As the Denver Broncos wrapped up their first week of on-field work, there is a lot to be excited about. There are also some kinks that need to be ironed out before the regular season begins in September.
We take a look at five takeaways from Day 2 of training camp on Saturday.
1) Marvin Mims may be a legitimate offensive threat in 2026: In two days of camp, Mims has had several big catches for touchdowns from both Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix. Previously, coach Sean Payton had trouble utilizing Mims in a consistent, meaningful way on offense. Mims' role in offensive coordinator Davis Webb's game plan seems to point toward more usage for the third-year wide receiver and special teams ace. In a contract season for Mims, this is a great opportunity to see his stock rise.
2) Bo Nix continues to hit the deep throws: Nix has hit several deep passes through two days of training camp, and one of the latest featured an off-balance, under duress throw to a streaking Pat Bryant for what would have been a touchdown. The downfield attack has been seen several times now, and has beaten the vaunted Bronco secondary a few times already.

Ohio State is known for its long list of standout wide receivers, and this year's roster will have no shortage of talent. But there's a name that may not be at the top of the list of potential x-factors that could raise the Buckeyes' ceiling even more. According to ESPN, Ohio State freshman wide receiver Chris Henry is labeled as the key x-factor for the Buckeyes' success in 2026.
"Can Henry make an impact as a true freshman, alongside All-American Jeremiah Smith and veteran Brandon Inniss? At 6-foot-5, Henry has the tools to become a dangerous downfield and red zone weapon for quarterback Julian Sayin," ESPN's Jake Trotter wrote. "Defenses will be loading up to slow Smith, which figures to give Henry plenty of favorable opportunities to show he can be Ohio State's next great wide receiver."
Henry was a consensus five-star prospect in the 2026 class and enters his true freshman season as a pivotal part of the offense for Ohio State. While Smith and Innis will be one of the top 1-2 combos at wideout across the entire country, adding the skill and size that Henry brings to the field would be another addition to an already explosive offense.
Ohio State has always had two stars on the outside, but what has made its offense so dependable and effective year after year is the ability to have 3-4 wideouts consistently on the field and producing. Whether it was Smith, Emeka Egbuka, Innis and Carnell Tate or the years of Marvin Harrison Jr, Julian Fleming, Egbuka or the dating back to the early 2020's of Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba -- the talent level at wideout has made it nearly impossible for opposing defenses to slow down Ohio State's offense.
With the 2026 season right around the corner, though there's still a competition and other veterans in the room, Henry appears to be the guy that Ohio State is looking at to step up and be impactful from day one.

Would it be a bad sign for the Dallas Cowboys if things were already breaking down on Day 1 of training camp?
Actually, that didn't happen with Dallas' sideline headphones at the Wednesday, July 29, practice, but coach Brian Schottenheimer and defensive coordinator Christian Parker let linebacker DeMarvino Overshown think that's what was happening.
Call it a test, and the Texas alum passed. Safety PJ Locke also did well on tests of a more serious nature, as his knee injury doesn't seem to be that bad. And Texas alum Jaydon Blue is off to a quick start in the battle for RB2.
Here is what Dallas is up to.
Dallas' first choice to wear the "green dot," typically a middle linebacker equipped with a headset so he can hear the coaches, is Texas alum Overshown and Schottenheimer said he passed his first test.

The Atlanta Falcons have their work cut out for them as they attempt to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. The team has made some major changes, bringing in Matt Ryan to be the president of football and hiring head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Training camp is just around the corner, but there's still time for the Falcons to make a move or two before players report to the team's training facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
In today's Falcons Wire Recap, Bleacher Report identifies a potential trade target in the AFC, ESPN predicts the winner of two key position battles, and NFL.com roasts the NFC South.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton suggested one trade for all 32 NFL teams ahead in 2026. For the Falcons, B/R listed Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. as an ideal trade target.
"Denver acquired Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins. Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin have a strong rapport with quarterback Bo Nix," wrote Moton. "The coaching staff could look to further develop second-year wideout Pat Bryant. Mims knows this year could be his last in Denver. Atlanta can speed up the process and acquire him to address a glaring roster need."

The Washington Commanders are a team of mystery in 2026. Washington has new offensive and defensive coordinators in 2026. David Blough and Daronte Jones are both first-time NFL coordinators, and Blough is entering only his third season as a coach after last playing in the NFL in 2023.
When you have first-time coordinators, there's a bit of a mystery about what type of schemes they'll run. Jones has worked under several notable defensive minds, such as Mike Zimmer, Lou Anarumo, Marvin Lewis and, most recently, Brian Flores.
As for Blough, he spent time under Ben Johnson, Kevin O'Connell and former Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. While Blough's scheme is expected to feature some of what Kingsbury did, everyone expects a Johnson-influenced offense with more play action, pre-snap motion, and quarterback Jayden Daniels under center more frequently.
One reason head coach Dan Quinn moved on from Kingsbury was that he and GM Adam Peters wanted a different offensive approach. Less of the fast-break, no-huddle approach from Kingsbury, and more of a traditional offense to take advantage of Daniels' dual-threat ability.
There's more mystery about Washington's offensive playmakers around Daniels. Did Peters do enough to improve the offense around Daniels? That's been a featured question throughout the offseason. Peters made significant investments in the defense, which should help Daniels more than anything. Offensively, the Commanders added some interesting names in free agency, including tight end Chig Okonkwo, running back Rachaad White, and receivers Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson, as well as Antonio Williams via the NFL draft.

The NFC West has some of the best wide receivers across any division in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks have the reigning Offensive Player of the Year in Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Heading into the 2026 NFL season, we've ranked all four wide receiving corps in the division from best to worst.
We're making the difficult decision of ranking the Los Angeles Rams as having the best receiving corps in the NFC West. Puka Nacua finished second in receiving yards (1,715) behind Smith-Njigba. Opposite Nacua, Davante Adams led all wideouts in receiving touchdowns with 14. That's pretty incredible.
Smith-Njigba will be the focal point of Brian Fleury's 2026 offense for the Seahawks. Aging veteran Cooper Kupp is still impactful, and Rashid Shaheed is expected to be heavily involved after signing a new contract with the Seahawks earlier this offseason. A healthy Tory Horton could also play a role.
The San Francisco 49ers revamped their receiving corps by signing Mike Evans and Christian Kirk in free agency. They also drafted De'Zhaun Stribling at No. 33 overall. They've revamped the room nicely after the fallout with Brandon Aiyuk.
Marvin Harrison Jr. was limited by injury in 2025 and hasn't yet met the borderline unfair expectations he was tagged with coming out of Ohio State. Michael Wilson became a 1,000-yard receiver this past season. The Cardinals also added savvy veteran Kendrick Bourne via free agency.

This is the UFC 329 live blog for Robert Whittaker vs. Nikita Krylov, the preliminary card light heavyweight bout Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Whittaker is currently ranked No. 12 at 185 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, but makes his 205-pound debut against No. 14-ranked light heavyweight Krylov.
It’s been a rough stretch for Whittaker (26-9), a former UFC middleweight champion. Whittaker has lost his past two fights, pushing him out of the contender circle, and looks for a fresh start at weight class two divisions higher than 170 pounds, which Whittaker made his UFC debut at almost 14 years ago. “The Reaper’s” most recent wins have come against Ikram Aliskerov, Paulo Costa, and Marvin Vettori.
Krylov (31-11) has proven to be a stalwart at light heavyweight, with a 9-7 UFC record in the division and a number usually next to his name. This past January, he snapped a two-fight skid with a third-round knockout of Modestas Bukauskas at UFC 324.

With only $2 million of Jonas Valanciunas' $10 million salary for next season guaranteed, the writing has been on the wall for a while, considering how the Nuggets are looking to save money as they look to extend Peyton Watson.
The Nuggets have officially waived Valanciunas, a story first reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Valanciunas was Nikola Jokic's backup in Denver last season, averaging 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 58.2%. Denver has signed Marvin Bagley III to fill that backup role this season.
Don't be surprised if the 14-year NBA big man signs to play in Europe next season. There were rumors last season he wanted to negotiate a buyout with Denver to sign with Greek side Panathinaikos, but Denver was not about to let him go, they needed him. There is interest from Lithuanian side Zalgiris Kaunas, reports Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.com.

Remember how hyped the 2024 WR Draft class was? Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze were touted as can't miss prospects. Brian Thomas Jr., Xavier Worthy, Xaiver Legette and Ricky Pearsall all went in the first round as well. Entering year three for this class it's safe to say the class has not met their expectations. The Broncos showed how much they think of cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian by using a second-round tender on him as a restricted free agent. He will make $5.767 million on his one-year deal this season.
His long-term future with the Broncos appeared in question, with Marvin Mims Jr., Riley Moss, Ben Powers, Evan Engram and Brandon Jones among other high-profile players entering the final year of their contracts.
The Broncos had not started contract talks with McMillan's camp as of June, per Zac Stevens of DNVR, but coach Sean Payton left no doubt about the team's intent to keep McMillan long-term.
“Absolutely,” Payton said, via Stevens. “The ball finds him. We keep talking about taking it away. We even forget Buffalo on the road, Monday night [in] ’23. The first series of the game, ball’s out, and he’s causing a fumble. He’s just around it all. That’s not just good fortune. That’s the skill set.”
Since 2023, when he earned a bigger role, McMillan has six interceptions, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Two of his interceptions were pick-sixes. He also has seven sacks, 16 tackles for a loss and nine quarterback hits.

Broncos Wire's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie wide receiver Kolbe Katsis, No. 81.
Before the Broncos: Katsis (6-1, 185 pounds) began his collegiate football career at Pittsburg State, where he played from 2021-23 and found a niche as a dual-threat wide receiver and kick returner. In 2022, Katsis was named MIAA Freshman of the Year and earned honorable mention All-MIAA accolades as a returner. In 2023, Katsis was named All-MIAA third-team as a wide receiver and returner. In 25 games with the Gorillas, Katsis racked up 1,160 career receiving yards on 70 catches and nine touchdowns. As a returner, Katsis had a pair of kick return touchdowns, and totaled 880 return yards on 30 returns.
In 2024, Katsis followed then-Pittsburg State head coach Brian Wright to Northern Arizona. Katsis spent 2024 and 2025 in the FCS' Big Sky Conference, starting 22 of 23 games. In 2024, Katsis was used as a wide receiver, catching 35 passes for 498 yards and two touchdowns. In 2025, Katsis had his best season, exploding both as a wide receiver and as a kick returner. Katsis caught a career-high 60 passes for 1,068 yards and 10 touchdowns, rushed four times for 64 yards and one touchdown, and returned 17 kicks for 521 yards and one touchdown. He earned FCS Football Central second-team All-American and Stats Perform FCS third-team All-American All-Purpose Player honors, Phil Steele fourth-team All-American, AP Honorable Mention All-American Wide Receiver, and All-Big Sky first-team accolades as a wide receiver and kick returner.
Broncos tenure: Katsis' impressive statistics were not enough to see his name called in the 2026 NFL draft. Katsis did catch the attention of the Denver Broncos staff, who seem to like him as a return candidate. Katsis signed with the Broncos as one of 13 initial undrafted free agents immediately following the NFL draft. He'll make his debut during preseason this summer.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot with a chance at returner. The Broncos' 2026 wide receiver room is deeper than it has been in a number of years; however, there may be a possibility that Katsis could be a competitor for the return specialist spot. Denver special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi apparently "really likes" Katsis as a returner. If wide receiver Marvin Mims takes on a bigger role in the offensive game plan under new playcaller Davis Webb, Katsis could be a dark horse candidate for the returner job.

Wasteful Colombia saw off toothless Ghana 1-0 on Friday to become the final team to qualify for the World Cup last 16.
The South Americans dominated the game at Arrowhead Stadium but ended up with just Jhon Arias's early goal to show for their superiority as they now look forward to a meeting with Switzerland in Vancouver on Tuesday.
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey fizzed a shot just wide in the opening minute but that proved a false dawn for the African nation.
Colombia were forced into an early change when Jhon Cordoba pulled up with an apparent groin injury and was replaced by Luis Suarez.
Minutes later Ghana were forced into a change of their own when Alidu Seidu came on for the stricken Marvin Senaya.

Jett Harrison is following in his brother's footsteps.
The younger brother of former Ohio State star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. announced his commitment to the Buckeyes on social media on July 1.
Harrison is considered one of the top high school players in the nation as a five-star recruit. He's ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2028 class, according to composite rankings from 247Sports.
He chose the Buckeyes over offers from Miami and Oregon, among other top programs.
Harrison broke out as a freshman at St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia in 2024 when he was named a freshman All-American by MaxPreps. The Buckeyes offered him a scholarship last year.

The Denver Broncos boast one of the league's most complete rosters heading into the 2026 season, but talk of contract extensions for key players is one of the top storylines of this offseason so far. Recently. I ranked how the team should be prioritizing these potential extensions.
One of the names most often connected to uncertainty on the team's roster is wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr., who is preparing to enter his fourth year in the league. The Broncos could be inclined to trade one of their young wide receivers after acquiring Jaylen Waddle this offseason and there are many who feel that Mins, an unrestricted free agent following the season, should be that guy.
However, that seems like an incredibly short-sighted move for the team, as Mims has gone to two Pro Bowls due to his abilities as a return man. If nothing else, the Broncos should not give that away easily. Mims can be a bigger part of the offense, but attempts to use him on trick plays as a gadget player haven't produced much in the past. He has, however, been the team's most prolific deep threat in the passing game.
But in speaking to the media recently, Mims was honest about potentially playing in his final year with the team, while being asked about a possible contract extension.

Hailing from Brockton, AJ Dybantsa was selected number one overall by the Washington Wizards in Tuesday's NBA Draft. He's the first athlete born and raised in Massachusetts to be selected number one overall in any of the four major U.S. sports drafts (NBA, NHL, NFL, and MLB).
Dybantsa, 6'9, 217 pounds, averaged 25.5 points per game this past season with the BYU Cougars. In January, Dybantsa passed Celtics legend Danny Ainge for the most points posted by a BYU freshman in a game, recording 43 points in a 91–78 victory over Utah.
Dybantsa played high school basketball at St. Sebastian's School in Needham. He was offered scholarships from all the top universities, including Boston College, but Dybantsa said he chose BYU to play ball and keep a low profile off the court.
The son of a Jamaican immigrant mother and a father from the Republic of Congo, Dybantsa is the latest athlete produced by the "City of Champions." 80 years ago, heavyweight champion Rocky "the Brockton Blockbuster" Marciano trained at the old fire station on Pleasant Street - a building that had its electrical wiring installed by Thomas Edison. Fellow champion "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler also sculpted his legendary boxing career in Brockton. Both have statutes in the city.
Brockton also produced Ken MacAfee, a 3x All-American tight end who caught passes from Joe Montana at Notre Dame. He was third in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1977 and won the National ****** le that same year. He played two seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers.

Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims was part of Sean Payton's first draft class in Denver, but he doesn't know if this will be his final year playing for the head coach.
Mims is heading into the final year of his rookie deal and said an extension would "be sweet," but acknowledged, via Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports, that he knows "you can't keep everybody" given the business realities of the NFL. He also said that he thinks he's made the case for landing such a deal even if he's sometimes felt challenged by the number of chances he has to shine.
"I think I've proved it time and time again. just in different stretches, different opportunities," Mims said. "I feel as if the coaching staff knows what they're going to get from me. I love making plays. I love being out there doing the things that I can do. It's just whatever the team needs from me. Sometimes, I'm not in the most fortunate situations. Sometimes I am a little irritated with my situation, but, at the end of the day, I'm blessed to be where I am today, standing right here where I am. . . . With this possibly being my last year, I'm just going to enjoy it to the fullest, going through it carefree and just play my hardest because we have a real chance to do something extremely special."
The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle this offseason and Courtland Sutton is also signed to a long-term deal, so another big investment at receiver may not be in the cards in Denver. As long as Mims remains on the field in the fall, he could make the ultimate decision a more difficult one.

Duke tends to rank among the universities with the most NBA draft picks, as a recent wave of Duke prospects, including both Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel, have turned heads since entering the NBA. However, over the years, there have been many Duke alumni considered busts after their NBA careers didn't quite go as planned.
A recent list made by Bleacher Report ranked the top 99 draft busts of all time between the four major sports (NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL), and there were three former Duke basketball players on the list.
Jabari Parker was ranked 57th on Bleacher Report's list after being selected No. 2 overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014. After one tremendous campaign with the Blue Devils, averaging 19.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.2 **** ists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks, hopes were high for Parker entering the draft. Unfortunately for Parker, injuries got the better of him throughout his NBA career, tearing his left ACL twice in nearly three years. While Parker did average over 20 points per game in one of his eight NBA seasons, his numbers took a huge hit following the 2019-20 season, ending his NBA career much sooner than originally anticipated. The 31-year-old is still active today, playing for Partizan Belgrade of the EuroLeague.
In the draft class following Parker's, Duke produced another top-three pick in Jahlil Okafor, who went No. 3 overall to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015. After a dominant rookie campaign, averaging 17.5 points per game, seven rebounds, 1.2 **** ists and 1.2 blocks, Okafor would never be the same player again. This was due in large part due to how quickly the NBA changed, setting aside long post-up possessions in the paint and adopting a heavy dose of transition 3-pointers early in the shot clock. After three seasons away from the NBA from 2021 to 2024, Okafor came back to appear in one game for the Indiana Pacers but played just three minutes. Okafor was recently at Coach K's "K-Camp" this summer and most recently played professionally in **** an for Levanga Hokkaido.
Although Parker and Okafor were great for Duke, one could certainly argue that Marvin Bagley III was even better. In his lone season with Duke, Bagley III averaged 21 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.5 **** ists, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals while shooting over 61% from the field. This led to him being named the No. 2 overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft, ahead of future stars like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Starting out with the Kings, Bagley has yet to surpass the points, rebounds and **** ists numbers he put up as a rookie. While Bagley III didn't live up to the original hype, he hasn't had a bad career by any means, still playing in the NBA and averaging 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 **** ists over eight seasons.

Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at sixth-year wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, No. 17.
Before the Broncos: Waddle (5-10, 185) began his career as a member of the Miami Dolphins, selected three spots ahead of All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. Waddle became a focal point of the high-powered Dolphins offense under head coach Mike McDaniel, a speedy option alongside Tyreek Hill in a loaded wide receiver room. In 78 games over five seasons with Miami, Waddle caught 373 passes for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns. Ahead of the 2026 season, Waddle was acquired in a blockbuster trade by the Denver Broncos.
Broncos tenure: Although he hasn't yet played a snap in a Broncos uniform, Waddle has wasted no time in integrating himself with the team. Waddle has been seen wearing Broncos gear on several different occasions and going out with team officials, including quarterback Bo Nix. Teammates and coaches have also embraced his arrival, performing Waddle's signature touchdown waddle celebration.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: As good as the chances of a hurricane in Florida. Waddle will bring a different dimension to the Broncos' offense, which it has lacked in the past. Waddle's addition will open up lanes for Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Pat Bryant and others, and allow him to be an electric playmaker himself. Fans may see Waddle become a reliable WR2 for Nix. Waddle will be a player to watch in the upcoming season, no matter where he lines up on the field.

The Arizona Cardinals have not won a Super Bowl yet. They are one of 12 franchises who have not hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.
And unsurprisingly, of the 12 teams who have not yet won one, they are the least likely to do it this season, writes NFL.com's Eric Edholm.
At the bottom are the Cardinals. There’s no clear-cut long-term option at quarterback right now -- unless you consider third-round pick Carson Beck to be that -- and possible starter Jacoby Brissett remains at odds with the team over his contract. Throw in what was an underachieving defense last season, a conundrum in Marvin Harrison Jr. and a surprisingly old roster, along with playing in the gauntlet that is the NFC West, and you can begin to imagine the chore that new head coach Mike LaFleur faces in the desert.
It’s not a completely lost cause, however. If all that talent on defense comes together, Arizona could have a fairly competent unit, especially with a fierce group up front (depending on whether or not it trades Josh Sweat). The secondary also looks like it could be pretty good. Rookie RB Jeremiyah Love should give the offense a boost, Trey McBride is a certifiable stud, and it’s far too soon to give up on Harrison, who's still just 23 years old.
But with QB questions, offensive line concerns and an absolutely brutal schedule, this does not have the look of a team that’s a few pieces away from a ***** le run. Identifying the right quarterback this season or next offseason is a crucial goal for an organization that hasn’t been a serious contender for more than a decade.
