July 28 (Reuters) - EBay and three former top executives have agreed to pay $55.7 million to resolve a lawsuit by a Massachusetts couple who fell victim to a bizarre stalking and harassment campaign carried out by several of its employees in retaliation for their coverage of the e-commerce company in a newsletter they publish.
David and Ina Steiner announced the settlement late on Monday, bringing an end to a case they filed in 2021 in Boston federal court after several former eBay employees were prosecuted for targeting them in a cyber-stalking campaign that involved sending the couple **** roaches, fly larvae and a **** Halloween pig mask.
As part of the settlement, eBay agreed to pay $46.15 million to the couple; fund $6 million in charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations; and issue a "strongly-worded" statement about the conduct of three of its top former executives.
"We believe this resolution sends a clear message that corporations and their executives cannot engage in this type of misconduct without facing significant consequences," Christopher Murphy, the Steiners' attorney, said in a statement.

A new Kicker financial investigation reveals that Dietmar Hopp injected another €40m into Hoffenheim in the summer of 2025. Together with the €80m contribution made one year earlier, the software billionaire pumped €120m into the club between August 2024 and August 2025.
The money helped cover losses of €23.2m in 2023/24 and €26.6m in 2024/25. It also left Hoffenheim with an impressive €219.1m in equity.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi announced himself on the international stage in spectacular fashion during India's first T20I against Zimbabwe on Thursday, becoming the youngest player ever to score a maiden T20I half-century.
The 15-year-old became the youngest player to score a maiden T20I half-century after racing to an 18-ball fifty in Harare. It was a timely response from the teenage batter, who had managed scores of 14, 13 and 15 in his first three appearances for India during the T20I series against England.
Following those outings, Sooryavanshi was left out of the playing XI for the fifth and final T20I. His exclusion came amid intense scrutiny over India's selection decisions. Earlier in the England series, Sanju Samson, who had been India's Player of the Tournament during their T20 World Cup-winning campaign, was dropped from the side, with Sooryavanshi brought into the XI. However, for the fifth match, the management reversed course, restoring Samson and leaving out the youngster. Samson was subsequently omitted from India's squad for the Zimbabwe tour.
Former India captain and ex-BCCI selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth admitted he was baffled by the decision to drop Sooryavanshi after only three failures and took aim at head coach Gautam Gambhir over the move.
"He (Sooryavanshi) has an effortless range of shots, yet, not one shot was cross-batted. This boy is really something special. How did Gautam Gambhir foolishly drop him, of all people, after three failures to crush his confidence?" said Srikkanth, speaking on his YouTube channel, as quoted by Sportskeeda.
With Gambhir not accompanying the team on the Zimbabwe tour, former India batter VVS Laxman is serving as the side's interim head coach.
Srikkanth also highlighted the youngster's commitment to improvement, revealing that Sooryavanshi immediately returned to work after the England series rather than taking a break.
"I salute Vaibhav for his dedication. After the England series, he didn't go home and instead went straight to the Rajasthan Royals camp. He has been working on his batting against the short ball because he wants to prove to the whole world that he is special," Srikkanth added.
The 1983 World Cup winner was equally impressed by the fearless approach shown by Sooryavanshi despite the pressure of retaining his place in the national side. According to Srikkanth, many young players would have opted for a safer route after a string of low scores, but the teenager remained committed to his attacking game.
"The ease at which he scores at a 250 strike rate is extraordinary. Normally, after three failures, other players would have tried to safeguard their place in the Indian team by taking singles and twos. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said American companies should be free to use Chinese open-source artificial intelligence models, positioning himself against Trump administration officials and U.S. AI labs that have sought to restrict them.
"These Chinese models are excellent," Huang told Axios on Tuesday. "Open-source models that are excellent should be used." He said companies should "absolutely" be allowed to use them.
The remarks came as the release of Kimi K3, a model from Beijing-based Moonshot AI that combines near-frontier performance, lower prices, and open weights, has rattled chip and AI stocks, reviving concerns that cheaper models could undercut the case for large AI infrastructure spending. Huang argued Wall Street has the situation backward. "Free AI should be great for hardware," he said. "Free AI should be great for chips. Free AI should be great for data centers." Cheaper and more accessible models draw more people into AI ecosystems, he argued, and that broader adoption ultimately drives up demand for the chips and data centers that Nvidia provides.
Huang also rejected the argument that downloaded Chinese models create a security backdoor to Beijing. Companies can customize those models and run them inside secure environments, he said, and openness makes AI more secure because outside researchers can inspect models and identify weaknesses. "If everything just becomes one single model, one single point of attack, one single source of failure, I think the world is much, much more vulnerable," he said.
His comments came hours after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business that the administration is examining Chinese AI models for evidence of stolen U.S. intellectual property and considering sanctions. "If we see ... that overseas models are stealing from our great companies, we have the ability to sanction them because of this theft," Bessent said, according to Axios. For the first time in the program's history, Medicare is covering weight-loss drugs, and the price tag looks almost too good to pass up.
Beginning July 1, eligible Part D enrollees can access medications including Wegovy, Foundayo, and the Zepbound KwikPen for a flat $50 monthly copay through a temporary federal demonstration called the Medicare GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) Bridge.
That is a massive discount compared to the retail price of these drugs, which can exceed $1,000 per month without insurance coverage.
It arrives at a moment when roughly 56% of GLP-1 users say affordability is a significant challenge, a poll from KFF, the health policy research organization, found.
But this is not traditional Part D coverage, and the distinction creates financial consequences that could blindside enrollees who ******* ume the program works like every other Medicare prescription benefit they have used.

Newcastle United's summer has quickly become a study in modern football tension, ambition on one side, regulation and market forces on the other. In the latest The Athletic DealSheet, the picture that emerges around Newcastle is sobering, detailed and deeply revealing. This is a club still striving to grow under Eddie Howe, yet also one discovering that progress in elite football rarely runs in a straight line.
There is no shortage of intent at St James' Park. There is, however, a shortage of room for error. Missing out on Europe has bitten hard. The competitive consequences are obvious, but the financial aftershock may prove even more significant. As reported, "Failing to get back into the Champions League or any form of UEFA competition for 2026-27 has massively hit Newcastle's revenue streams, costing the club an estimated £60m in annual income." That sentence alone explains much of the club's current caution, compromise and calculation.
Supporters will understandably focus first on names, on who is arriving, who is leaving, who has chosen somewhere else. Yet this summer for Newcastle is about more than an individual target won or lost. It is about status, financial architecture and whether the club can keep building while burdened by the very restrictions that tend to accompany accelerated ambition.
The Athletic's reporting makes clear that Newcastle are not operating with the freedom many supporters might **** ume ownership wealth should bring. "Despite not being in Europe for the upcoming campaign, Newcastle are still being governed by the strict future-compliance settlement they have reached with UEFA," a line that cuts to the centre of the issue. Money exists in theory, but not all of it can be deployed as fans might wish.
This is why recent sales matter so much. The departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali were not football decisions in isolation, they were structural ones. According to the report, "Offloading Gordon ensured Newcastle would avoid a further breach, while Tonali's sale gives the club far greater scope to invest more widely across the squad this summer." "Market feedback suggests that the September 2022 gilt market turmoil marked a structural shift in the fragility of the gilt market," it said. "Policy credibility and predictability are key to strengthening market confidence and reversing the impact of the September 2022 episode."
The IMF added that foreign investors have become bigger participants in the U.K. bond market, estimating that global factors accounted for 60%-90% of the variation in yields between 2020 and 2026.
That could leave the U.K. more vulnerable to volatile capital flows and "fast money" that's more price sensitive, the report warned.

Although the team tried to downplay the impact of the presidential effort to suspend Balogun's one-game suspension in the immediate aftermath of the game, Balogun admitted on Tuesday that it had an impact on the players.
“When I kind of started to reflect, I knew it was going to cause a lot of controversy and I could almost see within my teammates a bit of nerves because it’s something that’s so unique," Balogun said in an appearance on CBS This Morning, via Sports Business Journal.
"The closer we got to the game, I tried to just focus as best as I could," Balogun said. "But it was difficult. A lot of outside noise, and that’s hard to avoid."

Here we will be keeping track of each draftee taken by the Tampa Bay Rays over the course of the draft, their projected signing amount, and how much they actually signed for.
The Rays have a bonus pool of $19,09,300 that they are alloted to spend on the selections they made over the first 10 rounds of the draft; for every pick after the 10th round, any amount over $150,000 will be counted towards a team’s pool. If a team overspends, they would face the following consequences:
0-5%: 75% tax
5-10%: 75% tax and lose future 1st round pick

FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who has been hopscotching around North America for most of the last month to attend as many World Cup matches as humanly possible (we've wondered at times whether he has a teleportation device and/or a body double), can't outrun the biggest controversy of the tournament.
The about-face regarding the suspension resulting from U.S. striker Folarin Balogun's red card in the Round of 32, apparently instigated by a phone call from President Trump to Infantino, has had consequences well beyond Belgium trolling Trump with his trademark two-fisted dance.
Rohith Nair of Reuters reports that FairSquare, a human-rights group, has said it file a complaint with the International Olympic Committee over Infantino's "repeated breach of political neutrality rules," specifically as a result of Infantino's arguable kowtowing to Trump.
Previously, FairSquare filed a complaint with the FIFA Ethics Committee in December 2025, based on multiple instances in which Infantino "expressed his public support for the actions and policies" of Trump. The group also complained about Infantino awarding Trump the previously nonexistent FIFA Peace Prize.
Separately, at least 35 European lawmakers have asked the national football ***** ociations of the various European Union countries to request the FIFA Ethics Committee to investigate whether political pressure on Infantino from the top of the U.S. government was a factor in the lifting of the Balogun suspension, along with "other potential breaches of political neutrality" by Infantino — including the phony-baloney Peace Prize, per the ***** ociated Press.
