Barclays Women's Super League fixtures for the 2026-27 season have finally been released.
The schedule is always published later than many supporters would like because a number of clubs share stadiums with men's teams. The league therefore has to wait until the fixture lists for the top five tiers of the men's game have been finalised before confirming dates.
It should be a slightly less congested campaign for ***** nal than last season. The club are not involved in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup, avoiding a trip to Miami, while there is no Subway Players' Cup either, as clubs competing in the UEFA Women's Champions League are exempt on player welfare grounds.
The previous format, which awarded Champions League clubs a bye to the quarter-finals, provided a significant advantage. The fact that only ***** nal, Chelsea and Manchester City have ever won the competition suggests that format may not have helped competitive balance. With none of those three clubs involved this season, a new name will be added to the trophy.

The pick of the opening weekend's games sees big-spending London City Lionesses play host to Manchester United at The Copperjax Community Stadium in Bromley. Both clubs will be chasing European qualification this season and potentially more.
Other notable fixtures see Chelsea play host to Aston Villa while **** nal go to Brighton & Hove Albion. There's also a London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
The other opening weekend fixtures see Manchester City play host to Barclays WSL2 champions Birmingham City while the two other promoted sides, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace, have home ties against Liverpool and Everton.
All fixture dates and kick-off times across the entire season will be announced in due course.

The opening game of the new Barclays WSL2 season will see last season's FA Women's National League divisional champions Watford and Burnley go head-to-head at Vicarage Road.
Elsewhere on the opening weekend in Barclays WSL2, relegated Leicester City go to Sheffield United while Sunderland's new era begins with a home fixture against Bristol City.
Durham's first game under new ownership sees them play host to Southampton while Ipswich Town have a home game against Nottingham Forest and newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers go to Newcastle United.
All fixture dates and kick-off times will be announced in due course.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Addicks this afternoon.
The 33-year-old joins Charlton Athletic following a short spell with Leicester City. Neville joined The Foxes in January and made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions. She was unable to keep the East Midlands side in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Neville is best known for her eight-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur. She was a Barclays WSL2 promotion-winner and an Adobe Women's FA Cup runner-up in her time in North London. Neville was so often one of Spurs' top performers and she was unlucky not to receive an England call-up earlier in her career.
After joining Charlton Athletic, Neville said "I'm really happy. It's an exciting journey for myself and the club, so really happy to be here.
"I think I know what Karen [Hills] is about and vice versa [from working together at Spurs]; she knows what I bring. I think I know how good this pre-season's going to be and what Karen brings to the on and off of the pitch. I'm really looking forward to working with her again.

The 30-year-old joins Newcastle United from Barclays Women's Super League side Tottenham Hotspur. The Magpies have paid an undisclosed fee to Spurs to secure the player's services.
Thomas spent three years with Spurs after joining the club from Manchester United in summer 2023. She netted 13 goals in 66 appearances for The Lilywhites. She was an Adobe Women's FA Cup runner-up with Spurs in 2023/2024.
In addition to her spells with Spurs and Manchester United, Thomas has also turned out for Le Havre, West Ham United and Liverpool in her career to date.
On the international stage, Thomas has been capped by Scotland on 52 occasions in which she has scored 21 goals.

It has been revealed that the competition will now be known as the Subway Players Cup. Subway have agreed a new multi-year deal to remain the competition's principle sponsor.
The format of the competition is also changing. The group stage will adopt a Swiss-style league phase containing regional fixtures. Clubs will play a minimum of six league phase matches, an increase on previous years.
The eight highest-ranked clubs will progress to the knockout phase which is similar to what has been played out previously.
In a controversial move, the three Barclays Women's Super League clubs playing in Europe will not participate in the Subway Players Cup.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from West Ham United in summer 2021. Kiernan went on to make 76 appearances for The Reds in all competitions in which she scored 23 goals. The forward was a Barclays WSL2 ******* le-winner with Liverpool in 2021/2022.
On the international stage, Kiernan has been capped by the Republic of Ireland on 44 occasions while she has scored four goals for her country.
After joining Newcastle United, Kiernan said "I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to a fresh start and meeting the fans. It was a dream of mine to come and play professionally and to go to a club like Newcastle, it really felt right when the contact came in.

Barclays believes the next phase for equity markets will be determined by upcoming Big Tech earnings and a series of central bank meetings, as investors balance resilient corporate performance against mounting macroeconomic risks.

NEW YORK — The boos were deafening.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert was at center court inside Barclays Center. The New York Liberty had just beaten the Las Vegas Aces in the in-season tournament named after her job **** le, and as she took the mic to congratulate the team and announce the MVP, her voice was drowned out almost entirely.
It wasn’t the first time Engelbert was greeted with this level of public disdain. The growth of the league has been astronomical — a new media rights deal valued at $2.2 billion at the time has grown to $3 billion, according to reports. The league has expanded to 15 teams and will reach 18 by 2030, with expansion fees that have lined the pockets of the existing owners. It has been reported that Chelsea have paid an undisclosed fee to Leicester City to secure the player’s services.
The 18-year-old is a product of the Leicester City academy system. Las made her senior debut for The Foxes in October 2024. In total, she has gone on to make 23 appearances for the club at first team level.
Las spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town. She helped the club to retain their Barclays WSL2 status.
On the international stage, Las has represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-19 level. She is now pushing for honours with the Under-20s.

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 20 (Reuters) - Private investors are needed to funnel cash into European defence companies to plug the gap left by cash-strapped ‌governments, but too often bottlenecks and barriers are discouraging investment, senior finance executives ‌told the Farnborough Airshow on Monday.
"Public spending will not be enough, and we do need to mobilise private capital at scale," Cathal Deasy, global co-head of investment banking at British bank Barclays, told delegates, adding national governments needed to act faster and provide more clarity.
Bankers and investors are attending the annual aerospace event in record numbers this year, according to the event organisers, in ‌part drawn by the prospect of ⁠cashing in on a global boom in defence investing amid rising geopolitical tensions.
However, investor sentiment has cooled recently, reflected in weaker defence firm ⁠stock prices, while Franco-German defence group KNDS this month put on hold its stock market listing until conditions improve.

Investors in AI hyperscalers are set to digest yet another huge quarter of capital expenditures when results begin to trickle in later this month.
The unanswered question: Are the free-spending ways of tech execs finally reflected in the much lower stock valuations of their companies?
Big Tech capital expenditures/sales are expected to reach an all-time peak in the third quarter of this year, Barclays strategists pointed out in a new note (chart below). That essentially means aggressive AI spending continues to yield limited impact on sales and, by extension, profits.
Concerns in the market about hyperscaler capital expenditures aren't too hard to find.
All "Magnificent Seven" stocks have underperformed the S&P 500 (^GSPC) in 2026 except for Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL), which has notched a 15% year-to-date gain versus the benchmark index's 9.5% advance.

The 24-year-old American forward joined Crystal Palace from SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division club Athlone Town in the January transfer window. She initially signed an 18-month deal at Selhurst Park. Brady’s next career move is not yet known. The player regularly found the back of the net during her college career in the United States while she was in prolific goalscoring form as she started her senior career in the Republic of Ireland with Athlone Town. The forward is a talent and she has an exciting career ahead of her.

As club captain, Asllani was a driving force behind The Pride’s Barclays WSL2 **** le win in 2024/2025. Asllani continued to feature for London City Lionesses in the top tier last season before sustaining a complex multi-ligament injury, including an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
Asllani is currently in rehabilitation and may not be fit for some time but London City Lionesses have stood by the player and have agreed fresh terms for the new season.
After signing on again with London City Lionesses, Asllani said “History is constantly being written at this club. To have been part of it from the very start, to have believed when some did not, and to see what we’ve achieved in just two years is the most inspiring part of this journey.
“Helping pave the path, earning promotion to the WSL in our first season and seeing the club continue to grow makes me incredibly proud.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club X account this morning.
The 35-year-old midfielder joined Bristol City on a three-year deal last summer. Losada made 13 appearances for The Robins in Barclays WSL2 in 2025/2026, scoring one goal.
Losada arrived at Ashton Gate with a wealth of experience of playing at the top level. The player was a UEFA Women’s Champions League winner with FC Barcelona back in 2020/2021. Losada represented Barca across three separate spells. In total, she won 23 trophies with the club.
Losada will now return to her native Spain this season with FC Badalona. She joins a club who finished last season in 10th place in the Liga F Moeve table. FC Badalona have spent the last four seasons competing in the Spanish top flight and the club have long-term ambitions to kick on. Losada’s current club Bristol City and loan club FC Badalona fall under the Mercury13 multi-club ownership group.
Further Bristol City squad news will be announced by the club in due course.

Amazon (AMZN) is heading back to the bond market, this time looking to raise at least $25 billion. The plan, revealed in an SEC filing, splits the debt into eight parts that mature between three and 40 years. Officially, the money is for general corporate purposes, including debt repayment and funding investments. In reality, it's all about feeding Amazon's AI infrastructure. Barclays, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley are running the deal, with Amazon signaling this to be its last debt raise of the year.
The numbers behind Amazon's AI push explain the reason it needs the cash. The company plans to spend roughly $200 billion in 2026, a big jump from $131 billion in 2025. Even for a company as cash-rich as Amazon, spending on this scale is hard to fund from cash alone. Prior to this, Amazon had already raised around $54 billion in the U.S. and Europe, along with another $10 billion in Canada. CEO Andy Jassy has defended the heavy spending, calling AI a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that's worth betting big on.

Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE:NBR) is a large oil and gas drilling company with operations all over the world. The shares are up by 140% over the past year and by 48% year-to-date. RBC Capital discussed the firm in July as it kept a Hold rating and a $200 share price target. Media reports have suggested that the hostilities in the Middle East have benefited Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE:NBR) as oil supply disruptions have increased focus on oil drilling companies. This effect also appears to be present in the share price as the stock lost 13.9% between June 15th and June 24th after the US and Iran ceased hostilities.
Earlier in the year, in May, Barclays discussed Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE:NBR)'s stock. Barclays significantly raised the share price target to $99 from $65 and ******* ped the rating to Equalweight from Underweight. To justify its coverage, Barclays remarked that the energy services sector was in its best position in two decades.

The club first announced the arrival of midfielder Harrison-Murray. The 36-year-old has enjoyed a long career in the professional game in which she has turned out for the likes of ******* nal, Bristol Academy, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Liverpool and Birmingham City. Harrison-Murray's most successful spell arguably came at Birmingham City. She spent six years in the Midlands in which she captained the club and made 138 appearances in all competitions. She won Barclays WSL2 with Blues last season.
Harrison-Murray has signed a one-year contract at Burnley with the option of an additional year.
Centre-back Cooper's arrival at Burnley was announced soon after. She joined the Lancashire club following a two-year spell with Newcastle United. Cooper helped The Magpies to establish themselves in Barclays WSL2 and she will be hoping to do similar with Burnley. Cooper has top flight experience from her time with Chelsea and Reading.
Cooper has signed a two-year contract with Burnley with the option of a further year.

The total vehicle delivery count includes 467,762 Model 3/Y units and 12,364 vehicles categorized as "Other Models." The company noted that these figures are subject to operating lease accounting, which currently accounts for 2% of total deliveries.

Evercore ISI said Twist has been one of the best performers in life science tools, up more than 200% year-to-date, with most of the move, or 85%, coming since its May 21 ***** yst day on optimism around AI-driven order momentum. The firm said it is taking some profits after the rally.
On June 29, Guggenheim raised the firm's price target on Twist Bioscience to $107 from $60 and kept a Buy rating on the shares. Guggenheim adjusted models and forecasts for select companies in its diagnostics and life sciences tools coverage after meetings with management teams.

On June 24, Barclays ***** yst Luke Sergott raised the firm's price target on Twist Bioscience to $95 from $65 and kept an Overweight rating on the shares. Sergott adjusted targets in the life science and diagnostic tools ***** e as part of a Q2 preview, noting that tools are "gaining favor among healthcare subsectors." Barclays expects in-line to modest beats in Q2 for the group.

It has been reported that Sunderland have paid an undisclosed fee to Southampton to secure Stenson's services.
The 25-year-old has spent the last two seasons at St Mary's Stadium. Stenson made 47 appearances for Southampton in all competitions.
The player has bags of experience in Barclays WSL2. In addition to her time with Southampton, Stenson has turned out for Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Sheffield United in the second tier.
On the international stage, Stenson has represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level.
