AMD and Intel compete for processor customers, but they have a common interest in making developers comfortable staying with x86. A September 2 GCC commit added initial support for their AI Compute Extensions, or ACE, bringing that shared strategy into a widely used compiler's development code.
For Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), the potential payoff is broader software adoption. The immediate event is much narrower: compiler infrastructure, followed by instruction-support commits. It is not evidence that compatible processors have shipped or that GCC 17 is a finished release.
The x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group's April whitepaper describes a common matrix-acceleration architecture shaped by both companies. Matrix multiplication is central to many AI workloads. A shared instruction interface could reduce the effort needed to target those operations across future processors.
That matters commercially because buyers consider the software work required to use hardware, alongside its price and performance. If developers can support both suppliers more easily, a processor purchase may depend more on execution and less on maintaining separate software paths.
For Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD), the bull case is an easier route for compatible future CPUs into AI-related workloads. The risk is that a shared standard also improves the rival's appeal. Compiler support alone cannot demonstrate AMD's eventual performance advantage, customer adoption or incremental profit.

NEW DELHI: India pacer Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women's Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday.

Gaud was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
Gaud breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to "using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match."

The incident took place in the first over of Sri Lanka's innings. After dismissing opener Imesha Dulani, Gaud gestured in the direction of the pavilion.

Gaud admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Saleema Imtiaz and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Humaira Farah levelled the charge.
Along with the 10 per cent fine, one demerit point has been added to Gaud's disciplinary record.

It was her first offence in a 24-month period.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee. They can also result in one or two demerit points.
Pakistan have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Women's Asia Cup semifinal against Sri Lanka on Friday.

G.S. Lakshmi of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Pakistan were found to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their team fails to bowl in the allotted time.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction. Therefore, there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan levelled the charge.

Tech stocks fell on Monday, as AI industry leaders raised concerns about the future of the technology and its potential to harm humans. The Nasdaq fell roughly 0.8% in early trading. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell more than 4%.
The episode began last week when an Anthropic researcher announced he was leaving the company via a post on X, saying he didn't feel it was doing enough to keep AI in check.
Anthropic Alignment Science Lead, Evan Hubinger, responded the post saying the former Anthropic worker is correct and that he believes there is a greater-than-10 % chance that the technology could "kill all humans."
On Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei posted an essay responding to the posts, calling on AI companies to slow the pace of frontier AI development. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman agreed.
And on Monday, Reuters reported that Microsoft is developing its own code of conduct for its AI models.

AI stocks are getting absolutely crushed in premarket trading on Monday after Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) CEO Dario Amodei dropped a gloomy 3,800-word essay that rattled investor confidence across the entire semiconductor and AI infrastructure complex.

Dire warnings on AI from the CEOs of Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) and OpenAI (OPAI.PVT) could weigh especially heavily on the business of CoreWeave if the tech is reined in.

Chicago White Sox amateur scouting director Mike Shirley resigned on Saturday in the wake of an internal investigation into verbal harassment allegations, according to The Athletic.
Shirley was reportedly placed on administrative leave after the White Sox received an anonymous tip about his conduct at last month's Area Code Games in Long Beach, California. He was alleged to have made racial and ****** ist comments both about coworkers and in front of coworkers.
The White Sox human resources department reportedly launched an investigation into Shirley, interviewing members of his scouting department. It remains unclear what findings the investigation made.
This reportedly wasn't the first time Shirley faced an internal investigation over his behavior. In 2022, he was investigated after a former employee left the club and flagged his behavior toward scouts from underrpresented groups. The tip was made to MLB and later passed on to the White Sox, whose investigation did not find any bias in his hiring practices or behavior.
This latest investigation reportedly included allegations of vulgar language about women and their bodies.

CrowdStrike continues to operate at a massive scale with strong cash generation and expanding margins. For Q2 FY2027, CrowdStrike reported total revenue of $1.47 billion, up 26% year-over-year, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) reaching $5.84 billion (up 25%) after adding a record $333 million in net new ARR. GAAP net income turned positive at $5.3 million ($0.01 per diluted share), while non-GAAP net income reached $322.9 million ($0.31 per diluted share). Operating cash flow hit a Q2 record of $530.3 million, with free cash flow reaching $377.4 million. Expanding its momentum, CrowdStrike announced a partnership with OpenAI on September 2 to secure Codex agents and integrate GPT-5.6 Cyber into Falcon, prompting Raymond James to raise its price target to $250 from $240 on September 3, citing an "AI double whammy."
Rubrik, meanwhile, represents the hyper-growth challenger outperforming Wall Street's top-line expectations. For Q2 FY2027, Rubrik's total revenue surged 38% year-over-year to $427.3 million (up 43% when normalized for material rights), while Subscription ARR grew 33% to $1.66 billion. While GAAP net loss per share narrowed to $(0.30), Rubrik achieved non-GAAP net income per share of $0.20 ($0.47–$0.53 guidance for full FY27). Operating cash flow reached $76.8 million, generating $65.7 million in free cash flow. While CrowdStrike holds the stronger overall financial profile given its $5.84 billion ARR scale and $377.4 million free cash flow generation, Rubrik leads in top-line growth velocity.
CrowdStrike's bull case rests on its leadership in endpoint and identity security, proven GAAP and non-GAAP profitability, and deep AI integrations with platforms such as OpenAI and Charlotte AI, which could drive further platform consolidation and high-margin ARR growth. However, slower percentage growth compared with younger peers, elevated valuation multiples, and lingering customer scrutiny following past software update disruptions remain key risks.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) and ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ: ASML) have recently provided fresh evidence that High-NA EUV lithography is advancing in commercial manufacturing. At the SPIE Photomask Technology + Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography conference, the two companies announced several updates related to this technology and next-generation chip production.
While the update offers evidence of High-NA's manufacturing readiness, Intel faces a financial test about whether production improvements translate into better foundry returns. For ASML, it is whether greater manufacturing readiness ultimately leads to broader customer adoption and demand.
According to the companies, more than one million wafers have now been processed using High-NA EUV across early tool certification and testing, research and development efforts, and volume production on select layers for a subset of Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 processors, code-named Panther Lake.
The products that have been manufactured on Intel 18A using High NA for select layers continue to deliver performance, the companies noted, meeting or exceeding comparable layers patterned using the NXE platform.

Bayern Munich scored five goals against Norwegian underdogs FK Bodø/Glimt. The rust in the Bavarians was evident as they struggled to build rhythm. The second half turned out to be a much better affair as Vincent Kompany's men found their feet and blew their opponents away.
Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Michael Olise were frontrunners who woke the rest of the team up with their individual brilliance and finally reaped their rewards in the second half with deserved goals and ***** ists. Luis Diaz had an off day and was perhaps the only starter who couldn't pick himself up before the end of the game.
Without further ado, here are the match awards from Bayern Munich's first game and first victory of the Champions League season.
While Bodø/Glimt as a unit were fantastic in capitalizing on Bayern's rustiness by isolating the attackers, they failed to make scoresheet gains. In Bayern's emphatic attempts to crack the Bodø code, there were a few vulnerabilities especially early into the game. With some more numbers, the Norwegians could have sneaked at least one goal. Helmersen's shot at Neuer's open goal was a brave lone effort from his pressing.
Nonetheless, Kjetil Knutsen and his team deserve a shoutout for executing a great low-block. Nikita Haikin, the starting goalkeeper made some important saves and kept the game even. Unfortunately, he had to leave the pitch after the first half due to injury.

The human rights organization FairSquare has filed another complaint with the FIFA ethics committee against the federation president, Gianni Infantino.
The complaint accuses Infantino of violating the FIFA code of ethics. All of the incidents are linked to United States President Donald Trump, according to the document, excerpts of which have been provided to dpa.
"Taken together, they provide compelling evidence that, in his efforts to curry favour with the US president, the FIFA president has, at the very least, abused his power, violated his duty of political neutrality, and breached his duty of loyalty," the complaint states.
"The evidence that he sought to get personal benefit from this pattern of behaviour further underscores the seriousness of the allegations."

Australia's Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) has cancelled the registration of C&N Southwest Sydney after finding serious breaches in professional conduct and determining that the company no longer met registration requirements.
The tax watchdog's investigation concluded that C&N Southwest Sydney director Elle Ristevski, along with de facto and shadow director Peter Ristevski, were no longer "fit and proper persons", a statement said.
According to the TPB, the Sydney-based company violated 12 provisions of the code of professional conduct.
The investigation found evidence that the business gave false or misleading information to the TPB during its inquiries.
The board also found that false or misleading information had been supplied to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). The information was used to support clients in appointing 'straw directors'.

Roger Goodell reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension, the league announced Sunday. The deal runs through March 2031 and would mark 25 seasons with Goodell in charge, if he completes the contract.
The compensation committee headed by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft informed the full ownership regarding the extension. The memo, reviewed by Sportico, said the committee worked with a third-party compensation consultant and outside counsel to "structure a deal that aligns Roger's compensation with the League's long-term interests and success." The value of the deal was not disclosed, but the memo stated that it is bonus heavy with more than 95% of the total compensation tied to Goodell's and the NFL's performance measured against certain metrics.
