WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Communications Commission is considering a request by a conservative group to loosen rules on political robocalls, including those with artificial intelligence-generated voices, before November's midterm elections.
Federal law currently bans most robocalls to cellphones unless the caller gets consent beforehand. The petition calls for a waiver that would allow political groups to use artificial or prerecorded voices in unsolicited wireless calls.
The Republican-led FCC advanced the request for public comment and could rule on it as soon as late October.
Consumer advocacy groups warn the proposed change could trigger a surge of unwanted, partisan and potentially misleading automated calls in the critical final days of the election, which will determine which party controls Congress for the final two years of President Donald Trump's term.
The potential perils became evident two years ago during the presidential primary season when thousands of voters in New Hampshire received a robocall with an AI-generated voice of then-President Joe Biden. The call suggested voters should forgo casting a ballot in the primary and "save" their votes for the general election.

Auxier ******* et Management, an investment advisory firm, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Following a strong rebound from the first-quarter decline, the S&P 500 gained 15.2% as accelerating capital spending toward artificial intelligence infrastructure drove significant gains across technology hardware companies. Semiconductor and data-center-related businesses benefited from supply constraints and strong demand, while enterprise software remained under pressure as investors reassessed AI disruption risks and compressed valuations. In the quarter, Auxier Focus Fund's Investor Class gained 8.82% and 10.70% for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Despite strong earnings growth across the broader market, Auxier highlighted concerns around rising margin debt, increased leverage, and elevated capital flows into high-growth technology areas that could amplify future volatility. The firm continues to focus on identifying enduring businesses with strong competitive advantages, resilient cash flows, and sustainable long-term growth potential. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Auxier ******* et Management highlighted UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) as a material contributor. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) is a multinational health benefits company based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. On September 14, 2026, UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) closed at $383.55 per share. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) has a market capitalization of $344.27 billion with a 52-week trading range between $255.97 and $461.62.
Auxier ******* et Management stated the following regarding UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) Leads the Way in Reshaping the Insurance Industry with AI UnitedHealth Group is among the companies that have successfully integrated AI into various parts of their operations. One of the most significant benefits has been in administrative functions, where AI has helped save tens of thousands of hours through increased automation and efficiency. As an example, automated transcription of patient encounters has contributed to lower levels of clinician burnout. Management reports that they are generating about $2 of value for every $1 spent on AI due to reductions in manual labor. If you bought Meta Platforms (META) for its advertising engine, the engine still runs: revenue rose 28% year over year in the June 2026 quarter, and its Advantage+ automated campaigns keep growing. What has changed is where the cash goes afterward. The question for a holder is whether Meta is still the business you bought.
Over the twelve months through the June 2026 quarter, capital spending took 39.1% of revenue, against 18.5% across Meta's history. That money buys servers, data centers and network infrastructure. In late July 2026, Meta also announced a venture with BlackRock to develop a 1 gigawatt data center in El Paso, Texas. The plan is to keep going: management narrowed its 2026 capital-spending range by lifting the bottom of it.
Less cash is left over. TTM free-cash-flow margin is 18.0%, against 32.8% across its history, so on each dollar of sales Meta keeps a little more than half the free cash it used to.
Borrowing fills part of the gap. Debt has risen to 25.0% of total ******* ets, against a historical 7.0%, and the CFO says Meta is adding more debt to lower its cost of capital. Meta still holds more cash and marketable securities than debt.
Together, those three readings are the most unusual combination Meta has shown in 14 years. Taken with the 2026 spending floor that management has raised, the combination reads as a change in the business rather than one quarter of noise.

On August 5, Cytek Biosciences (NASDAQ:CTKB) reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, and the report reads like two different companies at once. Revenue climbed, margins widened, and the installed base of instruments kept expanding. At the same time, the net loss more than doubled from a year earlier and adjusted EBITDA swung negative. For a company selling hardware into cell ***** ysis labs, that split between growing revenue and growing losses is the story investors need to untangle.
Total revenue reached $48.1 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 6% from the second quarter of 2025, and the growth came from more than one source. Cytek expanded its installed base to 3,933 instruments as of June 30, 2026, adding 142 units in the quarter, and each new machine tends to pull in service and reagent sales over time. That dynamic already shows up in the numbers: recurring revenue from service and reagents hit $18.5 million in the quarter, and on a trailing 12-month basis it now makes up 35% of total revenue, up from 32% a year earlier.
Gross profit told a similar story, climbing 19% to $28.3 million, with GAAP gross margin rising to 59% from 52% and adjusted gross margin reaching 61% from 56%. Some of that lift came from a one-time tariff refund, but even stripped of it, adjusted gross margin still improved to 56%. Cytek also launched the Borealis, a 7-laser flow cytometer built for 60-color panels, and rolled out more automated configurations of its Aurora Evo line, giving the sales team new hardware to sell into the rest of 2026. Full-year revenue guidance moved up to a range of $207 million to $212 million, raising the midpoint by $1 million.
The same quarter that grew revenue also widened the losses. Operating expenses rose 15% year over year to $39.7 million, with general and administrative costs jumping 24% to $16.8 million because of litigation-related expenses, severance, and other personnel costs. R&D spending grew 10% to $9.7 million, and sales and marketing rose 9% to $13.2 million, so the increase was not confined to one line item. The loss from operations widened to $11.4 million from $10.6 million a year earlier, and net loss more than doubled to $12.2 million from $5.6 million.
Adjusted EBITDA, which strips out stock-based compensation and currency swings, swung to a $1.5 million loss from a positive $1.3 million a year earlier, after also adjusting for a write-off tied to an early-stage technology investment. The tariff refund that boosted this quarter's headline gross margin also means the underlying figures, 53% GAAP and 56% adjusted, are the more honest baseline going forward. Cash and marketable securities held roughly flat at $262.0 million as of June 30, 2026, down only slightly from $262.2 million three months earlier, so the balance sheet has not yet felt the strain.

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $3.41 billion, up 34% year over year. Next-Generation Security annual recurring revenue, or NGS ARR, increased 63% to $9.10 billion, while remaining performance obligations rose 34% to $21.2 billion. Remaining performance obligations represent contracted revenue not yet recognized.
NGS ARR is a company-reported operating metric measuring annualized allocated revenue from active contracts, excluding hardware, legacy attached subscriptions and support, and professional services. The current portfolio includes acquired identity and observability businesses absent from the prior-year base, so the 63% increase is not an organic growth rate. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) also reported a $282 million GAAP net loss after earning $254 million a year earlier.
The commercial indicators support greater customer consolidation onto the expanded platform. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) added approximately $970 million of net new NGS ARR. The $21.2 billion RPO balance provides visibility as contracted revenue is recognized over time.
Cash generation also remained strong despite the GAAP loss. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) produced $1.36 billion of operating cash flow, up from $1.02 billion a year earlier. That cash supports integration work.
Management expects fiscal 2027 revenue of $14.10 billion to $14.20 billion, representing growth of 23% to 24%. NGS ARR is expected to reach $11.075 billion to $11.175 billion, up 22% to 23%. Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) also acquired Console, an AI-native platform intended to add agentic workflows to Cortex and extend automated investigation and remediation across enterprise operations.

Bloomberg reported on August 25, 2026, that BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK) cut the minimum size for converting large Bitcoin holdings directly into shares of its iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF to $1 million in July, down from $25 million when the in-kind conversion process first became available. The fund has facilitated more than $5 billion of these conversions, up from more than $3 billion when Bloomberg first reported on the trend in October, according to Robbie Mitchnick, BlackRock's head of digital ******* ets. The process, which can take more than a week, lets holders move Bitcoin from private wallets into a regulated fund structure while retaining price exposure. Mitchnick said "kidnappings, ransom demands, and custody failures" motivate some holders to make the switch. Rival issuer Bitwise has cut its own minimum even further, from $100 million to $3 million, Bloomberg reported.
This is a fast-scaling new source of fee-generating ******* ets for BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK). The $5 billion processed through IBIT is up from $3 billion just months earlier. It shows accelerating adoption of a service that pulls previously self-custodied Bitcoin wealth directly into BlackRock's ******* et base rather than competing for ******* ets already inside the traditional financial system.
Cutting the minimum by 96% meaningfully widens who can use the service. Dropping the threshold from $25 million to $1 million brings the option within reach of family offices and wealthy individual holders, rather than limiting it to the largest Bitcoin holders. That gives BlackRock access to a substantially larger pool of potential conversions as the practice becomes more common.
IBIT's scale gives it a head start in capturing this migration. The fund already holds roughly 3.645% of Bitcoin's total supply and lists net ******* ets of $60.65 billion. It is scale advantage that likely makes it the default destination for holders deciding where to move their coins, reinforcing BlackRock's position as conversions boost industry-wide.
The process remains manual and slow despite the lower headline minimum. Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan said the conversion process industry-wide is "still bespoke, from introducing a client to a market maker to working with the adviser, but it's becoming more standardized," and Mitchnick himself said conversions can take more than a week. That means BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK) has not yet turned this into a fully automated, scalable pipeline even as it markets lower minimums to a broader audience.

OpenAI launched Daybreak for Frontline Defenders on September 3, committing $1 billion in subsidized Daybreak access, training, technical support and partnerships. Separately, the Daybreak Defense Network now includes more than 35 enterprise products and partner-operated services. Cloudflare is offering invitation-only access to an AI vulnerability-discovery and remediation service built with GPT-5.6 Cyber, while SentinelOne is adding Daybreak models to its Wayfinder services. Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE:NET) and SentinelOne, Inc. (NYSE:S) therefore enter the same program with different routes to revenue.
Cloudflare's model starts at the network and developer edge. The weakness is monetization. Early access is not general availability, and subsidized services can prove usefulness before they prove willingness to pay. Cloudflare must also prevent automated discovery from producing noise or unsafe fixes. Its premium valuation leaves little tolerance for a long gap between product attention and revenue.
SentinelOne approaches the opportunity from endpoint and security operations. AI gate automation cut dwell times to under 30 seconds while EAIGLE posted 350% year-over-year growth. CEO Amir Hoss explains how the company uses existing security cameras and computer vision to automate gate, yard and dock workflows. On site at a live facility, Hoss breaks down how EAIGLE went from a customer problem to a fully automated, paperless gate and yard operation. He also explains why the next growth phase matters for carriers, shippers and warehouse operators trying to move trucks through the yard faster.#GateAutomation #YardManagement #SupplyChainAI
EAIGLE, an automation company focused on gate-to-dock logistics, has closed a growth funding round on the heels of 350% year-over-year revenue growth, CEO and founder Amir Hoss said in an interview with FreightWaves. The company's computer vision platform reduces gate dwell times that previously ranged from 7.5 to 18 minutes down to under 30 seconds — and sometimes under one minute — by tapping into camera infrastructure that facilities already own.
The technology matters to carriers, brokers, and shippers because gate congestion and yard opacity have long been among the most stubborn inefficiencies in distribution operations. EAIGLE's system automates the full check-in and check-out process, validates bills of lading, purchase orders, appointments, and USDOT numbers in real time, and feeds clean data directly into yard management, warehouse management, and transportation management systems via APIs.
At one active facility where Hoss spoke — a site processing roughly 1,100 trucks per day across two gates and four lanes — EAIGLE replaced 18 full-time staff across three shifts with a fully unmanned, paperless operation. "We didn't validate here, we just log," Hoss recalled a security guard telling him five or six years ago, a dynamic he said rendered downstream YMS data unreliable. "It becomes garbage in and garbage out," he said.
"The bar is really high because you own that responsibility of initiating the high accuracy and complete data capture and validation for the rest of the systems in the supply chain ecosystem of each one of the operational customers."

Dispatch was an AI chat interface that let a driver ask for freight in plain language and had software agents handle the bidding and booking, rather than making the driver work a traditional load board.
Automated replies from the company indicated that active Dispatch subscriptions are canceled Friday, and that invoices paid within the previous 30 days will be refunded within seven business days of cancellation. Co-founder and chief executive Dan Kao posted a message inside the app thanking users for five years of trust, and drivers and trucking groups spread screenshots of it across social media.
One thing has been ruled out. OTR Solutions, which bought TruckSmarter's factoring and banking division in November 2025, told FreightWaves it did not acquire the remaining business.
So a company that raised money twelve months ago is gone by Friday, and ****** ody will say who bought it. That combination has a name in technology, even if no one involved here has used it.

At three in the morning, an AI system can evaluate a trade flow, verify a contract and trigger a cross-border payout in seconds. The payment may still sit in a correspondent bank queue for days. Corporate software now operates at machine speed, while the financial infrastructure beneath it still keeps banking hours.
That timing gap is the structural challenge. The financial architecture underneath these autonomous workflows has failed to experience a corresponding modernization.
Sophisticated, automated software layers now sit on top of traditional banking rails that remain bound by manual processes, legacy clearing schedules, regional banking hours and standard multi-day settlement timelines. This systemic divergence creates an immediate operational mismatch.
An enterprise cannot maximize continuous, automated commerce when its settlement infrastructure relies on decades-old technology designs.

Symbotic (NASDAQ: SYM), a developer of autonomous warehouse robots, went public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on June 8, 2022. It started trading at $10.51 per share, closed at a record high of $87.30 on Nov. 26, 2025, but now trades at $38.
Symbotic is still a divisive stock. The bulls are impressed by its robust revenue growth, its expanding margins, and its growing backlog -- which reached $22.5 billion in its latest quarter. But the bears will warn you that it's overly dependent on Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT) and that many investors overlook that customer concentration risk.

Walmart is Symbotic's largest customer and one of its top investors. The world's largest retailer accounted for 85% of its revenue in fiscal 2025 (which ended last September), driven by a long-term contract to automate all of its U.S. regional distribution centers through 2037.
Symbotic also acquired Walmart's own robotics division in early 2025, and the two companies have been co-developing automated micro-fulfillment systems for its brick-and-mortar stores. In other words, Symbotic wouldn't exist in its current form without Walmart's support.

This growth was fueled by semiconductor, memory, and hardware companies benefiting from AI development, even though they are considered cyclical. These sectors, representing only 7.7% of the Russell 1000 Value at the start of the year, contributed nearly 70% of its returns. The portfolio gained 10.0% in the second quarter, net of fees, compared to 13.9% for the Russell 1000 Value Index. Year-to-date, the strategy returned 6.6%, net of fees, versus 16.3% for the Index. The portfolio faced challenges due to limited exposure to companies with the greatest upside from AI infrastructure investments. It also lacked exposure to the Energy sector, which returned about 20% in the first half amid geopolitical tensions with Iran that increased commodity prices, affecting performance. The firm recognizes the importance of adapting its strategies while maintaining core investment principles as it explores future opportunities in emerging technological themes. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.

As we approach the end of 2026, the S&P 500 index is hovering near an all-time high. However, there are still some attractive opportunities on the table, even in the red-hot artificial intelligence (AI) ***** e.
SentinelOne (NYSE: S) is a leading cybersecurity company that relies heavily on AI to deliver highly automated protection to its enterprise customers. Its stock has soared by 47% so far this year, but it's still much cheaper than its top competitors CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks.

Key Takeaways
Digital euro onboarding should take under 20 minutes, while P2P transfers must take no more than 60 seconds to encourage adoption.
Automated wallet funding and co-badged cards could remove friction and make retail payments as fast as existing card transactions.
Despite its sovereignty benefits, the digital euro risks weak demand because many consumers prefer familiar payment methods and question why they need another option.
The European Central Bank may succeed in building a secure and resilient digital euro, but its adoption could ultimately depend on something far simpler: whether people find it easier to use than their existing payment methods.

Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) announced on August 10 that the U.S. FDA cleared its QIAstat-Dx BCID GPF Plus AMR Panel, marking the company's first entry into the U.S. bloodstream infection testing market. Operating on the QIAstat-Dx platform, which boasts over 5,200 global placements, the automated panel detects 20 gram-positive bacterial and fungal targets, alongside 10 genetic antimicrobial resistance markers, in about one hour.
This regulatory milestone comes shortly after Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) reported solid Q2 2026 financial results on August 5. Net sales reached $535 million (flat YoY at constant exchange rates), beating guidance for a 2% decline. Adjusted diluted EPS rose 3% YoY to $0.62, topping expectations. Performance across core growth pillars (+5% CER), including Sample Technologies (+9% CER) and QIAcuity digital PCR, helped offset a 7% drop in QIAstat-Dx respiratory testing sales. QGEN reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook for 1%–2% CER net sales growth and adjusted EPS of at least $2.43.
Additionally, Qiagen announced that Jonathan Pratt will take over as CEO effective September 1, succeeding Thierry Bernard. Joining at a pivotal time, Pratt will lead executive execution following an intensive portfolio evaluation and ongoing corporate efficiency programs.
This brings up a key question: Does the FDA clearance and steady execution under incoming leadership position Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) for a valuation rerating, or will soft regional demand and product mix headwinds keep shares range-bound?
Bulls argue that Qiagen's high-margin, consumable-driven business model (comprising 90% of total Q2 sales) provides defensive recurring cash flow, generating $301 million in H1 operating cash flow. The new FDA approval expands QIAstat-Dx into its fourth major infectious disease area in the U.S., unlocking higher-margin hospital diagnostic channels. Furthermore, solid growth across core pillars like Sample Technologies and QIAcuity demonstrates fundamental demand. Strong internal cash generation also gives incoming CEO Jonathan Pratt ample balance sheet capacity to pursue disciplined capital deployment and portfolio innovation.
