Over the course of the summer transfer window, Real Madrid have managed to raise almost €200m through player sales. Despite this, more stars are on the verge of being sold, with the vast majority being La Fabrica talents.
Earlier this week, Real Madrid sold Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios to Fulham for a combined €50m. Thiago Pitarch could be about to join them, while Jorge Cestero has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Lille. And now, the latest player added to the list of possible departees is Jacobo Ortega, who has been a revelation with Castilla over the last 12 months.
Ortega, who scored six times for Castilla during the 2025-26 season, is considered to be another top talent in La Fabrica. However, his pathway to the first team was blocked after Real Madrid moved to sign Carlos Espi, and now, it is taken for granted that he will depart on a permanent basis before the transfer window closes.
Right now, a move to France appears to be most likely. As per ESPN's Rodra, Real Madrid are in talks with Strasbourg over a deal for Ortega that could end up netting the club another €8m.
Any deal would include a 50% sell-on clause, which Real Madrid always insist on when selling La Fabrica players. However, this conditions means that Strasbourg are not prepared to pay €8m, and thus, they will attempt to reduce the cost during upcoming club-to-club negotiations.

Leandro Pineda, Maxwell Romero Jr. and Sam Petersen each hit their first Triple-A home run, while Jackson Kent allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings as the Rochester Red Wings rolled to an 8-1 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Wednesday night at PNC Field.
Kent allowed three hits and struck out five to improve to 8-3 on the season.
The Red Wings took the lead in the third inning. Seaver King singled and Phillip Glasser walked, setting up Trey Lipscomb, who hit a run-scoring single. Riley Adams followed with an RBI single to left, scoring Glasser and extending Rochester's lead to 2-0.
Rochester broke the game open in the fifth. After Petersen walked, Pineda hit a two-run homer to right-center, pushing the lead to 4-0. The blast was Pineda's first Triple-A home run, and Romero followed one batter later with his first Triple-A homer as Rochester stretched the lead to 5-0. Pineda finished with two hits and two RBIs as part of a balanced Red Wings attack that saw five different players drive in runs.
The RailRiders briefly answered when Yanquiel Fernández hit a solo homer in the sixth, but Kent limited the damage to that one run before handing the ball to the bullpen. Jake Bird, Cole Henry and Kyle Nicolas combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit to secure the win.

We've reached Day 38 in our countdown to the New Orleans Saints' season opener, making this 38-yard Drew Brees touchdown pass our pick for the Saints Play of the Day. It was a big throw in a big moment inside the two-minute warning; Brees and the New Orleans offense were facing 3rd-and-13 against a Raiders team coached by none other than Dennis Allen, a former Sean Payton ***** istant who knew them very well. But Brees delivered.
Brees evaded pressure off his left side and stepped up as the pocket collapsed behind him. With Raiders defenders closing in on him fast, he lobbed a pass into the end zone where only Lance Moore could get it. The crafty wide receiver had put a step on his defender and Brees hit him in stride for the score, Moore going to the ground to protect the ball from an opponent leaping after him.
Plays like that one are why Brees is going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend. His ability to read the entire field and work quickly under pressure combined with a rare knack for placing the ball exactly where he wanted it made for one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Highlights like this one are worth remembering on the occasion of his Hall of Fame induction.

Texas A&M's first preseason practice ahead of the 2026 season opener vs. Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 5, took place on Wednesday evening, and similar to this time last year, quarterback Marcel Reed, entering his second full starting season, continued to receive substantial attention given the redshirt junior's need to take the proverbial "next step" as a pocket passer.
With 65% of the 2025 roster returning after the Aggies' first trip to the College Football Playoff last season, third-year coach added 17 players from the transfer portal, combined with all but one player from the 2026 signing class making their way to campus back in January. Several newcomers continued to look the part on Wednesday, while A&M's elite wide receiver rotation unsurprisingly flashed, especially junior Terry Bussey.
After landing Alabama transfer WR Isaiah Horton, who stands 6'4"and now weighs 215 pounds, the Aggies' receiver rotation, led by Mario Craver, is now built on speed, size, and physicality after nearly every wideout added weight this offseason, with Terry Bussey now weighing 205 pounds.
Texas A&M's starting running back job is still up for grabs, and redshirt junior Rueben Owens, who also gained weight this summer, will directly compete with rising sophomore Jamarion Morrow, who impressed the staff this spring and looks like the best one-cut running back on the roster.
Thanks to several beat writers in attendance, including Tony Catalina, Carter Karels, and Travis Brown, here are the top highlights from Texas A&M's first preseason practice.

The Indianapolis Colts don't have the NFL's most formidable wide receiver corps.
The Colts traded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason and signed Alec Pierce to a lucrative contract extension. The rest of the expected regulars include Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, Anthony Gould, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Laquon Treadwell, and draft pick Deion Burks.
Downs (58) and Pierce (47) combined for 105 catches in the 2025 season, and the rest 18 (including Westbrook-Ikhine's 11 for Miami).
Should the Colts trade for a speedy receiver? ESPN's Seth Walder believes the Buffalo Bills' Keon Coleman would fit in Indianapolis and ease an awkward situation in Buffalo. It's one of his five preseason trade proposals.
Coleman, the first pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, has 67 receptions and eight touchdowns in two seasons. In January, Bills owner Terry Pegula criticized the previous coaching staff for pushing the front office to pick Coleman, who remains on the Buffalo roster.

Baseball is a funny sport sometimes. There aren't very many sports or opportunities in life where you can get embarrassed and then come back less than 24 hours later to face the exact same team and completely flip the script and result of the two contests. Thankfully, baseball isn't most sports and that's exactly what the D-Backs were able to accomplish on Wednesday night, taking a shutout performance all the way into the top of the ninth while absolutely teeing off on San Diego pitching throughout the night. The victory not only gave the D-Backs some extra padding in their Wild Card lead, but also put them that much closer to securing the season series against the Friar's – an important tiebreak consideration as we enter the last quarter of the season and sprint towards the playoffs.
The starting rotation has been a weakness for the team throughout the season – led by disappointing results from Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen. That disappointment and weakness has opened the opportunity for a pair of rookies to make their case for a rotation spot in Mitch Bratt and Kohl Drake, two of the three players the Rangers exchanged in the Merrill Kelly trade last season. The two rookies have had an uneven introduction to the big leagues in their first eight combined starts, but Bratt's sixth career start was a huge step forward, giving the youngster his first big league win. I don't want to overstate the performance. It's always impressive when a rookie is able to complete seven innings of scoreless baseball, regardless of the relative weakness of the opposing offense. But it's also not as if Bratt had pinpoint command of all of his pitches, throwing slightly more than half of his 92 pitches on the night for a strike.I think it's more accurate to describe the outing as effectively wild rather than wildly effective. Regardless, limiting the Padres to just three walks is an important developmental milestone for the young lefty whose walk rate has skyrocketed since making his debut and will be a closely watched development moving forward.
Of course, with the way the Arizona offense was cooking tonight, an effective position player could have likely earned a win on the mound. It was exactly the kind of balanced offensive attack that Torey Lovullo often preaches with valuable contributions coming from nearly every player in the lineup as seven out of nine of the starters got at least one hit or more. Even better, it didn't overly rely on a single method for scoring, but featured sacrifice flies, home runs, and timely hits with runners in scoring position. They got the party started in the third with a sacrifice fly from Gabriel Moreno scoring Corbin Carroll who had walked, stolen second, and moved to third already. Tim Tawa added another run on a two-out blast off a lifeless splitter, but it wasn't until the fourth that the party really started. After James McCann led off the inning with a harmless flyout, his teammates started a hit parade with five straight k

Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Health Care Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Fund gained 11.99% during the quarter, compared with the 10.48% gain for the Russell 3000 Health Care Index and the 15.44% gain for the Russell 3000 Index. Strong stock selection in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health care equipment, and life sciences tools and services supported the Fund's outperformance, although limited exposure to managed care stocks reduced relative returns. The Fund remains positive on health care due to improving biotechnology funding, strong acquisition activity, recovering managed care margins, and growth from an aging population, chronic disease, medical innovation, and higher health care spending. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know the best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Baron Health Care Fund highlighted Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (NYSE:EW). The San Diego Padres scored early and often in a convincing 9-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks to even the four-game series at a game apiece. It was their ninth win in the last 11 games, moving the Padres one game back of the Diamondbacks in the National League Wild-Card standings.
This sets up a crucial third game in the four-game set. The victor could gain much-needed momentum in securing the final playoff spot.
One of the catalysts in the Padres' ability to roar back into the Wild-Card chase has been their offense. Last night, the lineup erupted for 16 hits and nine runs in the road victory. Manny Machado was the hitting star with three hits and four RBIs. Jackson Merrill continued his hot streak with a three-hit night and two RBIs. Jake Cronenworth also contributed with three hits and an RBI.
View Link
Since the All-Star break, the team's hitting numbers have been outstanding. The Friars have a team batting average of .291 with 139 hits and 20 home runs. The hope is the suddenly hot offense combined with improved starting pitching will help the club to gain more ground in the heated NL Wild-Card race.

BlackRock has launched tokenized share classes for a range of European money market funds holding a combined $311 billion, its first on-chain fund access in Europe.
The 12 new share classes sit across six funds in the BlackRock Institutional Cash Series, covering euro, sterling and U.S. dollar strategies in both distributing and accumulating form. Tokens are minted on Ethereum using Kinexys, J.P. Morgan's blockchain unit, which handles minting and burning and acts as the layer between on-chain activity and the traditional share register.
Each token represents a share in the underlying fund, and the official shareholder register continues to be maintained by the fund's transfer agent. Smart contracts move holdings between approved investor wallets, which BlackRock said delivers round-the-clock peer-to-peer transferability and near real-time visibility.
"Today's launches represent an important evolution in how investors access and manage cash, while helping modernise capital markets infrastructure," Beccy Milchem, Global Head of Cash Distribution and Head of the International Cash Management business at BlackRock, said in a press release shared with Decrypt.
Kara Kennedy, global head of market development at Kinexys, noted that, "Tokenization has moved from concept to execution," while BlackRock pointed to corporate treasury management, digital collateral and bank and wealth distribution channels as the use cases it expects the structure to open up.

BP more than doubled its profit for the second quarter from a year earlier on the back of higher oil and gas prices and stronger refining margins driven by the shock supply disruption in the Middle East.
BP on Tuesday reported an underlying replacement cost (RC) profit, the closest metric to net profit closely watched by ******* ysts, of $5.7 billion for the second quarter, up from $3.2 billion for the previous quarter, and more than doubled from the $2.35 billion for the same period of 2025.
The Q2 earnings beat the average ******* yst consensus of $5 billion.
The jump in oil and gas prices, combined with significantly higher refining margins and stronger oil and gas trading profits from a year earlier, boosted BP's underlying earnings above ******* yst expectations.
The surge in the underlying result mainly reflected higher liquids and gas realizations, including the impact of price lags, stronger realized refining margins, and stronger customer results, partly offset by higher exploration write-offs, BP said.

LOWER SUSSEX, Del. — The Lakeland Senior All-Star team fell 10-0, in six innings to Bulacan Little League of the Asia-Pacific Region in the second game of Senior League World Series pool play action.
The game started off quiet for both teams. Lakeland and Bulacan went through the first two innings and the top of the third in a pitching duel between Lakeland's Rylee Beebe and Bulacan's Princess Lyza Sioson and Carlene Jade Santos. The pitchers only allowed a combined seven players on base. The bottom of the third was a different story.
Beebe started off the bottom of the third with an instant out, but from there Bulacan exploded. Two walks and a hit by pitch later saw Bulacan load the bases.
Off the next batter Bulacan scored twice, before adding another off an error on the next pitch. After a walk, Bulacan was in a bases loaded situation once again.
Beebe struck out Bulacan's Janarie Joy Santos, for the second out of the inning, before allowing a walk that made Lakeland's deficit 4-0.

The defensive back seven was decimated by injuries in 2025 so if one thing could change for 2026 better health would be at the top of the list. If there is a silver lining to last season's injury cloud, it is that lots of players had to step up and in the process they gained invaluable experience.
Continuing with the approach of looking at returning talent, portal acquisitions and incoming true freshmen, let's start with the linebackers which should be a position of strength due to all the returning experience and talent.
Luke Mergott started 2025 as a reserve but ended the season as a star with game sealing interceptions in both the ACC Championship Game and the Sun Bowl. Mergott recorded 90 tackles, which was the second most by a Blue Devil during the 2025 season.
Four additional linebackers with significant experience return: Nick Morris, Jr. (785 career snaps), Kendall Johnson (648 career snaps), Bradley Gompers (190 career snaps) and Elliot Schaper (118 career snaps). Those snaps are not just raw numbers but rather represent much production. The linebacker position was hurt by injuries in 2025. Can these experienced and talented players stay healthy? The talent and experience are there if the players can remain on the field.
Defensive end is another position where Duke will be relying on returning talent. Tyshon Reed, Kevin O'Connor, Kobe Smith, Bryce Davis and Semaj Turner have only one start between them but they have combined to play 2,042 snaps over 100 games. These experienced players must step up into the starters role in 2026.

A little rain may have changed some plans, but it couldn't stop the 2026 Taunton Junior City Open.
A wet, windy morning on Monday, Aug. 3 saw the opening round of the Silver City's annual youth golf tournament shortened, with Divisions 2 (ages 14-15) and Division 3 (ages 16-18) playing nine holes instead of the usual 18 while Division 1 (ages 11-13) was able to just get in six holes before the skies broke open. However, a much brighter and drier final round followed on Tuesday, Aug. 4 saw all 18 holes and then some played at the John F. Parker Municipal Golf Course, and with it, three new champions crowned.
In Division 3, Taunton High rising junior Colby Emond reigned supreme, improving on his third place Division 2 showing in 2025 to take the oldest division ****** le shooting a combined 111 (+6) over 27 holes. Luke Durfee finished runner up, shooting a 113 (+8) while Emond's Tiger teammate Logan Gallinger shot 115 (+10) to finish third.
"(It was) just two good days of golf," Emond said. "Wasn't the greatest conditions, but I got it done and that's all that matters."
In Division 2, Bristol-Plymouth rising sophomore Cal Soderberg and Taunton High rising sophomore Liam Ballantine found themselves tied at 114 (+9) after 27 holes, sending the duo to a sudden-death overtime. After both shot a 5 on the first two holes, Soderberg surpassed Ballantine with a par putt for 4 on the third hole to secure the ****** le. His fellow Craftsman rising sophomore, Camden Scimonelli, came in third after shooting a 118 (+13).

AstraZeneca (AZN) stock took a nosedive Monday amid reports it's mulling a megamerger with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMY).
The combined company would be worth roughly $400 billion, "making it one of the biggest pharmaceutical mergers in history," RBC Capital Markets ******* yst Trung Huynh said in a report. The Financial Times first reported the early merger talks. AstraZeneca declined to comment to Investor's Business Daily. Bristol Myers didn't immediately respond.
The deal would merge two oncology powerhouses, and likely trigger an antitrust review. Bristol Myers fills portfolio gaps in blood cancer, immunology, cardiovascular diseases and central nervous system conditions where AstraZeneca lacks scale today, Huynh said.
AstraZeneca stock tumbled 6.9% to 157.97. Shares are already trading below their 21-day, 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Bristol Myers Squibb stock, on the other hand, inched a fraction higher to 65.47. The stock ended the regular session in a buy zone that runs up to 66.03.
Given the size of the two companies, the deal would likely be mostly stock-based, resulting in Bristol Myers shareholders owning roughly a third of the combined company, William Blair ******* yst Matt Phipps said in a client note. He says $160 billion makes sense as a price tag for Bristol Myers Squibb.

Dbacks manager Torey Lovullo started off his postgame interview stating that this game had a 'funky rhythm' to it, and I think that is a great way to summarize it.
Eduardo Rodriguez who went 8 scoreless in his last outing, got jumped in this outing. The Padres came out of the gates with a lot of hard contact scoring 3 runs in the first inning and 2 more in the second inning and before anyone could get settled in, the Dbacks were already chasing 5 runs. ERod certainly didn't have his best stuff tonight, but due to the amount of hard contact he was giving up early in this game, Im sure there are going to be people who are suspecting there was atleast some degree of pitch tipping going on.
The defense behind ERod also let him down multiple times as multiple ****** clanked off of Arenado's mitt at 3rd base, none of them errors, but still not common to see from the perennial gold glove winner. Ketel Marte also missed a critical double play on a bobble that allowed extra runs to score as of the 7 runs scored tonight while ERod was pitching, only 5 of them were earned. Certainly not the crisp defense this team typically relies on to win games. It should be noted however that despite not having his best stuff, ERod was still able to pitch into the 6th inning tonight.
The offense did nothing for 8 of the 9 innings tonight with the exception of the 7th when the Dbacks offense blasted 2 homeruns. Nolan Arenado hit the first, a 2 run shot to get the Dbacks on the board. James McCann hit the second of the inning another 2 run shot, and then all of a sudden its an 8-4 ballgame and the Padres are getting up Mason Miller in the 8th. However the Padres would then tack on another run in the 9th inning to sit Miller back down and solidify the final score of 9-4.
Of particular note in this one, Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll combined to go 0-8 as they continue to slide as they have done the past 6 weeks or so. This team desperately needs them to step up if this team is going to maintain any kind of wild card lead and make a playoff run. Hopefully this is just the calm before the storm.

The big names for the San Diego Padres ambushed the Arizona Diamondbacks early, plating three runs in both the first and second innings, then powered through a late hiccup with a 9-4 win on Tuesday at Chase Field.
Manny Machado had a four-RBI night as he matched his season high as one of three Padres (59-55) with three hits, while Randy Vásquez had one of his strongest starts of the season. Despite allowing two or fewer runs in eight of his last nine starts, Diamondbacks (60-54) All-Star Eduardo Rodriguez got roughed up early.
San Diego's big bats combined for nine hits and five runs scored, as Jackson Merrill matched Machado with a trio of knocks while adding a pair of RBI. Merrill also joined Fernando Tatis Jr. and Luis Rengifo in coming across home to score twice as the Brown and Gold put up 16 hits — the Padres have notched all three of their 16 or more hit efforts since July 19.
It was backed up by Vásquez following up his 4 2/3 inning relief appearance on July 30 by pitching six complete for the sixth time and not surrendering a run for the third time when getting the nod. Geraldo Perdomo was the only D-back to touch him, getting singles in the first and fourth.
Tatis got to offense going right out of the gate with a lead off rocket-liner double down the third base line, then came home to score on Machado's one-out double. Then San Diego tacked on two more with two down, as Merrill singled to right and Machado beat out Corbin Carroll's throw to the plate. It allowed Merrill to take second, which was key when Xander Bogaerts cracked it back up the middle for an early 3-0 lead.

With a player meeting expected to unveil more information to LIV Golf members who are uncertain what lies ahead, Cameron Smith said he's preparing for the season-ending LIV Golf Team Championship as if it's still happening, even though fellow league member Martin Kaymer was quoted as saying he thought there was a 5 percent chance the event would go in Michigan as planned.
"We've been told to prepare as though it's going ahead. So we're expecting it to happen," Smith said during a press conference on Tuesday. "I'm really unsure, but we had a great year there last year in Detroit, and we're hoping we get back there. It's a great golf course, a great venue, and the crowds really turned up as well. Yeah, would be disappointed if it wasn't."
The circuit's turbulent 2026 season appeared poised to take another significant hit last week, when reports leaked that the league was expected to announce the cancellation of its team championship at The Cardinal in Plymouth, marking the second event scrubbed from this year's schedule.
The social media account "Flushing It" first reported the development, while LIV officials had not responded to Golfweek's request for comment.
The news followed April's decision to postpone LIV Golf New Orleans, an event that was originally slated for July and has yet to receive a replacement date. Combined with seven weeks without competition before last week's LIV Golf UK event, the move underscores a season that has been defined as much by uncertainty as by on-course action.

Additions: Payton Brennan (transfer), Trevor Goldenetz (transfer), Sawyer Solitaria (transfer), Carlos Lugo (transfer), Trent Maybin (signee)
Returning: Anthony Pack Jr., Jonah Williams
SEC Freshman of the Year Anthony Pack Jr. is the returning outfield starter for Texas after a second straight season in which the Longhorns struggled to field three quality contributors. For a second straight year, Jonah Williams also dealt with injury issues, playing in eight games before undergoing season-ending shoulder injury.
Losing Williams, combined with the 2025 MLB Draft defections of transfers Jack Moroknek and Kaleb Freeman, contributed to 94 at bats for Jayden Duplantier, 15 starts for late addition Dariyan Pendergrass, who committed to Texas in December, and 14 starts for Maddox Monsour. In 96 combined at bats, Pendergrass and Monsour totaled three extra-base hits while both hitting under .200.

The St. Louis Cardinals (56-57) and New York Yankees (63-50) continue their three-game series tonight at Yankee Stadium.
Its been a challenge offensively for these teams for much of the season, but last night the bats were alive as the teams combined for 20 runs and 23 hits as the Cards rallied in the eighth inning to win 13-7. Alec Burleson put on a show all by himself with three home runs and six runs batted in but he was not the only player who went yard. Jimmy Crooks and Nathan Church also homered for St. Louis and the Yankees went deep five times. Recently acquired Luis Garcia Jr., Ryan McMahon, Trent Grisham, Jose Caballero, and Austin Wells circled the bases for the hometown Pinstripes. Buried behind all the offensive fireworks was a poor outing from Cam Schlittler who walked five and gave up four hits and four runs over just three innings.
With the loss New York dropped to 3.5 games behind the Rays in the AL East while the Cardinals kept pace in the NL Wild Card chase with the win.
St. Louis is expected to turn to right-hander Hunter Dobbins (2-1, 3.74 ERA). The 26-year-old has been inconsistent this season. Last Monday he allowed seven hits and four runs over 5.1 innings against the Cubs. The previous Wednesday, though, Dobbins threw six shutout innings against the Angels. The Yankees counter with Ryan Weathers (4-7, 3.99 ERA). The southpaw has been sharp his last two starts allowing just nine hits and one earned run over 12.2 innings.
After Monday's offensive explosion, the biggest question entering Game 2 is whether the sudden offense stays around or if either side's pitching regains control.

Manchester City continue their pre-season duties as they face a combined team of K-League's best players at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea on Wednesday.
The Enzo Maresca era started in Hong Kong with a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan. Divin Mubama opened the scoreline with the easiest of tap-ins after a wonderful Antoine ***** yo solo run on the 14 minute mark. Inter, however, took only six spins on the clock to equalise, as Benjamin Pavard scored after a mess in City's defence.
The Italian side went on to win the Asahi Super Dry Trophy on penalties. Despite Gianluigi Donnarumma's incredible save to deny Davide Frattesi; Rayan Ait Nouri, Abdukodir Khusanov and Nico González all missed from the spot. Claudio Echeverri, with a cheeky panenka, scored the Blues' only goal in the shootout, as Inter claimed a 1-3 win on penalties.

All streaks must eventually come to an end. Blue Jays 3 Astros 1 For Houston, their 6-game run might be history, but a new chapter has officially begun. A few hours prior to Monday's trade deadline, Houston would acquire Daulton Varsho in an effort to shore up their outfield production. Varsho would seize the moment, paying immediate dividends in the first inning. In some ways, it was only fitting that Nathan Lukes would start the night flying out to Daulton, and then in his Astros debut at the plate, he'd reach on a single to right field.
In the top of the second, Alejandro Kirk started the scoring with a solo shot to left field. That made the score 1-0. In the fourth, Toronto would increase their lead after a pair of hits from Kazuma Okamoto and George Springer, combined with an error from Taylor Trammell. That combination of events made things 3-0.
Houston would have their chances early but failed to capitalize. In their first and second innings they'd have multiple runners on base, but Christian Walker and Jeremy Pena each struck out swinging, stranding a pair of runners.
Cristian Javier would provide a quality start. Javier would go 6 innings and allow just 3 runs while scattering 7 hits. In the 7th inning, Tatsuya Imai would make his debut out of the bullpen and pitch three scoreless innings, at one point, striking out five in a row for an impressive relief outing.
In the bottom of the 6th, Houston would load the bases. They'd score their first and only run on Jeremy Pena's RBI single which brought in Yanier Diaz. In the frame, Yordan Alvarez would be intentionally walked for the 23rd time this season. The Astros all-time record is 27 free passes, which Jeff Bagwell registered back in 1997.

LOS ANGELES — At Monday's trade deadline, the Red Sox made aggressive moves to solidify their roster for a playoff push and paid a big price to do so.
The biggest? Boston acquired catcher Adley Rutschman from the Orioles marking a major step in Craig Breslow's efforts to bolster the club's offense for the stretch run. The Red Sox sent a hefty five-player package to Baltimore of catcher Carlos Narváez, pitching prospects Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, outfield prospect Enddy Azocar and a player to be named later. The Sox are also getting backup catcher Jake Rogers and cash in the swap. Contrary to some reports, outfield prospect Harold Rivas was not involved in the deal.
The Red Sox, who have won 31 of their last 39 games and now possess the third-best record in the American League behind the Rays and Yankees, have been looking for upgrades at catcher and shortstop in recent days as well as searching for rotation and bullpen depth. Adding Rutschman provides clear upside behind the plate, where Narváez, Connor Wong (and for a spell, Mickey Gasper) have combined to post the sixth-worst OPS in the sport (.615) and the fewest home runs (4). The move — paired with last Saturday's 1-for-1 swap that sent Connelly Early to Washington for Curtis Mead — is a clear sign Breslow believes in his group and believes the Sox can make a deep run. Mead's bat will not be a factor in the coming weeks after he broke his wrist when he was hit by a pitch in his Red Sox debut.

In Rutschman, the Red Sox are getting a former No. 1 overall pick (2019) who had an up-and-down tenure in Baltimore, where he once appeared to be a franchise cornerstone. After a very strong three-year start to his big league career from 2022 to 2024, Rutschman took a step back last season and was limited, by injury, to 90 games. This year, he has taken a step forward again and was named an All-Star for the third time.

One of the Seattle Seahawks fan-favorite players may be on the shelf, as fullback Robbie Ouzts wasn't at practice once again.
Possibly more concerning is the verbiage used by head coach Mike Macdonald when he talked about trying to gain more information on Ouzts' "situation."
Making this potentially worse is the fact that Ouzts missed the last two games of 2025 season with a neck injury. There's nothing concretely linking these two things together, but considering the fact that Ouzts was practicing fully and then suddenly missing combined with the fact that his position requires him to repeatedly slam into opposing defenders to open holes for the running game…consider me concerned. Hopefully this will blow over and Ouzts will be back out there pancaking defenders.
In other injury news, running back Jacardia Wright also suffered a leg injury, but there was no update on him from Macdonald.
Wright is another player who was injured and missed most of last season. He's also part of the backfield room with a recovering Zach Charbonnet and no more Kenny McIntosh. There will likely need to be additions here to spread out the preseason carries.
