On September 10, LightPath Technologies (NASDAQ:LPTH) reported fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year results that turned a multiyear strategic bet into a financial statement. Revenue nearly doubled for the year, margins expanded, and the company walked away from its last manufacturing ties to China. For a small-cap optics supplier that spent years explaining a strategy, this was the quarter the strategy started explaining itself.
Annual revenue climbed 92.7% to $71.7 million from $37.2 million, and the fourth quarter alone hit a record $21.2 million, up 73.8% year over year. That growth is not just volume. Full-year gross margin expanded to 36% from 27.2%, and the fourth quarter came in even higher at 39.4%, because ****** emblies, modules and cameras now make up 44% of annual sales instead of being sold as raw components.
CEO Sam Rubin said the shift reflects both a change in what LightPath sells and better execution on what it already made, noting every one of its four product groups improved margin for the year. Backlog finished at $110.9 million, up 197% from $37.4 million a year earlier, with $85.6 million of it scheduled for delivery within 12 months. Weeks after the fiscal year closed, the company booked another $24 million in counter-UAS orders, and some of those programs have already moved to monthly delivery cadences of tens of units.
LightPath also completed its exit from China, selling its subsidiary there for $4.5 million paid out over five years, leaving the company with no manufacturing footprint in a country that increasingly can't supply the defense primes it depends on. That matters because defense programs face a deadline this decade to source optics away from covered nations, and qualification cycles run two to three years, meaning the sourcing decisions being made now will determine who wins contracts in 2029 and 2030.
The company's fourth-quarter net loss narrowed to $4.1 million from $7.1 million a year earlier, but full-year operating expenses jumped to $45.5 million from $22 million, and $15.6 million of that was a noncash charge tied to G5 Infrared outperforming the earnout targets set at acquisition. Management called that charge mostly behind the business now that the final G5 payout has been accrued for January 2027, but it is a reminder that acquisition accounting can swing the income statement even when operations are healthy.

The Big Ten has spoken on the matter — and it has released raw video of the replay process.
"Following video review, it was determined Western Michigan's #18 started his jump from an established out-of-bounds position (left foot) and made contact with the ball with one second remaining on the clock," the Big Ten said. "As shown in the provided video of what was viewed during the replay process, a side-by-side view of the play and the game clock, using a direct shot of the game clock in the stadium, was used to determine the final ruling.
"Eighty-five minutes prior to the game, all broadcast cameras used for the replay system, including the camera on the game clock, are synced using a strobe system to ensure all cameras are aligned.
"Per NCAA Football rule 4-2-3-a, 'A ball not in player control, other than a kick that scores a field goal, is out of bounds when it touches the ground, a player, a game official or anything else that is out-of-bound [sic], or that is on or outside a boundary line,' and thus the clock is stopped."

High-performance mixed-signal revenue climbed 26% year over year to $210.7 million, as Cirrus Logic expanded its footprint across camera, battery, and power applications inside smartphones. CEO John Forsyth pointed to a multi-generation collaboration with the company's largest customer on camera controllers, plus continued work on a Smart Power IC for 3D sensing that stayed on schedule through the quarter. EAIGLE, an automation company focused on gate-to-dock logistics, has closed a growth funding round on the heels of 350% year-over-year revenue growth, CEO and founder Amir Hoss said in an interview with FreightWaves. The company's computer vision platform reduces gate dwell times that previously ranged from 7.5 to 18 minutes down to under 30 seconds — and sometimes under one minute — by tapping into camera infrastructure that facilities already own.
The technology matters to carriers, brokers, and shippers because gate congestion and yard opacity have long been among the most stubborn inefficiencies in distribution operations. EAIGLE's system automates the full check-in and check-out process, validates bills of lading, purchase orders, appointments, and USDOT numbers in real time, and feeds clean data directly into yard management, warehouse management, and transportation management systems via APIs.
At one active facility where Hoss spoke — a site processing roughly 1,100 trucks per day across two gates and four lanes — EAIGLE replaced 18 full-time staff across three shifts with a fully unmanned, paperless operation. "We didn't validate here, we just log," Hoss recalled a security guard telling him five or six years ago, a dynamic he said rendered downstream YMS data unreliable. "It becomes garbage in and garbage out," he said.
"The bar is really high because you own that responsibility of initiating the high accuracy and complete data capture and validation for the rest of the systems in the supply chain ecosystem of each one of the operational customers."

San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie is returning to the city's Far West Side this weekend for a free meet-and-greet with fans.
Physicians Premier said in a Facebook post that Champagnie will appear at its Potranco location from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5.
The event will be held at Physicians Premier ER–Potranco, 12314 Potranco Road, Suite 102, near the intersection of Potranco Road and Grosenbacher Road.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet Champagnie, take photos with him and get an autograph during his hourlong appearance, according to Physicians Premier. The emergency room operator encouraged attendees to bring their families, Spurs gear and cameras.

General manager John Lynch said in a Tuesday morning interview with KNBR that defensive end Nick Bosa worked out on a side field Monday and was expected to do the same Tuesday. But the star defensive end wasn't present for either day's portion of open practice.
The lack of transparency from the 49ers surrounding Bosa's recovery is creating a bizarre situation. Perhaps he simply doesn't want to work out on the side field in front of a slew of cameras?
Bosa hasn't practiced in nearly a month. He was dealing with tendinitis in August amid his continued recovery from a torn right ACL suffered last September. According to coach Kyle Shanahan, the tendinitis isn't a concern at this point. Rather, he said the team is "just being smart" by monitoring Bosa's practice intensity on a daily basis.
Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris declined to offer specifics on the management plan for the 28-year-old superstar: "Bosa's got a plan in place. I don't want to reveal it if Kyle hasn't done it, but I'll let him do that stuff, break the news to you," Morris said. "But obviously they've got a real, legit plan … all-hands-on-deck type mentality to get him ready to go, so whatever it takes for him to get out there. I'm just going to feel good when he gets a chance to get out there and to be able to call those plays for him."
