Oracle Chief Financial Officer Hilary Maxson told employees on Tuesday that the company's latest round of layoffs should not be understood as a directive to do more with fewer resources, according to Business Insider, which reviewed a recording of the remarks.
"I don't mean doing more with less, which is a phrase that I really, really don't like," Maxson said. "It means simplifying processes that don't help customers and making clear choices on where we're going to use our resources where they have the greatest impact."
The comments came during Maxson's first companywide meeting since joining Oracle, held one day after the company began a new round of job cuts. According to Business Insider, the layoffs went unmentioned by Maxson and the other executives who spoke during the roughly hour-long town hall. Instead, executives focused on growth, customer demand, and artificial intelligence.
Co-CEO Mike Sicilia used the meeting to offer employees a mantra for the quarter. "I'd ask you to keep asking a very simple question: How does the work that I'm doing help deliver a better outcome for a customer?" Sicilia said. "There's a lot of change around this, a lot going on in the world, and in moments like this, how we work together and how we show up for our customers and for each other matters most."
The latest cuts follow a significant reduction in Oracle's workforce over the past year. According to a regulatory filing, Oracle shed approximately 21,000 positions — representing about 13% of its workforce — across the fiscal year that closed on May 31, 2026.

Shailene Woodley was asked about her ex Aaron Rodgers' wild comments regarding their 2021 engagement and subsequent split.
The quarterback recently claimed that the actress wanted "to go f--- this guy" before the couple tied the knot.
Within three months, Rodgers alleged, Woodley stopped wearing her engagement ring.
If silence is golden, then Shailene Woodley's reaction to being asked about Aaron Rodgers is priceless.
The Paradise guest star and recent Emmy winner was on her way into a pre-Emmys fundraiser on Sunday night when a brave reporter shouted out a question regarding her ex-fiancé's shocking claims about their 2021 engagement and subsequent split.

The artificial intelligence infrastructure race is moving from a chip shortage story into a race for something harder to manufacture: data center capacity. Land, electricity, and finished buildings are becoming the bottlenecks as hyperscalers pour hundreds of billions of dollars into AI. That is creating an opening for a new breed of cloud providers that can secure capacity where the largest cloud companies cannot.
At Thursday's Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang made clear that he sees this market expanding for years—and his comments were particularly bullish for CoreWeave (CRWV) and Nebius Group (NBIS).

Deshaun Watson played poor football for all four quarters on Sunday, playing a key part in a 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was out of rhythm with his playmakers, lacked confidence in his throws, and made a handful of reckless decisions. However, if you asked Watson, it's just par for the course in being an NFL quarterback.
While speaking to the media after Sunday's loss, Watson downplayed his struggles, chalking it up to routine bad plays:
"Bad plays are going to happen all the time. Look all around the league, everyone throws interceptions, everyone makes bad plays. You got to give the defense credit."
It's getting to be beyond noticeable: Watson's lack of self-awareness. Instead of owning up to his mistakes- poor reads, bad timing, and irresponsible decision-making- he says that bad plays are going to happen? It leaves you wondering how long he can keep up this blatant disrespect, and how long he will keep the job in the first place.

JERUSALEM, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that a new documentary film which alleges that mass civilian deaths were routinely built into targeting ‌decisions in Gaza was part of a wave of global incitement against Jews.
"NAZA", directed ‌by Israeli journalists Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday and received a 25-minute standing ovation when it was screened on Thursday.
The film takes its **** le from an Israeli military term for expected "collateral casualties" and is built around anonymous interviews with intelligence officers and soldiers involved in the war.
"It's shocking. We are fighting global antisemitic incitement and when it comes from ‌within us it is intolerable," Netanyahu said in a video posted on Telegram. "And now two Israeli directors portraying the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) as war criminals receive applause at the Venice festival."
Netanyahu's comments followed a statement from the Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir, who said the film constituted an attack on the state of Israel.

The Montreal Canadiens still have one major problem if they want to pursue Dylan Larkin: the Detroit Red Wings center has not approved Montreal as a trade destination.
That has not stopped an intriguing Canadiens prospect from entering the conversation.
TVA Sports reporter Nicolas Cloutier recently pointed to Michael Hage, Montreal's 2024 first-round pick, as a player Detroit knows particularly well and would have interest in. Hage plays at the University of Michigan, putting him directly in the Red Wings' scouting backyard. He also has an unusual connection to Detroit's front office through Michigan teammate Will Horcoff, the son of Red Wings executive Shawn Horcoff.
Cloutier said he is convinced Detroit knows Hage well and believes the Red Wings would be interested in him, according to a report relaying his comments on BPM Sports.
That does not mean Hage has been offered for Larkin or that the teams are actively negotiating.

Marshall Faulk not happy with Southern's 77-6 money game beatdown to Houston appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Marshall Faulk was not happy with his team's resounding 77-6 loss to the University of Houston on Saturday. The matchup was one of several money games FCS HBCU programs played over the past couple of weeks, and it was Faulk's first money game. In comments obtained by Kevin Batiste, Faulk expressed his disappointment with the result and what it meant.
"That was awful. That wasn't really a game. That was a kind of a pre-season crash dummy test for Houston to work on all their good plays, and we didn't show up…I felt like, for the most part, the guys that we had in early, our guys that's going to play, I feel like they gave the effort. But let's just be real, okay? They're better than us. All right? They're better than us. They're ranked what, twenty-second? We're FCS. Everybody know what this is. Let it be what it is. We're gonna get better, we're gonna lick our wounds, and get ready to play some football."
He then talked about maintaining his players' health after the Houston game and heading into SWAC play.
"I don't know. I know we have a couple of guys dinged up, but for the most part, I'm gonna say yes. Listen, man, I took my guys out. I wanted to make sure that we were healthy. We got SWAC play coming up in two weeks, and as much as winning this game seemed important as it started, with the start that we had, I just needed to make sure — or ensure — that we got out of this game as healthy as possible."

West Ham United have received a warning despite their emphatic 6-0 win over Wrexham, with former Championship striker Bradley Allen urging caution before winter. The comments, originally broadcast by BBC Radio London and covered by Inside Futbol, followed a performance that gave Nuno Espírito Santo's side a boost in the promotion race.
Six players scored, including captain Jarrod Bowen and Joel Piroe, while West Ham created 19 shots on goal and kept a clean sheet. Allen described the display as outstanding from start to finish and said West Ham possessed too much quality for Wrexham. Yet he stressed that bigger tests await, particularly as the winter schedule stacks fixtures together. His message was: West Ham can leave the Championship quickly, but the examination has not arrived.
Allen said on BBC Radio London: "What a performance, outstanding from start to finish, a clean sheet as well.
"Playing dominant football in front of a big crowd.
"That will put down a marker, but there will be bigger tests; we haven't got to the depths of winter.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber marked eight years of marriage without a red carpet or elaborate anniversary shoot. Their celebration started around a pool table, with Justin sharing photographs of the two playing together on September 13.
"8 years until infinity ❤️ NEW BEGINNINGS ♾️ I love you baby Happy Anniversary," the 32-year-old singer wrote alongside the carousel, according to PEOPLE. Hailey reposted the tribute to her Instagram Stories with the words "8 years."
She also had a more playful response to the photographs. Hailey joked in the comments about spending eight years being "horrendous at playing pool," while the pictures showed her and Justin taking turns at the table and getting close for a near-kiss.
The Biebers kept the celebration going with another set of photographs shared later the same day.
Justin's first anniversary carousel focused almost entirely on the couple's game. Billboard reported that a Texas-Ohio State football game was visible on a television in the background.

A TikTok posted by phlynnmartin recounts a date from back in August 2024 at Melbourne frozen yogurt chain Yo Chi that the creator, who goes by Phlin or Flynn, said ended with an unexpectedly large bill. The video, captioned "honestly couldn't believe it," had drawn 277,600 likes and 11,000 comments as of publication.
Phlin's date started well, with no awkward tension in the car on the way over, and he called it "loving it," saying the chemistry was there. At Yo Chi, he grabbed what he called the normal-size cup, explaining, "That's all you need. Anything else? Outrageous."
The middle cup, he said, would suggest someone was "really hungry," while the largest cup was simply "a gluttonous amount of frozen yogurt." His date grabbed the larger cup, which immediately made him worry about the bill, and he told viewers, "That could be an issue because realistically I'm probably gonna have to pay for this."
He rationed his own toppings carefully, adding items like strawberries and boba "one at a time," describing it as "the little shimmy" scoop, while his date added toppings more freely, scooping crumble, M&Ms, and an Oreo without hesitation. He said the final bill came to approximately $330, a figure he paid after being asked if the two were together.
He described his date as wolfing down her yogurt while he ate slowly and, in his words, began "dissociating" as other diners started to notice.

James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Texas, once described parents who refused to acknowledge their children's gender identity as potentially engaging in "abusive" behavior.
"I think there are some folks that would think that if you deny your child's gender identity, that's incredibly harmful. And whether or not we label it with the term abuse, it's abusive for sure," Talarico said while speaking at a committee hearing in the Texas Legislature in 2019.

"Ukraine is not certain that Russia is willing to stick to any agreement," he wrote.

I'm always here for celebrities who are wanting to get yolked, and if takes an Aperol Spritz or two to do it even better. Florence Pugh's been in Venice to promote Netflix's East Of Eden, but let's be honest, she really seems to be there for the content. Her latest was the weightlifting Aperol Spritz video I didn't know I needed.
Pugh was out in the Italian sun with a pal who was instructing her on her Aperol Spritz hammer curls. She opened up about how she sometimes leans forward to get those right, and you can hear her taking instruction in the background, with the filmer humorously noting,"I think you may need to take a sip of the left one to make sure they're even."
She really looks like she's stretching and straining in the video, which amuses me, although I would ******* ume there's a fair amount of liquid in the glass and if you did enough of those you would, in fact, feel the burn. She clarified in the comments she was supposed to be meeting with her personal trainer during this day of travel, but said, "by the time I got there there was only 30 minutes spare so I sent him this."

Howmet Aerospace Inc. (NYSE:HWM) is facing a mixed outlook after GE Aerospace agreed to acquire Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) for about $11.75 billion to secure more control over critical engine castings and expand production capacity. The announcement initially hit Howmet shares, which fell about 10%, as investors worried that GE could eventually rely less on outside suppliers such as Howmet.
However, Howmet CEO John Plant said he is comfortable with the deal and remains confident in Howmet's ability to grow. The bigger issue for Howmet right now appears to be how quickly it can expand capacity to keep up with soaring demand. Commercial aircraft production, defense activity and aftermarket demand are all increasing, while Howmet is also benefiting from demand for turbine components used in data centers. Plant said the scale of the required capital expansion is itself "testing" the company.
The strongest bullish argument for Howmet Aerospace Inc. (NYSE:HWM) is that GE's decision to spend nearly $12 billion on CPP validates how strategically valuable aerospace castings and engine components have become. The acquisition is aimed at addressing a supply bottleneck rather than signaling weak demand. GE expects airfoil demand to rise by more than 30% through 2030, while aircraft manufacturers and defense customers continue to push production higher. That creates a favorable industry backdrop for Howmet as well.
Howmet also has an opportunity to benefit from customers looking for additional capacity outside GE's newly integrated supply chain. If demand continues to exceed available casting capacity, Howmet's existing manufacturing footprint and expertise could give it significant pricing power and support further investment. Plant's comments that the company is being "tested" by the sheer scale of expansion suggest that Howmet is dealing with a capacity problem caused by strong demand, rather than a lack of orders.
Another positive is that Howmet Aerospace Inc. (NYSE:HWM)'s exposure extends beyond commercial aircraft. Its blades and vanes are also used in gas turbines serving the rapidly expanding data-center market, providing another avenue for growth alongside aerospace. Plant has also indicated that the company intends to revisit its longer-term revenue targets, after previously saying revenue could potentially double from 2025 levels within three to five years.

General Motors is developing a domestic battery supply chain it expects to complete within two to three years, even as the company currently relies on some Chinese-sourced materials for its existing battery production.
Kurt Kelty, GM's vice president of battery and sustainability, told CNBC that the company's near-term goal is full domestic sourcing. "We're developing a supply chain such that, two years from now, three years from now, it will be domestic," Kelty said. "That's what we're aiming for — when we get into market, we've got a domestic source for that."
Kelty's comments center on sodium-ion battery cells that GM is developing with Denver-based startup Peak Energy for use in stationary energy storage systems for homes, businesses, and data centers. GM expects to reach commercial production of those cells around 2029, according to CNBC. A GM spokesperson confirmed to CNBC that the company would apply the same domestic sourcing priority to battery cells for future electric vehicles.
Unlike conventional lithium iron phosphate chemistry, sodium-ion cells are built around sodium from soda ash — a resource the U.S. holds in abundance — sidestepping the lithium and ferrous sulfate supply chains that China currently controls. Kelty added that sodium-ion cells handle a broader span of temperatures, which means they can function without the active thermal management that drives up the cost and complexity of stationary storage installations.
"The better thing to do is try to leapfrog, come up with a different technology that's actually better that we can actually source here," Kelty told CNBC.

Rapper Chingy has been in the spotlight for over two decades, and in a recent interview, the "Right Thurr" performer made a revelation that shocked everyone. Speaking with blogger Jason Lee, Chingy revealed that he's a father of four, including Isaiah Russell-Bailey, a known actor who has appeared alongside Tia Mowry and Raven-Symoné. Shortly after, Chingy reportedly commented on his strained relationship with Bailey and claimed that his mother manipulated the young actor into disliking him. Bailey clapped back after a few days with a post that has since gone viral.
"I've stayed quiet about my relationship with my father because I've never felt the need to share that aspect of my life publicly," he wrote. "But after seeing his comments, I feel compelled to speak for myself."
Bailey added that Chingy's statements about their relationship aren't an "accurate representation." He continued, "Saying something publicly doesn't make it true. You cannot rewrite years of absence, neglect, or lack of involvement with a few paragraphs about love, support, and being there for your child."
Bailey didn't stop there. He said he clearly understood what his relationship with his father looked like growing up. "I know who was present and who wasn't," he wrote. "I know who supported me and who didn't."
Before his post, Bailey, known for his roles in Netflix's "Family Reunion" and Disney's "Raven's Home," praised his mother, Brittany Perry-Russell, an actor and choreographer, for always supporting him.

Chicago White Sox amateur scouting director Mike Shirley resigned on Saturday in the wake of an internal investigation into verbal harassment allegations, according to The Athletic.
Shirley was reportedly placed on administrative leave after the White Sox received an anonymous tip about his conduct at last month's Area Code Games in Long Beach, California. He was alleged to have made racial and ****** ist comments both about coworkers and in front of coworkers.
The White Sox human resources department reportedly launched an investigation into Shirley, interviewing members of his scouting department. It remains unclear what findings the investigation made.
This reportedly wasn't the first time Shirley faced an internal investigation over his behavior. In 2022, he was investigated after a former employee left the club and flagged his behavior toward scouts from underrpresented groups. The tip was made to MLB and later passed on to the White Sox, whose investigation did not find any bias in his hiring practices or behavior.
This latest investigation reportedly included allegations of vulgar language about women and their bodies.

After an epic 11-inning win Friday night against the Phillies, the Braves were hoping to finish them off in the division race. They got a bit of a boost from the Phillies scratching Jesus Luzardo with long-running shoulder soreness.
Tyler Mahle cruised through the first two hitters before Bryce Harper hit a monster homer and took a comical amount of time rounding the bases, clearly hitting back at the controversy from Zach Wheeler's comments about Ronald Acuna's home run celebrations last week. The Phillies had to be feeling good with a 1-0 lead for a couple innings there, until the Braves essentially ended the game with 8 runs in the fourth inning. Ronald Acuna kicked things off with a towering homer (and a normal home run trot).
La Bestia mode activated 🔥#LocalFordDealer | ronaldacunajr24 pic.twitter.com/blKPAhoG0w
The Braves then got a walk, single, single, single, error, wild pitch, walk, double, and single to score another 7 runs. Drake Baldwin provided the double before things got all the way back around to Acuna for the last single, bringing home the last run of the inning.
Mahle continued to cruise after that Harper homer, finishing 7.0 innings of 1-run ball with no walks, even though he only had 7 whiffs and 3 strikeouts. The Braves added another run on in the sixth with a Ronald ABS strikeout-turned-walk, an error on an Olson ground ball, and an Ozzie sac fly. The Phillies got one back with a solo homer from Crawford in the eighth against Brent Suter. The Braves got another 3 runs against the position-player pitcher for Philly in the eighth, as Kiersey singled, Albies doubled, and Harris hit a homer off the right field foul pole. Suter finished off the Phillies in the ninth, as the Braves only needed to throw Mahle and Suter on the night. The Phillies' bullpen is in rough shape on the other side, after the 11-inning game Friday and the blowout bullpen game they suffered today.

HBCU coach has $1 million hot take on money games appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Tennessee State head coach Reggie Barlow stood in solidarity with Edward Waters' president, Dr. A. Zachary Faison, after his comments about money games. Faison's comments came after Edward Waters played Jackson State, and he believes that the team did not get a fair shake in the deal he made years ago.
"Going forward, Edward Waters University will not schedule Division I opposition in football except on terms this institution sets and that materially and substantially advance our program goals," he said in the post. "I want you and our supporters to understand exactly why. The economics do not work. We were paid a $65,000 guarantee, which covered none of our costs. Travel and related expenses ran roughly $30,000 to $35,000, so we cleared about $30,000. That does not begin to justify what such a game asks of a team, a coaching staff, and a program."
Barlow, whose team recently played the University of Georgia in Week 1, expressed solidarity with Faison on Monday's OVC-Big South coaches call. He started by acknowledging that guarantee games between HBCUs (and FCS schools generally) and Power Conference opponents are common practice.

Affordability in a car market usually looks like a math problem. Every so often it turns out to be a permission problem.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating defensive back Doneiko Slaughter to the active roster, the team announced on Saturday. Slaughter had a tremendous training camp and preseason with Pittsburgh and was one of the final cuts before being placed on the practice squad.
The only player to appear on the Steelers' injury report this week has been cornerback Joey Porter Jr, who continues to work his way back after missing all of training camp and preseason play. Porter was placed on the PUP list at the start of camp due to what the team said was a back injury, but the speculation is that it was a hold-in under the guise of an injury.
The Steelers will begin their season at 1:00 EST against the Atlanta Falcons.

Gennaro Gattuso is proud of his Lazio side after their 2-2 draw with Milan, claiming that "seeing the team not give up pleases me," as he comments that the empty Stadio Olimpico makes it "feel like the COVID period" as Biancocelesti fans continue to protest against owner Claudio Lotito.
The Aquile thought that they were on track for the perfect start to the Serie A season, as they were leading 2-0 at half-time through Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin goals.
Speaking to DAZN, via TuttoMercatoWeb, Gennaro Gattuso was left frustrated but not despondent by the collapse. It would've been four wins out of four, but Diego Moreira came off the bench and scored twice in 120 seconds to get Milan back on track.
"In the second half, they came out with their quality," Gattuso said. "Playing the way we want to play for 90 minutes is hard, we dropped deep at the start of the second half and we struggled. That is also understandable because we conceded two goals I would describe as wonder strikes. We were also good not to get hammered, the feeling was that we could have conceded another two."
Lazio have never in their history started with four consecutive Serie A victories, and that record won't happen this season either, as Milan came back for the 2-2 result. Gattuso, though, took encouragement from how his players reacted to letting a two-goal lead slip.

A year after her American Eagle ad campaign landed her in hot water, Sydney Sweeney is once again courting controversy with a new ad. This time, she's promoting the sports prediction market Novig in a commercial viewers call "disgusting" and "inappropriate."
In the minute-long spot — which Novig posted to YouTube and social media channels earlier this week — the Euphoria star poses nude and uses sports equipment to cover portions of her body as she emphasizes that Novig is a betting platform for sports and nothing else.

The Buffalo Bills will open the 2026 NFL season in a place where they have struggled to find success in recent years: on the road against the Houston Texans, who boast one of the league's stingiest defenses.

Sunday will mark the third consecutive season where Buffalo has traveled to Houston, and today's edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by sharing the key matchups to watch and positional ***** ysis as the Bills look to snap that streak and begin the season with a big road win over a fellow playoff participant from last season.
Check out the ***** sments below and then let us know your thoughts on the game in the comments section.
Linked below: Breaking down the key story lines to watch, including dissecting the approach new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard will take to contain the Texans; how Joe Brady can better position Josh Allen and the offense for success against a Texans pass rush that sacked Allen eight times in last year's loss; why starting right tackle Spencer Brown thinks things will go much differently against Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter, two of the game's premier pass rushers, now that both Brown and starting left tackle Dion Dawkins are fully healthy; how Greg Rousseau and Bradley Chubb need to generate more pressure on Texans QB CJ Stroud than the Bills have their last two trips to Houston (one total sack); and more!
