Semiconductor stocks are falling out of bed and flashing red. Under the market's hood, the rally is still running green.
The PHLX Semiconductor Index (^SOX) briefly broke below 11,000 Tuesday, now down over 25% from its June peak, as another wave of selling swept from South Korea through US chip stocks.
The test marks the latest failure for a group that was already testing a make-or-break level earlier this month. The Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) fell roughly 11% Tuesday and is down over 40% from its June high.
The damage runs through some of the biggest memory names.

CHICAGO − Ohio State football coach Ryan Day said the handful of players who were held out at the end of spring practice in April have been participants in summer workouts and are due to return for the start of training camp in August.
Austin Siereveld and Phillip Daniels, the Buckeyes' returning starting left and right tackles, and Earl Little Jr., a transfer safety from Florida State, were among those who underwent procedures late in spring practice.
Day did not divulge the details of the injuries to Siereveld and Daniels during the spring, but then described their procedures as small ones. He said Little had a cleanup procedure on a knee that led him to miss the spring game.
"It's good to get all those guys back and have a full summer with them, which has been great," Day said during Big Ten media days on July 29. "Now we're ready for the preseason and everything looks good. I think it was the right thing to do. At the end of the year, you've got to clean up your shoulders, you've got to clean up your knees. All that went well."
While Siereveld started at left tackle last season, he also made six starts at left guard in 2024 and could slide inside if the Buckeyes reconfigure their offensive line to include Ian Moore, a promising redshirt sophomore.

Golf architect Kyle Phillips has broken ground on the course at the private Pandion Club in Estero, Florida. The new layout, intended to invoke the heathland courses of England with Lowcountry influences, is being built on the site of the former Old Corkscrew Golf Club that was closed earlier this year.
Phillips plans a par-71 course for Pandion Club, stretching to 7,220 with firm and fast playing conditions and a premium on strategic shotmaking. The new layout is scheduled to open in 2027 with membership capped at 280. The golf-only club will include a Lowcountry-inspired clubhouse and expansive practice facilities. The name Pandion is inspired by Pandion haliaetus, aka osprey.
The layout features sandy terrain that should promote Phillips' goals. Having built the top-ranked Kingsbarns Golf Links and Dundonald Links in Scotland and having studied courses around the world, Phillips said that heathland courses are situated on inland dunes, "like the ones we have in Florida."
Old Corkscrew and additional surrounding land was purchased in 2022 by The Hoffmann Family of Companies for $14.5 million, according to property records reported by the Naples Daily News. The Hoffmans purchased the Cottages at Old Corkscrew Golf Club for $4.5 million in a separate transaction. The Hoffmanns also own Old Collier Golf Club in Naples, as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Everblades.
"Everything we do at Hoffmann Family of Companies, we want to provide a unique, best-in-class experience for our guests, and Pandion is going to be no exception" Geoff Hoffmann, CEO of HF Companies' private equity arm, said in a media release announcing the start of construction. The energy sector in 2026 is experiencing a split-margin scenario that few investors are pricing cleanly. Even though the broader market views the sector as mature and low-growth, refining margins remain significantly higher than their typical mid-cycle range.
Chemicals, on the other hand, are only now recovering from some of their lowest margins in years, with the Chemical Manufacturing Industry posting an EBITDA margin of 16.86% in the year leading up to Q2 2026.
Meanwhile, renewable diesel, which has long been a burden on integrated energy earnings, is moving from below break-even to mid-cycle profitability, thanks to a regulatory reset rather than increased demand. This comes as S&P Global reported that the applicable biomass-based diesel volume requirement has been substantially raised from 5.42 billion gallons in 2025 to 9.07 billion gallons in 2026.
Only a handful of companies sit at the center of all three cycles simultaneously. That's why Phillips 66 (NYSE:PSX) is worth a deeper study. It isn't a pure refiner, a pure chemicals operation, or a pure renewables gamble, but rather a company whose near-term earnings potential depends on three distinct margin recoveries occurring nearly in sync.
The refining rebound is already quantifiable as PSX's realized refining margin increased by 48% to $10.11 per barrel in Q1 2026, from $6.81 the previous year, while crude capacity utilization increased to 95% from 80%. This lifted the refining business from a $937 million adjusted loss in Q1 2025 to a $208 million adjusted profit, bringing overall adjusted EPS to $0.49, above the Wall Street forecast of a $0.40 per share loss.

The 33-year-old joins Charlton Athletic following a short spell with Leicester City. Neville joined The Foxes in January and made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions. She was unable to keep the East Midlands side in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Neville is best known for her eight-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur. She was a Barclays WSL2 promotion-winner and an Adobe Women's FA Cup runner-up in her time in North London. Neville was so often one of Spurs' top performers and she was unlucky not to receive an England call-up earlier in her career.
After joining Charlton Athletic, Neville said "I'm really happy. It's an exciting journey for myself and the club, so really happy to be here.

According to two executives who watched his latest rehab appearance on Tuesday night, Mets starter and trade candidate Clay Holmes "looked big-league ready."
Scouts from the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks were among those who flocked to Dunedin, Fla., to evaluate Holmes, out since mid-May after a fibula fracture.
Pitching for Single-A St. Lucie, Holmes threw four scoreless innings and 59 pitches. His next start lines up for Aug. 2, one day before the trade deadline. It's not known whether that start will be for the Mets or someone else.

Last night was a tightly contested pitching duel that saw the Yankees build an early lead and then survive a late White Sox rally. New York scored all three of its runs in the second inning against White Sox starter Anthony Kay. The rally began when Jasson Domínguez singled and Trent Grisham followed with a hit. Anthony Volpe then drilled an RBI double to deep center field, scoring Domínguez. Two batters later, Max Schuemann delivered the biggest hit of the game, a two-run double that plated both Grisham and Volpe for a 3-0 Yankees lead. The story for most of the evening, though, was Gerrit Cole, who looked dominant in his sixth start since returning from Tommy John surgery. Cole worked six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while striking out seven and walking two. Chicago struggled to generate offense until the ninth inning. Yankees closer David Bednar entered looking for his 22nd save, but Braden Montgomery singled and Chase Meidroth followed with a dramatic two-run homer to left field, trimming the deficit to 3-2. Tobacco Road, built by the late Mike Strantz and one of the most dramatically shaped golf courses found anywhere, has a new sibling. The Matchbox – a 12-hole, par-3 course that embraces the ethos established by Strantz on the property near Pinehurst – opens August 1 in Sanford, North Carolina.
The new short course is the result of a partnership between Carlton/Marshall Golf Design and Mike White, one of the shapers who worked for Strantz on the full-size Tobacco Road layout that opened in 1998 in the Sandhills.
"There's a direct line from our past to the present – and we believe The Matchbox will become a must-play experience in its own right," Mark Stewart, whose family opened Tobacco Road, said in a media release announcing the opening of The Matchbox.
The Matchbox was constructed in just six months near Nos. 12 and 13 of the big course. Holes range from 40 to 105 yards and feature synthetic turf blended into the natural landscape, a choice that allowed the builders to preserve more trees instead of clearing room for grass to grow. The choice of synthetic turf also avoided the installation of irrigation.
Guests can book tee times from the opening date through December.

Not much to report on, as inclement weather wiped out games for Lehigh Valley, Reading, and Jersey Shore on Tuesday night. But the two teams that avoided the East coast rain were victorious.
The Threshers scored 13 runs across the fifth and sixth innings to record an easy win over the Hammerheads. Victor Cardoza was the biggest contributor with three hits including his first home run of the season. First baseman Nolan Beltran also had three hits and scored three runs, while third baseman Robert Phelps had two hits and three RBI out of the leadoff spot.
With that run support, the Threshers pitching staff didn't have to be great. Starter Sean Youngerman allowed two runs in four innings, and Giussepe Velasquez earned the win by giving up one run in two innings.

Although Saquon Barkley clearly leads the Eagles' backfield, Tank Bigsby is poised to take a huge leap in his fourth NFL season. Here's why fantasy managers should reach early for the handcuff.
There is room on this team for both Barkley and Bigsby to thrive, at least relatively speaking. Barkley has had 288+ regular-season touches in four straight seasons. He's still the workhorse, and last year's letdown was predictable (as discussed last summer) given his massive 2024 workload.
Bigsby's RB55 ADP (down from RB52 three weeks ago) reflects the fantasy market's uncertainty about his usage. After earning only 61 touches last year, he's ranked behind Dylan Sampson (RB51), Isiah Pacheco (RB52), Keaton Mitchell (RB53), Emmett Johnson (RB54), and many other second- and third-stringers.
It doesn't make sense. He was among the league leaders with 3.1 yards-after-first-contact on 63 rushing attempts. He didn't get his first snap in Philly until Week 7 and frequently outplayed Barkley while running behind the same offensive line. I don't think the Eagles will overwork Barkley. 300-325 touches seems realistic. That would open the door to at least 100, or even 125, touches for Bigsby.
Volume-wise, that would probably put him in the top 50, possibly the top 45. And if Barkley is ever sidelined, Bigsby would have top-20 appeal in a plus offense.

Brendan Allen believes UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is a bad matchup for Nassourdine Imavov.
Imavov (17-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) said he's 100 percent confident that he's next in line for a ***** le shot against Strickland (31-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC). Imavov hasn't lost a bout since dropping a five-round decision to Strickland in January 2023 – a fight which Strickland took on short notice at light heavyweight.
Allen (27-7 MMA, 15-4 UFC), who also has a loss to Strickland, explained the difference between their short-notice fights.
"It was up at 205. I think Sean took it on Tuesday, but from what I understood from that one is Sean was out, he was chilling, that's why it was at 205," Allen told Submission Radio. "When I fought Sean, he had just fought two weeks before. So, he was still in really good shape. I was the one who didn't want to make '85 back to back. I didn't know how my body would recover, so that's why we fought at '95, but he was still in really good shape. But with Imavov, I heard he'd been out. He was recovering, not really training super a lot."

Sitting inside his sprawling Hollywood Hills home, worth an estimated $8 million, Shetty's digs are a far cry from the Hindu monk principles of humble detachment he once practiced and has encouraged to display. But for a star in media's hottest category—who recently signed a new podcast deal with Spotify and Netflix that will pay him a combined $100 million over the next three years—the studio and residence are fitting.
"I mean, I'm not a monk anymore," Shetty tells Forbes. "Today I consider myself an entrepreneur and a leader in this ****** e, and that allows me to have the ability to use money as a resource to do good in the world and create impact in the way that we've chosen to do that."
For top podcasters like Shetty, the money has also never been better. The entry of video platforms such as Netflix, Hulu and Tubi into a still-frothy marketplace of audio distributors (including Spotify, SiriusXM and Amazon) have pushed paydays into territory once reserved for movie stars. A pre-season under his belt will surely help Isak enormously and perhaps fix all the problems. But it's still difficult to believe that Liverpool can entirely rely on him next season.
Which is a problem because Hugo Ekitike will miss around half the season at least. His achilles injury keeps him out long-term and, worryingly, we won't know what state he'll be in when he's back.

Horse rider Ella Woolley is swapping the trails of Derbyshire for the Texas terrain as she pursues her cowgirl dream.
The 19-year-old has ridden horses in Wormhill, near Buxton, from an early age and has been learning to ride bucking horses since January.
Despite being a relative beginner, she has made plans to develop her ranch bronc riding skills in America and has ambitions to compete in the world championships.

Trying to describe what happened when the St. Louis Cardinals played a baseball game against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night is like trying to explain what it looked like when you see a dumpster on fire. It wasn't pretty, but it happened so let's begin.
The Chicago Cubs made St. Louis Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy look like a batting practice pitcher. It started out promising enough (for the first out, anyway) when Pete Crow-Armstrong struck out gloriously. From there, it was downhill at blazing speed. I'll keep this as brief as possible. Suzuki singled. Two batters later, Bregman hit a ground rule double then Ian Happ hit a double which made it 2-0 Cubs before most of the Busch Stadium crowd had even taken their seat.
The top of the 2nd inning was worse. So much worse. Conforto singled. Kelly walked. Two batters later, PCA hit a sacrifice fly then Suzuki doubled, Busch singled, Bregman singled, Happ walked, then Nico ******* ner singled to right. By the time the carnage was over, it was 7-0 Cubs. Even the all-you-can-eat Busch Stadium food deal isn't enough to redeem this type of experience. Michael McGreevy didn't even finish the 2nd inning. The Cubs were determined to squash whatever faint hopes the Cardinals might have managed with that menial 1-run bottom of the 4th by grabbing another run in the top of the 5th inning when Nico ******* ner walked then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch by Justin Bruihl and then scored on an infield single from Ramirez restoring the 7-run lead making it 8-1 Chicago. The Cubs added another run in the top of the 8th to make it 9-1 and another in the top of the 9th to make it 10-1, but who really cares? Oh, the Cardinals did add a run in the bottom of the 9th inning when Masyn Winn doubled in Lars Nootbaar who had walked to make the final score 10-2, but we still don't care.

The Chicago Cubs made St. Louis Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy look like a batting practice pitcher. It started out promising enough (for the first out, anyway) when Pete Crow-Armstrong struck out gloriously. From there, it was downhill at blazing speed. I'll keep this as brief as possible. Suzuki singled. Two batters later, Bregman hit a ground rule double then Ian Happ hit a double which made it 2-0 Cubs before most of the Busch Stadium crowd had even taken their seat.
The top of the 2nd inning was worse. So much worse. Conforto singled. Kelly walked. Two batters later, PCA hit a sacrifice fly then Suzuki doubled, Busch singled, Bregman singled, Happ walked, then Nico ******* ner singled to right. By the time the carnage was over, it was 7-0 Cubs. Even the all-you-can-eat Busch Stadium food deal isn't enough to redeem this type of experience. Michael McGreevy didn't even finish the 2nd inning. The Houston Rockets have had players donning a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one not part of any numerical series for Houston ****** istant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players in the course of Rockets history.
To honor all of the players who wore those numbers over the decades, Rockets Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who wore them since the founding of the team all those years ago right up to the present day.

And for today's article, we will continue with the first of four who wore the No. 24, forward alum Bud Acton. After ending his college career at Hillsdale, Acton went unselected in the 1966 NBA Draft, playing in other leagues until he signed with the (then) San Diego (now, Houston) Rockets in 1968.
The Troy, Michigan native played the only 23 games of his NBA career with the Rockets, leaving the league as a player afterward.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay says that although Aaron Donald's training is going well, the star defensive tackle isn't close to making a decision on a comeback bid.
McVay provided a small update on Donald's progress Tuesday after the Rams' third practice of training camp at Loyola Marymount University. The coach said he's speaking with the 35-year-old Donald during the process of determining whether he'll return for an 11th NFL season after a 2 1/2-year retirement.
"We've kept in contact," McVay said with a small smile. "He's feeling good. His training is going really well, but no new news on the front of any imminent decision on whether or not he's going to play or not."
McVay curiously claimed he didn't know whether Donald has been working out at the Rams' training complex in Woodland Hills, even though Donald has been seen and photographed at the facility. Donald has been a regular visitor to the Rams' complex ever since he walked away from the team somewhat abruptly in March 2024 following a decade of dominance.
"He's got places that he can train at," McVay said. "He's not here with us (at Loyola Marymount). There's **** ody at the Rams facility right now, so maybe TMZ knows the answer to that."

WESTFIELD – As he marveled at the zip on the ball and the fluidity with which his starting quarterback moved during recent private workouts in Florida, Colts receiver Josh Downs says he had to remind himself that Daniel Jones was ever injured.
"That's how good he looked out there. I'm excited to see him out there, full-go and getting after it," Downs said Tuesday.
Wednesday marks a monumental day for the 29-year-old quarterback, who a year ago entered camp on a one-year, $14 million prove-it deal that only promised him the chance to compete with 2023 fourth overall pick Anthony Richardson Sr. for the Colts' starting role, and no more.
In Indianapolis, Jones matched wits with head coach Shane Steichen and found himself holding the car keys to what in September and October was the league's most electric offense, and seemed a shoo-in to compete for the AFC's top seed and threaten for a deep playoff push.
Not yet even eight months ago, Jones collapsed onto the turf in Indianapolis' house of horrors in Jacksonville. A resurgent campaign that had sparked MVP conversations had been first hampered by a fractured fibula and then ended with the snap of his right Achilles tendon Dec. 7. But Wednesday, Jones returned to the field without restrictions. What once was a very real question -- whether Jones would be ready for a Week 1 return -- seems a foregone conclusion.
