal that may need help.

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank village of Qusra have huddled inside their homes for days on end, unable to leave because of the threat posed by Israeli settlers.
The Israeli military, which over the past three years has displayed staggering military and intelligence capabilities from Beirut to Tehran, has yet to fully remove the settlers from the area of the village, about an hour's drive from Tel Aviv.
The United States, which provides billions of dollars in military aid to Israel, has issued a scathing rebuke, perhaps because one of the homeowners is a Palestinian American living in Ohio.
U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee referred to the settlers as "terrorists." Israel's defense minister dismissed them as radical misfits — "boys on the hills."
In reality, they are the tip of the spear for a much larger movement, supported by successive Israeli governments and supercharged under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that is aimed at cementing Israeli rule over the territory and preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The Los Angeles Lakers could soon change hands again in a deal that underscores the soaring value of California's most iconic sports brands.
A group led by businessman Joshua Kushner and former Disney CEO Robert Iger has agreed to purchase the Lakers from owner Mark Walter in a transaction valued at $12 billion, according to statements released by the parties involved. If approved, the sale would set a new record for a North American sports franchise, eclipsing the $10 billion valuation attached to Walter's purchase of the team last year.
"As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world," Kushner and Iger said in a joint statement.
The buyers behind the record-setting Lakers deal come from two very different corners of the business world.
Joshua Kushner is a billionaire entrepreneur and venture capitalist best known as the founder of Thrive Capital, a New York-based investment firm that has backed some of the technology industry's biggest companies. Through Thrive and other investments, Kushner has built a reputation as one of the nation's most influential tech investors. He is also part of the Kushner family, a prominent name in real estate and business. Kushner is also the brother of Jared Kushner, who served as a senior adviser in President Donald Trump's first administration and is married to Trump's daughter. His father, real estate developer Charles Kushner, has served as U.S. ambassador to France since 2025.

Chrissy Metz has opened up about using drugs on her weight-loss journey.
The actor and singer, who is best known for playing Kate Pearson in the TV drama This Is Us from 2016 to 2022, has signed up as a celebrity brand ambassador for telehealth GLP-1 weight loss programme Ro.
The Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee shared with People magazine that after years of trying diets that didn't work, "I just wanted to take care of myself."
"I'm not getting any younger," she told the outlet. "I'm in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I've tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me."
The Hunting Wives star admits she was sceptical about weight-loss drugs for years, **** uming they wouldn't work for her or would give her horrible side effects, but so far, she's been having a positive experience.
"It's so nice not to be obsessing about what I'm going to have every minute, even as I'm still consuming the meal. I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn't eat this or that. And it's been helping me be more mobile and have less joint pain and inflammation, and run around onstage."

Chrissy Metz has revealed that she is taking a GLP-1 medication after years of skepticism, saying concerns about her long-term health eventually persuaded her to reconsider.
The 45-year-old This Is Us star said perimenopause, obesity within her family and health problems involving her father all contributed to her decision. She discussed the treatment with her doctor and says she ultimately concluded that trying a GLP-1 could be beneficial for her.
Metz, who is now a brand ambassador for telehealth company Ro, says one of the biggest changes has been a reduction in what she calls "food noise", the persistent thoughts about food and what she would eat next. She has also reported improvements in mobility, joint pain, inflammation, energy and blood work.
Metz began taking a GLP-1 later, in 2026, after she had already publicly discussed changing her diet, exercising and working with a trainer.
Metz told PEOPLE that she had spent years **** uming a GLP-1 either would not work for her or would produce side effects she did not want. Her experience so far has been more positive than she expected.

The 6th edition of Bayern Munich's World Squad project recently ended, with the camp ending in a 2-1 defeat to Bayern's U-19s. If one wishes to learn about the Bayern World Squad, one can read about it here. The TLDR is Bayern chooses a squad of 23-26 U-19 players for a month long training camp, in which the children visit different countries, cultures and teams to play, working together to culminate in a final showdown against Bayern's U-19s. The players are either chosen from videos submissions the players themselves send of their best skills, outstanding players of the Global Academy or repeat members from last year's World Squad.
Heading the project since 2023 is former Bayern striker and icon Roy Makaay, who was joined by another former Bayern player Diego Contento in the coaching staff in 2024. Given Contento's role in the Global Academy, he is an important link between that project and the World Squad. Before the most recent edition of the project ended, the duo sat down with Bayern to discuss this year's plans. The club's official website has the transcript:
Roy and Diego, what does it mean to you to be part of this special project again in the sixth World Squad season?
Roy Makaay: "I'm very proud I get to act as an FC Bayern brand ambassador and coach the World Squad for the fourth time. It's always a lot of fun, even though the weeks are very intense and challenging each time. After the four weeks, I always board the plane satisfied. For me, it has nothing to do with the results but above all with the players' development."
Diego Contento: "It's a great honour to be part of this project. The World Squad is a unique platform for young talents, and I'm glad I get to accompany them on their journey."

It's been a tough offseason for the Blue Jackets, who've been putting out fires ever since it became public in late June that stars Zach Werenski and Kirill Marchenko weren't planning to stay long-term.
More: Hockey fans, internet react to Blue Jackets radio broadcast changes
There have also been lengthy negotiations with key restricted free agents. Jet Greaves and Cole Sillinger nearly reached arbitration hearings, and Adam Fantilli remains unsigned, so it's been a battle for president/general manager Don Waddell to keep the arrow pointed in the right direction.
And that's just the hockey side.
The Blue Jackets' business side is also taking hits with decisions to part ways with longtime radio voice Bob McElligott and team reporter Jeff Svoboda, who'd become team ambassadors in their respective roles. Those moves followed on the heels of the Jackets announcing their TV broadcast will shift from FanDuel to an NHL Productions product.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The United States announced Wednesday that it had suspended all government operations in the Mexican state of Michoacan because of a "threat to U.S. interests," including a halt to the inspections of avocados required for their export.
While the U.S. Embassy did not specify the nature of the threat in its security alert, Michoacan Gov. Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla said on social media that the temporary halt to inspections was intended to safeguard workers following recent arrests linked to extortion. The inspections are necessary for avocados to be shipped to the United States and their suspension could disrupt exports.
The western state of Michoacan is the leading exporter of avocados to the U.S. and has a high level of organized crime activity with at least four cartels — designated as terrorist organizations by the Trump administration — operating in the region. Besides trafficking drugs, cartels also make money through extortion, including of the avocado industry.
Michoacan State Security Secretary Antonio Cruz told The **** ociated Press that one of the arrests mentioned by the governor was of "El Poncho," the alias of Alfonso Fernández Magallón, leader of a local cartel operating in the avocado-growing region around Los Reyes.
U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ronald Johnson welcomed the arrest, which came over the weekend. The U.S. government had offered a $5 million reward for Fernández Magallón's arrest.

Simone Biles, wife of former Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, arrived at Lima's Jorge Chávez International Airport in Peru on Monday night. She has recently been named a Global Ambassador for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, and the countdown to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games has already begun. The spectacular event is expected to kick off at 3 PM on Thursday, Aug. 6, with Peruvians set to join in the celebrations.
Biles has shared some updates on her Instagram stories through a few photos, showing the US Olympic gymnast wearing New Balance shoes (model 9060), in a black outfit with matching goggles. From the background of the pictures, it looks like she is at the ancient Incan fortress and agricultural terraces of Ollantaytambo, located in Peru's Sacred Valley.
"Hi, everyone! It's so nice to be in your beautiful country. I can't wait to meet you all!" she said in a video post on X.
"I'm so excited to visit Peru for the first time to celebrate the start of the one-year countdown to the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima," Biles said (h/t Panam Sports). "I can't wait to see you all at Lima's Plaza Mayor on August 6… See you there".
