Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Health Care Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Fund gained 11.99% during the quarter, compared with the 10.48% gain for the Russell 3000 Health Care Index and the 15.44% gain for the Russell 3000 Index. Since inception, the Fund appreciated 10.61% on an annualized basis, compared with 10.02% for the Benchmark and 14.83% for the Index. Strong stock selection in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health care equipment, and life sciences tools and services supported the Fund's outperformance, although limited exposure to managed care stocks reduced relative returns. The Fund remains positive on health care due to improving biotechnology funding, strong acquisition activity, recovering managed care margins, and growth from an aging population, chronic disease, medical innovation, and higher health care spending. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know the best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Baron Health Care Fund highlighted Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD). Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD) manufactures and supplies precision instruments and services in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and internationally. On August 03, 2026, Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD) closed at $1,445.00 per share. The one-month return of Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD) was 10.84%, and its shares gained 15.44% over the past 52 weeks. Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD) has a market capitalization of $28.95 billion..
Baron Health Care Fund stated the following regarding Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We added to our position in Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD), a company we have owned in the Fund since inception. Mettler is a leading global provider of precision instruments and services. The company's products are used in key R&D, quality control, and manufacturing processes for customers in the life sciences, food, and chemicals industries, among others. We believe Mettler has multiple competitive advantages, including its strong brand, product offering and large installed base; large direct sales and service network; global supply chain; sophisticated sales and marketing programs; longstanding local presence in fast growing emerging markets; and culture of operational excellence and execution. The company has a long track record of generating consistent earnings growth. In the quarter, Mettler's organic revenue growth rate and guidance were slightly below expectations. We thought the negative stock reaction was way overblown, leading to a valuation the stock had not seen in many years. We are confident that over the long-term Mettler can generate mid-teens or better annual earnings growth."

On the surface, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) delivered a strong third-quarter earnings report with revenue jumping 16% to $109.4 billion, edging out the consensus at $109 billion.
IPhone sales jumped 22% to $54.3 billion, and Mac was a bright spot as well, up 29%, and Apple reported double-digit revenue growth in all five of its regions.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Gross margin reached 50.1%, which included a benefit of two percentage points from tariff refunds. On the bottom line, the company reported earnings per share of $2.02, which included an $0.11 benefit from tariff refunds, compared to **** yst estimates of $1.89.
However, the stock still finished down 7.4%, cooling off what had been a breakout run in recent weeks, as the company issued disappointing guidance. Apple stock had soared as it got credit for avoiding spending hundreds of billions on AI infrastructure, unlike its big tech peers.

Boston Scientific posted second-quarter net sales of $5.44 billion and adjusted earnings of $0.86 per share on Wednesday, beating its own guidance, but the company trimmed its full-year profit outlook as demand for its Watchman heart implant fell short of expectations.
The company now expects full-year 2026 adjusted earnings per share of $3.28 to $3.32, the company said. That compares to a prior forecast of $3.34 to $3.41 per share. ***** ysts had expected full-year adjusted profit of $3.36 per share, according to Reuters.
Boston Scientific also cut its full-year organic sales growth outlook to a range of 5% to 6%, down from a prior range of 6.5% to 8%, the company said.
The Watchman is a device implanted in the heart to block blood clots that can cause strokes in patients who have atrial fibrillation. The drag on that business stems from changing clinical practice — doctors are more often pairing the Watchman with other heart procedures in one visit, which has eaten into the volume of dedicated Watchman-only cases, according to Reuters. Boston Scientific indicated that Watchman revenue is on track to be roughly unchanged in the second quarter and probably the third as well, even as combined-procedure volumes keep climbing.
The quarterly results themselves topped expectations. Second-quarter adjusted EPS of $0.86 came in above the company's guidance range of $0.82 to $0.84. Revenue of $5.44 billion exceeded the high end of the company's guided range of 5.5% to 7.5% reported growth. ***** ysts had expected quarterly revenue of $5.36 billion and adjusted profit of $0.83 per share.

Thiel loaded PayPal (PYPL) and Palantir (PLTR) founder shares into a self-directed Roth IRA, turning $2,000 into $5 billion completely tax-free.
A self-directed Roth, unlike a standard Schwab (SCHW) account, lets you hold private startups, real estate, and LLC interests tax-free.

US sportswear retailer Nike will bar major wholesale partners in China from selling its products online from January, shifting sales to its own branded storefronts instead.
The change means most of Nike's 16 store partners in China, which together own and operate thousands of Nike outlets, will stop selling online and shift entirely to in-store retail.
"Our marketplace has become so fragmented and cluttered. What consumers want is an experience that's premium, true to the brand, trustworthy, and certainly connected between digital and physical", Cathy Sparks, vice-president and Greater China general manager at Nike told Reuters.
Sales will instead be redirected to Nike-branded storefronts on Tmall, JD.com and Douyin, as well as its own website and app.
According to the company, the move aims to reduce marketplace fragmentation, restore consumer confidence, and back full-price sales.

Interested in Mitie Group plc? Here are five stocks we like better.
Mitie reported strong trading momentum, with first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue rising 10% to £1.4 billion, well ahead of the broader market's roughly 3% growth. Contract wins and renewals also jumped more than 30% to £1.6 billion, while the bidding pipeline hit a record £32.5 billion.
The company is leaning into higher-margin services through "facilities transformation" and "facilities compliance," supported by its Marlowe acquisition. Mitie said the deal is already helping cross-sell fire, security and water services, and it now sees water management as a major growth area.
Mitie's board backed a recommended £3.1 billion cash takeover by OCS, offering shareholders £2.216 per share including the proposed final dividend. The offer represents a significant premium to recent trading prices, and the AGM resolutions were passed on proxy votes.
Mitie Group (LON:MTO) used its 2026 annual general meeting to report continued trading momentum, outline progress from its Marlowe acquisition and confirm details of a recommended cash offer from OCS.

LONDON/HONG KONG, July 10 (Reuters) - Fast-fashion retailer Shein won approval for its long-awaited Hong Kong IPO on Friday, a notice posted on the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) website showed, clearing the way for a listing after failed attempts in New York and London.
Shein, a fast-growing e-commerce giant, would be the highest-profile retailer to list in years, as many consumer brands have delayed initial public offerings due to weak investor sentiment and subdued spending by lower- to middle-income shoppers.
Founded by Chinese-born entrepreneur Sky Xu in 2012, Shein has waited a year for the green light from Beijing for its IPO, which had to be cleared by the highest levels of the ruling Communist Party, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter.
Beijing views Shein as politically sensitive and has been cautious about endorsing a listing after controversies including a ******* doll scandal in France and reports of poor labour practices at its supplier factories in China, the source said.

Metabolic health-focused drug developer Kalohexis is eyeing a debut on the public market after confidentially filing for an initial public offering (IPO) – potentially adding it to a growing list of American biotechs that have opted to go public thus far in 2026.
Though the details around the biotech's public debut remain sparse, the company notes it has submitted a draft registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) related to the IPO. Kalohexis is yet to determine how many shares it will offer and at what price upon its potential public market debut.
Kalohexis' proposed IPO comes four months after the clinical-stage biotech spun out of peptide therapeutic specialist Endevica Bio in March 2026, as it looks to progress its range of therapies for both obesity and cancer cachexia.
At the core of Kalohexis' approach is the melanocortin system, which is involved in balancing energy intake and expenditure, while also regulating appetite and inflammation. By modulating this system through the melanocortin-3 and -4 receptors (MC3R/MC4R), the biotech proposes that it can treat "many metabolic disorders".
Currently, Kalohexis has two lead, clinical-stage pipeline programmes to its name.

The Bank of England is considering introducing an AI "kill switch" to stop trading bots from causing a meltdown in financial markets.
Sarah Breeden, the deputy governor, said officials were running simulations on what would happen if AI traders all tried to execute similar trades at the same time.
She told central bankers at an event in Sintra, Portugal, that the capabilities of AI "could amplify volatility" when financial markets come under stress.
As a result, the Bank has been researching how to combat so-called "herding behaviour" by AI tools, along with Germany's Bundesbank and the Bank for International Settlements.
Ms Breeden told the conference that central banks were exploring "mitigants" such as "circuit breakers or kill switches that would limit or stop trading market-wide if faulty AI models cause market meltdown".

Greg Abel's first quarterly report as Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) CEO came with a number that's hard to look past. The conglomerate ended the first quarter of 2026 with a record $397 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term Treasury bills -- up from around $373 billion at the end of 2025, and equal to more than a third of the company's market value.
A pile that size invites a dramatic reading: that Warren Buffett and Abel are bracing for a crash. But that may read too much into it. The cash is less a market call than the result of a simpler problem. At today's prices, Berkshire continues to struggle to find much worth buying.
Continue »
The balance didn't swell in a single quarter. Berkshire has been a net seller of stocks for more than a dozen quarters in a row, parting with well over $150 billion more in equities than it has bought since late 2022.
In the first quarter of 2026 specifically, Berkshire sold about $8 billion more stock than it purchased. Money that leaves the equity portfolio and isn't put into a new investment generally lands in Treasury bills, where it earns a decent yield while it waits.

WASHINGTON, June 26 (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund's chief economist on Friday said Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's plan to reduce forward rate guidance on monetary policy was "entirely appropriate," although central banks would always need to provide some long-term guidance for markets.
Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, who leaves his post to return to academic life next week, said strong forward guidance had gotten "really bad press" because it committed central banks to some future action, regardless of economic developments.
"That is something that is not tenable, of course," Gourinchas told Reuters in an interview, adding that such rigid guidance had proven to be very costly when U.S. inflation surged in 2021 and 2022 but the Fed did not act quickly because it had earlier promised to keep rates steady.
"So I think moving away from these strong forms of forward guidance is entirely appropriate. Saying there is no forward guidance, I don't think that is actually the case ever. You do it explicitly, or implicitly, the market is going to form a view," he said.

Many students use student loans to cover at least some of their education costs, but new federal loan borrowing limits may affect students' financing options. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) established new limits for undergraduate, graduate, and parent borrowers, and changed what loans are available.
If you reach the maximum allowed in federal loans, private student loans can make it possible to finish your program and earn your degree. Here's what to consider as you weigh your options.
The OBBBA changed aggregate and lifetime borrowing limits*, and established new caps for graduate or professional and parent borrowers.
